Yelp
It is so refreshing to write this review, as I have visited Joe & The Juice several times, and the customer service experience I received every time is simply awesome!
Overall rating: 10/10.
Joe & The Juice totally breaks the mold of what is usually offered by most coffee shops serving the Bethesda area. If you want delicious coffee, a hip customer service experience and a welcoming place to tackle that report or paper that you have been putting off, I strongly suggest you visit Joe & The Juice to see if it's a good fit. I did, and Joe & The juice is now one of my favorite places to visit for coffee.
Details (long read):
Location and parking-
A 10/10 in location and 7.9/10 in easiness of parking.
This location is on Woodmont Ave, and while there is street parking available (with parking meters), they are usually all taken. There is a public parking about 1 block away, which is easily accessible has plenty of parking. Ideally you'll find street parkin during the visit, but during the weekends, its best to simply head to the public garage and walk 1 block to the café.
Décor-
An 11/10 in Décor.
The industrial décor of the shop is a phenomenal departure from the traditional "coffee shop" vibe most coffee places aim to establish. As soon as you walk in, you are warmly welcomed by at least one (usually more) of the staff attending the coffee/juice bar. The beautiful bright colors of the fruit and veggies used for their juices provide a fresh vibe to the entire shop, as they are all displayed on the main counter (protected by glass). The walls are decorated with wallpaper that sets up an industrial tone to the entire place. Think NYC/Boston industrial vibe meets Washington D.C.
Once you place your order (they sell freshly made juices, coffees and sandwiches), you have a variety of seating options. All seating options are comfortable and if you bring your laptop to tackle some work, there are plenty of outlets to use for power. Whether chairs, or lounge style seating options, Joe & The Juice has it.
As part of their industrial ambience, they play music that is a bit louder than the noise level you would find at one of your typical Starbucks shop, but after having visited many times to hang out or do some work, the noise level is not something that would interfere with your ability to focus or carry out a conversation at a place like this. To be fair to some of the criticism by other Yelpers, yes, if you are looking for a quiet coffee shop, this is not it. Expect some noise level, as it is part of the vibe that gives Joe & The Juice a differentiator over other coffee shops.
Service and price-
Service is also an 11/10, and I give a special shout-out to Aaron King, Afiya Letford and Travis Little for going above and beyond in their customer service. Having visited this place over 14 times in the last few weeks, they have consistently delivered a superb experience. From their greetings upon entering the store, taking orders and delivering the coffee and juice, they all are great assets to the company, and have made me a recurring customer.
Pricing-wise, they get a 10/10 considering the already high-priced market that Bethesda has become. While their juices and coffees are not cheap, they are certainly at a pricing point that is very competitive compared to other establishments. Also, they offered a card that you can purchase to pay in advance for coffee, juices or sandwiches in advance, at a flat rate. I bought one for my coffee purchases, and it brought down the overall pricing point of each of the 10 cups of coffee I bought in advance. Overall, this is a worthy opportunity to consider if you plan to frequently visit this place.
Foods and Drinks-
A 10/10 in the coffee and juice department. Their cappuccinos are delicious, and they offer a wide-variety of juices/smoothies. From oranges, ginger or broccoli and everything in between, Joe and The Juice has something from everyone. Their croissants are also worthy of trying them, buttery and fulfilling!
Opportunities for improvement:
1. Keep up the great work! No suggestions for now, but will update my review in a few months to see if the overall service and experience is kept up.
In conclusion, if you are looking for a new coffee/juice experience, Joe & The Juice is worth trying! Their coffees are delicious, the juices are varied and worthy of trying, as well as the overall industrial vibe offered by the shop is a welcomed addition to the Bethesda area.
