United Airlines Is Launching New Nonstop Routes to Morocco, the Philippines, and Colombia

"Meryanne Loum-Martin, whose boutique hotel, Jnane Tamsna, a preferred hideaway for artists and writers in the Palmeraie, suggests spending a day in Marrakesh by first having breakfast in the medina, shopping in Sidi Ghanem in the afternoon, and visiting the Dar El Bacha-Musée des Confluences museum before savoring local flavors at Dar Zellij for dinner."

Meet Meryanne Loum-Martin, Morocco's Female Owner Behind MICHELIN Guide Hotel Jnane Tamsna

"In the heart of Marrakesh's Palmeraie district stands MICHELIN Guide Hotels property Jnane Tamsna, a meticulously curated oasis, and testament to the vision of Meryanne Loum-Martin, a pioneering Black female hotelier. For over two decades, she has carefully blended ancient Moroccan allure with modern elegance, fashioning a retreat just moments away from the city's vibrant medina where luminaries like Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, David Bowie, Iman, Giorgio Armani, Donna Karan, and other influential figures have all found refuge." - Ty Gaskins

"In the Palmerie neighborhood outside of town, ethno-botanist Gary Martin and his wife, interior designer Meryanne Loum-Martin, have created a fairytale oasis—whose name translates to “big garden”—with five houses, five pools, and beautiful green spaces spread over nine lush acres. Set in three different villas, the 24 uniquely designed, boho-chic rooms range from the Small (which can be tight and somewhat dark) to the more spacious Standard, Large, Garden, and Pavilion options, which feature plenty of light and perks like fireplaces, terraces, king beds, and artisan details. When not lounging around one of the pools, guests can play a set on the clay tennis courts, wander around the botanical gardens, take a Moroccan cooking class with Chef Bahija, or explore the surrounding area by bike, vintage sidecar, or camel. Kids are more than welcome here and can look forward to such programming as calligraphy and magic classes, while adults can expect in-room massages and outdoor yoga classes. Breakfast is included in the room rate and, like all meals, can be enjoyed in various spaces around the hotel. Dinner is particularly magical when served underneath countless glowing lanterns."

I spent four wonderful nights at Jnane Tamsna and was completely enchanted. Tucked away in the Palmeraie, the hotel blends peaceful gardens, elegant design, and warm Moroccan hospitality. ||My room was stylish and serene, meals were fresh and flavorful, and the staff made me feel truly at home. It’s more than a hotel—it’s a soulful retreat that invites rest, reflection, and inspiration. I can’t wait to return.||If you are planning a visit to Marrakech, Morroco don't let this Tranquil Oasis pass you by!

As a Moroccan from the Southeast, currently residing between Marrakech and Tangier, I've had the pleasure of visiting many luxury accommodations, including villas and riads. However, nothing I've experienced compares to the magical oasis that is Riad Jnane Tamsna.||||Meryanne Loum-Martin, the visionary designer behind this piece of heaven, possesses a truly special touch. She elevates Moroccan handicrafts to an exquisite level, and simply stepping into the riad allows visitors to immediately feel its unique vibe, spirit, and energy. Meryanne's strong character and charisma also contribute significantly to the riad's high-class atmosphere and positive energy.||||The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming.||||And the food? A truly magical experience.||||Thank you for hosting us and sharing this wonderful experience.

Our girls trip to Marrakech was unforgettable! The hotel is beautiful and the food was delicious. I loved relaxing in the cafe & bar which was full of books, beautiful art (and rugs) and a gorgeous fireplace. From the first time we contacted the concierge until we left for our return flight, we received great care and service. Qualid was attentive, flexible, and accommodating. He understood our desire for a mix of relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion, tailoring our itinerary to perfection. We had such a great time and enjoyed every moment!

This is a fabulous hotel a short taxi ride from Marrakesh. Wonderful, helpful staff, really good family villas, good food, lovely gardens and several swimming pools. The owner is charming and everyone goes out of their way to be as helpful as possible. A really authentic Moroccan experience, ideal for families with children. You’d be hard pushed to find fault with it. Highly recommended.

✨ Overall Experience This resort is a true gem in Marrakesh. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed into an atmosphere of calm, authenticity, and beauty. The entire place has a grounded, peaceful energy — it feels like an escape from time. If you’re looking for a space to reset, connect with nature, and enjoy meaningful hospitality, this is it. 🌿 Atmosphere & Nature The surrounding nature and garden are simply stunning — vibrant, serene, and clearly nurtured with love and care. Everything feels alive, fresh, and in harmony. Whether you’re wandering through the garden paths or just sitting quietly under a tree, or by the pools there’s a strong sense of calm that stays with you. 🌱 Sustainability One of the most impressive aspects of this resort is their commitment to sustainability. It’s clear the owners have gone to great lengths to build and maintain a place that respects the environment. From eco-conscious design to mindful daily practices, the sustainability focus adds real depth to the experience. It’s inspiring and rare. 🏡 Cleanliness & Comfort Every corner of the resort is impeccably clean and beautifully maintained. It’s fresh, airy, and comfortable in a way that feels effortless. There’s a genuine authenticity in the design that reflects Moroccan tradition without sacrificing comfort. 💛 Hospitality The owners are incredibly kind, warm, and attentive without ever being overbearing. Their care for the guests and the space is evident in every detail. You feel like a welcomed friend, not just a customer. 🍽️ Food The food was good and nourishing — fresh ingredients and a thoughtful presentation. While it may not have been the standout highlight of the stay for me, it was still enjoyable and in line with the calm, homegrown vibe of the place.

The photographs are indeed accurate—the place is undeniably beautiful and tastefully decorated. However, it falls far short of what one would reasonably expect from a luxury hotel. We leave with the distinct impression that the primary aim is to capitalise on the tourist rather than to offer a truly refined experience.||Drawbacks:|The location is remarkably inconvenient—30 minutes from virtually anywhere. We ended up spending €100 per day on taxis (€25 per ride into town, €45 to the airport), not to mention the added hassle of pre-arranging transport and constantly watching the clock.|As for the much-promoted notion of 'simple luxury' Regrettably, what we experienced leaned |The hotel claims to offer “simple luxury,” yet the experience feels more sparse than elegant:|In room amenities were minimal to the point of being perfunctory: merely shampoo and shower gel, no body lotion, conditioner, or any additional touches one would reasonably expect.|Breakfast was particularly underwhelming while the fresh orange juice was indeed a delight, the rest of the offering was surprisingly spartan. There is no fresh fruit, only a basic fruit salad (apple, kiwi, banana). The jam is industrial, the salads are pre-packaged (à la Florette), and only accompanied by tomato and cucumber. No charcuterie, merely a rather unpleasant ham and a mediocre cheese. Pastry selection is limited to four types of Moroccan bread, croissants, and pancakes. Eggs are offered only upon request—fried or scrambled.|We dined at the hotel on our first evening and were thoroughly disappointed, particularly considering the €50 per person price tag.||In summary, if one is to charge premium rates, a certain level of quality must be delivered. The intent to remain modest due to the surrounding socioeconomic context is understandable, but it does not justify neglecting basic standards of comfort and service. Luxury need not be ostentatious, but it must, at the very least, be thoughtful and complete.

*Disclaimer* The setting is beautiful, and we were initially impressed when a staff member kindly gave us a tour of the grounds. However, as we were walking back to our sunbed after what had been a lovely tour, the owner suddenly approached and publicly scolded the staff member for showing “day visitors” a route that apparently wasn’t meant for us. It was an incredibly awkward and uncomfortable moment that made us feel unwelcome and out of place. Being treated that way by the owner herself made it all the more disappointing. What started as a pleasant experience was unfortunately overshadowed, leaving a sour taste for the rest of the day.||It’s clear the hotel doesn’t truly value or welcome day pass visitors. For a more respectful and enjoyable experience, I would recommend Beldi Country Club or Farasha Farmhouse instead.

We spent our last day of 6 in Marrakesh here, enjoying the excellent pool and lunch package before our evening flight. 400 MAD gets you access to this beautiful place, a bed by the pool, a wonderful warm welcome, attentive service and a first class lunch. Ouelid was incredibly accommodating and organised our shuttle back to the airport. The best possible end to an incredible stay in Marrakesh
