Jinx Restaurant Will Be A Kid-Friendly Restaurant on Killingsworth - Eater Portland

"Jinx, the restaurant moving into the abandoned Cup & Saucer on Killingsworth, will be a playful, family-friendly bistro with a game room and full bar from Portland industry vets. Courtney Hulbert-Lords and Colin Hulbert, two Caro Amico alums, are opening the restaurant with Patty Earley, one of the original owners of the Florida Room. The Hulbert siblings grew up in the old-school Portland restaurant world: The two are the children of Carolyn Newsom, who owned the SE Belmont classic (and supposedly haunted) restaurant Buttertoes. Jinx will have a similar spooky vibe, according to Hulbert-Lords, with vintage touches throughout the restaurant and upstairs game room — think jukeboxes and pinball machines. The restaurant will also have an aesthetic emphasis on luck, with four-leaf clovers and a bar top coated in Earley’s collection of lucky pennies. The team is still working on its culinary program and nailing down a chef, but Hulbert-Lords says the restaurant will have a Southern bent, as well as weekend brunch service and shareable plates. She’s adamant the restaurant remains accessible to the neighborhood, with no dishes over $20. “We’re really passionate about making this a meeting place for the neighborhood — safe, comfortable,” she says. “We’re keeping everything really playful and accessible.” The restaurant will be kid-friendly during the day, which means parents can enjoy brunch in peace while tykes play Ms. Pacman upstairs. Stay tuned for more information on the menu, chef, and opening date." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

We stayed in an Airbnb in the area and this was the one place that didn’t require reservations or pre-ordering via apps. It’s a quirky place with a fun spirit and excellent service. We had Mac and cheese with many add-ons (ham, broccoli, avocado), and a Cobb salad. The servings were generous and hearty and the bartender is a super-cool dude.

Love this place. The food is awesome, made from scratch and a great value! The new outdoor street seating is awesome but we enjoyed our dinner & drinks inside. Loved the veggie burger, fries and the service!

Great spot for happy hour. This place offers wonderful cocktails and boasts a delicious menu. We enjoyed the pork belly sliders, rice bowl, and sampler, and loved every bite. There is a family friendly section with arcade games for kids and adults. Come check this place out.

The decorum is just as perplexing as some of their simple flavors of their menu. I wasn't expecting gold embellished Victorian style drapes and small gold framed mirrors on the wall of a neighborhood bar, but I also wasn't expecting such a great selection of seasonal beer as well as spiral wedge fries! If you are a fry connoisseur such as myself you will love their crispy yet soft and tender french fries. Simple yet innovative. The staff is also knowledgeable, friendly and super welcoming!

Fun neighborhood spot with great food and drinks. Friendly staff and pinball machines in case you need more entertainment. More up my alley because of the lack of TVs.

I just ate the Jinx Burger! Wow! Big tie for the best burger I have ever eaten. Lots of sides to choose from. I had the FF and they were excellent while hot. (20 minutes later not so much) Perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper. If the burger was that good, can't wait to try the fried chicken & the club sandwich. Update: I went again recently and they have changed the shape of the fries. Different, good, and the leftovers reheated well in my air fryer at home.

I've been to Jinx a couple times now and I am so happy to have a place like this in the neighborhood! The service was fast, friendly and top notch. The owners have really nailed the perfect balance of a cool bar that works great as a date night/ after work spot but is also very family-friendly. I tried some appetizers and a burger and everything was tasty, especially the fries. I'm looking forward to coming back soon to try something from the cocktail list!

This is my new favorite spot! The lighting is perfect and sets the mood. The style is classic and makes you feel instantly at home. The menu is impressive and approachable. The drunken date appetizer is a must try! It is also kid friendly with a kids menu and a great assortment of pinball with step stools. Jinx has filled a need in the neighborhood and we are so happy that they are here.
