"Relaxed and cheerful, JJ’s is ideal for a lighthearted lunch outing with the kids or coworkers. The fun variety of signature hot dogs, made with Sahlen’s smokehouse hot dogs and sausages and served on soft potato rolls, ranges from the Char Heel (with house-made chili, slaw, diced onions, and yellow mustard) to the Southern Girl (with pimento cheese, slaw, bacon, and Hot Blonde mustard). For veggie lovers, there’s a vegetarian substitute available." - Katie Toussaint, Kathleen Purvis

This is a fantastic location for enjoying a good time with friends and family. (BONUS: They have drinks from local breweries). Whether you want a Hot Dog or a specialty Sausage, this place serves flavors worth the trip (I picked up my daughter from USC to come here today.) I don't need to say much about JJ's; the pictures speak for themselves. Yes, the Sausage has cheese on the INSIDE!. 🤤 The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. There is a slim chance the night do a FOOD TRUCK!

LOVE A GOOD DOG! Easily accessible from East Blvd. If you are in the mood for some delicious hotdogs, this is the place to go. They have everything from original hotdogs to coney island style, polish, or Italian sausage. I did notice they added sandwiches, tenders, and wings to their menu. This time, I decided to try their tenders with fries. While they were tasty, I would most likely not order them again. They were sooooo crispy and fried, thr skin portion would just fall off the chicken and if it didn't, it was hard to bite into, very greasy, and just not what I would imagine or want from a tender. I guess that's what I get for being adventurous and not getting a dog, haha! Other than that, service was efficient. Everyone was super friendly, and there was plenty of seating to choose from. They do have parking on site, a little narrow and small, so please be careful when pulling in. Other than that, it is a great location and will be back when craving hotdogs.

Google
Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service is excellent! Ordered the Chihuahua’s dog and the Nashville sandwich. The food came out really quick (within 5 min). The food quality however could be a bit better for the price range. This would be a good place to grab a quick bite and maybe a pint with friends if you’re looking for a casual spot to hang out and eat hotdogs. Would recommend.

Google
The service was superb. The food was tremendously amazing and bursting with flavor. Shout out to The Manager LaLa, and the crew treated us like family and allowed us to taste all the amazing sauces and sausages crafted by Estaban himself. This is a must try. Stop everything and come on thru.... 10 out of 5 stars without a doubt !!!!!

Google
We enjoyed the food everything was good. The hot hotdogs had great flavor and the chicken strips were seasoned and fried perfect. Reasonable prices. If you don’t want boring hotdogs definitely come here. My son really loved those tater tots.

***Enjoy hot dogs for $3 after 3pm on Tuesdays*** (on regular days it’s about $5.99) I just loved the veggie hot dog and they have a lot of toppings to choose from. The person at the register recommended the toppings based on my spice requirements and I just loved every bit of the hot dog. Mu husband enjoyed the turkey hotdog with bean chili. Must try their house made sriracha honey sauce. It was just mind blowing!! Freshly cooked chips with ranch was good too. The buns used for hot dog were soft and moist which I have never found anywhere else. They were perfectly toasted. Amazing service- person at the register and the waitress were so patient and had a big smile on their faces. They are so welcoming!! Retro ambience makes it more special to dine-in. Hot dog options - veggie, pork, beef, turkey

Google
They have some really good 🔥 char-grilled 🌭 hotdogs! I don't prefer the onion rings, they are flavorful but the batter holds too much grease and it falls off the onion ring itself. However, the rest of the meal was good. I don't eat hotdogs often just because they are highly processed but when I do I am going to go to JJ's when I'm in town. It's a nice treat for yourself. They have plenty of toppings too and you can custom order if you don't want what's offered on their menu, and the menu has plenty of options.

Google
1st time visitor. Wanted a good hotdog. Nothing fancy or Chicago style, just a good dog with chili, slaw, and onions. It was very tasty. The dog was good, and so was the slaw, and I'm picky about slaw. The onion rings were also good and crispy. Service was good, since it was our 1st time order taker took the time to explain all the weekly specials. You order, they bring your food, you eat, and clean up after yourself. The atmosphere was good, and music was varied for everyone. Will definitely be back!!

James A.

Yelp
The food is consistently good. Service as well. And the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. Lots of interesting decor and plenty conversation starters all over the restaurant. Love this place!

Mark W.

Yelp
If you want a really really good hotdog, this is the place It is a very clean restaurant with lots of different types of pickles to choose from. They probably have 20 different kinds of hotdogs you can have them done to your own liking I like mine extra chard I love the Chicago dog and then I'll create my own dog with various toppings, they've got beers on tap beers in the bottle soda. In my own humble opinion the best hotdog in Charlotte if not in North Carolina. And the service is excellent they take your order quickly, and they deliver the hotdog of your liking even faster

Shawn L.

Yelp
Excellent hot dogs, had a Joliet Jake (Chicago Dog) and a Chili dog. The Chicago dog was perfect, every ingredient correct and overall great. The chili dog was good, could have used a bit more chili and a bit less onion. Great service, really nice seating both inside and outside. Plenty of parking and free wi-Fi. Reasonable prices and a decent hot dog "happy hour" ($3 dogs)

Larry B.

Yelp
We dropped in after spending the afternoon at Freedom Park (1/2 mile away) with the grandchildren. It is as they plainly state a hot dog stand, with indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter and they deliver the order to your table. The menu had something for everyone. We had the Joliet Jake, a kids hotdog, a build your own, KASEKREINER. The counter staff are very friendly and helpful. They efficiently take the orders and verify the choices. Everyone seemed to enjoy their choice, even the picky two year old who ate the whole dog, most of the bun and many of the tater tots and snatched a few fries in the meantime. The hotdog buns were soft, fresh and warm. The eleven year old commented on how soft the bun was. The sausage was perfectly browned with great snap to the casing and tasted wonderful. Possibly the best sausage and kraut I've had since leaving Chicago. We also have different sides and shared. Tater tots, crinkle fries and house made wavy chips. It's probably the cleanest hotdog stand ever. The staff was stocking supplies and tidying during our entire visit.

Lea L.

Yelp
Vegan hotdogs were super good. My friend couldn't stop raving. Best spot in the area. Staff was very nice and friendly. Has a couple of booths all we're taking. Place gets busy.

Marissa F.

Yelp
Where do I even begin? I was so impressed with JJ's. I only made an order to go, I was craving a hot dog but when I stepped inside everyone was so nice. The communication was wonderful. I consistently was checked in on and asked if everything was okay. That just really surprised me for not even being someone who dined in, I loved it. Let's talk about the food...amazing!! I got the hot dog combo. I did the char-heel with a turkey dog. The flavors were so balanced, it was the best hot dog I've ever had. I got the beans on the side which were just as good and got better as I ate them. I probably could have got 2 combo meals at how good the food was. So very satisfied with my first visit, I will be back and hope that they are just as outstanding!

Tracy M.

Yelp
This is a cute little spot to pop in and have a couple hot dogs made the way you like. The service from the front counter to being served after you find a table is great! It's very clean and family friendly. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy. Even though the food didn't "wow" us, we enjoyed the experience. I would probably go back and request something different on the menu.

Trey B.

Yelp
Excellent experience. The dogs are great with plenty of variety depending on your taste. Great sides as well. I would rank them onion rings, fries, then tots, but was happy with all of them. I will be back regularly.

John M.

Yelp
J.J.'s Red Hots has some great hot dogs. They use a quality hot dog and a quality hot dog bun and offer a lot of great toppings. The service here is friendly and professional and the place has a cool.enough vibe. I had a chili cheese Coney and the onion rings and it was a great meal. J.J.'s Red Hots shows that great food does not need to be fancy. I would definitely recommend a visit here.

Stan U.

Yelp
Really cool hotdog joint. Great service and very friendly. I had a Chicago dogs that was right on, sport peppers and all. Tots rock too!

Abby R.

Yelp
We went for lunch on a Thursday, it wasn't too busy. It is a very casual place with tv's placed around their seating area. They have a large menu with a variety of different "dogs". I got the bratwurst and my bf got the "Country Girl", everything was very good ! I definitely recommend this place if you want a different, flavorful dog.

Sarah W.

Yelp
Elevated hot dogs, yes please! I've never been to a place quite like this. They have a menu of a variety of different hot dogs and brats to choose from. I ordered the two dog combo and got the Chicago dog and the No. 1 Red Hot- both were delicious! They don't skimp on the toppings either. As a side I got the onion rings which were thin and crispy, and the server offered me the house made remoulade sauce to dip and it was so tasty. Service was quick and friendly. They have indoor seating as well as an outdoor rooftop, but we took ours to-go for the perfect picnic in the park!

Lisa A.

Yelp
I love a good hot dog but this was not the greatest one for me. I had the regular hot dog made custom. It was grilled and I do prefer a steamed dog..was missing that snap....the toppings over powered the dog, which seemed small...so I felt it was mostly toppings and bun. My guest had the Kasekreiner which he liked very much. The service was very friendly and quick! Lots of seating...I may give it another try!

Nicholas S.

Yelp
You gotta love a Charlotte staple like JJ Red Hot's. Whenever my parents come to visit, JJ's is always on the itinerary. We love the variety of dogs that they have and the pricing is reasonable. Definitely would recommend checking them out!

Jim B.

Yelp
Our first time here. They have a great selection of various hot dogs and sausages. We tried three different hot dogs as well as the onion rings. Everything was exceptional!!! We would definitely come back again when in Charlotte.

Rich B.

Yelp
Mediocre food at best.. wasted a trip down to try this place only to be disappointed by tasteless food. I had high hopes for this place based on some reviews but very disappointing.

Kristen C.

Yelp
So so good. We love going here. The staff is always so friendly and kind. The food is tasty and fresh. Everything is quick and delicious. Their pimento cheese is amazing, always add it to your or sandwich. The build your own is the best. They have fun drink options too!!

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Always delicious. Perfect spot for a quick, creative, & casual lunch. Hog Thai'd dog has peanut butter, bacon, honey, and sriracha. Excellent. If it's on the menu, then you can't go wrong. Onion rings are my favorite, but can't go wrong with a side of tots either.

Jessica D.

Yelp
When I tell you we enjoyed the food, before leaving we order hot dogs to go and ate it at the airport. Never had hotdogs like this before and now every time I am in Nc I will make sure to stop at Jj's to enjoy. Very good!!

A W.

Yelp
Been to JJ's lots of times. I particularly like the hot dog special with fries. What makes the place special is the retro look of the place and the outstanding selection of local craft beers. My grandkids like the rooftop outdoor tables on a nice day. You can't go wrong at JJ's.

George D.

Yelp
Carolina Dog - chili, slaw, onion, mustard. Best I have ever had and I have had many. Also got a kraut dog with mustard. Absolutely fantastic. Fries were only average unfortunately but I did not come for the fries. :-) Highly recommend you give this place a try.

Hannah K.

Yelp
A perfect Friday afternoon walk ended at JJ's for lunch. Order at the counter, grab your drink and head up to their rooftop patio to relax and enjoy the best hotdogs in town! I had the Southern Girl- pimento cheese, slaw, bacon and hot blonde mustard piled high on top of a juicy flavorful dog on the perfect bun. It was a 10/10 for sure! The others in my party got the JJ's bratwurst with house made sauerkraut and a build your own dog with JJ's slaw and enjoyed these items as well. Hit the spot! Tip- you can get a one dog or two dog combo: we took advantage of this and split the order of fries between all of us!

Steve H.

Yelp
Finally made it into JJ's to try their hot dogs (and chicken sandwiches). Amazing flavors, from pineapple (???) to pimento cheese to a really nice chili and slaw. The chicken was dope, too. Warning: as tempting as it looks, the hot dog plus chicken plus side is an unreal amount of food :)

Valarie J.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of hotdogs so I knew this would be a hit for me. We are newer to the area and a lot of people have suggested we come here. We finally were able to stop by on a rainy summer afternoon. We ordered from the menu and got a couple of combos. They do not have a gluten-free option so we ordered some of the dogs without buns. It wasn't a huge deal but it would be great if they had a gluten-free bun. We ordered the Carolina and the Coney and No1. We ordered combos so we both got fries. We also ordered beers. The hotdogs were excellent . They were full of toppings. The wiener was delicious and plump. Even the dogs that we ordered without buns were completely full of toppings. The fries were just OK. They were just warm with no seasoning or anything which was disappointing. I would highly recommend coming and just trying them out because the dogs are fantastic. I can see why Guy really liked this place when he stopped.

Sammantha J.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere and vibe. Very laidback and divey. The staff was very friendly and inviting and the restroom was clean. The food was simply aiight (misspelling intended). The Carolina style dog had basic hot dog chili, normal slaw, diced onions and an average tasting wiener. The Jalapeño Cheddar bratwurst was not good to me due to the Dijon type mustard and flavor of the brat but my husband really like it. The onion rings are thin seems to have a well seasoned batter but there was no flavor...it was bland. The fries wings (not the smoked ones) also have no flavor and straight from the employee's mouth, they put no seasoning on it, just the sauce. The fries were actually pretty good. Nothing fancy, just medium sized crinkle fries. I was super stoked they had fountain Cheerwine though, since we don't have it where I live now. Overall, I would return to try other dogs but I'm pretty sure it's be about the same now since the base of the dog (the wiener) was not my favorite.

Joshua B.

Yelp
My first time here and the atmosphere is amazing! Customer service was a 10/10 the lady was very patient and helped me pick my hotdogs! Food came out quick! I've never thought about dressing a hot dog as a hamburger and it's so delicious! Must recommend this place!

Ashley F.

Yelp
This was just an okay experience and that's okay. My hot dogs weren't flavorful at all, kinda seemed like I was just eating bread and mustard. Not what I'm used to from JJ's. Perhaps it was just a bad day. It was pretty busy in there, but service was fine. I ordered the double dog combo with the Char heel and JJ's "no.1" Red Hot. Both just okay, maybe I need to try a sausage option next time. Also, the fries were literally just fries....no salt, pepper or anything. Again not bad, just okay.

Deborah N.

Yelp
JJ's is still the "go-to" place for satisfying the urge for hotdogs. Lots of variations to put a new spin on an old favorite. Husband had the "dog of the day" with pineapple salsa. All you have to do is add a side of onion rings and cold Cheerwine and you'll be happy. When we visit Charlotte, we always manage to stop here.

Jason T.

Yelp
Hot dogs are awesome, people are very friendly, prices are reasonable, no excuses...go!

Melanee D.

Yelp
Warmly greeted when I arrived. Order was promptly and politely taken. Food was served hot and tasty (shout out for the smoked wings and onion rings). Customer service was above and beyond stellar. Kinda mad I've slept on this place for so many years. I will be back to try more dogs and wings! Thank you for getting it ALL right!

Tayler M.

Yelp
nothing really special, 2 hot dogs and onion rings were $15 which is a bit pricey for a hot dog i don't care where you're from hot dogs are the cheapest meat you can buy. onion rings were not very good lacked seasoning & batter was crumbled off before i could even have a bite. not worth the price.

Ni E.

Yelp
Tater tots and built our own hot dogs. Left one wasn't as good as I'd expect, but the other two were decent.

Kay S.

Yelp
Another golden find from Guy Fieri! This is just straight up DAMN GOOD DAWGS! I got the Southern Girl. Homemade pimento cheese with a bit of Shute, crunchy chopped slaw that brings a bit of acid to cut through the richness. It's perfect. Chili Coney was a Coney. Coney Island does that one better y'all - sorry. Tater tots will make you wanna be a kid at heart and decadent enough they're worth a table portion for munching! Onion rings didn't hold the breading -chef needs to add corn starch to the batter :P

Ashlee S.

Yelp
Wow... $8 for a hot dog that's the exact same size as one I could have bought at a grocery store and I ordered a veggie dog and this was real meat. Rip off and they can't even make the right food.

Charlie K.

Yelp
I've only had JJ's a few times but I've always enjoyed the items on their menu. I normally go for one of the hot dogs with a side of fries. Hot dogs are cooked well and if you have any issues the staff are happy to help. Indoor environment can get a bit loud during peak hours, but otherwise it's a great place for some grub! Good service, good food, and not heavy on the wallet!

Carla H.

Yelp
We stopped in our our way to the hospital and boy were we impressed. The staff were all so welcoming and the food was delicious. We tried the "Char Heel dogs and chicken strips for our little one. The onion rings!!! OMG "The Onion Rings" were off the chain and the dogs were as well. Will definitely be back again!!

Brittany S.

Yelp
Always enjoy the hot dogs here! Really great place! Everyone is always so friendly and beers always cold. I always make my own hot dog and it's always delish. I like coming here when it's a bit warmer because they have a cool rooftop table.

Tran N.

Yelp
Came during COVID and there were plenty of outside seating. Some upstairs and others right next to the parking lot. The menus are outside along with PICTUREs! yes pictures. I am always so thankful for their pictures. You order and pay and they bring the food to you. It was very simple and quick. They have specials so I was able to get the chorizo hot dogs with a side of chips. I am used to just regular hot dogs with some toppings on top. This is not like that. They have several toppings and some kind of sauce. It can get a bit messy but because of all the toppings and sauce it makes the hot dog very flavorful. This is a hot dog place so I would def stick to the hot dogs. My friend ordered the nashville chicken sandwich that was not bad but the hot dog was way better.

Darryl K.

Yelp
Tasty dogs with all the fixins. Nice atmosphere, good crowd. Parking is a little bit of a challenge but all in all, a good spot.

Joshua R.

Yelp
Probably Charlotte's finest dogs. Definitely in the conversation. My Two Dog Combo consisted of JJ's "No. 1" Red Hot (right) and The Joliet Jake (left). $12.49 for the combo that included fries and a drink. The "No. 1" comes with JJ's Hot Relish, diced onions, Weber's mustard and a dill pickle spear. Joliet is a suburb of Chicago, making The Joliet Jake JJ's version of the Chicago dog with tomatoes, sport peppers, diced onions, pickle relish, deli mustard, celery salt, and a pickle spear. JJ's serves Sahlen's Smokehouse Hot Dogs and mine were cooked perfectly with a nice char while still keeping that classic dog "snap." The potato buns were warm and lightly toasted. Topping ingredients were all fresh. Crinkle cut fries were fresh, hot and crispy. JJ's received high praise from Sherrill Reed as well who said that JJ's is the closest he's had to the dogs he makes at home. JJ's has a great drink selection including beer, a dining room with a retro feel, and a nice roof top patio for those days that aren't 100 degrees outside like it was today. Highly recommend.

Pam C.

Yelp
JJ's is such a comfortable place to grab lunch! The dogs and tots are great and service is friendly. We were in on a busy Saturday at lunch and the place ran like a top. Clean tables and booths... Good food delivered fast. We met Lala who checked in frequently and brought the best homemade ranch dressing for our tots. She was always in motion with a huge smile. Go in and meet Lala, you'll leave smiling too!

Taianna P.

Yelp
When I'm in the area or close enough for delivery I make sure to grab a bite. Always best hit fresh off the grill.

Frank Q.

Yelp
Great hot dogs good variety nice atmosphere Carolina Dog Chicago Dog Chili Cheese Dog

Brady B.

Yelp
Visited during COVID19. Super easy and convenient online ordering available, order was placed and ready in 10 minutes for 3 hot dogs and an order of tots. I ordered a vegetarian hot dog with tomato, onion, shredded cheese, and cilantro lime crema. Yum!! Could have easily eaten two. My husband ordered 2 of the specialty (southwestern and chili cheese) and he enjoyed both, especially chili cheese. The tots were classic tasty greasy. They have a pick up booth outside the store, so it's very convenient and requires minimal human touch/interaction.

Lola M.

Yelp
There racist. Everyone that works there miserable and don't wash there hands they scratch there asses and grab you bun. If it's an order remake they take there bare fingers slide the toppings off and put more toppings on... They don't watch for food allergies as well. Imagine being allergic to a certain topping and found out it was covered under other toppings just pure laziness..they use the same glove the whole day. It's really sad how they pretend to be good people but are fucked up rude and nasty. I wouldn't dare eat at east Blvd location ever again in my life. My son order a hotdog with just slaw ketchup and chilli and got relish chilli ketchup and mustard.. he's allergic to mustard I clearly said no mustard.. like they just don't care inconsiderate staff. I wouldn't go back cold fries and all.

Doug H.

Yelp
If you love hotdogs dressed in a variety of toppings then you need to visit JJ's. Get a two dog combo and enjoy your favorites like the Carolina style or Chicago dog. They'll dress them however you like yours. Side are great - best tots I've had in Charlotte and the onion rings are sweet and crispy. Staff does a great job helping first timers out and they are constantly keeping the place clean. Dogs aren't the only thing but clearly they've mastered the craft.

Marina N.

Yelp
JJ's Red Hots coming in hotttttttt on a Tuesday! On Tuesdays, they have $2 signature dogs and $10 for a build your own 4 pack to go. The hot dogs tasted really good and were loaded! I got The Southern Girl, I liked the lil bit of kick from their hot mustard combo'ed with the pimento cheese, bacon, and slaw. Staff was really friendly and completed to go orders efficiently outdoors and there were signs for social distancing, but yet no masks were worn... I would come back here again since the whole process was really quick and try the rest of their menu!

Kamilia L.

Yelp
If you've ever had a hot dog you'd be ecstatic. It's like the hotdog went to Glamor Shots! JJ's Is such a cult following. The doge' is layered in french schefon and gaudy feather boa of accurtamomts to tantalize the taste buds. They have your traditional flairs of ketchup, Mustard, Onion but if you're living on the wild side you can get Pimento, Legumes or Brisket. The dogs come in 2 sizes with additional such as chicken, chorizo, or bratwurst. I decided to try a specialty and a regular dog with chilli cheese tots. Bat your eyelashes and turn to the side cause that's the last cute face you'll have. These dogs are messy; pulled to the brim. It was such a fun experience I forgot people can see you. My dog was literally falling apart. I loved every minute of it. Almost thought I was 6 again. Fist full of dog, bite of tots and drink. This was going great until my friends advised that I missed the additional condiments bar. I was happy with my pickles spear sliver. Who knew there was a whole bar dedicated to additional items. Remeber, at Glamorgan shots theres always that person in the black hat or a tiara. I WAS TIARA girl. I loaded my plate with these sweet homemade pickles, and peppers that made my hotdog feel like It was the most beautiful girl in the world! Then I devoured it. Did I also negate to mention they have ice cream upfront. Yeah That part! It's a cute, hip trendy spot, grab a dog and chill with friends. However, if you're a Glamorous girl this is not the place for you. Go get in, get dirty, play ball!

Cheryl M.

Yelp
Motown 70s music playing. Good energy. People eating smiling and having a good time. Constant flow of people coming and going. The dogs are great! Lots and lots of toppings for any style you like. Whether you like Chicago style or NY style there's a dog here for you! I like the original location on East Blvd as opposed to the uptown location. Come in. Take a seat and try for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Marissa P.

Yelp
Not only is the rooftop absolutely adorable, but you can't beat the the quality of the food (not just the hotdogs!) And The Variety the menu! Obviously, a place that specializes in hot dogs he's going to knock that out of the park, but I was pleasantly surprised with how good the wings and the french fries were! Great location on a warm day and very affordable pricing.
