First time trying Jjanga. As you enter, the place seemed huge. Half of the area was the hibachi area and the other half area with tables for the AYCE sushi lovers.
Came here Friday evening with a friend to eat some AYCE sushi and the place seemed pretty packed, however, we were able to be seated almost immediately.
As we sat down, they sat down at a table for 2. This table was awful. It kept sliding everywhere and kept going up and down. Thankfully, they had another table open and they were able to move us to a table that sat 4 people. Table was stable this time.
For appetizers, we first started with some agedashi tofu which tasted great. Bulgogi eggroll was decent but definitely felt very filling. I had ordered miso soup in our first round and had to ask for it 3 times throughout the course of the visit. It finally came after the 3rd time I mentioned it which was about 40 minutes later. It was wayyyyy too salty and made me regret having to mention it 3 times lol. We also got the Brisket Shabu Salad. We weren't too sure what it was because shabu usually refers to something with hot pot and "swishing" the meat in the boiling water. It was a little disappointing. It was just brisket on top of a salad. Don't get me wrong, it tasted decent but I'd rather stick with my brisket in KBBQ.
Their nigiri was great though! The fish to rice ratio was perfect. Not too much rice. Salmon and eel quality was great. The dragon and spider roll were also good and had no complaints. My friend had ordered a Veggie Tempura Roll because he had thought it sounded interesting. Inside seemed to be tempura carrots and tempura cucumbers. I had expected it to be a warm roll, but when we received it, it was cold and hard, making it not so enjoyable to eat.
Overall, I'd say this was an okay experience for me. Would maybe come back just for the nigiri and definitely try the hibachi in the future since it was quite enjoyable watching them from the sushi area.
