Where to Eat and Drink in Wimberley, Texas

"The causal cozy, rustic bistro has a New American slant, with dishes such as the Thai chile crispy Brussels sprouts, wagyu skewers with gochujang drizzle, and ahi tuna tacos. For Sunday brunch, there’s choose-your-own waffles and crepes, eggs all sorts of ways, and more. There are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury

Had a lovely evening at Jobell. The house salad and clams and mussels were great. We ordered the Waygu Steak Diane and the Steak and Frites. Both were came perfectly cooked and were awesome. We’ll definitely go back.

Smelled divine upon arrival in the parking lot, walking up the creek bridge, and even stronger once greeted with open doors to step inside. Enjoyed this cozy and quaint little house. We're sat immediately sunset, golden hour, window side, 7pm on a Wed night. The dim rustic industrial amber lighting and soft big band music really whisked me away adding to the atmosphere. Our one server was managing the whole floor calmly, pleasantly with ease, a 8 top was finishing dinner, a single top, a two top we're ordering, we were settling in as a four top was arriving... Watched and admired as everyone got detailed timely service. Started with a small French Onion soup, the creamiest, richest take I've ever had - nearly a gravy, with baguette slice, cheese melted over and down the entire side of the bowl...so tasty we kept some as a dipping sauce for the Steak. Dinner was delicious, memorable, timely, incredibly generous proportion, cooked to perfection, exceeded our expectation. Steak and frites was the best cooked med rare, also asked for a side of dejon. Chicken Piccata was cheesy unique rice cake with a cream sauce... I could def ask for more sauce next time. Passed on dessert... Must remember to leave room for more. Leftovers were equally delicious the next day. Look forward to visiting for lunch, brunch and trying other menu items. Everything looks, sounds, seems to die for... It's lovely to have bistro level flare, service, hospitality out here with no need to go into town or into the big cities.

What a cute little place just on the outskirts of Austin! The brunch was good but I really love their lemonade (unlimited refills!!!)!! The only complaints I have is that their grits tasted too healthy and the parking sucks. Normally I wouldn’t care too much about the parking spaces but we were in a very nice car and gravel + dips did not make it very pleasant. Overall a good place to visit and we will be back if we’re ever in the area but maybe fix your parking lot??

Food was good. We had French onion soup and gyro as appetizer. Steak Diane and Chicken Picatta for entrees. Mint tea and latte for beverages. Dessert was the caramel apple crostata and we ordered a side of ice cream. All tasty and we'll prepared, around $109 with no wine. Note there are surcharges for using a credit card and if you substitute a different vegetable. Not a lot of soft warm comfort ambience for dinner in the dining area although we did sit by the fireplace. Tablecloths would have been nice to upgrade the experience and align with the pricy menu.

Update after the response on Sept. 25, 2021: You just made me reconsider and now I think Jobell isn't 2 stars; it's 1. You clearly have no idea how to take criticism and apologize to your guests, because your reply wasn't an apology; you were making excuses. If you can't see yourself and how your food tastes and looks like, you won't ever get better at what you do. Sorry to see it happen to you. Good luck at being less than mediocre, I'm not ever going back to Jobell. Mediocre! For a place pretty much in the middle of nowhere, perhaps it wasn’t bad but the even though the food arrived very quickly it was lukewarm. It tells me they probably microwaved our dishes and that’s just unacceptable (and lazy!). The poached eggs were almost boiled (again, probably nuked in the microwave), and the whole thing didn’t really come together as a dish to me. The waiting staff a bit too casual for me; the place is cute but won’t be coming back. Good mimosa and cute place aren’t good enough, they need to improve the quality of their food.

Google
Best restaurant in the Hill Country!! We stumbled on this place 5 years ago when it opened and recently found it again. I wish I took more pics of the food because it’s incredible. Fresh, lots of flavor and well priced. On the weekends they have live guitarist. Lighting and ambiance is excellent which is so important for a date night or dinner with girl friends.

Google
Wife and I really enjoyed our food, I loved the mashed potatoes and the tuna tacos really came together well. Only thing I would want them to improve on would be their fries could be crispier. We loved the atmosphere and location

Google
Accidentally found this place on an aimless drive through the hill country, and had one of the best meals I've had in a long time. We rolled in about 5:30 pm with no reservation and got seated immediately on the patio. Our server Andrea was excellent - stood back when we were talking, gave us space to enjoy our meal, but made sure we had everything we needed. The food was not inexpensive, but absolutely delicious. We'll be back soon.

Yelp
Fantastic experience and delicious FOOD!! Went for a dinner of two on a Saturday. Great portion sizes and overall display of the food. Two thumbs way UP!!!

Yelp
I had high hopes...let me start with this: Restaurant owners, can we teach our staff to remove the word "just" from their vocabulary? Stop with the "Just one?" Like solo diners are not good enough! She didn't ask if I wanted in or out and just seated me, immediately asking what I wanted to drink. My bum hadn't even touched the seat yet. I asked for more time and started to peruse the menu. I ordered the soup, 1/2 sandwich combo. Let me start with that the soup was tasty AF. Dang that jalapeño tomato soup was bomb. It was a very very small cup though, not sure it even measured 8 oz. The 1/2 grilled cheese with tomato and avocado was so so sad. Barely melted and just no flavor. Meanwhile the moment I put my napkin down, here comes my waitress asking if I was ready for the check. Mind you I still had more than 1/2 of my $13 glass of wine to finish. This was not an experience, this was a bomb ass soup in a fast food environment, not at all what I had hoped for. I left hungry and sad Ambience was good, would have preferred outside seating PS the soup moved this up to 2 stars

Yelp
Wonderful brunch discovery... generous portions, chill vibes, and fantastic crepes (savory and sweet). chicken & waffles were A+! lots of veggies and whole grains on the menu as well, if you're looking to keep it healthy. tons of parking, no drama, good coffee

Yelp
Scale 1-5. ( 5 highest) Service : 4 Food : Club Sandwich: 4. Very flavorful. Not to much protein(the meat like a deli) Fried Brie: 5. Best part of our meal Pork tenderloin- 2 was just ok. Ambience: 5 love the outdoor seating on perfect spring day.

Yelp
We came for brunch and wanted to sit outside, but it was unavailable at the time. Service was pretty slow, but food and coffee was good! I suggest getting a reservation for the patio for an optimal experience

Yelp
This place is a great find in the Wimberley area. It's cute outside with the trees, the ponds and the night lights, cute inside, and the food is excellent. We had a wonderful mussel appetizer with a creamy wine sauce. Then I followed with a great bavette steak diane, perfectly cooked and with a really great sauce, accompanied by succulent carrots from the garden and some fries. At $34, that steak was actually very fairly priced for the quality, as long as you know what to expect for bavette (on the stronger beef side, not the most tender cut, but still very enjoyable when cooked medium rare). My wife and daughter both got the chilean seabass and it appeared that they were quite pleased with it. It looked very flaky and buttery, like that type of fish is supposed to be. Finally, we shared an also delicious peach cobbler, with a unique ginger ice cream topping. Really classy food, well done! All that in a cozy room, with excellent and attentive service.

Yelp
Super cute place! The food is fresh and delicious. They did a sweet little rosé strawberry for our wines. Our waitress was also very kind and thoughtful. I adore this place and will definitely be going back!
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
Jobell exceeded our expectations! The food was great. Everything was seasoned nicely. The presentation was pleasant and everything came out fresh. The restaurant had an eclectic comfortable feel. Set back off the road in the trees with a gravel parking lot. Loved it for our date night. Service could be more attentive, our drinks sat empty on multiple occasions for a restaurant that was not at capacity. Everything is priced very well for the quality. Overall, we would recommend and would return on our next trip!
google avatar

Yelp
A lovely intimate spot. It's tucked away with a rocky parking lot, so be prepared for that. There's a small water feature in front that really sets the tone. The vibe is elegant but cozy with cleanliness and lowlighting all over the place. Service is friendly, it was great for us because the restaurant was practically empty when we went. All that being said, the food is just fine. It was actually disappointing to come here after the delicious food we had previously. I got the acorn squash and it could have had more seasoning. Any bite I took without the cheese on top was incredibly bland. There aren't many vegetarian/vegan options so I'd skip this place if you have either of those restrictions. I wouldn't come back, but I get the appeal. They say get a reservation, and it wouldn't hurt, but also stop in if you're around and if the lot isn't full, go on a give it a try.

Yelp
Went for lunch on a Saturday, and everything I tried was fantastic: crab cakes, tuna tacos, Pnk Salt rosé, chocolate torte. Ambience is just right. I heart Jobell!

Yelp
Wow. What a hidden gem. My husband and I went here for my birthday and were blown away. The charcuterie board pleasantly surprised us, given the more than reasonable pricing. It was one of the best boards I've ever had - you can tell they really care about quality. The server was quick and relaxed, which aligns with the atmosphere of Jobell. Our main courses were duck and steak... WOW! So, so good. I couldn't imagine a better birthday dinner. If you're debating on places to go near Wimberley, go here!

Meghan T.

Yelp
Perfect date spot that is rustic and intimate. LOVED the smoked duck dish and the cookie dough cheesecake!
google avatar

Dillar S.

Yelp
It's good. Nothing on the menu is spectacular or unique. Service was a bit slow - only two other tables were occupied while we dined. The ambiance is nice for a relaxing meal. Server was nice and prices were great.
google avatar

Michelle A.

Yelp
I had lunch with a friend on a Tuesday.. there were only 2 other tables..so very quiet for nice conversation.. I had the ahi tuna tacos which the tuna was cooked perfectly but the dish was cold.. the corn tortillas were hard and it made the meal slightly unpleasant.. I had asked for sauce on the side but it came on the tacos.. the waitress was great and did ask if I wanted them redone..overall.. would try again.plus plenty of parking
google avatar

Kathy D.

Yelp
Fancy food, high price but you can see why when you get your dish! A lot of work into each meal! We enjoyed it. We Got the duck dish and Chilean Bass. Wasn't my favorite place to go but different for a change!
google avatar

Kira W.

Yelp
Super place to eat. A cute quiet small location nestle among the trees. We had dinner there while in Wimberly for a family reunion. The staff was very friendly and accommodating(since we did not have a reservation). The food was spectacular. I had the Jobell salad and the sea bass. Very good. We all shared the fried Brie and it too was wonderful. We enjoyed our meal so much we went back Sunday for brunch. If you are ever in Wimberly and have the time, I nightly suggest you stop it. I don't think you will be disappointed. I know, when I'm back near the area, I will be eating at Jobell's again.

Ace S.

Yelp
Great food! Nice atmosphere. Would highly recommend this as an upscale restaurant with a rustic flair.

Son Of A.

Yelp
Very pretentious outlet for such a beautiful yet modest small town. The food is overpriced. For example, I paid $20 for what amounted to a "charcuterie board" of 2 slices of aged cheese, and aged sausage that smelled like dirty feet. There were three delectable slices of bread and a handful of old, limp greens. For us dumb, unpolished hicks, a "charcuterie board" is a piece of wood with a few bitter tasting cold cuts smartly arranged on said wood. The food isn't the point for there is no substance. You benighted people are paying for the presentation. Furthermore, it took the kitchen approximately 45 minutes to deliver this sad slop to my table.

Michael W.

Yelp
I love the ambiance and food. Perfect little spot to have brunch and relax after a morning hike.
google avatar

Vince T.

Yelp
Food is great and they even have a steamed clams and muscles appetizer that I love. Would definitely recommend this place.

Cindy P.

Yelp
Tried this restaurant for a Sunday brunch! Service was fine they did need some more help ! Place is in a beautiful spot, love the interior atmosphere Food wasn't the best. I had classic eggs Benedict.... Eggs were cooked perfectly, sauce was good but it was cold... potatoes were terrible, also cold no seasoning and were half cooked, hubby had chicken and waffles, chicken was like a nugget 3 of them , cold also and pretty sad looking!
google avatar

Yelp
I brought my daughter to dinner at this restaurant and it is just so welcoming! Decor was really nice, service was excellent but the food was outstanding! We both got the Chilean Sea Bass, and it was the best sea bass we have ever had!! My husband and I are coming back over the holidays and we will be dining here for sure!!
google avatar

Nimrod S.

Yelp
Hidden Hill Country gem!! We keep coming back and never disappointed. Always greeted with wide smiles, the food is fresh and delicious. Great authentic atmosphere. Love their chicken piccata, their seabass and appetizers. So exciting to see local business giving their unique touch and a warm welcome to both locals and visitors.

Katie P.

Yelp
Just had the Wagyu Kushiyaki for an appetizer, was so tender and delicious! Had our favorite chicken piccata as a main dish and Parcel 41 Merlot wine. Everything was so good! Such a cozy atmosphere! Wonderful service. Love this place! Will definitely be back

Carolyn B.

Yelp
Delicious! Beautiful setting as a cottage in the trees. The singer was a great addition to the evening. I thoroughly enjoyed the lemon orzo pasta soup as an appetizer. the little neck clams and mussels as an entree were good also. The French onion soup is tomato based and the smoked duck breast was a thumbs up from my husband. The bar only serves beer and wine.
google avatar

Lourdes R.

Yelp
The restaurant came highly recommended by our air bnb hosts so we decided to give it a try on our first night. We are here on a cold night in December. The outside looks like it would be a wonderful place to eat if the weather were a little warmer. We were immediately greeted by the friendly hostess and taken to our table. The ambiance was nice. The dining area had slightly dim lighting with candles on the table. Our server greeted us in a timely manner and was very attentive, even when the dining area got busy. Selection of adult beverages included beer and wine. We would've liked to see spirits on the menu, especially for an after dinner drink. The Brussels sprouts came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The portion was generous. They had a sweet but spicy flavor and were delicious. We also ordered the bone marrow appetizer. The addition of roasted garlic made this stand out from any other bone marrow we've ordered at other restaurants. The soup of the day was loaded baked potato soup. It hit the spot in this cold evening. We ordered pork belly as an entree. In our opinion, it needed a little more seasoning. The goat cheese topping on the pasta portion of the dish was a good addition as it made it stand out. We were so full but decided to try a dessert. The bourbon bread pudding came out warm. It is enough for at least 2-3 people to share. It was the perfect ending to our meal!

Jen C.

Yelp
An absolute gem of a restaurant. Delicious food, great ambience, and definitely the best eggs Benedict in this part of Texas. The service is typically on the slower side but very attentive. Not some where you want to go when you are in a rush, but when you want to simply enjoy delicious food in a great space. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Lucero S.

Yelp
I attend in June & had the best experience, food was great but the service was beyond amazing! & the environment was great, there was live music, highly recommend!!
google avatar

Jordan N.

Yelp
A star off for the prices for most items. But the dishes were presented well and were overall tasty. The bone marrow appetizer didn't have much bone marrow and was a bit too jellied but still good. The bread served was excellent. The star of the dishes on the table was the lobster tail. While I was still hungry after eating it, it was a flavor bomb with parmesan crisp, purée of carrot, bacon, and romanesco broccoli. It's worth the price, in my opinion. The ribeye was also good even if it was very peppery with the peppercorns. The steak frites were not as good since the meat was a bit tougher to chew. The steak Diane was the same kind of meat as the steak frites. The Chilean sea bass was another dish that excelled in the evening but my vote still goes with the lobster. For dessert, the chocolate cake was huge but a bit too dry for my liking. The skillet rye chocolate chip cookie was tastier and more popular despite the smaller portion. This is a nice place to eat in Wimberley and I wouldn't mind returning.

Yelp
I LOVE JOBELL!!! My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday with my best friend, and oh my goodness the food is amazing! The seating is very cute, the outdoor area is beautiful, highly exceeded my expectations! The staff was knowledgeable and prompt, food came up quickly, drinks were good, and overall everything was good! I can't wait to come back here and get wine and try the charcuterie board, and all of the other things on their menu! So glad we found this little gem, it will definitely be a date night spot and a quiet hang out for a couple of close friends! Make sure to make a reservation so that you can get in on the weekends if that's when you're planning to go, they fill up fast because they are so awesome! P.S. They're garlic truffle mashed potatoes are to DIE FOR!!!!

Wylie F.

Yelp
We had a reservation and upon arrival we wer promptly seated. Our server was very good as she made sure we had everyting we needed and was in constant contact with our table without being invasive. Our food was brought to us a a timely manner and was well prepared. If there was a negative it was the crab cakes (my wifes favorite meal). After living in South Louisiana we have high standards for them. Jobell's was bland and could have had more crab meat. My pork chop was very good and the glaze was fasty. I don't know what they put on their brussel sports but it was very good. Jobel's is a very inviting resaurant with a very clean and attractive decor. They offer outdoor seating which I am sure would be very enjoyable during the cooler months of the year. Would we go back? Absolutely!
google avatar

Yelp
What a lovely surprise in hill country! Just needed to eat and have been wowed. The setting is gorgeous and relaxing. The food was unexpectedly gastronomic and amazingly tasty. The baked brie with Fig preserves was terrific as was the salad to start us off. The baked squash with quinoa stuffing was good tho it could have been cooked a few min longer and a touch if honey or maple syrup would've made it were phenomenal. The sweet potato fries were perfect, not greasy and very thin cut. PS Chef, ketchup as a dip? Really? Seems lazy. Another nontomato choice would've been welcome. Creme Brule was amazing! Overall terrific surprise, marvelous dinner! Service very good.
google avatar

Joyce O.

Yelp
A hidden gem in Wimberley. A little pricey but worth it. Our server was nice and the food was delicious.
google avatar

Miranda C.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday dinner with my husband and hands down had the best fish ever! Everything was so well put together like an art. It's so nice to enjoy food with so many elements unlike your traditional restaurant that's more "American style" this is our new go to! We loved the Brussel sprouts and our salad! everything our waitress meantimes we got and we were not disappointed

Becky L.

Yelp
We went here for a nice date night. It's not a huge place and you could hear the conversations at the table next to you, but it was still enjoyable and felt intimate. The service was impeccable! Our server, Gigi, recommended a few wines and we couldn't decided so she let us taste them before deciding on one. Her food recommendations were spot on as well. Highly recommend their Brie to start off, Brussels sprouts, honey glazed carrots all mouthwatering. We got the pork chop, huge portion, and the smoked duck. To end the night, had some port and the crème brulee, chef's kiss.

Laura M.

Yelp
Phenomenal food, taste, quality, service and ambiance! One of the best restaurants I have ever been to!!! The lobster and acorn squash were perfect and flavorful. Crab cakes were fresh and filled with crab and just perfect. The duck and pork belly were so tasty! Wine menu was varied with good selection and well priced. Salads were delicate and just so well done!!! We went back two nights in a row in our two nights in wimberly!!!!

Don F.

Yelp
Jobels is a fun place to eat. Food is very good. Service is excellent. Ambiance is that of a fun diner.
google avatar

Cheryl G.

Yelp
What a great experience! My sister and I were visiting from out of town & our host (Collective Retreats) recommended this restaurant. We were not disappointed. Between the service, the food (ahi tuna salad, onion soup and harvest salad)& wine selection, you just can't go wrong! Highly recommend this place - it's a nice change from the downtown Wimberley feel (& plenty of parking)!
google avatar

Diane W.

Yelp
Had bunch last Sunday and it was delicious and we felt well taken care of by our waitress. My husband loved the lox and bagel, two of us had the eggs Benedict, classic and with lox...spot on and the egg sandwich was also a success. We also had The Butcher...great slate and love your grits. We had four carafes of the berry Bellinis...highly recommend! We had a great time and hope to return for dinner in a couple of weeks.
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
Great little spot in Wimberley that we had never been to before. It was a delicious dinner and the service was impeccable. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Charles S.

Yelp
This restaurant is in need of massive improvement. The Steak Diane I had tonight was inedible. So tough, I had to send it back. The server did deduct 50% of the cost of the steak but I spent $16 for a plate of decent fries. My wife had the Chicken Piccata and she did not care for it. Year's ago when we dined at Jobell's, i ordered the Skirt Steak which was so tough, I vowed never to go back. I thought maybe time had improved their quality control. I was wrong.

Douglas H.

Yelp
Jobell is a very nice boutique restaurant with consistently excellent food. Great service in with wonderful ambiance.

James R A.

Yelp
Our group of four arrived in the late evening, but we had a great meal. I almost hate to recommend the meal (shepherds pie) because it was the best and I want it all the time. The service was attentive without being overbearing. I'm happy to recommend the restaurant.
google avatar

Jill D.

Yelp
I have always had a great dining experience at Jobell and my last visit this week was no exception. My friend and I shared two appetizers with wine. Very large meat and cheese board and a large portion of Thai sautéed Brussels sprouts. it was enough to feed at least six people so we took some to go. Everything was exceptional as always. great food and great service!
google avatar

Leonard T.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great people but the shepherds pie lacks flavor. The lobster dish and Brussels were great, but the shepherds pie alone put a damper
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
My mom and I came on a Saturday at 12:00 pm and it was super chill since there was only one other table being serviced. So we got special attention from our server Maddie, who was super sweet and accommodating. We ordered an appetizer, two entrees, and two desserts to equal out to roughly $67. So kinda pricey in our opinion, but we are from out of town and on vacation so it was one of those YOLO moments. Thanks Maddie for being a great server!
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
My wife decided to treat us here on my birthday while we were on a little romantic vacation. We sat outside, really cool atmosphere...we ordered some wine and a charcuterie board...both were excellent! Our waiter was pretty down to earth, he was new, but polite. Next we ordered the steak Diane and the Jobell house salad. The salad was okay, seemed to be trying too hard for me ‍ The steak was HORRIBLE, almost inedible, the fries were pretty good I guess. The food was expensive and to be honest it just wasn't that good. Cool place for maybe some apps and drinks, but diner? Mehhhh

John F.

Yelp
Good quality food. Wines prices were fine. Not a huge selection. When crowded can be noisy. Nice to try on a 4 day stay in Wimberly, Tx.

Traci A.

Yelp
We had a reservation for 7, but we were not seated till 7:20. At 8:50 we still had not received our meal. It is an extremely long time to wait to eat. You are paying a lot of money. Our servers was awesome, the atmosphere is fantastic and the food is good. Just get some more help in the kitchen and add another server. In addition, they were out of three different wines we tried to order. A couple of entrees. Then we had ordered mashed potatoes, they came back 40 Minutes after and said they ran out of mashed potatoes. Wtf. This is ridiculous.

Yelp
Awesome service and food. Loved this place 6 people outside and PERFECT service!! Food was stellar and great selection of cocktails. Wine was sublime. Had a great time and we will go back.Very classy place and fun to eat there. We all loved it.
