Save Room for Ice Cream at These Fantastic Detroit Shops

"There’s a long lineup of ice cream treats at this Dearborn shop. Sweet Bun, a hot-pressed ice cream donut sandwich, is this place’s claim to fame, and a machine keeps the doughnut hot and the ice cream cold. Go for the Superman flavor, or the Ashta, which was added after many requests from customers. Frozen custards can also be served in a pie and flavor include Fruity Pebbles, Oreo, Biscoff, and Cookie Monster." - Courtney Burk

Amazing place! I loved my Dubai strawberry cup. Nice staff, too. Parking can be a bit tricky, but spots open up eventually. Great place for some good custard!

I have been a fan of Custard Co since it opened. It was always consistent and delicious. I have noticed an exponential decline in quality and cleanliness in recent months. A couple times ago, I got the Dubai sundae and noticed a large piece of paper towel in the bottom. This evening I went in, and shortly after I ordered a girl (who I assume works there) came in off the clock with a group of friends. She proceeded to make them and herself all free ice creams and left. We waited at least 15 minutes for her to make their desserts, and about five customers orders that came in after me. The girl who ended up making my ice cream appeared to be the only one consistently working on customer orders. She did amazing on mine! Overall I’m just extremely disappointed with my experiences over the last few months, I have always thought Custard Co was such a gem in Dearborn.

I gave this location a try , and you know what they’re pretty nice! I loved my Ferraro ice cream. We also got a flurry with chocolate chips and cinnamon toast but it had a whoooole lotta chips 😭 kinda hurt to eat but it was promising, I’d probably get the add ins on the side instead of inside next times but definitely a 10/10 💕 The first time I came to custard co was in Dearborn heights and I didn’t have the chance to experience it due to some issues with the door but I’m happy I did. It was pretty nice I loved my Ferraro ice cream! 10/10 again!

Dubai chocolate Sundae with strawberries, Oreo cone in a cup(we didn't want the cone), cookie butter parfait with caramel syrup. Everything was so excessive. Too much topping not enough custard. Way too much chocolate on the Sunday. I'll try something different and ask them to go light on the toppings next visit.

Pro's: They have pistachio bits to put on top of the custard. I love that. Con's: Literally no flavor at all. We got ashta & pistachio cake batter, and both had no flavor. There was the slightest hint of flavor in each, we were severely underwhelmed and disappointed. Place is cheeks.

Small place, but very cute and fun inside. It appeared very clean. The menu was insane, it had filled custard cones rolled in topping. We got a s’mores cone, and it was AWESOME. They had lots of flavor options like Dunkaroo, cookies and cream, etc. Parking was bountiful here and we stopped because of the convenience factor, it’s right on the corner of road, so easy to get to!

Came here with some locals while on vacation. It was a hot, humid day and a sweet treat seemed necessary! My friends assured me the ice cream was good and their little kids knew what they wanted. I had a very hard time choosing what to get but I ordered a dole whip (silly that they then had to ask me which flavor...as far as I know, Dole sells pineapples, not mangos or anything else...) and it was yummy. Everyone else got different ice creams. The portions were very generous. They seating area was big enough for lots of people and was equipped with cleaning wipes to clean up any melted ice cream (the group before us hadn't done so, but at least the wipes were there so we could clean the table.)

The Custard Co does NOT respond. In August I ordered a dubai chocolate ice cream. it looked and tasted nothing like how they advertised it to be like. I attached a picture of what I got and what they advertised to me. I paid $13 for this. For a little pistachio mix on top and a tiny sad drizzle of chocolate … $13?!!?! . I dmmed them in AUGUST and they did not respond.
