Joe's is pretty good, but I'm still not totally convinced that it's worth the money.
Before an important doctor appointment at a hospital downtown, we decided to stop at Joe's and grab some donuts to eat on the way.
As we pulled in, we noticed through the windows that it was totally packed inside, so we opted for the drive thru which had a short line.
The menu... TONS of breakfast options, but all are at prices of a dine-in breakfast restaurant. A $12+ breakfast sandwich? Holy cow! I can't speak on if the breakfast meals are worth it, but that price sure is slightly intimidating for a drive thru menu.
The donuts were all pretty expensive (like $3-4+ each), too, so we got the basic dozen of glazed donuts for about $9.
The drive thru was quick and when we got to the window, we were immediately handed a box of hot, fresh donuts. It was pretty interesting, too, that they give you your food before they process the payment. Maybe because they want to show customers they trust us? I don't know. Just something a little different than most fast food restaurants we've been to.
Once we paid and left, we dug in. The donuts were hot, the dough was soft and they weren't overbearingly sweet, but they still just didn't convince me that they're THAT much better than donuts you can grab from the local grocery store.
I'm definitely not completely ready to write off the place just yet because I would like to at least TRY their specialty donuts and other menu items like the sandwiches and burgers, but if I didn't make it to Joe's again before we move away, I wouldn't be sad or feel like I've really missed out.
