"If you’re in Shoreditch and on the hunt for somewhere to eat an affordable brunch or drink many, many glasses of rosé, then Joan has got your back. An exposed brick meets velvet booths situation, it’s a great shout if you’re looking for a last-minute date night option in the area or somewhere to have a boozy brunch ft. flatbreads and plenty of avocado. None of the food here will change your life, but they make a great mezcal cocktail and everything on their Mediterranean-leaning brunch menu is pretty affordable so you don’t need to worry about dropping half your rent on something you won’t remember after your second bloody mary. When the weather is behaving, their pavement terrace is a lovely place to be but for peak flirtatious schmoozing opt for pizzetta and palomas in one of their velvet corner booths. For the East End night owls, know that this place is open until midnight all week long, so it’s perfect for ‘one last drink’." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Pleasantly surprised - the presentation and cooking is the food is incredible. We had 3 of the 4 vegan options available and they were of fine dining standards but reasonably priced. The small plate cauliflower was most memorable. We also had 1 of the 2 vegan desserts and that was also delicious. Could do with more vegan options though and the toilets didn’t live up to the hygiene standards of the rest of the restaurant.

Delicious food! I have a few small places to shares, and every single ones was perfect! The octopus in particular was very tasty and it wasn’t chewy! I definitely will get back to try some of the main course! Friendly staff and there is a bar area too which seems cool.

Came here for early dinner in August and the food was presented really well for Mediterranean food in London. The ones that attracted me most was the grilled octopus and also the grilled cauliflower with Burrata starter. My wife and I decided to come back for second round yesterday and you can see the photo shown the octopus size has been reduced massively and also the taste were so different from last time! The quality of the restaurant has definitely dropped and not being consistent between august and now. 😒😟. We ordered even more dishes, risotto which was cooked mushy and soft and didn’t really taste what I expected. Manager apologised to us about their mistake and the waiter was offering us some dessert for our dissatisfaction on the main dishes and something they want to do. We ordered a winter berry crumble and brownie with ice cream. If you checked the picture! Utterly disgusting and more like the restaurant does not care about customer feedback and totally gave us a horrible dessert, melted ice cream, the crumble is all displayed on plate! The restaurant seriously needs to review their quality of the food serve.

A very nice food tasting experience. Went there with a friend and enjoyed every bit from the plates served. The arancini balls were so good and wanted a second one to be honest. The meat was well cooked at its perfect. Thank you everyone for the nice service on Wednesday afternoon 🙏

We dined here for brunch and I have to say this place has been a nice surprise. Great value for money. I’ve been to other places that charge a lot for pancakes or french toast and did not live up to the hype. Joan’s did a great job. The only thing I would say is that the french toast was a bit dry. It would be great to have the option of adding syrup or honey, but apart from that great place to get a sweet dish. Oh and great vibes abs ambience.

Place looks fancy, interior is very stylish but the service is so slow. Cocktail was not bad at all and my broccoli was just typical. Hope this place will improve the service and customers won’t wait that long to be served.

A good replacement for the repugnant Beach blanket Babylon. Nice small plates of a Mediterranean vibe, highly recommend the sodabread among the bread plate. The pizete was kind of average and the beef croquettes were a little bland but the octopus and skordalia was delicious. There's a real mix of dishes of different inspirations so something for everyone. Didn't try any of the large plates but would like to see a more focused, tighter menu to be honest. The cocktails were maybe a little weak for what I was expecting, shame the outdoor seating for more than two is out back and not south facing so a little chilly.

Food and drink were delicious, service was great, fast and friendly staff. I was served by Rodrigo. Sadly they didn't have the salmon which was the main dish I wanted. So, I went for the cauliflower steak and truffle fries. I had the roasted butternup squashed soup as a starter and I absolutely loved it. For refreshement, I had the cucumber, elderflower and lime soft drink. Delicious. Would definitely recommend Joan and i would come back again. P.s. Lavatories need a refresher. The restaurant is so nice and the lavatories are a dissapointment.
