Google
Great slice of NY style pizza. One of my slices had just come out of the oven, so it was a bit underbaked since they “par-bake” to be able to warm up when you order. Other slice was perfect. Great bite, excellent chew on the crust, firm crispy bottom. Would eat here anytime I’m back in town.

Google
Great, friendly service, fast prep, and the pizza was dang good. Thin Crisp crust, good amount of cheese, and the sauce was tangy and flavorful. Hardly any grease on the cheese pizza, I'll happily come back!

Google
Great spot! Found on accident while walking downtown Richmond visiting family. The smell of garlic hits just right when you're walking by. Everything was great. JoJo was awesome! Great service, Even better pizza. The crust? Amazing. Perfect combination of crunch and chew. When I come back to Richmond, this will be my go to pizza joint. Couldn't leave a picture because we ate the whole thing! They are busy, freshly and constantly making pizza to order. Be kind, have patience, you will be thankful later!

Peter Young

Google
Really good pizza. Would definitely go back.

Google
Stopped in after going to a museum. I haven't had good NY Pizza Pie since the island. It was a little bit smaller than a traditional slice from the island but the taste was pretty good. I would highly recommend if you are craving a NY Pie or a slice. Picture does it no justice.

Google
This was a delight! A good slice of pizza! I love the nyc vibe in there. A mixing pot of ppl inside eating pizza. Quick and pleasant service. I recommend eating here.

Joe Mekaeil

Google
Owner is nice but the pizza is below average and the pricing is on the higher side. To someone used to NY pizza, it's clear that poor quality/ cheap ingredients are used here. The crust is VERY light in color and too soft (flour protein too low). Sauce is not great - the Italian seasoning/oregano makes it taste similar to frozen. Cheese doesn't melt well - probably uses pre-shredded. You have to know what you're doing and you have to use the right quality ingredients to justify this pricing.

Google
Man great pizza and great service everyone was a pleasure to talk to and the pizza comes out fast highly recommended!

Yelp
The place gets packed at lunch and not much room to wait for your order, but the price is right and it's still relatively quick. I normally get the pizza special, which includes 2 slices and a fountain drink for under $10. Plenty of choices for pizza toppings, today I went with Spinach/Feta and a Pepperoni. I think the sausage and peppers is probably my favorite, but the pepperoni is good too. They have plenty of tables/stools if you want to eat in, but I think most people take their slices to go. Be ready to pay when you get to the cash register because this place stays hopping and the dude checking people out doesn't have time to wait! Relatively quick service, consistent pizza and under $10 downtown makes it a decent fl choice for lunch.

Yelp
I love JoJos the ambiance is bright and the staff is amazing. Service is quick fast considering it's usually busy. Best pizza downtown. Well prepared and delicious.

Tasnim A.

Yelp
Was not a fan of the chicken on the pizza as it had a weird texture and the veggie pizza was really just bell peppers and onions which on its own wasn't very appetizing.
google avatar

Grace M.

Yelp
Hot and fresh! The pizza was cheesy and delicious. The service was fast even during the lunch hour. I will definitely be coming back to try more.

Yelp
Jo-Jo is so attractive, pizza is great. What else do you need folks! Nothing like a little yell to get the blood pumping

Yelp
Best pizza in Richmond in my opinion. This is my weekly or more frequent lunch spot. I can no longer eat pizza from those chains!! Love this place and a customer for life!

Kaiya C.

Yelp
An old school RVA classic. I used to come here when I was younger a decade ago with my parent on their lunch break. Great specials and prices. They oven-fire whatever you'd like, I usually do to-go. They didn't have it up front, but they added broccoli on my pizza, I remember they used to have that in the case I'm glad I asked. Nice service and inside looks how it did years ago.

Brian G.

Yelp
Excellent pizza! Price is right! Super service! I would recommend trying the white pizza, too.

Kelley M.

Yelp
Worst pizza ever, the crust was so soggy & mushy I didn't enjoy the pizza, what a waste of $30

Haley K.

Yelp
We LOVE JoJo's! Great food, awesome staff! We order often for our office staff! They are always sooooo nice and prompt! Definitely a must have if your in the richmond area or midlothian!

Yelp
I don't think I've declared any pizza the "best NY-style in Richmond" just yet. But if I did, ignore the sentiment, because this spot is the real deal. The pizza here is perfectly crisp, not too thick but not flimsy either, with only a small bit of grease. It's better than boardwalk pizza. And, frankly, if I still lived in South Jersey surrounded by outstanding pizza joints, Jo-Jo's would still have a place in my rotation. Get the pepperoni. Or the plain. Or any of them. I've yet to try a substandard slice. I also tried a cheesesteak hoagie here the other day, but was brought back to the South when I ordered it as such and the response was, "You mean a steak and cheese sub?" It was on the smaller side but the bread was delicious and the steak was perfectly prepared. I'd order it again for sure but honestly will never call it a steak and cheese. Too much change for this girl. My only 'complaint' would be this: Their hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. At no point will I want pizza at 9 in the morning. But walking home from work at 5? I'd totally stop in if I could. If they could adjust their hours to 11 to 7, or even 10 to 6, they could catch some of the dinner crowd, too. But, as it stands, I'll continue to walk over during my lunch hour for a delectable slice of quality pie or a savory sandwich.

Yelp
When ever I get a chance I'm stopping at jo jos That's the easy decision The hard decision is what to order! This time was a slice and eggplant parm sub Next time will be worse as I'm already craving both Need to get to jo jos more !

Yelp
Wow, just wow! Had their meat lovers pizza and it was really good. Was a medium style crust, not pan or thin. Toppings and sauce were really flavorful and tasted great. There is a decent amount of crust, but not too much. If u like crust, then there is enough to enjoy and if u don't it's not too much to ruin the pizza. I wanted to scarf the whole small pizza, but saved two servings for later. The restaurant is small with not too much seating and the area is a business spot. The small, 12" meat lovers cost $16.49 and about $18+ change with tax on this visit. This price is actually cheaper than the local place we go to back home, but back home is even better, bigger, and pan crust. So for the area and all things considered, the price is about right even though it is a lot. Further, most of the major chain pizza places in the area are not close and are rated around 2 stars due to poor service and cleanliness. So Jo Jo's is a good deal if u r downtown. There is some homelessness in the area but not near the restaurant on my visit. Ordered take out and it was ready when I got there 30 min after ordering, was quoted 20 min--think they prob got it done in about 20. The register guy (same guy who took the phone order?) is a gruff east coast style guy (might have had a NYC or similar accent), but he was friendly in that east coast style. If ever in the area again would want to try their calzones and Stromboli's. On this visit, the downtown location was not taking internet orders (only the south location was, hence my phone order). Definitely recommend this place and will return if in the area again.

Yelp
Great family friendly place. Good food, better company. I had the antipasto salad "chef's kiss" and a pepperoni pizza ,along with a glass of moscato. 10/10.

Yelp
KC has long since dumped him and rejoined the Sunshine Band, but Jo-Jo is still going strong, and these are the times he's selling pizza. If it's Richmond's best, then like DC, Richmond Pizza doesn't doo much for me, but it wasn't awful. I'd say it was okay, ish. My travel buddy girl thought it was yum but she likes all pizza. The service was nice. The guy working here is super friendly and has covered his store in all kinds of New York pictures, and I appreciate that, yo. Give it a try if you love pizza and see if you're more into it than I was.

Yelp
I stopped in for a few slices based on reviews on a recent visit to Richmond. First off, this place speaks to those of us who long for an honest NY style pie. Jo-Jo's does not disappoint. Tried cheese and pepperoni along with some amazing garlic knots. Their sauce really stands out. No surprise that the owner is a great hardworking guy from Brooklyn. Don't miss out on hitting this place up for some excellent pizza.

Yelp
If you're in downtown Richmond, this is a great little place with reasonably priced New York style slices and quite a few topping options. This isn't high end NY pizza, it's the type of place you have on seemingly every corner in NYC which would have bagels & breakfast sandwiches in the morning, and solid slices to throw in the oven and heat up for lunch, dinner, and probably late-night. Here they do have sandwiches but I have to think most come for the pizza. The price is right, the service is friendly, the crust is decent, and the cheese & toppings are pretty high quality & tasty. You enter, review the pizza options, place your order, pay, then pick up or have it delivered to your table a few minutes later. Nothing fancy, but quite good - I've certainly had better but I've also had MUCH worse pizza in New York so I'm definitely a fan. Good New York style slices in Richmond, what's not to like?

Tim K.

Yelp
There are many good pizza joints in Richmond and in Midlothian Jo-Jos is the best hands down. Best taste, best value. Traditional locally owned pizza joint. You walk in and see the owner's hustling in the kitchen and the dining area. You can smell how good it is from the parking lot. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Yelp
Had a chance to try this wonderful place while making a trip to FedEx after my VA appointment and let me tell you! I was not disappointed, most likely the best slice I've ever tried out of NYC. From the Dough to the sauce, everything just taste to perfection and I also met the owner and he's such a wonderful, hard working person. I will definitely be making jo-Jo's my place to go whenever I find myself in Richmond for sure.

Skyla G.

Yelp
This place is great. There is great customer service and the food is delicious. I got the sub daily special and is was great, the only thing is the bread was a little crispy.
google avatar

Claudia W.

Yelp
Local Richmond pizza chain that knocked it out of the park for me and my 50 students. This place will go under if we don't figure out how to support small businesses suffering from COVID. I'm asking you to go here and spend your money. Save this 21 year old business!

Yelp
My family was touring our state capital and needed a quick place for lunch. This place hit the spot! Reasonably priced. Delicious pizza. Friendly staff. I would definitely come here again the next time I'm in Richmond. Pizza with a smile! The restaurant was clean. There was a good amount of seating.

Jerry B.

Yelp
Good pizza. Good Stromboli. Nice guy! Easy to walk to location downtown. Gets pretty crowded between 12-1:00 but they keep people moving through at a steady pace.

Yelp
I was surprised to find such a place in downtown Richmond, VA and then again I wasn't as VCU is nearby. Perfect pizza crust and sauce goes into every pizza. Best of all, speed of order. Your go-to place in downtown Richmond for pizza and subs.
google avatar

Tony A.

Yelp
((((((((( TWO PEPPERONI TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!)))))) the sonic boom hits you. It's not the sound barrier breaking it's just the order being called out. It's quiet now. You place your order and scoot your butt down the line to the cash register. Cash is always welcome and my preferred method of payment at Jo-Jo's "Famous" Pizza. The crust is thin, the selection is plentiful, and the flavor is dead on. They say it's the closest to New York style pizza in all of Richmond. I've been to New York but I didn't get the chance to try what a real pie should taste like. So, I'll just have to take your word for it. I'm a sucker for the tomato garlic and the broccoli. I always say I'm going to try the sausage but when it comes time to order I blurt out "tomato garlic!" and scoot my butt down the line. What's left to say? They offer affordable great tasting pizza and there is always a line during lunch. In 2008 my lunch crew used to walk all the way from 3rd and Franklin just for a slice. When old colleagues hear that I work next to this place they ask if we can meet for lunch. Jo-Jo's has quite the following. I'm definitely a fan.

Yelp
Please refer to my original review for more detail. *Update: Since my initial review that I wrote after visiting 2 or 3 times, I've returned here for lunch close to 30 or 40 times. Jojo's has become my choice pizza place for lunch as I work downtown, and honestly is probably one of my favorite pizza places in all of Richmond. I've since tried many of their pizza flavors, including Hawaiian, Buffalo Chicken, Barbeque Chicken, Steak, Pepper and Onions, Veggie, Supreme (has to be ordered as a whole pizza I believe), Pepperoni, and Cheese. I've also tried their Steak and Cheese and fries. If something looks good to you on the counter, get it, it probably is good. My favorites are the Buffalo Chicken and Supreme. The first few times I ate here, around my initial review, I found the pizza dough kind of bready, but since then it has been perfect. That alone was pretty much what was holding back the 5, but as I haven't really noticed since, I can't still say it's a problem. Also, if you can come around 1:30 PM (my new lunch time), there will still be a handful of options to choose from with little to no crowd. Win-win. There may be better places to get a gourmet pizza or elegant dinner, but if you're in the mood to spend $6 for a couple large slices of delicious pizza, be sure to check out Jojo's/

Yelp
I've been meaning to get to Jo-Jo's for months but its hours of operation have been tough to plan around. Open 9-5 M-F. I finally had the right combination of tasks too accomplish in the area that helped me make it for lunch. It was very busy and definitely seemed like a staple within the downtown lunch scene. A friend of mine had gone a few months ago and said it was a pretty solid slice. I tried a slice of pepperoni and a slice of buffalo. The buffalo slice was under-cooked and still soft and doughy. The pepperoni slice cooked through better and had some crunch to the crust but still not as much as I'd like. The flavors and portions were pretty good. I have to admit that coming from the NY area makes me a hard person to win over. Still, I want to try it again. Maybe outside of rush hours.
google avatar

Julian M.

Yelp
Nice, simple place for lunch with good food and reasonable prices ex, the pizza special (two giant pieces of pizza and a drink for 7.50) is one that you would not expect from a place in a crowded area. Jo-Jo's is close to the capital and other frequent places of travel and is a refreshing break from the city craziness
google avatar

Grace M.

Yelp
Ambiance is irrelevant. You come for the slices of yum. Pizza is delicious! Move 'em out NY style pizza. Office dweller's fave, and literally so cheap! Pizza by the slice, displayed in the case, heated up for you in the oven. The guys are friendly with a touch of that "let's go, let's go!" northern mindset, which is about all the New York we need in downtown RVA. (~chuckle~) It's the kind of place where everyone is treated like a regular. Come have a slice or two. You'll love it!
google avatar

Yelp
Can I give zero stars for customer service? I was visiting from out of town at a popular destination about 1 mile away so I figured the business would be familiar with the area they serve. They asked for an exact address - no problem but since I am from out of town - I unfortunately did not know my exact address. So I quickly looked it up and as I was about to talk to the phone operator he was so RUDE - it was comical at this point. The total call was 1 min (attached) so it is not like I was trying to waste their time. Yes even in 2019 patience & customer service matters and that employee has little to none. Sorry but I won't be spoken to rudely before I give $25 + of my business. Their loss & I would not recommend them if you are going to call in - order online Yelpers!

Alex R.

Yelp
The pizza is pretty basic. Locals are really into it but I found the dirty restaurant and curt borderline rude customer service off putting. Don't worry if there is a line for they do move it quickly.
google avatar

Rich G.

Yelp
Re-heated slices of pizza. Nothing to write home about. I tried it for lunch today and was underwhelmed. The crust they use is not quite right. It's shaped like NY style pizza, but it just doesn't taste quite right. Bland and bready. Having it reheated instead of fresh out the oven definitely diminishes the taste and texture. I'll try again sometime when they have higher turnover.
google avatar

Brandon H.

Yelp
The *ONLY* legit New York style Pizza in Richmond. After trying dozens of RVA pizza places my whole life I thought it didn't exist but it definitely does. Big slices, crispy bottom, good sauce, oregano, just the right amount of cheese--no idea why so many places in Richmond fail but they nailed it. Only knock is they close at 5! If they stayed open until at least 6 or 7 they would kill the competition with Pizza for dinner. If you order delivery $25 or more before 5 you can make it pass for an early dinner. Just glad this place exists
google avatar

Doug C.

Yelp
I dunno why I haven't written a review for this place, so here it goes. Jo-Jo's is about the closest you're going to find to an NYC-style pizza place in Richmond. Don't get me wrong - there's nothing in Richmond that is as good as a true NYC pizza - but this is one of the very best. It's generally pre-made (as in, they made it 30 minutes ago) and reheated slices, which are, honestly, my favorite. You end up with a crispier crust and just-out-of-the-oven freshness. I've had their sandwiches in here once or twice too, and they are solid. The pizza is delicious, staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is... well, what they didn't spend on decorations amounts to savings in your pocket. If I had any complaint - and, I mean, any at all - it would be their hours. 9-5 M-F is a strange set of hours for any restaurant, especially one that doesn't serve breakfast or dinner. I'm sure people have come in on Monday at 9 AM to get pizza, but I would guess it's more rare than not. And, by closing at 5 PM, they lose a lot of that after-work takeout business... business I would be more than willing to give them at least once or twice a month (even though I don't work down there any longer!). Shifting it 2 hours later would just be better for everyone.

Yelp
There is no doubt in my mind that this is the best, most honest-to-god authentic pizza in Richmond. Probably in Virginia. Also, their subs are fantastic. I have to hit this place up at least once a week for a couple cheese slices or else a steak sub and fries. Not only is it the most delicious lunch choice downtown, it's also the best value. Plus - as if I needed to go on - the staff is cool and very friendly. Just don't hem and haw and act like a princess, because the owner is a no-nonsense dude. I completely love him. Lunch hours only and only on weekdays - sigh, but what can they do? There isn't enough hungry traffic in downtown Richmond to support them at night. So - everyone please move downtown - you'll save on commuting and tolls! - and then we can have Jo Jo's anytime we (I) want.
google avatar

Richie W.

Yelp
Pretty good. $6.99 lunch special gets you 2 slices of pizza and a soda. There are several options to choose from; the majority being one topping. You tell them what you want then they put it in the oven for 5 minutes to heat up. They do subs and calzones too.
google avatar

Han V.

Yelp
This place is exactly like the pizza joints around NYC. Jo-Jo's replicates the whole New York experience from the big slices of pizza to being crammed inside a little restaurant. This place is a hot spot during lunch hours so don't be disheartened by the long line, it moves along quickly! Their lunch special includes 2 slices and a drink for $6 so your wait will be worth it. Their pizzas are all lined up behind the glass and when you choose your slices, they pop them in the hot oven. When they come out, the cheese is melted and it's oh so good! They also have subs, calzones, and strombolis available. There isn't much seating in the restaurant so I recommend getting your slices to-go. Food: 3.5 Value: 5 Service: 3.5 Overall: 4

Dani D.

Yelp
Best pizza in RVA. It's like having a piece of NYC in our southern city. The owner has a huge personality- super friendly & generous- which makes you feel welcome. His subs are fantastic too!

Jamie M.

Yelp
Really, really good pizza...crust is perfect and the sauce and toppings are fresh, flavorful and the portions are generous. The Stromboli is a close second.
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
Ordered jojo's for the first time, 4 large pies. My staff tore them up!! Tomato garlic pizza is off the chain good. Dont pass up the opportunity to try their pizza. Will be the go to pizza for work!!! I would have taken a pic but ot was eaten so quick.

Sheetal G.

Yelp
Great pizza--not greasy, very flavorful. Reasonably priced and convenient off I95. The owner came and chatted with us after ordering. It's nice to see small businesses thriving again. The staff was hardworking--cleaning the kitchen when it got slow. Definitely recommend!

Justin M.

Yelp
BEST PIZZA IN VA!!!! We have been enjoying Jo-jo's for years. Great food with great service at great prices! Enrico is the owner and always makes sure the food is fresh and he makes everyone feel like family! Definitely eat here! Also, everyone is masked and they have separated the tables in order to mitigate the pandemic. I always feel very safe eating here.
google avatar

Jean L.

Yelp
Great staff and food at the local establishment. I usually order the chicken parmesan sub with fries and it is delicious. Great selection of pizzas and other types of subs. The owner is behind the counter everyday with his super staff to ensure you have a great lunch.
google avatar

Raul M.

Yelp
Quick and effective service in the downtown of RVA. You have only 30minutes for lunch? Jo-Jo is your place. The lunch deal ($7.50 for two slices of pizza or a calzone plus a fountain drink) is very good and affordable. Talking about the food, not the best, but it feeds you. I feel like the calzone/stromboli tastes better than the pizza, which looks like it has to be "half-way" done and reheat when you order it.
google avatar

Phil P.

Yelp
Every so often, the team stops by Jo-Jo's, usually on a Friday for a couple of slices. My favorite, I call it my fish sandwich, is 2 cheese slices with anchovies on one slice. I stack them together to sandwich the anchovies in the middle, wait a couple of minutes because they are usually super hot, and enjoy it. Delicious! The best pizza downtown.
google avatar

Rob M.

Yelp
Had high expectations since another former Jersey person recommended it. Cool little place. Felt like a pizza place in Jersey. Lots of energy, good people, great service. The slice though? When I get a re-heated slice, I exp6it to be crispy. This was hot but doughy. Next time I'll ask to keep it in longer. Not bad for Virginia
google avatar

Callie H.

Yelp
The staff was sooo nice! We came in right at closing time, but the staff was happy to service us before they closed. The price was right for its location and quality. They don't deliver but since it's a good lunch spot for downtown offices, I think that's fine.

Rodney M.

Yelp
Best Pizza and Subs in Richmond. Customer Service is excellent !! This is my go to place for downtown !!!
google avatar

Kimberly M.

Yelp
I stopped in for a late lunch today. Got 2 slices of pepperoni pizza. They are generous in portion and were absolutely delicious! Also probably the best customer service I've had in any establishment here in Richmond. From the person who took your order to the person who rung you up on the register, and to the person who thanks you as you walk out!! You seldom ever get this wonderful customer service ever! Two thumbs up for me!!
