Probably the first and last time I will come here. Wanted to try it since I’ve driven by it previously, definitely very “hipster”, but not authentic. Price for the large braised beef galbi is $64, which is understandable. The food was good, beef was very tender and sauce was sweet. Seafood tofu soup was okay, but not worth $20 in my opinion. Side of kimchi is $3, most Korean restaurants have this for free. Service was good, too, server was attentive and gave free frozen yogurt dessert at the end. Just not my vibe.

Food was good. The flavours were tasty, the meat was tender. The pancake was crispy and fluffy at the same time. However, I can’t say this is authentic Korean food as the tteokbokki and pancake were very different from the original you’d expect. This place is more a reinvention of Korean food in their own way.

The restaurant was clean and was greeted upon walking in. It's definitely a welcoming place, and parking was somewhat hard to find at first. But free parking is available. We got a side of white rice with our order and a pitcher of water. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees My wife enjoyed the Brussel sprouts and pork bulgogi. I got the duck wings and braised short ribs. You'll get 4 duck wings. Flavor is not bad with the sauce, but be warned there is more bone than meat. And the short ribs were tasty, but I wish I had more. Portions were lacking, considering the bones in both dishes. We were given about 2 tablespoons of what tasted like soft serve ice cream. It's a pallet cleanser, basically, hardly enough to enjoy. We spent just over $100 for this lunch. If you want to spend $100 for a meal, your money would be better spent at a Brazilian steakhouse where you can get all you can eat for the same price and the food is better. Sorry, but this place missed the mark.

Everything was delicious!! We ordered the fried Brussels sprouts, seafood pancake, small orders of the braised beef short rib and chicken (both spicy flavor), and had a complimentary side of kimchi. I still can’t get over how the braised meat and accompanying veggies melt in your mouth and how flavorful each bite was. Great service too! We’ll be back for sure!

If you're looking for an interesting Korean restaurant, then you should definitely check out this one! The interior design is truly stunning, with beautiful tiger paintings adorning the walls. The warm colors used throughout the restaurant create a fusion atmosphere that is truly unique. Before visiting, I highly recommend taking a look at the menu to get an idea of what you want to try. Before visiting, I highly recommend taking a look at the menu to get an idea of what you want to try. On our first visit, we started with the Chicken Jjim. We ordered a medium size dish for two, but it was way too much (it's a whole chicken!). For two people, I would recommend ordering the small size dish instead. We also added rice cakes and rice noodles to our Jjim, and we opted for a high spicy level. The braised chicken was indeed spicy, so it was a good choice to have the rice cakes and noodles to balance it out. We drank lemon and mango soju, and I personally preferred the lemon soju as the mango one was too sweet for my taste. Overall, our experience at the restaurant was great and we highly recommend it!"

Google
The food was all very delicious and the service was very good and friendly. We went during happy hour on Thursday and there wasn't very many people there which I was surprised about but also glad because it's nice to find a really good happy hour place without a huge crowd or wait. I had the watermelon margarita and it was very good, fruity with a subtle background hint of mint. Everything I ate there bc was delicious and they offered us free ice cream and that was such a nice surprise.

Google
Great modern take on korean food. Definitely great ambiance both inside and outside. Love the decor and wall paintings as they are very unique. Food is definitely more on the expensive side but super flavorful and very fusion taste. Servers and workers were all very friendly, definitely would recommend as a date spot for a fun meetup spot for people! Park in the garage nearby

Google
First time trying Jjim. The order set up is strange for a restaurant of this type. Once you walk in you order your food cafeteria style and grab your own drinks. The menu doesn’t offer much of a selection. Kind of pricey for the type of food they offer, you can go to an all you can eat Korean bbq place for cheaper than some of these options. Overall, the service was good and the food was satisfying, but probably won’t be visiting again.

Yelp
Yum! We came here on a Saturday evening and there was no wait at all. The interior is pretty cool looking with pictures of tigers. For drinks we got the Watermelon Soju. It was really good and refreshing. We also got the Fried Brussel Sprouts that were crispy and came with a yummy sauce. The Beef Galbi Jjim was really good. The meat was nice and tender. The Spicy Pork Bulgogi was also really good too. Everything was really good and I'll definitely be coming back soon!

Yelp
Not the most traditional Korean food but was surprisingly good! For 5 people, we shared the jijim braised beef and added the rice cakes, which is the perfect add! We also did the tofu starter, japchae, tofu soup and seafood pancake. The seafood pancake was more like fritters (vs full pancake) but I still really liked it!

Yelp
There is free retail parking next to the restaurant, but not a lot of availability. We went to the garage across the street and there back up up the levels. It's a mess. We ordered kimchi, pickles, crispy tofu, chicken Jjim with added rice cake, a large, extra spicy, kimchi pancake. $88.77 The kimchi is a bit more aged than I like, but the flavoring is good. The pickles are decent, cauliflower and jalapeño. The kimchi pancake is super light and airy. It's deep fried, it's quite good, super crispy. It's my favorite version that I have ever tried. The fried tofu is okay, wasn't my favorite. It's nice and crispy and topped with seaweed flakes. The chicken meat falls right off of the bone on the braised chicken. It's flavorful. Could have more rice cakes instead of the carrots and potatoes for me, which I wasn't expecting in this dish. The sauce is super rich, but good. The rice is sticky and chewy, just as it should be. Our meal ended with some complimentary vanilla ice cream topped with since rice puffs. Cools your mouth after some spicy food, but fruit would have been my preferred dessert, since that's the Korean way.

Yelp
We went to this restaurant as soon as they opened. It was an amazing experience and the service was very quick. It was not crowded at all, and the ambiance of the place was very homey and welcoming (and paired along very well with the food!) We ordered the Braised Chicken, Brussel Sprouts, and Rice (and still left with leftovers!). An amazing place to try out if you're looking for tasty, flavorful food.

Yelp
Went here a while ago and really enjoyed everything I ordered. Got the Kimchi Fried Rice, Beef Galbi Jjim, and Spicy Rice Cake with beef. Loved the kimchi fried rice - the entire dish was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of spice to it. The portion size was also great and it's definitely big enough to share. I ended up loving the galbi dish more than I thought I would. The beef was tender, melted in your mouth and was bursting with flavor. The veggies were also cooked well. The rice cakes had a nice texture to them and the beef that was in the dish had a lot of flavor to it. Highly recommend getting this for an appetizer, it's so good! Great spot overall with delicious food and friendly staff. I'll definitely be stopping by when I'm in Austin again!

Yelp
I had been wanting to try out Jjim for quite some time so I was excited to get dinner here with a friend. The service was great, and it wasn't very busy when we went so we did not wait long for our food. Everything that we ordered was delicious. The kimchi pancake was my favorite but all of it was very good. It's a little pricey but I don't mind since it's delicious and the portion size is fair.

Yelp
Loved this place!! We went before a comedy show and the HH was great! My fiancée got a beer and soju special - soju was delicious! We got the Brussel sprouts, the kimchi fried rice, the beef galbi jjim with rice noodles! I got a watermelon soju cocktail as well and it was super light and refreshing. The Brussel sprouts were amazing - I still think about them - some of the best we've had in town. The kimchi fried rice was really good as well but the beef galbi with rice noodles steals the show! The flavor!! It was incredibly tasty and worth getting! Very cute space inside and the service was great too. You order at the front and the servers will bring it all out as ready. Def recommend going!

Yelp
We went out here for dinner the other night on a whim, fortunately they had one indoor table left! Food 4.5/5 Beef jjim - we got this with noodles. It also comes with unlimited (?) White rice (cooked perfectly!). Suuuuuper tasty and the beef is deeeelicious. I'd love it more if portions were bigger or it were cheaper, though. Also probably would get with cheese and spicy sauce next time. The spicy isn't really too spicy (coming from someone who doesn't looooove spicy food) Kimchi fried rice - had i known the other dish came with rice we probably wouldn't have ordered this. It was good, but not mind blowing, and imo not worth the price. Ice cream - nice touch to end the meal, with rice crispy ish topping Sangria - totally worth it, but a little on the sweet side for me Ambiance - 5/5 Fun atmosphere that can be good for a group or a date. Also next to the Alamo Drafthouse in case a movie is part of the plan! Price 3/5 I think it's priced a little high for being kind of a casual modern place. Expect to pay $30+ each for a meal and not really have much in terms of leftovers, more if ordering drinks of course. Overall a great option for Korean food in south Austin. You won't be disappointed with the food!

Yelp
No longer there. It is now some fried chicken place. Drove out to Lamar to find some Korean BBQ... no luck. O'well.

Schelly Y.

Yelp
Fun decor, good service, and tasty food. The galbi jim with rice cakes and cheese was really good. Super tender and seasoned well

Yelp
Super cute interior with fun murals and large windows. All the dishes were so good, I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you order.

Yelp
Our first night in Austin started with dinner here! This place is so cute inside and my bf and I saw great reviews about their galbi jjim and had to try it out. We ordered their beef galbi jjim, and it came with cremini mushrooms, shishito peppers, potatoes, and carrots. These were unbelievably SO tender and soft. We were both very impressed and mindblown LOL. We chose a spicy small portion, but it was enough for both of us along with side dishes, and the spicy level was more of a medium! Highly recommend this order and it comes with a side of rice as well. We definitely had to try their portobello japchae, and we added beef to our order. This japchae was amazing. It was so flavorful and the portobello mushrooms complimented the dish so well! The beef was tender and so tasty. I'm craving this literally right now LOL probably the best japchae I've had. We also ordered shrimp dumplings as our appetizers and a side of kimchi to go with our meal. The shrimp dumplings are house-made, and comes with house chili soy sauce. These dumplings were very crispy and reminded us of dim sum fried shrimp dumplings! Another dish we had to order was seafood pancake! This was so crispy and fresh, it definitely beats any other seafood pancake we have tried. They have so many drink options, from Korean pear juice to sangria! We got the Korean pear drink and watermelon soju. We liked how the Korean pear wasn't overly sweet, and even had Korean pear chunks in the drink as well. This one was found in their fridge by the order area! The watermelon soju was a popular drink there, and it was really yummy and sweet. They also have their own merch near the entrance area if you're into collecting merch! We definitely loved this place a lotttttt and will be back when we visit Austin again!

Yelp
I've always heard good things about this place and a lot of my friends have said this is easily one of the top Korean restaurants to eat in Austin, although it is expensive. Jjim is Korean Fusion, but retains enough of the original Korean dish that makes the dishes feel familiar yet reaching out for more. The seafood pancake was interesting in that it was 3D and more fried and patterned than a pancake. The perks were it was crunchier and more flavourful, but it was also a bit heavier. The tteokbooki was sweet and tangy, but also had a kick. I couldn't help but keep eating it. The jjim was so soft and tender and seasoned well. It was savory but not too salty. The same went for the vegetables as well. I thought the portions would be small but the jjim with tteokbooki and pancake was more than enough. We also got the spicy stir fried pork and it was probably my least favorite. It wasn't spicy and there wasn't enough seasoning, so wouldn't recommend this dish. However I loved everything else and would come again!

Alex L.

Yelp
This food was good. We enjoyed it and ordered it through Doordash, where I didn't have the option to increase spiciness levels. It was good, and I'd go here for a chill meal again, but my chicken jjim had a flavor profile that was pretty darn close to teriyaki chicken. But for $24. Their no-tip policy makes this dish technically $20 @ 20%. They got rid of their large in favor of small which is pretty nice for when people want to get different dishes. Now, considering this as a technically $20 dish: The chicken, which again was akin to teriyaki but not exactly, was cooked wonderfully. I saw bones and I was worried about getting my fingers dirty, but I was able to easily pull off the meat. LOVED that so much. It's served with potatoes, shishito peppers, carrots, onions, and mushrooms which all culminate to a well-rounded meal. You get a nice amount of chicken... my picture does not do it justice. You get a side of jasmine rice included, by the way. I'm not against high-priced food, but the flavor profile and/or quantity doesn't correlate to the price to me. Maybe this place is trying to be higher class than what my perception of it is.

Chris W.

Yelp
We ordered to-go: Beef Galbi (braised beef short rib) and brisket kimchi fried rice with fried egg. The leftovers next day tasted even better. That is the beauty of Asian comfort food! The beef Galbi is more like a beef stew. Slightly dissatisfied with their online ordering system. You can't place an order "hours" ahead online, which I like to do because I prefer to plan ahead. They only allow orders 30 mins ahead of time. Even if I tried to circumvent the system, when I called the restaurant directly to place an order, they acted confused and kept referring me to use the online system. Parking is tricky because it's inside the busy S. Lamar Square center where people go for the Alamo Drafthouse and other restaurants. Just be prepared to find parking inside the parking deck. The restaurant inside is very casual. Good for families and friends for a low key get together.

Jay L.

Yelp
Very nice meal at this table service but casual korean spot. All the food was very good. Silken tofu sauce was great. Tomato salad has oeeled tomatoes as a nice touch. Japchae was well seasoned. Shrimp dunplings were excellent. Crispybl outside and large shrimp inside. Duck wings are a nice twist on chicken wings. Again excellent crispiness. Food came quickly and service was very nice and friendly. The ice cream taster gift dessert is a perfect touch to end the meal. No drinks and all the food was $75 before tip for 2.

Oak Z.

Yelp
I was very excited to try the beef galbi and pa jun, as I had heard very good things about this place. There was no need to make a reservation as it was not too packed, and we were able to be seated almost immediately. This was on a Saturday night I believe. The staff was nice and we were able to order our food quickly. The inside of the restaurant has some cool decor and it definitely has a nice vibe with the wallpaper and lighting choices. Our food came out fairly quickly and it was everything that I expected and more. We ordered the galbi for 2 and a side of the seafood pancake. The galbi was very good and very fatty which was not good for my diet but it tasted good in my mouth. The pa jun was very unique as it was not in the shape of a pancake, but rather fried and had bits of seafood around it. Quite unique and good. The only downside from the experience was that it was very expensive considering other Korean restaurants I have been to that offer similar beef galbi and seafood pancake options. We certainly enjoyed the meal and would recommend it, but it was definitely more than we would be willing to spend on a nice dinner. Maybe once I get a new job I will be able to afford to come here more often.

Yelp
A few friends have raved to me about Jjim and their authenticity factor. In a city filled with "fusion" I've tried not to get my hopes up, lest they be dashed with a heavy dose of mayonnaise and a flour tortilla. There's a time and place for those ingredients-- but when I want tofu soup or rice cakes I want it out of my sight line. Yes this is a pricier spot (particularly if you're ordering delivery) and yes the portions are smallish but the flavor and quality are outstanding! I had their seafood tofu soup, marinated eggs, and beef over rice cakes and found it filling for one over two meals (lunch/dinner). The spice was spot on and the flavor was garlicky heaven. Plus they traveled and reheated well. I will absolutely come to Jjim again whenever I have a hankering for Korean food and don't want to be disappointed!

Monsé B.

Yelp
I have meet to jjim many times now and have left very happy each time. The staff is quick to greet you and get you a spot. They also do a good job of checking up on you. The food is delicious. You have to try the braised beef dish with allllll the add on! You won't be disappointed. The restaurant has a large outdoor area which I love! Many Korean restaurants here do not have that, so it's a nice plus.

Marie L.

Yelp
So good! First of all you have to love being able to park for free in the parking garage next to Drafthouse. This little plaza is also the ultimate date night destination (movies, food and dessert) all in a few feet of each other. Jjim was so yummy. We made a reservation for 5:30pm on a Sunday but it was not packed at all. Labor day is tomorrow so I was surprised I didn't see more people out. I ordered cucumber and marinated eggs because was coming out of a fast. The cucumber is more refreshing and their raw flavor still shines despite the marinade. The eggs were divine with that salty sweet creamy umami flavor from your fav ramen. Everything comes out family style and the seafood pancake was so freaking delicious. A light super crispy fry on scallions and assorted seafood including shrimp and octopus. My son (20 and picky eater STIlL) who says he doesn't like shrimp insisted on eating with me. He loved it! Then we shared the LA Galbi which is sliced short rib. It was a little fatty but that's what short rib is. The marinade on it was to die for. I almost did the kimchi fried rice but we stuck with the white rice and I'm glad I did because it was a lot of food for two people and we still took food home. No drinks for me tonight but I did get hot green tea which came out in a cast iron pot and was a nice compliment to my meal. We were full but not stuffed. The soft serve at the end with a little puffed rice is like their dinner mint to the meal, it's not ordered but complimentary. Service was top notch! There was a moment where she was like more rice? And I hesitate in decisively and she said... I'll bring more rice, lol. I am going back because there are other things i'd love to try and it's a great place to bring a date or a friend.

Jasmine L.

Yelp
Amazing. So good got the beef Jjim with all the cheese, noodles, a rice cakes for 2 and it was more like it could serve 4. It was amazing

Alyssa J.

Yelp
10/10 from someone who grew up with authentic Korean foods in my home this place really nails it. Probably the most authentic flavorings I've found in Austin

Henry L.

Yelp
Jjim is one of the most unique restaurants I've been to. The staff is excellent and the food is fantastic. The restaurant is right next to two parking garages, so there should be a good amount of parking, especially for a restaurant on South Lamar. They have outdoor dining and the tables are a good distance away from one another. We were a party of three and ordered the Beef Short Rib Jjim (medium) and the Spicy Chicken Dak Galbi. The short rib was perfectly cooked. The flavor was delicious and the meat was tender with good marbling of fat. The potatoes, carrots, peppers, and onions were all cooked down and soft, and the mushrooms absorbed a lot of flavor. The peppers are not very spicy. The Chicken Dak Galbi was excellent as well. Hard to mess up dark meat chicken and the marinade was really good. For someone who is only okay with spice, the spiciness wasn't bad at all. Presentation of both dishes is very picturesque and tasted just as good. For three people, we struggled a bit to finish all the food, but glad we ordered two entrees. Sharing just one of them wouldn't have been enough. Definitely excited to come back and try their other items!

Danielle R.

Yelp
If you want food straight from your Korean Grandmas kitchen then I'd highly suggest checking out Jjim BBQ. It's not a large place but was almost full when we arrived, that's how I knew we were at the right place. Service was fantastic and helpful when deciding what to eat. The menu isn't large but that makes it easy for indecisive people like me. I'd recommend getting there specialty, the Jjim stew. We also got the tuna and I'm still salivating over the sauce it came with?!? Quality fish and quality spot! They offered us a complimentary ice cream scoop at the end that was the most gracious finishing touch. I added it to my list of favs in Austin so far and will be back!

Yelp
Galbi Jjim is one of my favorite Korean dishes, so this place has been on my list since it opened. I finally got to try it with a few friends for a birthday dinner. I was surprised at the setup of the place as service is more reminiscent of fast casual (like Ramen Tatsuya), where you get seated, and then order and pay at the register. It works though, and the food comes out very quickly. We ordered: - Shrimp Dumplings. Really good, it's big shrimp wrapped in yuba/beancurd that's fried, so it has that light crispness but with prevalent delicious tofu flavor. - Brussels Sprouts. Solid; I'm not a big Brussels fan but they were fried well and my friends really liked it. - Beef Galbi Jjim. Delicious, the sauce was perfectly thick and not overly sweet, and paired so well with white rice. The beef was tender and cooked perfectly, and all the vegetables were perfectly cooked and still had texture. - Seafood Pancake. One of the best seafood pancakes I've had. The version here is more lumpy like a fritter or kakiage tempura, so it's a bit less traditional but I loved it. The seafood were plump, fresh, and tender and everything was hot and crisp, and a perfect lightly sweet soy dipping sauce. - Kimchi Fried Rice. Solid version, not too tart, with the brisket tasting good and high quality. I was really impressed overall. Galbi Jjim is expensive in general so it's hard to order it often but even my party of four splitting the small one was a good amount just to all have a good portion, and fill up on all the other dishes. Also really excited to come back for the happy hour, which menu looks really good. It's from Tuesday through Friday 5:00 - 6:30pm, and 50% off alcohol, and has some tasty tacos I was eyeing.

Hannah Y.

Yelp
Lovely elevated-casual Korean food spot with an airy, fun atmosphere. The menu is small but all of the items we tried were good! Portions are also very reasonable/generous for the price. In particular, the kimchi fried rice is delicious (and spicy, but not too spicy). The soft serve with puffed rice they give at the end of the meal is also so refreshing! Dined: November 22, 2022

Yelp
I've had Jjim bookmarked for a while now so I was excited when we decided to check it out over the weekend. I was with a party of 6. Parking is super easy since there are a few free garages right around the restaurant. Jjim is set up where you order when you first walk in and let them know the table number you're sitting at. It's nice that you just go up when you're ready to order but it makes things a little tough when you have a large party since not everyone wants to go stand at the counter. Our party ordered a variety of items - galbi Jjim (of course) with noodles and rice cake, chicken Jjim with all the add ons, kimchi pancake, seafood pancake, kimchi fried rice, and 3 orders of kimchi. The pancakes are super flakey and extra crispy which is different from the flat item you'd traditionally see but they were both good! The galbi Jjim had great flavor and the meat just slid right off the bone. The chicken comes with whole chicken so expect bones. We got mild for the chicken and spicy for the galbi and I really liked the spicy flavor. Most Korean restaurants (at least more traditional ones) usually give you a wide variety of banchan (side items) for free. Jjim charges you even for kimchi and it's $3 a pop. I definitely think Jjim is in the more expensive side for what you get. The small Jjim is marketed for 1 person and medium is listed for 2 people but if you get some other items or generally eat smaller portions I think it can easily feed 2 and 3 people respectively. Great option if you're looking to eat some jjim! It is a little on the pricier side though in terms of Korean food so that's one thing to keep that in mind if you plan to dine here.

Benjamin C.

Yelp
Nope nope and more nope.... For some reason, this restaurant has high marked reviews... and a lot of them, so we were expecting great things. But it has a combination of some pet peeves of mine, which resulted in this two star review. What are these two traits? Mediocre food served in portions WAY too small to justify crazy pricing. The kalbi jjim was tender and flavored ok, but for three small pieces of meat each sized smaller than a credit card and priced at $33 for this portion? Give. Me. A. Break! No sir! The mushroom japchae was flavored ok (more western-based flavored than traditional), but the noodles were way over cooked and the dish soggy.. We also ordered the chicken wings, but I'm not a fan of my wings with the feathers still attached, or dripping the fry oil, so we didn't even taste them, as the servers were nice enough to take them back and refund the amount. Overall, this place just doesn't do it for me. Though the staff was nice. I'm willing to pay for quality, but this just doesn't match up on either front.

Kara M.

Yelp
I've visited twice now and have enjoyed the visit both times! Jjim presents a unique style of Korean BBQ and really hits the spot with their braised beef short rib (beef galbi). The staff was also really great, welcoming, and attentive. You place your order up front and then they prepare a table for you, and they have workers who check-in on you throughout the duration of your visit (not really a formal server, but very helpful staff!). They also have an "optional" tipping policy which is refreshing, since they opt to pay their workers a more fair hourly wage. I've tried their pan-fried dumplings, shrimp dumplings, and the medium-sized beef galbi jjim with glass noodles (highly recommend adding!) and mozzarella cheese. Both of the dumplings were okay; a bit pricy for the portion and nothing extraordinary, but the beef galbi is what really hits the spot! The medium can comfortably serve 2-3 people, and it comes with steamed rice. Think of it as a Korean pot roast. The meat is melt-in-your-mouth tender, bursting with flavor. The veggies are delicious, and the sauce really brings it altogether! It's sort of a "one pot" meal. Overall, I've had a great experience here. The location is also nice because there is plenty of free parking in the garage directly across from it! They don't take reservations, though, so plan accordingly.

Yelp
Firstly of note, the place doesn't accept tips because instead they're paying their employees a livable wage. This means the item prices may feel a little high, but that happy well taken care of employee is baked into those prices. Secondly, the employees are so nice and kind and happy. The place was very busy, but it was also peak time on a Friday. That said, the people were still energized, approachable and made everything feel good. We were able to put our name in and wait a little bit before getting seated for our group of 4. Once we we put our order in there was little to no time before food started coming out, which was also great. It was like a magic happy factory where delicious food was wafting out on sizzling cast iron skillets and plates of lovely goodness. All of the food was incredible. We tried a rib skillet with their suggested toppings, some shrimp pancakes, some vegetables they had for some sides and some other little this and thats. Half way through the meal I was in love and started thinking about buying merch to represent this spot across town. The kicker when the meal was done they brought out little desserts, for free. My heart, stolen forever. I immediately walked up front and picked out a t-shirt on my way out. Also, this shirt fits amazing, is crazy soft and comfy and was reasonably priced. Oh yeah, it's got an amazing illustrated design to boot, you can't lose.

Yelp
I stopped by last Sunday with friends for an early Friendsgiving and this place did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was delicious, including the red sangria (not pictured - forgot to take a photo). Many of the dishes are perfect for sharing and items are reasonably priced. If you're new in town or visiting, this place is worth the trip - I do recommend.

Yelp
Thicc is how I would describe Jjim. Come with a thick wallet because this is expensive Korean food and they have the thickest Korean pancake you will ever see. We ordered Braised Beef, spicy pork bulgogi, and seafood pancake for a party of 3 with drinks and that was enough to fill everyone's belly ( We have a bottomless stomach in the group **cough--me ). The braised beef reminds me of the beef bourguignon, so get ready for Korean food with French flare. The batter of the pancake does a good job holding the ingredients together. Overall, the food is tasty and the bill also hurts so good.

Yelp
Friend recommended this place for our first meal in Austin. It's a self serve restaurant. You order at the counter and they bring you the food. Self serve water and soft drinks for purchase. They have both inside and patio dining. They are known here for their Jjim. Jjim according to google is a Korean dish made by steaming or boiling the meat in marinated sauce. First time I've tried this type of Korean food. Beef Galbi Jjim- we got the short ribs in a large to share for 4 people. We added on the glass noodles ( you can also add on cheese and kimchi as well for extra). We got it in the original no spicy since not everyone can eat spicy. Overall, it was an ok dish. For almost $60 a plate, I expected more. It tasted very similar to beef stew. Has the beef, potato, carrots and our add on. Maybe it would have tasted better if we had gotten spicy. The flavor was there but the taste was too mediocre for the price. There's probably about 8 chunks of beef so enough to share. 3/5 Seafood soondubu soup - always a good choice to be the least. It was tasty and came with a decent amount of seafood. To me, it tasted better than the Jjim. 4/5 Seafood pancake (not pictured) - the texture is a little different from what I've had before. It was much crunchier than other restaurants. The portion is pretty small for its price. Not something that is memorable. Overall, it was a nice experience to try something new, Jjim. But to be honest, probably wouldn't come back for it or try it again. Nothing spectacular except the price. It was self serve so not much common in the service. Food came Our reasonably but it wasn't that busy when we went. Friend did mention that the Jjim they had in Cali was tastier and more. So maybe try it when you can and see for yourself :).

Yelp
A reasonable restaurant given the location, but extremely pricey relative to its quality. The marinated tea egg was the clear highlight of our meal. It was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. A strong highlight. The kimchi pancake was good, freshly-fried and paired with a well-matched sauce. But the dish itself is a bit basic, very comparable to a fried tempura or pakora. The beef jjim was pretty disappointing. The three pieces of beef in our $32 entree were well-cooked, but they were clearly roast cuts (cheaper meat pieces with large amounts of connective tissue). The preparation was surprisingly bland, it was basically a beef stew with carrots and potatoes, with just a little bit of fish sauce and hoisin added for credibility. A strange missed opportunity, given the name of the restaurant. Including tip, we paid over $70 for two people. Quality was not even close to where it should be at that price point.

Yelp
Easy parking, super clean restaurant, interesting concept (you order at the counter, they give you a table number, then water and food is brought to you). Flavors were very good although the shrimp dumplings were a little different than I expected. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
4.5 Was very consistent and good throughout. It's not your typical kbbq where you cook your own meat, but was nevertheless very good. If you're in austin and are craving kbbq I would recommend stopping by this place. kimchi: we got the radish kimchi (kkakdugi) and it has the perfect amount of spice / acidity. it was only $3 and it's the perfect appetizer and perfect dish to cut through the richness of the entrees 4.5/5 kimchi fried rice: so glad we got this! the rice was perfectly cooked - wasn't sticking together and had a nice mouthfeel. the beef had the perfect amount of chewiness / seasoning. the egg! absolutely perfect. i personally like when the egg yolk is slightly runny and this egg hit the spot. the egg yolk coated the rice nicely and gave it a really nice creamy texture 4.5/5 beef galbi jjim: omg this was SO tender. it LITERALLY melted in my mouth. it was so flavorful and i would definitely order this again. to my surprise, the potatoes, mushrooms, and carrots were also well cooked. 5/5 thoroughly enjoyed lunch here. will be coming back in the future

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! I've been here twice and both times were great experiences with fantastic service and delicious food. Upon entering, you're greeted warmly and see a counter directly to the left and a wall of their merchandise and drinks to the right. After you order at the counter, the friendly staff take you to a seat - there's both plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The place feels that much more spacious with its high ceilings and largely windowed walls. There was also a wall adorned with framed pictures of tigers, including a Tiger Woods picture which I found humorous. There is an area in the back where you can fill up on drinks if you ordered one, and grab utensils and things, although the service staff are also on point about bringing you what you need. I ordered the seafood pancake both times which is a testament to how much I enjoyed it. While unorthodox for a Korean pancake, I love the crunchy texture and the perfect ratio between veggies, seafood, and batter. I also ordered their jjim both times because duh, that's what they're known for! It was so exciting each time to see them bring out the beautiful cast iron pan of steaming meat and colorful veggies. I tried the beef short rib and oxtail and both were so flavorful and tender, with the oxtail being (arguably) slightly more tender. Their veggies are perfectly cooked and while not the star, do well to support the dish and serve as vessels of the heavenly juices that pool at the bottom of the pan. Side note, I highly recommend spooning some of those juices over your rice. Speaking of rice, let's not forget the sides - along with the jjim, they provide a nice-sized, covered bowl of rice that you can share. As someone who loves her rice, I can appreciate the plentiful portion and the ability to get more while staying warm under its cover. The jjim also comes with a choice of add-ons, and each time I opted for kimchi and pickles. They have my favorite kimchi because it has pieces of pear(?) mixed in which gives an additional texture and lovely sweetness that appeals to my sweet tooth while balancing with other flavors. I got the medium size jjim each time which I found to be perfect for 2, although they list it as good for 2-3 guests. If you're aiming to share between 3 people, you might want to order other dishes. If you don't finish your food, they say that the jjim are great as leftovers and have to-go containers at the ready. Small but admirable detail: they have a no tipping policy. Signs on their counter inform you of their belief that they should already compensate their staff well enough to not need tips. I have not been for them but they do have alcohol specials through happy hour and things like wine Wednesdays. Free parking is very easy to find in the nearby garages of the Lamar Union area. I definitely plan on coming back!

Yelp
Being half Korean I can be pretty darn picky when it comes to good Korean food. Well, let me tell you this place is legit. No don't get banchan(traditional side dishes) served prior or while with meal. They have a pretty long appetizer list, so we went with dukboki. It's was so good. It wasn't the traditional soupy sauce kind. The rice cake was soft and crispy like it was pan fried. Highly recommend it! Do yourself a favor and get the spicy braised galbi. The soft tofu soup was the best I've had!

Yelp
I was super excited to try this place out as I have been hearing tons of great things and it does quite live up to its expectations. Honestly, my friends and I went in, looked at the menu prices, and our eyes almost popped out of our heads when we saw how much it was and that you had to pay for kimchi. However, that sentiment drastically changed by the end of our meal. In my opinion, I do think for some traditional items such as Japchae & Kimchi Fried Rice, they are offered at a higher price range than what you would normally see at other locations. But given the interior & ambiance of the restaurant, the price does match the experience it aims to offer. My favorites from the menu would have to be the Jjims and this is the most value in my opinion as well. The braised beef & the braised chicken were so delicious. We could not stop singing prayers for how soft the chicken was. The flavor was amazing and the mix of the glass noodles was such a nice touch to the meal. We added the spicy sauce to our chicken jjim and it offered a nice tangy kick to each bite that wasn't too overpowering. Between the beef and the chicken one, I would say that I prefer the Beef. The chicken jjim was good but the galbi jjim was on a whole other level. The beef was so tender and easy to bite into. It was so soft that you literally had to use the spoon to pick up the pieces because the chop sticks would just break through. The potatoes were absolutely delicious and a very nice addition to the jjims. Everything about the Jjims was quite honestly cooked to perfection. All the parts were nicely coated in sauce and very evenly cooked. In terms of the Japchae and Kimchi Fried Rice, the japchae was really flavorful and pretty good. Same goes for the Kimchi Fried Rice. I think for these two entrees, they were both good but personally not something that I would crave or go back for. However, it was very nicely presented and cooked. Service was also really great! Everyone there was super nice and the interior is absolutely gorgeous. There's also a complimentary froyo at the end per customer request!

Yelp
Yaaay yaaay... so glad we found this Korean BBQ place. Holy Moly Galbijim... where have you been? This place has a phenomenal Galbijim... it is juicy shortrib deliciousness and the veggies in the broth... soooo very good. I could have this all day, everyday! We were lucky to get in here on a Friday night with no reservation and a 15 min wait. The staff is super duper friendly and the overall vibe of the place is chill. Our family absolutely enjoyed out time at JJim. Besides the Galbijim, we had beef bulgogi and kimchi fried rice that my family loved but it was a tad too salty for me. The seafood pancake was favorite for all of us... so crisp and no fishy taste. I had the watermelon soju and it was super sweet, not my thing. But I will try their more citrusy drink next time. Go support this great local business and please do try their Galbijim! :)

Yelp
We came twice, and I think I should do a review for Jjim. I really love this place! The service, the food, and decor is amazing. The three dishes we got in separate 2 times are Chicken Jjim, Beef Jjim, and Seafood pancake, and I would recommend all three of them. I don't know how they made the meat so tender and soft! The sauce is really tasty with rice! And the seafood pancake is fresh and crispy! Hope to come back again soon!

Yelp
So I wasn't sure what to really expect but I was definitely surprised by this restaurant. Braised short ribs are one of my favorite Korean dishes and this place knows how to make a good one. The beef was super soft and we ordered the glass noodles as the additional topping and that was probably the best decision. It was a great pairing with the dish. With the braise short rib they give you a generous amount of rice as well. We also ordered the Kimchi fried rice was pretty solid as well. The kimchi flavor wasn't as strong and it didn't feel as heavy while eating it. All in all this was a good amount of food for 2 people and definitely a restaurant I recommend if you're visiting Austin!

Yelp
Good braised beef jjim but foods are too expensive for what it comes with. Beef jjim has few pieces of beef and more of carrot, potato, and peppers. There's no free or base side dish for this expensive jjim, which is hard to believe for Korean restaurant. Medium size of jjim could be small for 2 people unless you add all of add-ons. Beef is very tender and delicious though. Tofu soup is also good but I feel its bit expensive too. Design and decor of the place shows great mixture of tradition and street style of Korean culture. The place provides complementary ice cream, which is good. You can have rice as many as you want. Its a good place to try for one time experience.

Yelp
I've eaten here twice and every time it has left a great impression. The first time I had the braised bbq without the cheese but the second time we ended the mozzarella, and it took that dish to the next level! I could eat that dish every day if it was available to me. The side dishes are also amazing! I've tried a couple of different offering, which never seem to disappoint. More recently, I tried the brussel sprouts and spicy rice cakes, which I highly recommend. As for the service, no complaints. The folks are patient and attentive. I love that I can order and pay for what I want up front, enjoy my meal, and leave when I'm done.

Yelp
Excellent Korean food in the heart of Austin. We ordered delivery from here so can only comment about the food... ... which was tasty all-the-way-around. We ordered the spicy beef silken tofu soup, beef japchae, beef short bib jjim, and pork bulgogi. Classics really, with maybe a slight spin. A bit on the pricier side, but everything was amazing. My favorite was the tofu soup, which, when done properly (and this one was), is so unique and so tasty it'll keep you craving for more. In fact, just writing this is making me hungry. Anyways, highly recommended.

Yelp
Had dinner at JJim the other night and were completely blown away at how delicious the kim chi fried rice was! You order at the counter and food is brought out to you, it was less than 10 minute waiting time for each order. Drinks can also be ordered at the counter (alcohol or sans) **you can sample house cocktails before committing to a whole drink! My partner and I ordered, kim chi fried rice with beef brisket and spicy pork belly. These two items were fairly similar in ingredients and spice level. (Except protein) A pot of rice is brought to the table to enjoy with entree item. We didn't finish the entree and were able to take it home as leftover for 2 more portions. After our meal, we were offered complimentary ice cream. And it was just the perfect amount! Overall our 2 entree and 2 drinks plus tip cost us ~$60.

Yelp
This place has really grown on me. My favorites are the short rib and the spicy rice cakes. Those are so addicting. Their galbi tang / soup is delicious too and great for when you're craving something hearty.

Yelp
Been waiting for this place to open since last year. They specialize in their Jjim (braised beef short rib or spicy pork too) served with potato, carrorts, and mushrooms. You get the option of adding mozerella cheese . The meats on both beef and pork were fall off the bone. The noodles perfect al dente chewy texture meanwhile the cheese is not an overwhelming smother. Extremely flavorful as the sauce was perfect to pour over rice. You can tell that it took some time to make it that tender. There's not much of a benchmark in Austin for this dish so I think it'll be popular and catch on. Chosun Galbi is another option. They and all in California that I've experienced are more saucy versions. This is a lighter but doesn't mean it's bad, just a different presentation. Price is the same as Cali though. It does come with shareable rice, kim chi and pickles side dish. $55 for 2-3 and $75 for 3-4 however, important to note that they don't do any tipping. They justify that by rolling the prices in to make up for a livable wage. I'd recommend the 2-3 portion and then get a few more items like soup, appetizers, etc so folks in your group have an opportunity to try a little bit of everything. They specialize in Jjim but I am a fan of their other items too.

Yelp
If you're looking for an ahjumma here, she ain't here. This is not your ordinary Korean BBQ stop. We ordered the Beef Galbi Jjim (braised beef short rib) and the Spicy Silken Seafood Soup. I was clearly expecting... short ribs (galbi styled), but instead was served a beef roast of some sort (carrots and potatoes included). Pretty savory for a beef roast, but not the worth the price! As for the Spicy Silken Seafood Soup... not bad! I thoroughly enjoyed my seafood version of the soondubu jjigae.
