A cornerstone of Irving’s dining scene since 1969, Joe’s Coffee Shop is a nostalgic nod to classic American diners. The Dallas Observer praises Joe’s for its steadfast service, bottomless cups of coffee, and homemade pies that draw regulars from across the city. Beyond the retro décor, it’s the warmth of longtime staff and the sense of community that make Joe’s a fixture worth experiencing for yourself.

I absolutely love this little diner! The food is always great, the PIES!!! Are amazing! We recently had the apple, strawberry and the pineapple cream cheese pie. All the workers were great, very attentive and filled our coffees! Will definitely go back!

Super cute spot, an Irving, Texas staple! In combination with the old location on 6th st and the new one, a total of 55 years in business. It is Irving History, and we brought my uncle from out of the states to experience something local. We had a party of 5 adults and 1 kiddo. I chose the avocado 🥑 stuffed with Tuna. It was a good serving size, light, and healthy. The tuna was really good and well seasoned good flavor balance. They have a daily special sheet, not just one item. A FULL SHEET! Check was under $90 with tip. If you're looking for a local gem 💎 this is a go to in Irving, Texas.

Best place to grab breakfast for under $15 with coffee. They did have a special breakfast menu, but I wanted a bigger meal

As we arrived at the restaurant, a friendly staff member kindly held the doors open for us. With my baby in a stroller, I truly appreciated this considerate and attentive act. A big thank you to the gentleman for going above and beyond in customer service. He welcomed us warmly, and the rest of the team mirrored his kindness. They were exceptionally accommodating, friendly, and genuinely attentive to their customers' needs. I ordered an omelet packed with ham, sausage, and bacon. It was delicious, although a few pieces of meat were a bit tough to chew. I would give it a 4.5 out of 5. My Arnold Palmer was refreshing and delightful, earning a perfect score of 5 out of 5. One of my friend's niece ordered the strawberry French toast, which she absolutely loved. It not only looked aesthetically pleasing but also tasted amazing. My other friend's niece was pleased with her meal, but my friend mentioned her dish could have used more seasoning. I suggested that it might be because they cater to a clientele that prefers less seasoning than other places. After adding some salt, she said it tasted much better. Their prices are quite reasonable compared to other diners. If you haven't been there yet, I highly recommend giving it a try. Their customer service is exceptional, and the food is quite good.

stopped by this place randomly with my boyfriend for some coffee & this place outdid our expectations. i mean just LOOK at how gorgeous this food is. the strawberries were fresh and the strawberry jam was DELICIOUS. way better than ihop and for cheaper prices. our server was great (i didn’t get her name but she had a slick back dark brown bun and gold hoop earrings) she was super nice. definitely will be returning <3

I wished I could of gave this place a 5 star review based off the lady (she's might be the owner) who greeted us as we walked in and made us laugh. We got to pick where we wanted to sit. I was disappointed with the server that we had. She didn't seem friendly. I was expecting that service was going to be great based off of all the other reviews on here. We almost felt that she didn't want us there. For this reason... I ate one of my biscuits with gravy and she came and took the plate away before I could finish my other biscuit. I was still eating the other half of my bacon, eggs, and grits so I'm not sure why she would take my biscuits and gravy away. I should've said something but she already walked away and we just moved here so I didn't want to start anything! Very disappointed! The breakfast was good though. I did want to bring the rest of my family here to try other food they have on the menu. However, not sure if we would like to come back because of the server! The server had glasses if this would help the owner speak to her about her service. Food: 5 stars Service: 1 star Owner (I think she was! She was doing the books.): 5 stars

Yelp
I have driven by this diner so many times, so on my day off, I decided to give them a try. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, plenty of parking, with reasonable pricing. Nothing about this meal screamed, come back to visit us. The steak was tender, moist, and prepared properly. Truly, the auto of me was small for it to be a $14 dollar steak. It was lacking seasoning of any kind, which was disappointing. The gravy had a delicious flavor, and the biscuits were soft and fluffy. I would suggest the gravy he warmed up in the microwave before being taken to the customer. It was lukewarm at best. All in all, this is a cool place for locals to socialize over a so so meal. Yelp
An outstanding family business. Every detail of the food was great. Exceptional meal including desert. Nina knew the menu well and I asked for her recommendations. Desert was out of this world. Really great experience.

Yelp
Awesome breakfast!!!! Great service and large selection of menu items. Plenty of parking.

Yelp
Really great food at good prices with great service. I wish the chicken fried steak wasn't hand breaded, but it was pretty decent. All the veggies were great. Only negative I have is my wife got a salad which replaced two of her three sides, iit was nothing but iceberg lettuce with ranch dressing on it! She could have gotten two complete sides instead of a bowl of crispy water. That was really disappointing but everything else was great. I'll definitely go back.

Yelp
Place is great quick service everything we had was excellent will definitely be back we had breakfast 3 times in a week

Yelp
Who doesn't love Joes. The best homemade pies. Best breakfast, great coffee. Daily lunches. The club sandwiches are really good. Casual atmosphere. If you're anyone you know Joe's. Friendly down to earth people.

Yelp
We've been coming here for about 30 years. This is what I think a big city coffee shop would be like if it was in some big Yankee city. Good food. Good service. Good people. Many of the staff are still the same after all these years. I love this place. When my wife travels, this is where I go to be around people and feel like I'm with family.

David S.

Yelp
Great food & good service! Will recommend to all family & friends!! Highly recommend the Chicken fried stake, roles , corn bread & vegetales

James Kyle R.

Yelp
Some things shouldn't change. A family style restaurant with yummy breakfast and attentive servers. You can't get better than this. Enjoy!

Yelp
I am not a local. I was traveling in from Las Vegas to see the solar eclipse. I was only in town for about 28 hours! On eclipse day of course we had to find somewhere around Irving to have some breakfast. We found an awesome locals place for some amazing BBQ the night before, so we decided to find a locals place for breakfast ... we didn't want Waffle House, Ihop or Dennys. So, after a quick online search we found Joe's Coffee Shop! LOVED it! The service was great, the staff was friendly and efficient and the food was awesome! Yep, we have a plethora of breakfast places in Vegas, but honestly, most are average at best and not worth your time or money (Lou's Diner and Baby Stacks are the only two quality breakfast spots worth the $$ in Vegas). And in Vegas, everything is overpriced these days! Joe's Coffee Shop not only delivered on quality, great tasting food, but also at a terrific price. I asked for my eggs scrambled and well done. They were perfect. They had great flavor (cooked with lots of butter I think) and they were lightly browned, just the way I like them! I asked for crispy bacon and that's what I got. The bacon was thick too ... perfection! The only thing I didn't care for much was the coffee ... it wasn't the best. But everything else was delicious! It was also fun to see how much Joe's loves its local clientele. Lots of pictures on the walls and under the glass on the table. I also got a kick out of the coffee mugs. Mine was printed with a local business name ... so I looked around and everyone had a different mug. I thought that was a hoot! There is a magazine rack in the entry way and it had a good local newspaper with lots of information about the town and local events. I also liked that the menu was under the glass on the table. Menus are filthy and most restaurants don't clean their menus on a regular basis ... so having the menus under the glass saves time for the staff and keeps more germs at bay! If I lived in Irving, I'd dine at Joe's all the time! We will definitely return someday. :-)

Yelp
If looking for a good diner then this place fits the bill! The food was hot and brought to the table fast! Those biscuits were stick to the roof of your mouth good! I got the Eastern scramble and that was pretty tasty. You get a lot of food too. Most importantly the staff is very friendly- something you want in a good diner!
google avatar

Yelp
Good experience. I can't say the food is any better, or worse, than most breakfast places. My omelet was tasty and enjoyable. Coffee was a better than average, as most breakfast places seem to cut back on the grounds to water ratio. I did like the selection of hot sauces, and Joe's own brand was my favorite! Service was outstanding, and for that I'm bumping a 4 star review to a 5. The bonus on our visit was a group was selling baked goods out front. Now that I've eating the goods (lemon bars), I can say very tasty. And I'm sure other reviews say this, but get here early, or be prepared to wait a bit. But don't be discouraged if you see a long line, it moved pretty fast. Bottom line: I've never been to this part of Dallas before. I think it requires more exploring.

Yelp
Love. Ordered the chx dumpling lunch special of the day. Delicious. Came w 2 sides. An array of side choices to choose from. Side note-that special is a all portion(about the size of a cup of soup). It was plenty of food w the bread and sides. I would order the normal size portion next time. I really appreciated how the dumplings were in a soup broth w bits of fresh chicken from the homemade broth. Husband ordered an omlette. Said was good. Staff is friendly. They all work together even tho they have their own separate sections/tables. Wish it was closer to me.

Yelp
I wanted to be clear that I treated the owner with kindness even when she was unfathomably rude to me. There is not a single reason that waving your hand in front of someone's face is ok. Ever.

Karen S.

Yelp
Came across this while on a road trip in Dallas. Great little mom and pop coffee shop. Food was simple, home style cooking.

Laura C.

Yelp
the service is good. I ordered scrambled eggs and they were drive and salty where I could not eat it. I was not asked by the server when she picked up the plate with the scrambled eggs still on plate if I enjoyed the meal. when I mention to cashier the food was not good and eggs were dry and salty, she looked at me like a deer surprised by headlights. I have visited this business over the last 30 years. it is time to stop going .

David S.

Yelp
Very good Food & Excelente service! Best corn bread ever & chicken stake in town! Will recommend to all my family & friends!
google avatar

Yelp
A local diamond. They take care of you with the best customer service. Food is well priced and portioned. After eating, a walk in Centennial Park is the perfect way to start the day.

Yelp
Kind, quick service, tasty food. Full with locals. We were there on family brunch it was perfect and the position is close to the park for a nice shady walk.

Yelp
Great Service The food was great also ! Very clean place very professional and The owner is involved in the business also when it comes to greeting customers .

Yelp
This place has such good food & service that I want to go there tomorrow for my Birthday on 20th of September and enjoy a piece of their homemade pie and a homemade meal with my wonderful husband. I could go to a restaurant that cost more but that doesn't mean anything unless you get good service and great food. Check it out & let me know what you think here on Yelp.

Gee B.

Yelp
Went for breakfast and had the short stack and coffee. It was good. Service was fine. We had to wait for a little bit but we had a party of 5. No issues on service. It was about 20 mins before food start to arrive. We were fine with that as we talked to pass the time. The surrounding was like an old country cafe In a small town. It was clean and enjoyable.
google avatar

Yelp
Love everything about this place. The owner, the workers, the atmosphere--perfect coffee and breakfast stop where you get a feeling you're not in the crazy world just outside the doors.
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
Good food for a fair price. Not sure what else you need in coffee shop. Oh yes--great coffee
google avatar

Jo G.

Yelp
Great food, terrific prices, excellent service! Took family for breakfast while on vacation and everyone loved it! The servers were so nice and were masked and respectful of social distancing. It's much larger than a "coffee shop" so don't let the name fool you.
google avatar

Doug M.

Yelp
Simple concept, provide excellent food and coffee everyday with employees that make your experience personal. Good is consistently fresh and hot while being affordable. Simple diner food with a flair!
google avatar

Yelp
We are new to the area and Joe's is already a staple for us. As a new family we love the atmosphere it is very welcoming and friendly. The waitresses are super nice and attentive. The food is pretty good it reminds me of a diner type meal that mom would cook. The breakfast specials are til 11 which is great my family is always running late. Only suggestion would be to make the coffee a little better , but then again I like strong coffee so to me their coffee is like water. The best part is as a mom my kids comfort is of the utmost importance, they have plenty of room here so my kids can be comfortable and eat in peace.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a great spot for breakfast! This is what a hometown dinner feels like. We had really tasty food, a cozy homey atmosphere, and amazing service. If you're in town, skip the fast chain breakfast diners and try Joe's place. The restaurant was busy but we only waited for a few minutes to get seated and had fast service that was warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Sienna B.

Yelp
Ok customer service, kind of slow. Way too crowded for Covid restrictions, But they had you cover your mouth with a mask when the staff came to your table. But a nice little Irving staple. The quality of food was not that great at all. My daughter got a chicken fried steak and the gravy had no flavor, and it was smashed between two lifeless pieces of white bread (wonder bread I assume). Her salad was the saddest thing I've ever seen. Chopped up lettuce, very plain. We had a good laugh. My eggs were very flavorful and simple. The pancakes were nothing to write home about. I won't return but I'm sure this place stays busy, which is great! I'm sure a lot of people love this place.

Yelp
Joe's Coffee Shop is one of Downtown Irving's main staples for years. The thing is I never ate there until today. Upon entering, me and Kris we were promptly greeted and brought to the next available table. I ordered the Chicken-Fried Steak meal while Kris ordered the Cheeseburger basket. Their service was fast and friendly and their food was prepared and cooked fresh. They only forgot to bring the utensils, but they corrected it. Throughout, our dining experience was awesome! As I said before, this is one of Irving's mainstays. So if you're an Irving resident and have not eaten there, I highly recommend doing so. You won't regret it.
google avatar

Eduardo C.

Yelp
Overall a great diner. Old school atmosphere, but clean and friendly staff. The coffee cup is never empty, the biscuits and gravy stick to your ribs, and the multigrain pancakes are surprisingly good and super hearty. We also had some corned beef hash and it was perfectly crispy. Good choice when in Irving. It's been around since 1969 and now I know why.
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
Aside from the bitter waitress who was having a bad day the food was great! The hamburger and onion rings were so yummy. Of course we took pies to go and they were amazing as always.
google avatar

Danuel J.

Yelp
The food is always delicious, and the service is always A+!!! The whole staff is welcoming, friendly, and courteous!

Kate N.

Yelp
Really good! I hate to admit I was surprised at how good the food was. The chicken salad was great. Not swimming in dressing like more expensive restaurants. I had mine on avocado. Several had the patty melt another tuna salad. They also thought the food was excellent
google avatar

Jacob R.

Yelp
Finally found a good mom and pop spot for breakfast. Food was great and came out quick.....and was less expensive than IHOP or Denny's. Service was outstanding and they continued to come by and refill my coffee. Highly recommend this place, I will definitely come back!

Yelp
We discovered this place since my Dad is in nursing care nearby. We have loved going and the food is a throwback to my childhood in South Carolina! Delicious diner food served by friendly and fun servers. There is a very charismatic woman that roams around making conversation with customers and we always enjoyed that. Our last visit was a little disturbing. We asked to move tables from beside a young family whose little girl was singing her ABC's. We had very important and emotional healthcare decisions to make and we wanted to be a little more remote that day. I applauded the family for not immediately sticking an electronic device in their children's face. These parents were engaging with and talking to their kids which is how it seems to roll in this place. Definitely how I my parents raised me. I was polite when I asked to move and even explained why. The charismatic woman seemed fine with it and even joked about how she felt like I already knew my ABCs so she understood. We finished and paid and left a great tip as usual. Then my husband exited and held the outside door for customers coming in but I stayed inside and stepped aside for the elderly man in a wheelchair coming through. The usually friendly woman that had been so nice to me didn't realize I was standing behind her. She laughs loudly to our server and says sarcastically "Whew! You can tell they aren't from around here, huh? That's obvious!" Then she turned saw me and just froze. Really? Am I not "down home" enough for you, lady? Am I overdressed for your restaurant? I grew up in a small town and I'm proud of my roots. I felt very at home and among my peers at this diner. I work for a living just like you do and your other customers do. I was here on my lunch break. And my husband left his work to meet me there. Talk about discrimination! Exactly what do customers have to do to "fit in?" You should post that on your front door so everyone knows what is expected of them in order to spend their hard-earned money in your restaurant. You don't know me yet you assumed something about me. Don't speak negatively about your customers. That is the tackiest and lowest level of customer service there is. And it is simply garbage human behavior. You won't be getting any more of my money, friend! The good news: You are never too old to learn common decency.
google avatar

Bob S.

Yelp
Nicest people around! Food was pretty good too. When I first walked in, I expected a small coffee shop. That's not at all what Joe's Coffee Shop is! It's a really large restaurant with tie-dye wearing waitresses all over the place! I had the hot ham and cheese with the chips -- it was hot and as expected. My friend had the Chef's Salad which was really large. Not the fanciest place, but the people are super nice and the food is good...and the price is very reasonable.

Humberto R.

Yelp
First time here. Customer service was great. Our waitress and hostess were a delight to talk to. Food was good but meat was over cooked a little.
google avatar

Joshua R.

Yelp
Joe's coffee shop has delicious food, great service and very polite staff. If you are in the area this is definitely a great spot for breakfast!
google avatar

Wendi Y.

Yelp
If it weren't for the friendly staff I'd probably give this restaurant one star. I ordered the chicken breast plate from the "light calorie" section with side salad and fresh fruit. The salad came out with wet iceberg lettuce and some shredded cabbage and carrots in it. Expected at least a tomato or two on it. The fruit cup was swimming in some kind of juice (pineapple or orange) and mostly apples. The chicken breast had absolutely zero flavor. Not salt or any seasoning on it and it was pretty dry. Definitely not a place I'd go back to ever.
google avatar

Teri D.

Yelp
Reasonable priced diner food. My family, friends and I have ate here a number of times. We have ate here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In my opinion, their pies are the best item they have on the menu. My personal favorite is chocolate. Then, after that, I like their breakfast. It's typical diner food, including a daily lunch and dinner plate special. The prices are reasonable. Service is good. You can find out front. For breakfast, on the weekend, there can be a wait. Other than that, you will not have to wait. They do and can serve large parties. It's also wheelchair friendly. They also have a good kid's menu. If you're hungry, it's a good place to go.
google avatar

Clive W.

Yelp
Covid era review: still I think the best in this category in Irving. Food is always cooked as you wanted it, and delivered by friendly and attentive wait staff. Owner is very present to insure the best experience possible. During this era, they are awesome. You wait outside for a minute , not in. You're seated quickly, and everyone is on masks and you are expected to be as well while a service is 6 ft close to you. The covid isn't hurting their ability to still you you a great meal. Please support places like this, they need the help. Dallas county has to loosen up the rules for people who, play by the,

Yelp
The wait staff is very friendly, the ordering and delivery of the food was fast. The food was great, if in the area again I would for sure swing by again.

Yelp
So good! Huge portions and delicious food. Friendly staff and great little diner atmosphere!

Yelp
Joe's is AMAZING!! Have been going here since I was a kid and they were located on 6th street! Food still tastes as awesome as it did back then!

Yelp
We looked this place up and took a chance based on food reviews. Pleasant smiling hostess at the entrance, gentle and graceful waitress. Ordered our food at 12:30 and received it at 1:30. When the order came wrong, we asked for additional food instead of sending it back. Waitress came back with the same hostess, na personality this time and said that it was going to take long because it needed to go in at the end of the orders. She removed the food right from my face as I was taking a spoonful of grits and tossed it in the bin, just to make a point. As we started walking away, the waitress mouthed how sorry she was and the waitress in the section over, who wasn't directly involved, also apologized several times. I hope the hostess can feel proud of how in her 75+ years of life, she has skillfully mastered the art of making people feel like garbage. #achievements The grits looked good but could not say, didn't get to taste them. UPDATE: This lady is stalking me!! She invaded my privacy and sent me a text message with video to help me see MY MISTAKE! Wow, this lady just wont stop!! Let the record show that she has issues. Blocked her, and I hope you know (Tammy) that I have cameras in my home and we have licensed weapons for intruders and we will not be hesitant to use them!!

Kenneth B.

Yelp
Won't be back!! Won't spend my money here!! I know all places make you wear fake masks and I also eat at a ton of different restaurants ALL OVER the metroplex.... never ever have I ever had to jump through the hoops at this place. You have to wear a mask even while you are eating if the staff (who IS wearing a mask) comes within 6 ft of you. So the mask is on and off all meal. No other place is making people do this. The food was ok, but honestly how hard is it to mess up eggs and bacon. If you hate Covid... this place will make you hate it more. I would suggest you go someplace where the owners are not as afraid! Hard earned money should be wisely spent!
