"In other ARP news, Joe Theismann’s Restaurant is undergoing renovations. The restaurant group bought an equity stake in the 33-year-old business from the legendary Redskins quarterback last year. The 7,800-square-foot steakhouse next to the King Street Metro will add a new island bar with 20 draft lines. Steak-and-burger mainstays will be joined by newer items like pan-seared salmon, poke bowls, Southern fried chicken salad, and bottomless brunch bars. Theismann’s will stay open during its months-long overhaul, operating as a pop-up bar called JT that serves happy hour and a pared-down menu of core dishes. Renovations are projected to finish by mid-September, lining up with kickoff of the NFL’s 100th season and Theismann’s 70th birthday." - Tierney Plumb

Hearing about this restaurant while staying at a hotel next door, I decided to visit. Arriving shortly before closing, I wasn't able to indulge heavily in the beverages. However, there's an adequate alcohol list for any fun occasion. The food suggested by my server Thomas was on Point and quite satisfying, taste and portions. Cheese bread and the crab dip were out of this world. I had the crab cakes, which were perfectly crafted with its crab ratio. The Cole slaw and fries weren't by no means average since it was freshly made when served. Thomas was very pleasant and masters his hospitality ambitions. Hence, service was flawless. The prices were far beneath the average cost for food (quality) of this caliber. If ever I'm visiting Alexandria again. I'm surely stopping by.

I recently dined at Theismann's on a busy Friday evening and had a fantastic experience. Despite the busy atmosphere, I was seated immediately upon arrival, thanks to my reservation. We requested to sit outside, and they were happy to accommodate us. I ordered the garden salad and the lump crab cake sandwich, and both were excellent. The sandwich was much larger than I expected and had very little filler, which was a pleasant surprise. The fries were hot and perfectly cooked. Our waitress provided decent service; she didn’t stop by the table too often but was attentive enough to take care of our needs. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, adding to the overall great experience. I highly recommend Theismann's for its delicious food, accommodating service, and pleasant ambiance.

We like this place. It’s got good food at reasonable prices for Alexandria. Last time I got the bacon cheeseburger. I ordered it medium rare and it came properly prepared. We highly recommend the onion rings (see photo). They’re big chunky onion rings, which is exactly how I like it. The chocolate moose cake was rich and delicious.

The food has always been reasonably priced and quite tasty. Service is always excellent. Emily did a fantastic job serving us this time around. I would definitely recommend their current mousse cake, so rich, creamy and decadent. I like that the menu changes periodically as well.

A friend wanted a good steak and we opted for this restaurant because they were open until 11p (Wednesday night). Soooo glad we did. Jennifer M. was by far one of the best servers I have experienced. She answered all of our questions thoroughly and honestly. She also gave great recommendations. We had the crab dip for an appetizer. I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. He had the aged steak with potatoes and could not stop raving about how good the steak was. The drinks were good and food was phenomenal!!! Not one complaint or grievance about our experience!!! Jennifer even gave us a birthday dessert on the house. Will definitely be returning!!

I've been eating at this restaurant every time I'm in the Alexandria area, almost 20+ yrs. During this visit the service was great, very friendly staff. Calamari was ok, it was missing flavor and needed more spices. (Maybe it's just my southern coming out). The wings were good, the traditional wings sauce was perfect. I sure wish they would bring back their carrot cake, it was awesome, it's been about 7 years and I still remember how good it was.

Soooooooo it was kind of late when we decided to visit and we noticed quite a few unserviced tables. Not a good look off top but.....like I said it was late in the evening. 🤷‍♂️ On to the service and food. Our server was outstanding and the food was pretty good. I had the clam chowder and the chicken pasta dish. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. If you're in the DC area stop by and give this place a try.

We celebrated a 70th and 80th birthday at Theismann’s, in the semi-private event space, buffet style. My family (~20 adults and 10 kids) had a great time and the food was delicious. The manager was very helpful and accommodating, and our service staff (wish I recalled their names! But the event was 7/14/24) was excellent. Five stars, no complaints. Great food, great atmosphere, and great staff. Thanks! Honestly, I’m just upset I didn’t ask for to-go boxes for the leftovers (:
