The Best Sushi Restaurants in the Twin Cities | Eater Twin Cities

"This snug Edina restaurant restaurant, located on the first floor of a concrete office park, serves some of the best lunch options in the metro. Start with an order of sushi — maybe a simple unagi roll served with simple, quality hamachi nigiri or ikura (salmon roe) on the side — but don’t overlook JK’s other dishes, which span from nourishing udon noodle soups to fresh poke bowls and gyoza." - Serena Maria Daniels

Food was quite delicious for the price. Service was fast even during the lunch rush. Everyone is friendly. Restaurant is clean and efficiently laid out. They bring food to your table, and you clean up after yourself.

Google
This place serves extremely good Japanese food. You order at the counter, get a ticket, and find a table. They bring your order out to your table, and you bus your own plates to a bin on the opposite end of the order counter. I had the a side of fried rice, no. 9 roll, salmon nigiri and tamago nigiri. Everything tasted freshly prepared with good ingredients and came out quickly. I also ordered 2 sandwiches to go because of how good my dine-in order was. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back.

Google
The best little lunch spot ever!!!! So fast, so cute, and seriously... So good! Bahn mi bun was so soft and fresh! Sushi, slapped!!!! SO FRESH! If they would have had wontons I would have cried, gyoza was good too! Wow!

Google
Was in Edina for the first time on business and this place is in the same office building as my office. They came highly recommended from the building manager and boy were they right. I've never had sushi before (don't eat seafood) and was happy to see they had other things besides sushi. I got the teriyaki chicken rice bowl and it was fantastic. Great taste, great portion, and great price. The food came out really fast and the folks who took our order and served us were really pleasant. I'll go back every time I am in town on business and told me wife about the place as soon as I ate there.

Google
The restaurant is easy to find with plenty of parking available. It serves authentic Japanese cuisine prepared by Japanese chefs. A great spot for professionals to enjoy lunch at an affordable price.

Google
One of my favorite places for lunch when I’m in the area. I always get their half udon and sushi roll. It’s such a good deal

Google
This is some place that I would love to come back to. It’s an amazing Japanese restaurant that’s situated at the bottom of an office building that’s easy for many workers to get to. The best part is that they have an option for salmon head! Not alot of places serve that. The service was pretty good for the size of the restaurant they have. And the atmosphere here is almost never busy and fairly quiet. Will decently come back here again.

Google
A very small but very efficiently run restaurant in the bottom floor of an office building! They are quick to get your food out, so perfect for lunch time. Prices are very good, portions are amazing. The ahi tuna was very flavorful and very fresh. The spicy chicken was excellent. The bread was fresh and perfect for this kind of sandwich. Tables are very small barely enough room for two people yet very accommodating. Service is fabulous and always with a smile!

Yelp
It took me 10 years to finally visit this place. It was actually recommended to me by another Yelp Elites, which is why I love the Yelp Elite community so much. We share tips and recommendations of so many places in the twin cities. They have limited business hours so with my prior inflexibility at work, it was difficult to make it here. I noticed that they do very well with the business lunch crowd. They got so many Japanese clients just during that short hour I was there. This place reminded me of the small mom and pop places in Japan. I love how authentic it felt. Every cut of fish on my dish was amazing. Plus they have taiyaki! Omg! The red bean fillings in the fish shaped cake was so satisfying at the end of my meal. I need to find time from work again to get here for lunch and you need to do that also!!! Can't wait!!!

Yelp
I've loved JK's table for over 12 years but as a NW suburbanite I don't get the opportunity to go there. My new job is less than 2 miles away so I thought this would be the perfect lunch. I always get the spicy tuna bowl. The flavors mesh well together and it's an explosion of flavor in your mouth. My only complaint is I feel the portion size has significantly decreased. Service was fast and courteous. They do have 2 designated spots for to go orders and I took advantage of that. They were packed with no seating inside.... But to be expected on a Friday around noon. I'll most likely return and try a bento box which looked amazing.
google avatar

Amintha R.

Yelp
A little off the beaten path you will find this lunch time gem. I didn't even notice it though I driven past it a million times. Sushi noodle deli sandwiches spot, that's a lot to say! I had the sushi bento box and it was delicious! The service is order at the counter and then find a seat. Food arrives pretty promptly. There isn't much of an atmosphere but you are there for the food not the setting. Another plus for me is that they had barley tea! It's one of my faves.
google avatar

Trina V.

Yelp
This inconspicuous spot in an office building may not look like much, but it offers delicious Japanese bentos, bowls, and sushi at a great price! I went in and got a jk bento with a spicy salmon roll and mackerel, and the roll was a pretty good size for 6 pieces, and came with meatballs and sides as well. I added a miso soup, and my friend and I shared some takoyaki (which was soft like the ones I had in Osaka) and wontons and it made for the perfect lunch. I love that it is a family and Japanese owned no frills spot. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you or you can order to go.

Yelp
Basic Japanese fares, portions are smalls, nothing out of the ordinary. Mainly for lunch meals , ingredients are limited , do not order Togo, the portions even smaller , they use small containers , like for kids, I did ordered Curry Karaage Chicken , it's $ 14 , the size was like for 4 years old to eat , quite ridiculously so small .
google avatar

Yelp
A hidden gem in the suburbs! Quality Japanese cuisine and is reasonably priced. They are located inside an office building. There is an ample amount of parking in the parking lot and has some seating inside the restaurant. It's a small place and can be very busy at times, but service is great and are quick with getting orders ready. One of my favorites is the spicy salmon sushi bowl. Also love the half udon and sushi roll deal as well for lunch. Always have a great experience here!

Daphne K.

Yelp
I got the nigiri combo and spicy tuna roll, the nigiri was great and i really recommend the spicy mayo - super flavor & delicious! The "crazy ken roll" was almost revolting and hard to finish, the inside soft shell crab was anything but soft, it was hard warm and hurt to eat it was so crunchy. the top of the roll had spicy tuna that was almost frozen and the combination of temperatures was unpleasant. The tuna overall had a very fishy taste and was just plain gross. The service was amazing and they were packed and did the best they could The restaurants tables seemed a bit too close together and almost felt like we were eating with the table next to us. I didn't mind this as much but some people may want a bit more privacy. The price was good, and i would give this place another try for redemption.

Yelp
I have been here twice now, once during the lunch rush and once in the late afternoon. If you have flexibility in the afternoon, definitely recommend that. Everything I had was super yummy, the first time was a sashimi special with salad, rice, and miso soup. The second time I got a sushi roll, half size udon combo. During the lunch rush there are a ton of people waiting for their orders and various levels of patience, but I felt like the staff was understanding and working hard to get things ready quickly. Servers are friendly and helpful. Ambience is casual but pleasant and simple. It actually makes me nostalgic for a neighborhood Japanese cafe in my area growing up. A water dispenser and cups in the back if you don't want a separate drink, but I love pairing my meal with mugicha. It's easy to bus your own table. Prices are pretty reasonable and there are a variety of combos. Can't wait to come back...probably in the afternoon.

Yelp
The food was really good. Found this restaurant through a Google search as I was craving sukiyaki udon. Taste very good. Wish they had longer hours :(
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of my favorite lesser known places. It's nestled in some kind of office building i believe and it has some of the best Spicy tuna i've ever had. The people who work there are friendly and the service is quite fast! From what i remember, the prices aren't bad whatsoever. it's small and quiet and clean. I absolutely recommend this place
google avatar

Yelp
The sushi is always fresh and service is great. No frills, bit of a "hole in the wall," but has the best sushi around.
google avatar

Yelp
Although you'd be forgiven for not being able to find this place at the bottom of a business office complex, JK's Table brings some great quality dishes to the fore. Food comes fast and is counter order with table service. The Sean roll was a great combination of tempura shrimp, fish, and spicy mayo done to near perfection. The pork belly banh mi did leave a little to be desired, but for the prices that you pay here... wow! This is one of the best values in town, no question. I'd highly recommend checking out JK's Table to get your sushi cravings quenched at a very reasonable price.
google avatar

Ingi E.

Yelp
The tastiest fast service sushi rolls and bowls! No frills environment here, it's all just focused on great food and reasonable pricing. I've eaten at the restaurant and picked up food at least a handful of times, with all going well every time. There's a big parking lot since JK's is at an office building!

Yelp
I went here today, and I had a rice bowl, and for the 'meat,' I selected Shrimp Tempura. The portion size was good, with a lot of rice. I added cucumber and ginger to my bowl, which I highly recommend you do. Otherwise, you ONLY get avocado, rice, and the meat plus sauce. The spicy sauce is AWESOME, however, the bowl is plain without adding a crunch of cucumber, and ginger for flavor. I recommend adding something else so it is more filling and has a better variety of flavors. You also have to pay extra for the add-ins FYI, but they were only $0.68 and $1.00. It was $13.00, which isn't too expensive regarding portion size, HOWEVER, they only gave me 2 shrimp.... 2! They took 2 shrimp and sliced it in half, like '4 bites'. This was quite upsetting. The bowl is like 90% rice if you don't get anything added. It was ready right when I got there, so that was good. Quick service as there was no line. The restaurant is super easy to access, with a lot of parking, and is only 5 minutes from my work which makes it convenient for me. I didn't eat inside, but it looks like it's sort of small, but still has a good amount of tables.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! unassuming and homey. It is located in an office building, but there are many different clientele that frequent the restaurant. I love that the restaurant have daily specials. I got the bento box with shrimp tempura roll. Everything was reasonably priced and tasted fresh! I forgot to take pictures of the food, but trust this will be a place I'll return to!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Whenever I have a day off during the week, we go there for lunch. The menu is expansive, and the restaurant is always clean.
google avatar

Yelp
Solid sushi made by people who care. But not great sushi, and it's in an office park, which feels odd.

Amy G.

Yelp
Most amazing spicy tuna bowl!!! I will go out of my way to get one. Friendly staff and fast service!
google avatar

Jen G.

Yelp
Came to visit family & this place was located next to the hotel I was staying at. Incredibly delicious sushi! It reminded me of a little family owned restaurant of Japan. Their udon and sushi is incredibly fresh and the prices are extremely reasonable. The owners are super friendly, you pay at the counter and there is take away or seating areas. We loved the place so much that my husband and I came 2 days in a row. The shop is hidden away in an Industrial parking area (JJ Keller) brown building. Honorable mentions: Udon with pork belly Eel unagi Sean Roll Spicy Tuna roll was a huge surprise for us*
google avatar

Liz P.

Yelp
Stopped in yesterday for pick up to go before the shut down started. Was greeted right away at the counter. Service was fast and friendly. Located in a business offices area with lots of parking available. Inside decor is nice and clean. Ordered #9 sushi roll, The Sean Sushi roll and some takoyaki to go. Nice to go presentation. All was fresh and delicious! Would love to come back and try some more items from the menu.
google avatar

Ed D.

Yelp
I had the Mighty Mickey roll that was large and delicious. The creamy texture of the avocado and crunch of the cucumber with the tempura shrimp, ahi tuna, and salmon was wonderful and fresh. However, the tempura shrimp was not crunchy and softened inside the roll. The sushi rice was not sticky so not sure if they were using sushi rice or if it was not properly prepared because it easily fell apart from the roll. The slices are so large that you need to cut them in half with a sharp knife so they fit in your mouth!

Yelp
I'm very grateful I work very close by to JK's Table. This is usually the first place I think of when I don't have a lunch for the day. I think most people in the Edina area think the same too, this place is packed around lunch. The rush is over around 1:00 pm so I'd recommend going around then if you can. If you're ordering to go, also try to phone in your order to save time. Especially if you're ordering sushi! Typically to go orders without sushi are ready super quickly! Also they've got reserved spots for to-go orders in the parking lot, woohoo! I've ordered several different items here are, but here are some notables (good and bad): - Spicy Fried Chicken Rice Bowl $8: spicy means SPICY! I honestly couldn't finish it because my mouth was on fire haha. And it the bowl was also kind of sadly filled and a ton of sauce - Iced Black Tea $2-3: good for plain black iced tea but I'd rather opt to one of their other pre-packaged drinks instead - Unagi Roll $4.90: great price, great roll - #9 Roll $10.00: ugh just so good! The service is AMAAZING! They're soooo sweet and friendly! I believe this is family owned, mom and pop. It definitely has that homey feel.

Yelp
とても美味しかった。We ordered a variety of items for my moms birthday. Everything was prepared so nicely and tasted amazing. I especially loved the saba roll because it was like nothing I've had before. The hand rolls were delicious and the sushi itself tasted fresh and was the perfect size. Definitely recommend checking JK's table out if you are a sushi fan.
google avatar

Ruki R.

Yelp
A few years later, JK's is still very good and friendly. I continue to visit on a regular basis, once or twice a month. I generally go after 1:00, so I'm typically the only person eating in, which is fine with me. As for the costs, sure, it's gone up, portions may be a bit smaller, but what with the pandemic and supply issues, this is reality. Historically, Japanese restaurants have always been more expensive in the U.S. because of import taxes.

Michael O.

Yelp
Long time lover of this place. Great vibe and even better sushi/poke. Super affordable, amazing service 24/7, perfect lunch spot
google avatar

Charles T.

Yelp
The poke is absolutely incredible. Best I've ever had! The homemade spicy mayo is perfectly seasoned, and I love that the rice isn't too warm - a lot of poke places give piping hot rice and it makes the fish taste off. JK's is consistently great with all of their ingredients.
google avatar

Lindsey H.

Yelp
JK's Table is a go to lunch spot for most people in my office & for good reason. My go to is the spicy sushi veggie bowl as I'm not a huge fan of seafood, but I've heard amazing things about most items on the menu. There isn't a ton of seating, so I usually order online and take it to go - their online ordering is super simple
google avatar

Kong L.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! I arrived to an office park. I thought that the gps had pointed me in the wrong direction. I went in and eventually found the restaurant. It was located inside of an office building. It's a lot smaller than it looks through the photos on yelp. The place was packed but I could tell that service was great! I was quote impressed how fast the food came out. I got a bowl of udon noodles and side of special sushi. Both were amazing! I'm not even kidding, this was probably the best udon noodle soup that I've had in the states. It was just the right amount, perfect topping, and consistent broth. I finished my bowl along with the sushi. The sushi was fresh and the fish melted in my mouth. Holy cow! or should I say "Holy fish"! Amazing customer service. Everyone was really kind with a small on their faces.
google avatar

Yelp
Best sushi in Bloomington. If there is a better one, I have not found it. I wish this was open in the evenings.
google avatar

Paul M.

Yelp
SO GOOD!!! Junko and Kuma's place is the best! great food, fair prices... a hidden gem!
google avatar

Lucy N.

Yelp
I have been meaning to try this place for a while. It's in the middle of Edina in an office building right off hwy 100! It is open during the week days from 8-3 so hard to make a stop here normally. I found myself craving a poké bowl in the mid morning hours and called them to make sure they served sushi that early (9:30am) and they sure do! I stopped in, ordered at the counter and no longer than 5 minutes later was my bowl ready to go. It was delicious and fresh . The owner is so kind and definitely there to please her customer. I can't wait to visit again
google avatar

Jack L.

Yelp
The food is certainly very good here. But once I factor in the cost, the portion of the food, and the self service, the value is actually very low.
google avatar

Kaosong Y.

Yelp
Maybe because of the reviews I've seen my expectations were set too high so I was a bit disappointed. I would give it 3.5 stars for the food but the service was quite pleasant so I rounded up. I had the hot fried chicken sandwich and it was good but not out of this world. The bun was substantial and held the sandwich together quite well but the chicken was still a little too salty (and I like salty) for my taste. I also had the spicy salmon roll; which is my staple at all sushi places that I go to. This one was good. The right amount of everything and it included avocado. The rice was a pleasant flavor--not too vinegary. I arrived close to 2p on a Wednesday and it was pretty empty but the place was clean and had a cafeteria like setting. You order at the counter, pick a table and the staff brings your order out to your table.

Yelp
JK's Table is my FAVORITE Japanese restaurant in Minnesota!! The food is soo good, but the only thing is that its only open Monday thru Friday for lunch time The ppl who work in the Edina area or live nearby are sooo lucky that they can eat here often I only get to visit here every couple of months, but it is always SUCH a treat!! I love the food so much!! The curry udon noodles are my favorite! there no where else in the Twin cities to find udon noodles like these!! Soo good Sushi here is great and good price too. I love spicy tuna and california roll Sandwiches are awesome! gyoza is great. everything I eat here is perfect And the peoples here are SO friendly too! what a great place! i am happy

Anonymous A.

Yelp
Amazing Japanese food, authentic- coming from a Japanese person. Super easy and quick, and reasonable prices. Highly recommend the udon.
google avatar

Yana P.

Yelp
Got the spicy tuna bowl (subbed salmon) and it was very spicy! Spice on the salmon, pepper flakes and mayo. But it was still really good. More spice than I'm used to. You get a good amount for your buck. I wish there was more choices and more add ins to the bowl like other places have. It is located in an office building so when you drive to the big tan building you're going the right way. There's a small open light flickering when you get closer.
google avatar

Gary L.

Yelp
I have been sheltered in for a couple of months and have been craving good sushi and not from the supermarket. I ordered takeout from JK's table online. I paid for the order and at a specified time I picked it up. As always the sushi was wonderful. I'm happy to support my local restaurants while they are closed for anything other than takeout. I love this little place!
google avatar

Kara D.

Yelp
I imagine JK's Table is a nice little treat to the employees of the random business building it's located in. Seriously, so random, JK's Table is on the ground floor of an office building that is only identified by the other office building next to it. Ha. I like random, though. The decor is modest but clean. The space is a little narrow, but well-lit and not overcrowded. You order at the counter (check out their specials poster), get a number, and then they bring your food over - pretty swiftly too! We tried the JK's Poke Don, #9 roll, sake roll, unagi roll, shrimp tempura udon noodle soup (mostly because it was national noodle day!), and a side garden salad. This was plenty to feed our group of 3, and the pricing was very reasonable. If I could itemize the star-age here, I'd say food is 3.5, service is 5, and value is 5. Everything we ordered was good, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way for it. We ordered "spicy" heat levels but it was MN spicy. The unagi roll was perfect and I loved having all of the menu options, though! Nikki M accidentally ate the whole wad of wasabi and that was great entertainment!

Yelp
Great local spot, everything tastes super fresh, the Banh Mi is amazing, I have not had one item I did not enjoy yet, lots of parking and kind of a private location away from main roads. Also the sushi is definitely worth a try! I have been back multiple times and will continue to eat here for many years to come!

Emma V.

Yelp
Slightly tucked away, this place has amazing food and the owners are the nicest people. Food comes out pretty fast and is always gorgeous and mouth watering delicious. Would eat here everyday if I could

M W.

Yelp
Among the best sushi that I have had in the local area. Not pretentious, just good quality. I'm giving this 4 stars only because I want to set this apart from really high end sushi that I have had in places like New York and LA. This is excellent for what it is (small stand in an office park) and for where it is (far from any ocean). I only wish that they were open outside of office building business hours and were in a more convenient location.
google avatar

Lindsay L.

Yelp
Great place to stop for a quick lunch! Small- about 10 tables. Walk up service. Menu had fish/ poke bowls, rice bowls, sushi, bahn mi, and American sandwiches. All under $10! Us 3 ordered a poke bowl, fried chicken rice bowl, chicken bahn mi, and goyza! Fried chicken bowl- rice, cabbage, veggies, fried chicken and delicious sauce! 9/10! Bahn mi- great bread, nice pickled jalapeño , nice sliced chicken . 7/10 - great sandwich but lacking some flavor Poke bowls - so fresh! Delicious! Rice, spinach , avocado, mango, fresh tuna, sauce- 8/10 great fresh dish I am excited to try this place out again! Great small family run place!

Danelle M.

Yelp
Delicious food, unique bento box options, and great customer service!! I wish they were open on weekends.

Yelp
You know when you find a place that just can't fail? That's JK's Table. I've been here just a couple of times now and everything I've tried so far has been absolutely phenomenal. The Food - Y.U.M. I have tried a couple of the poke bowls now and they're pretty dang good. The regular bowl is super yummy all on its own, but I strongly recommend trying the poke don instead. The spring mix on top is great and refreshing, plus now your bowl is a salad so it's healthy. The Service - I love this fast-casual style restaurant. You order at the counter, they hand you a number and your food is delivered. Everything is done fresh AND fast, so I'm pretty much blown away by that. The Atmosphere - It's pretty bland, but since you're literally inside an office building I don't know what to expect. There's plenty of comfortable seating and lots of windows for natural light. For a quick, cheap and easy lunch place that is totally fine for me. Maybe just don't go for a first date? Love this mystery find here in the Edina area, and I'm already planning my next trip back!

Yelp
A good hole in the wall place with great tasting Japanese food, and sandwiches. Quick, good service. The bad news is they are only open for lunch, Mon-Fri. I had the Spicy Tuna Sushi Bowl ($8). It definitely had a kick to it but not over the top. It came with avocados, tomatoes, tuna, rice and a zesty sauce with a little bit of kick. I'd have it again but they have many different items on the menu I'd also like to try.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
I come here fairly often...they are always consistent each and every time. I usually go for the spicy chicken rice bowl...it's simple, but delicious. I'm pretty limited here, since I'm allergic to seafood. But I did tried other things on the menu, such as banh mi (it's not good, btw). My BF normally gets the spicy tuna rice bowl, but this time got few rolls of sushi. He said it's fresh and taste really good. If you have cravings for Japanese food, and don't want to drive into the city...give this place a try.

Yelp
I've been craving some poke and since CA is a little too far for me to drive to, I definitely took to Yelp for the nearest Poke spot. JK's Table was one of the places that came up and it wasn't too far from me so I definitely had to stop in for my poke fix. I ordered the Spicy tuna bowl and the Poke Don Go. The Spicy Tuna Bowl was actually quite good and definitely had a kick to it. They put just enough unagi sauce for a little bit of sweetness and the perfect amount of tempura flakes for a crunch in every bite. I really enjoyed it and it definitely did satisfy my poke craving. The Poke Don Go was alright. I just had a few pieces and then gave it to the boyfriend. Their tuna definitely seems fresh. I barely saw any connective tissue in their tuna. I must also say that their portions are decent. Its not overly generous or leaving you hungry but enough to satisfy you.
google avatar

Emily R.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! If I could come here everyday I would. It's a small restaurant in a big corporate building. They have everything from sushi to sandwiches for a reasonable price. I can only vouch for the Udon Noodle Soup and the Spicy Tuna Bowl but I'm obsessed. I typically come here every Friday for lunch and get the spicy tuna bowl. The spicy tuna bowl is huge. I want to say it's roughly the size of three spicy tuna rolls with avocado and a spicy shrimp sauce. Just a heads up: *They are only open during business hours *In the evening they are only open for pre made orders to go *You can call in your order and they'll have it ready for you when you arrive!
google avatar

Alicea I.

Yelp
Favorite place to have for lunch. Always my go-to. The poke bowls are delicious! It's one of the best I've had in MN. The service is great but the building is pretty confusing if you don't know where you are.
