Inexpensive AF, Good quality, and responsive staff. I can really appreciate the cost savings, as well as the specialty cuts of meat. Tomahawk ribeye is amazing! I got everything on the conveyor belt photo for $50. This is the best place to shop for produce, meat, and eggs.

Google
The employees are nice, helpful and welcoming. The produce is good but there's times I've been disappointed with the quality. Its a great store, only issue I have is too many people bringing extra people with them to shop. 1 family of 6 or more will just stand in a aisle as if they don't see you needing to pass. Besides that.. its actually one of the best stores around

Prime Solutionz

Google
I love this place. They have the best prices in town. Most of the product comes from Central market or H-E-B which sometimes you can find really nice products at a very high discount price so we love this grocery store. We do groceries once or twice per week there and we will never change it. The prices are amazing. Food quality is really good and there’s nothing else to say just but thank you so much Jovis for your support to the community.

Google
an experience in grocery shopping, an amenity to a community and an important product to eliminate food deserts. Joe V,s is a heb owned grocery store much smaller and far more affordable offering everything including fresh produce in neighborhoods needing options.. read thee fliers. Place is packed. Worth a visit.

I recently just moved to Texas, I used to shop at Walmart all the time, but now I find my self here on Sundays 😂😂 I don't even understand it, every time I wanna go to Joe V's it's on a Sunday and it's busy. Oh I got a big 'ol tomahawk steak for $28 and some change. I was loving that! Put that bad boy on the grill 😉

Lilli Hackney

Google
I love getting my produce here. They have the best prices.

Google
Prices are slightly lower than H-E-B, but the store is very crowded, especially in the vegetable and fruit sections. There are also long lines at the checkout counters.

Yelp
Rude manager and workers never coming back, they dared to victimize themselves when my mom was only explaining herself and she's not as fluent in English.

Yelp
Joe V's is a discount grocery store, similar in set up like stores up north called Bj's and Sam's club. But some items are priced cheaper than Walmart. The produce section is huge with plenty of different fresh vegetables. But I suggest you come early because you will get the pick over veggies. No one loves pick over veggies. The meat department was really good as well, fresh looking meat and plenty of it.

Yelp
I am soooo. happy to spend my money here the prices are just great and reasonable. Noooo. I don't like bagging my own groceries but for those prices it does not bother me. But today at 7.09 a m as I self checked out a young African woman who was talking to another coworker Loudly asked me am I using a card or cash!!!! "No Good morning or how are you doing "!!!! I felt like upset because my day did start of well until I self checked out!!!! But once I was leaving she even spoke to two other male Hispanic coworkers with that same nasty tone . These guys were leaving the store to attend to what ever !!! I guess people need there jobs. If you want someone in the front by self checkout get a person who wants to be there!!! So I guess Food Town will get my business!!!

Yelp
Awesome place to shop. For those of you that have heard of Winco, it reminds you of one instantly as you walk in. I go here all the time. Friday afternoon is the best time to shop here. Always pretty empty.

Yelp
This place is great! So much stuff from around the world. Prices are cheap. I loaded up my cart figuring it would be easily over $100. It ended up being $62 and change. Whatever you're looking for, they've probably got. Huge selection on Latin and Asian groceries. Joe V's is owned by HEB, so they've got all that too and for cheap. Pro tip: go early before it gets crowded. They open at 8am.

Yelp
The prices are good in almost everything, but becareful buying meat products especially beef. I don't know where they get it from, but it lacks flavor, it doesn't matter how we cook it other items like vegetables, fruit, eggs, milk, cheese are okay
google avatar

Yelp
Accidentally stumbled into this place and I was curious to see what it is. Turned out it's owned by HEB, kinda like Central Market but targeting different demographics. As I normally don't shop at HEB, so I can't compare prices. However, I think some items like produce, milk etc are slightly cheaper than Kroger, and a lot cheaper than Whole Foods! I saw people pushing carts loaded with groceries, so I take that things are affordable! I bought a few Mexican candies and some pastries. Will come back if in the area again!

Yelp
selection is overall pretty subpar. a ton of the produce out had gone moldy/bad. the prices are good but quality is poor overall.

Britnee J.

Yelp
This location is very neat. It's set up like a Sam's or Costco. However, you do not need a membership to shop. They have a great selection of everything. You can pretty much find everything you need there depending on your preferences. My only complaint is that they they had a lot of raggedy baskets. Like seriously, I had to go through (3) before I got one that worked! There at stickers at checkout to encourage social distancing. However, it was not taking place throughout other parts of the store.

Monica R.

Yelp
I like the store but I'm in and out quickly because they don't have Moter scooters for the disable. why is this? I wish they would provide them. i would visit the store more often....

Ray H.

Yelp
I'm writing on behalf of My aunt that left her wallet at the store which had all her documents and money inside of it. The cashier that checked her out realized she had left her wallet. The cashier could've easily kept the wallet full of money, but instead turned it in. Later on, my aunt came back and got her wallet back. Thank you so much for that kind worker and customer service that helped my elderly aunt

Yelp
My wife tell mE me this my favorite store . You can get some good quality food at a fair price . The only problem you have to go at the right time . The lines be super long . Overall good experience

Yelp
I just want to give a round of the applause for Mrs./Ms. Corlette who was working on register 15 @ 2:58 on Dec 19th. She notice a plastic bag on the floor and saw my friend who was carrying her baby walking backwards and could have possible slipped if she would have walked any further... Corlette yelled wait wait! Stop ringing up the products, ran from behind the register just to pick up the bag before anyone got hurt! THANK YOU !!

Yelp
I hate this location, I was just here yesterday 9/03/2020 and I asked one of the employees if a register was open because the light was on but No cashier, this winch said no that it was then summoned a cashier to it and told another family from somewhere else to go there her excuse is because they were next, well Sally idgaf what's going on next to me but I asked your dumb ass was it open!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Joe v has some good deals but they also have some b.s managers one has the name of Chris Most of the employees are rude or they don't like white people. Anyway you can get some good buys if you can tolerate the rudeness you can't get everything you need there so you will have to go to another store so I'm not sure if going to Joe v and then going to another store is worth it my time is probably worth more than what I can save by going there

Yelp
Came by here to see what this location had to offer. It's owned by HEB. As you can see by the pictures that I was able to take and publish. I was in the produce section when I was intercepted by a manager named Julie. She was very nice when she asked me to stop taking pictures. I asked her why not? She said because it was a privately owned and they don't allow pictures to be taken. Huh? A grocery store that doesn't allow you to take pictures of their products? I told her that I was giving a personal review of my shopping experience in the store. She said she understood but no pictures. She was kind but she tailed me throughout the store. She also asked me to provide her a name of who I was blogging for so that she could notify her corporate office. She pulled out a paper and pen. I told her no worries and walked off. She thanked me for not taking anymore pictures. Very bizarre. A grocery store that's open to the public yet their policy is no pictures. Really? Never had that problem at HEB nor Central Market.

Yelp
It's great but some of the foods are out of date or rotten. They should also sort thing in their category
google avatar

Comstock M.

Yelp
It is close by so I go to Joe-Vs to pick up a few things a few times a month. The parking lot and shopping carts are always full of trash, often getting blown all over the neighborhood.
google avatar

Tex F.

Yelp
An HEB offshoot, more warehouse style. Not up to Costco quality by any means. Prices seem lower, maybe on produce. Limited organic selection. Selection in general seems reduced. Prefer Walmart Neighbored to this. Bring the cart in from the parking lot was a new feature for me. Didn't seem to sell wine or beer.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
Very good quality in all products and good prices. Before I spent $ 450 in the month on food now Joe spent $ 300 a month I recommend it

Brian K.

Yelp
We really like H‑E‑B and Central Market stores. They are our "go to" for all our grocery needs. H‑E‑B has just about anything you want or need for your day to day grocery needs. Central Market (CM) is a smaller venue and has more gourmet items. The "foodies" at CM are fabulous and help me navigate my needs more thoroughly. The bakery at CM has a larger selection than H‑E‑B so I like to go there when looking for a spectacular dessert even though H‑E‑B knocks it outta the park in its own way. Love the fresh made tortillas and sourdough bread! I am thrilled that no matter where I go in the Houston area (or anywhere in Texas) I can find a H‑E‑B! CM's are not so vastly available (there's actually only one in H-town but I am blessed to live 10 minutes away). Whichever way you go you won't go wrong or be disappointed with the H‑E‑B/Central Market combo!

Yelp
JoeV's is where I get most of my groceries from. They do not have all of my all natural or organic products that I eat, but they have a lot of stuff I buy. It's a warehouse design grocery store that is from HEB. The prices are absolutely great. The store is clean & well organized. They are completely better than Walmart in my opinion. I have had a basket full of groceries thinking I was well over $100, but my bill ended up being less than $80. Due to their prices being low, they do not accept credit cards (you have to use debit). Finally, you have to bag your own groceries.
google avatar

Pam S.

Yelp
The main purpose of Joe V's is an outlet to place premium products at a discounted rate to move fast!! I love it!!! THINK ABOUT IT!! How can they reduce the cost on Organic Italian Soda to 1/5 the price and then put it back on the shelf next week at full price!! I stocked my freezer when they had Organic Chicken Sausage with apple and gouda cheese at 1/5 the regular price!! You do have to go more than once a week because you don't know what surprise discounts they have on premium products from HEB or HEB Central Market!
google avatar

Benjamin T.

Yelp
Good value. Lacks service. Don't come if you are in a rush. You have to sack your own bags. Cash and debit only. Lines usually move slow. However you can save$$.
google avatar

James T.

Yelp
I'm awarding Joe V's W. Belfort in SW Houston earns 4 Stars because they were immediately open with a smile after the Harvey storms. The managers Courtney & Tim went out of their way in spite being understaffed and overwhelmed with desperate people after the storm. Finding national brands would be nice. It's a challenge finding National Brands inside. However, if you're good with H-E-B Brands you're going to LOVE it. THEY DO CARRY Organic THE CENTRAL MARKET BRANDS for milk, eggs & other items. Credit Cards aren't accepted. Yet Debit Cards & CASH is King are accepted anytime! Prices are excellent!!
google avatar

Emilia T D.

Yelp
Awesome discount grocery store. All products are from HEB. I could not make it without this store!!! Got to bag your own groceries but for the prices who cares
google avatar

Key T.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times, andI have to honeslty say the prices are MAGNIFICENT yes you have to bag your own groceries but with the prices being so low who cares!!! The products aren't dated and everything looks very fresh. On any given day you can easily spend anywhere from $40 to $60 and have at least six bags of groceries. If you want to save money please by all means shop at Joe V's .

Yelp
Joe V 's is something. Indeed it is. Yet I do have a sole purpose for going to Joe V's. Joe V's is part of the HEB grocery chain. Think of it as a cleaner discount grocer meets a warehouse grocer. Joe V's is the offspring. HEB brand type items like Hill Country Fair and others along with very few name brands are sold here in bulk with a few singular items. I saw this while browsing the store but can't say much about these type items because they are not what I shop here for. What I can say is that the foods didn't look stale and past all hope of freshness. So, I suppose all is well in that aspect. The store was organized and it was easy enough to maneuver around and find exactly what we came here for. The employees were friendly and the line at the register moved along nicely. My one and only purpose for coming to this and another Joe V's location is to buy soda made with sugar. A nice, big case of the sugary good stuff that equals out to around a dollar apiece for each soda. I'm not a soda fiend or even close to one but on the occasions I drink a soda, I only drink those with sugar. I'm picky that way and to me the taste is unequalled. The case of soda lasts for a good amount of time and it works for me. I don't know all the exact criteria that makes Joe V's a smart shop. Maybe the bulk buying? I can't say. Nonetheless, it is smart of them to carry cases of "sugar soda". It fulfills my needs and makes Joe V's okay by me.

Yelp
Joe V's is a DISCOUNT grocery store with H.E.B. to back it up for produce, meats and most anything of the H.E.B. branded groceries including bread, canned goods, frozen items, etc. One poster complained of having to sack their own groceries and the lack of customer service and long cashier lines. Joe V's manages to keep prices LOW because you bag your own groceries the way you do at another smaller grocery chain I won't name here but they make you put a deposit to use their grocery carts which I detest! Joe V's also only accepts cash or debit cards so they don't have to fool around with bad checks or bad credit cards also helping them to keep their prices low and streamline the cash register lines. Depending on what day you go and which store you visit there might always be huge lines at some stores due to the tremendous savings to be found at Joe V's! And NO I don't work for Joe V's! I'm on Social Security disability and can't afford to go to the more glamorous grocery stores that charge me more just to sack my groceries or to accept my credit card or my check for my groceries! I have a central nervous system disease that causes me tremendous pain 24/7 and I still prefer driving past all the other closer grocery stores to get to Joe V's. Even if I might have a bit of a wait in the cashier line! Another poster said Joe V's didn't want pictures taken inside their store and I'm sorry if he's not aware but pretty much EVERY grocery store I've been in has that no recording device policy posted somewhere up at the front or near the front of their establishment! It's common sense! Just because someone says it's for a blog doesn't mean it's not for another store to use to undercut Joe V's store layout and pricing strategy! Those are all geared to get the customer to spend, spend, spend! They can't take the chance!

Yelp
Just because you're a discount store doesn't mean you should treat customers like garbage. I practically had my purchases thrown at me, was ignored when I asked the cashier if she had scanned my paper towels (when I got home I saw the receipt and guess what?), and felt like I was being punished just by being inside this store. Not sure where your hiring pool is from but you should get some better employees than the rude, dirty crew you have there. Yes, they are dirty, clothes wrinkled, hair messy, chewing gum, the worst store HEB has. And you sold me expired crawfish ettouffe from the freezer. I will not be returning.
google avatar

rita m.

Yelp
I never knew HEB had a value food store, but knowing HEB is behind it, I gave it a try you can count on a good deal here. Shelves are well stocked , prices are excellent , people. Are friendly. Have been back and will continue going there. I love every form of HEB - from Central Mkt, all the way to Joe V's!

Maribel C.

Yelp
This store has terrible customer service, cashiers were very rude to me I asked to talk to the manager and she was busy talking on the phone while helping me. The cashier was talking with a co - worker while checking my groceries out and messed up my order and blatantly messed up and accused me of trying to get a discount on turkey without full purchase when I've already purchased 128$ worth of groceries. Overall I wouldn't return..
google avatar

Vanessa T.

Yelp
This store gets the same shipment of products as HEB chain stores. The prices are actually quite reasonable. I walk out with a cart full of things for about a $100 which lasts me about a month or so. The produce section always has fresh fruits and veggies. The only thing I would stay away from is the pre-cut fruit because it doesn't look fresh at all and looks soggy. I stock up on basic things like eggs, milk, and things like that because the prices are so cheap. It's just me, but double check to make sure that things aren't expired. No matter what store I get food at, I always double check to make sure that food isn't going to expire soon. The store looks pretty clean inside although there is lingering trash in the parking lot that the wind blows around. The lines do get pretty long especially after 4, so I suggest to go early in the morning because everything is untouched. They have meat bundles that are perfect for cook outs and big families. You do have to bag your own items and they only accept cash or debit cards. No credit cards or checks. The store is in the hood, but of course always be cautious about your surroundings anywhere you are. There is usually a cop in front. A MUST to go check out!!! Thank you for reading and you're welcome folks!!

Yelp
hello i went to joe v"s in baytown, tx on garth road. my husband and i got to the check out lady. we notice she was coughing alot, you can look in her eyes and see she was sick. i then asked her if she was sick she stated yes its just a cough. i then asked if was checked out she stated no. we stood far away from her. then i went to an manager stating that the young ladie was coughing alot. the manager did not say anything just smiled at me without any futher action. people will not want to shop in a place where this is going on. we already as people already have enough to worry about. thx MZ. Henry. my favorite store but now i really dont know anymore. i have to keep and my family save

Yelp
This is my second time shopping at Joe V's ...This store Is a warehouse design grocery store that is owned by HEB...The prices are outstanding nothing compared to HEB prices or any orher grocer...This store is very clean & well organized...I saw managers around at all times and they were very friendly and polite to their customers...This place is really simple in design and function...I will continue shopping there... I love every form of HEB - from Central Mkt, all the way to Joe V's... :)

Patrick P.

Yelp
I've never heard of this store before, but its connection to HEB drew me to come check it out. Customer service aside, the stores layout, prices, variety of products, and quality of goods made for a great shopping experience. As others have pointed out, the customer service isn't all that great, but the prices more than made up for what the workers lacked in this department. I encourage you to bring your own bags as one reviewer has noted they don't bag your groceries. So if they're going to encourage you to bag your own groceries, you might as well use your own bags and bag them right rather than use their cheap plastic bags. Also the 20 items or less line was much faster, but I would imagine that regular lines would be much slower. Overall, the store solid. I do forsee that it will become very busy in near future though.

Kristi H.

Yelp
So glad that they put a location closer to Galveston CO residents! I have loved Joe V's since i was introduced to it last year when we moved. Nice store, great customer service. Cheaper groceries! who can go wrong with Joe V's?
