13 Hottest New Restaurants to Check Out in Savannah, November 2024

"A taste of la dolce vita livens up Old Town Bluffton. Joelle Italian Restaurant & Bar opened last month and is already a must-see spot for locals and Savannah interlopers. Expect Italian essentials (handmade pastas, brick-oven pizzas), coastal Carolina staples (grilled shrimp with polenta, catch of the day), and a robust but unpretentious bar menu." - Kiki Dy

Wow! Just had our first dinner at Joelle in Bluffton and we’re already planning our next visit. Haley, our amazing server (and bartender!), made the night extra special with her warmth and professionalism. We shared the baked ricotta with shaved Prosciutto, I had the Veal Milanese, and Sam had the Cioppino loaded with seafood. Perfectly paired with a Super Tuscan and finished off with gelato. Haley even brought me a sample of their tiramisu made with cold brew—game changer! I’ve never liked tiramisu... until now. Kristine, the manager, was so welcoming and kind—we felt like the only ones in the place. Great food, exceptional service. What more could you want?

Had a great meal at Joelle tonight. My husband and I shared the pig n fig salad (delicious), some wine, he got the calebrese, and mine was on gluten free crust - both were delicious. We sat at the bar because we came without a reservation but we're seated quickly and were well taken care of. Would absolutely come again.

Staying on Hilton Head, we rarely dine in Bluffton as there are so many options on the island. However, this restaurant was so highly recommended, six of us had dinner this past Wednesday. The place was packed, we didn’t know it was 1/2 price wine Wednesday, a nice surprise. As the photos show, we ordered a bit of everything, forgot to take a snap of the margarita pizza, which was outstanding. The pig and fig is an absolute must. The best prosciutto outside of Italy. The duck Ragu, although it doesn’t present quite so well, was amazing, both the duck and homemade pasta. Osso Buco was cooked to perfection, falling off the bone. Octopus was cooked perfectly. But my favorite was the cioppino. The seafood was cooked perfectly and the spicy tomato broth, extremely light, was the best I’ve ever tasted. Portions are plentiful. Order a variety so you can share, you’ll want a taste of everything!! The restaurant is less than a year old and they definitely have some kinks to work out. Could absolutely use more help at the bar, it took forever to get our drinks, but the food came out rather quickly. Extremely nice hostess and staff. Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff. Everything was outstanding and we will definitely return. This place is going to turn into a hotspot for sure. We have dined at the May River Grill, which is also terrific, but Joelle is a totally different atmosphere with exceptional food. Now Bluffton has two fantastic restaurants to enjoy. There is definitely room for both.

Google
We love everything about Joelle! This is our second time here and we’ve had the Genovese and Roman pizzas, the baked ricotta with prosciutto, and the Bucatini pasta. Everything has been wonderful. We also had the drink specials, both of which were delicious (the pink and yellow drinks) and a beautiful old fashioned. Our server/bartender was lovely as well! Highly recommend this spot for a special occasion, date night, girls night, and everything in between!

Google
The food was delicious! The service was quick and friendly. I appreciated the recommendations for appetizers. Compliments to the chef!

First time here, went for lunch and sat in the bar area. Nice inviting modern atmosphere inside, also has patio dinning outside. Ordered off the lunch menu, caprese sandwich had chicken on it but asked for no chicken, came with side salad. The sandwich was delicious, bread was perfect, and some of the best pesto spread on it. Husband got an Italian pork sandwich he said was good. Waitress was great. We both enjoyed our lunch, but I really wanted to try some of the pasta dishes that were not on the lunch menu so will have to go back for the dinner menu.

Google
We went here for NYE and the menu did not disappoint! I have nothing but good things to say about this place. We sat at the bar and Joey was great checked on us regularly but not excessively as it was my husband and I’d date night. Food was delicious and worth the splurge. And it wasn’t overly crowded or excessively loud. We will definitely return for another special occasion.

Google
Lovely Italian restaurant in Bluffton. Food was great- authentic, tasty, and aesthetically pleasing dishes. It was a little pricey but evening I had was great quality. We sat outside which was lovely, but it is near the road. All in all, beautiful spot with great for and service, maybe for special occasions (on my budget 😄👏👏)

Yelp
The Cioppino at Joelle is a must-have! The red snapper combined with the spicy tomato broth was perfectly seasoned. The presentation on point. And finished with a delicious cannoli that was to die for! We couldn't have been happier with our server Chris!

Yelp
I have been eyeing Joelle on Instagram since they opened 10 months ago. I finally made the trip out to Bluffton from Savannah for a late lunch and I'm so glad I did! The restaurant was gorgeous and even had parking. We were immediately greeted and were able to pick our own table. The restaurant was quiet so the service was quick and efficient. We only ordered soda water and 2 pizzas, so the food came quick as well. I had the margarita pizza and it was delicious. The crust and sauce are made in house and you can taste how fresh it all is. The pizzas were served stacked on a tower. I love when restaurants do this to preserve the table space! I can't wait to return and try their house made pastas next time! The dinner menu and lunch menus are different. There is a window into the kitchen and we were able to watch the chefs prepare this evenings spaghetti.

Yelp
We had dinner at Joelle's a few weeks ago and were very impressed with the food and the waitstaff. The seating was spacious both inside and outside. We had a reservation for 4 and were seated promptly when we arrived. We ordered several appetizers including a prosciutto and soft cheese disk that was just amazing. For main course we had beef brisket, ravioli, chicken and pasta. The Easter was exceptionally knowledgeable, polite and attentive...he should open a school on how to wait tables. I would highly recommend you go to Joelle!

Yelp
Another review from a nobody who isn't a chef. Bottom line: Joelle is the most authentic Italian food you're going to enjoy between SC and GA. Possibly a good portion of the southeast too. Pasta is made in house. Pizza is wood fired. We went one day for lunch, and the server we had (same server for dinner, I'm sorry I can't remember his name, young guy with brown curly hair) was an amazing server! Great at selling dinner and always kept glasses full without being on top of us the whole night! Lunch: The pizza is crisp and thin, with amazing flavor and you can't go wrong with any one you pick. If you don't order and enjoy the polenta fries, just leave. You tasteless *itch. Dinner: If you skip the pasta you're a fool, I will not apologize for saying it. As far as the entrees, we enjoyed them but when you're striving for greatness there is always something that can be worked on, and that's it. Chicken saltimbocca and short rib were great but did not match the rest of the food we experienced. Other things: amazing cocktails, whoever picked the color scheme, table layout, and designed the bathrooms (kudos to you, you designer, it's fabulous!) 10 out of 10 for Joelle. Sorry for the few negatives, I'm just a picky *itch.

Yelp
Consistently good food. Service has been spotty, but overall average. Would be great if they had some acoustic live music

Yelp
Joelle is a wonderful restaurant. Great sandwiches, pizza and more. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Joelle is newer to the Bluffton area. I think it's opened a little over a year. I had lunch here with a friend. The service was great. We ordered a pizza and the prosciutto burrata on focaccia bread sandwich. Both were delicious!!! The venue has a nice vibe. Nice abs bright. They do offer outdoor seating. There is also bar seating. I'm planning to go again soon with my husband. Maybe for dinner!!! I think Joelle will be around for a long time. The pricing is around $15.00 per entree. Not bad for quality food and presentation!!!

Yelp
We had another lunch at Joelle's this week. Food was different and very good. Service was great!! No rushing and we sat and chatted!! The owner, sorry I forgot her name, was lovely and engaging. She mentioned she lived in Charleston previously . Mentioned we were visiting there on Saturday and she recommended LEONs. It was great Fried chicken, lobster roll and oysters!!! Thank you.

Jill N.

Yelp
We stopped into Joelle on a Sunday evening to eat at the bar. We immediately noticed a foul odor. The seats near the door were chilly, so we walked down to the other end, passing someone talking to a couple at the bar booth who had to stand to let us by. We sat at the bar for ten minutes with no service, and it turned out the person talking to the couple was the bartender, who ignored the fact that we were waiting. We left and received a half-hearted apology. We were disappointed because we loved Joelle, but we won't be returning.

Yelp
5-11-24 8:15 reservation Called for reservation and was able to get an 8:15 PM. Once we arrived parked out front at no additional charge. Inside the place was hopping for a Saturday night. We were seated at a table outside. It was actually cooler inside the restaurant so I preferred the warmer alternative. A person came over and gave us water I was surprised he was also the server. We ordered two appetizers to share Arancini and Roman Gnocchi the sauces that accompanied these dishes were over the top amazing. Next we both ordered pizzas unfortunately there was a mistake and I received Bolognese instead of the mushroom pizza. I was hungry and cold so said I will eat it. Truthfully I can eat any pizza except I truly prefer those without meat. The server was extremely apologetic but no worries this is a new business and obviously still has to work the bugs out. I may be getting older but the gentleman that showed us to our table as well as our server both look to be in high school still. They both did great plus it is extremely difficult to get people to work in hospitality. Once the appetizers arrived we had no silverware nor napkins so I got up to get them for us. Our server said they were short on silverware this evening. The main thing was the food was good. They tried to do their best being it is a new business they are still working out the kinks. We will return again.

Yelp
So good. Baked Ricotta with jam and prosciutto was amazing. Pizza was delicious as well as the cannolis. Server was attentive and friendly. Will be back.

Tom B.

Yelp
The food the staff all five stars! Another great dinner with friends at Joelle! With a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus. Who enjoyed an awesome Short Rib dish with risotto and a pasta and gluten free pasta dish. The best!!!

G S.

Yelp
Went there expecting to be blown away but was nothing special. Good service nice place but would not motivate me to go back.

Yelp
Fantastic food, very tasty and full of flavor . My girlfriend and I pigged out ! We shared the muscles and scallops that were fantastic ! Then, I ordered the Penne pasta with pork. Ive never had sauce like that , it was a yellow sauce and the pork was flattened and full of flavor . Delicious ... The place was packed .. Easy parking too .

Yelp
Really nice interior decor. Many options that would accommodate any diet. Attentive service. The pasta and pizzas are amazing. Will definitely visit again.

Judy P.

Yelp
Pizza was wonderful. Had dinner and pastas were all good. Service was excellent. Have been several times and both were good.

Yelp
Had a great lunch break with the chicken caprese sandwich and polenta fries. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the bar's aesthetic made it the perfect spot for a quick escape from work. Highly recommend!

Gary G.

Yelp
Wonderful Margherita and a salad. It was wonderful! Dog friendly is patio and staff. I highly recommend.

Rachael S.

Yelp
Every aspect of Joelle is a 5/5 - great ambiance, friendly and attentive service, and the food is incredible. I have been here twice now and every dish I have tried has been outstanding. The chicken saltimbocca might be the best I've ever had

Yelp
We had an amazing birthday dinner at Joelle. My husband is pretty particular about his pizza. He often reminisces about time spent consuming the best pizzas in Italy. Well, let me just say that Joelle has made us superfans! The pizza was unbelievably good. The REAL DEAL! We ordered the amazing 'Pig & Fig' salad. Huge portion and just delish! The tiramisu is so creamy and good. We had a new to the biz server, but she was exceptional. I actually went up to the owner and told him what a rockstar she was. If she didn't know something, she would rush off to find the answer. Very attentive! The interior is quite pretty too. We can't wait to go back to this stylish & delicious addition to the Bluffton dining scene.
google avatar

Connie K.

Yelp
Small portions with a very limited menu! Drinks were watered down! Service was slow even though we had a reservation

Hal H.

Yelp
Food was excellent Service was beyond excellent, but the fool in the kitchen cursing (yelling the "F" word) at the NICE waitresses is UNACCEPTABLE! We knew the waitress that walked out, she has great customer skills and the other waitress helped us with a smile even after being subjected to verabal abuse!
google avatar

Yelp
Great new spot, they will be an awesome addition to our area. Great service, nice menu and good vibes, will definitely be back soon.

Nicole B.

Yelp
A hidden gem in Bluffton. Great Italian cuisine and great service! The bartender Cason was extremely helpful and attentive!

Kelly S.

Yelp
Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Family run operation, very concerned about quality and service. Relatively short menu, so you know this is not a microwave place. They have been open about 5 months and you definitely need reservations. We will be back again and again!

Stasia C.

Yelp
I do love that Joelle came to town! Ambiance & decor are nice. It's a busy place! I like the cozy bar booths and I am in love with the color for a really relaxed hip vibe. However, we came in on a week day, & the food took a long time. As I waited, we sipped a ProseccoWhen my fish came out, it was dry. Bummer. $38 catch from N Carolina. I would have said something but the server didn't check on us for a bit. (She was busy helping g at the bar). I'd like to come back and try again... can you bring back your scallops please
google avatar

Bruce B.

Yelp
First class. Delicious salad, cocktail, and a very tasty pizza. Great service. Can't wait to go back

Jaime M.

Yelp
What a wonderful place!! My friends and I have been to Joelle 4 times since its opening and couldn't be more pleased with the service, the ambiance, the wonderful food and cocktails and the staff's attention to detail. thank you to Rob and the whole team for treating us like family and for our memorable experiences!! see you soon!!! Just a little addendum to the reviewer below that mentioned not liking his "manzanilla" salad - it's actually a Panzanella salad - and that's why it's mostly bread!

Jennifer L A.

Yelp
Ordered veal scaloppini , out of veal at 5:45 on Thursday. They told me they could do it with chicken. I was like ok. It came out with chicken covered in mozzarella cheese and on rigatoni pasta. I called the waiter over and that is the way it is. Husband got the Maui fish of the day for $38. Nothing special. Go to the Pearl! Or May River Grill.Joelle not worth it.

Frank M.

Yelp
After months of trying to get a reservation, we finally got in to the restaurant. I liked the limited menu, the salad that I had was arugula, fig and prosciutto with a balsamic vinaigrette, was an excellent choice. The main course was wild boar loin also very nice. I will try to get back as they're were other options that I'd like to.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Great food. Homemade pasta. Fun atmosphere and good service. Still new, so I suspect it will all get even better. Did not get to try the pizza yet. Definitely will be returning.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
we just had the best pizza crust in 5 years of being in South Carolina. Brooke was a fantastic waitress. we highly recommend this Itali restaurant. The table next to us had the lamb shank and fell in love with it

Kristen M.

Yelp
We tried this place for the first time and it was amazing! The food was great along with the service. The mussel appetizer was huge! Prices were very reasonable for portion size. Highly recommend trying this new restaurant
google avatar

Kaylee V.

Yelp
Visited this amazing restaurant after hearing about it. It's a casual yet upscale place. The staff were professional and friendly. Josh, our server, provided incredible service! Very calm and professional. The food and drinks were all phenomenal. Worth a visit!

Adam K.

Yelp
Outstanding food, Italian influenced cuisine, in a casual setting. A must visit in Bluffton, Hilton Head.

Shelly W.

Yelp
Second visit here, had reservations for our group of 5, upon arrival they were slammed and our table wasn't ready. This place went over the top to make it right, and our evening was saved. Food was great, service was as fast as they could manage, but again they made up for it. I will definitely return.

Jack K.

Yelp
Food was excellent. We had gnocchi, ravioli and pizza. Great crust from a wood fired oven. Drinks were excellent, as was the service. A very cute place with lots of free parking.

Carey R.

Yelp
Very small portion size on ravioli, tasted fine. Went home and had a second dinner as I was still hungry. Service was pleasant but a bit slow- our waitress was also the bartender and seemed to be stretched to thin. She never returned after our meals were delivered to refresh drinks etc so was not able to enjoy a glass of wine with dinner

Laura K.

Yelp
Great food and service! Our waiter, Chris, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. My husband and I had the pig and fig salad which was amazing and more than enough for two. My husband had the lamb osso buco, which was so good. I had the spaghetti all amatrician which was not that spicy but had a nice warm flavor. Our reservation was at 6pm on a Sunday. It was slow and somewhat quiet until about 630. Then it got crowded and noisy afterwards, which doesn't make for a romantic dinner.

Jill P.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner, amazing food and wonderful management/service. Food was a 5 star. Great value for the money spent.

Sheny S.

Yelp
The food was delicious. The restaurant wasnice and clean. Very good service. I ate a tomato, mozzarella, and basil pizza. I enjoyed it.

MJ B.

Yelp
We went for lunch on the weekend. They were out of all soft drinks besides Diet Coke which was a little strange since they seem to have a full bar. The waiter did make us a lemonade since they didn't have sprite. The polenta fries were good. My husband liked the sausage sandwich. My caprese sandwich was suuuuper salty. It was like they accidentally dumped the salt into the chicken breading and the pesto. It's a shame because it would have been really good but after I ate it I was a little worried about my sodium levels, and I like salt! The dressing on the greens was weird, not sure what kind it was. Seems like the food has potential but things were just a little off. The restaurant was very clean which is always nice!

Kathy L.

Yelp
What a wonderful restaurant! Had a delicious dinner here. The cocktails were great, especially the Italian Daquiri. The homemade pasta and the pizza were excellent and the staff was all very friendly and attentive. Enjoyed it so much we went back a second time! An excellent addition to the Bluffton food scene.

Nino L.

Yelp
Manzanilla salad 90 per cent croutons, 8 half's of cherry tomato's and a couple of little slices of cucumbers. The Rigatoni was all pasta with microscopic pieces of sausage and kale not worth the money. The wine pour was very skimpy. Also the dining room was nice but very, very noisy. Not worth going there and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

brenden m.

Yelp
Great addition to Bluffton! Only stopped in for a quick drink and pizza but can't wait to come back for dinner. This will be added to the regular rotation!
