Joe's Crab Shack

This was my first time at Joe's Crab Shack AND I will say it did not disappoint me & my family. Me, my daughter, my 3 granddaughters & grandson in law were very pleased with everything . I have been told prior by a few people not to waste my money here. Well, they couldn't be more wrong. We were pleasantly greeted by the hostess & seated immediately in large cozy corner round booth. Everyone ordered something different & EVERY meal was SPOT ON with flavor and serving size. The kids REALLY liked the mozzarella bricks for an appetizer. Theyvwere HUGE & fulled with a delicious mozz. I had the "Not Joe Mama’s Chicken " Grilled chicken breasts, spinach cream, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, topped with sautéed mushrooms, with mashed potatoes & seasonal vegetable (sauteed green beens). IT WAS AMAZING. The spinach in a light cream sauce was so flavorful. Two very generous pieces of boneless chicken. My daughter had the the lobster tails with asparagus. She really enjoyed it. Two of my granddaughters had the "captains platter", that came with 1 fried filet, half a snow crab, 5 shrimp tails with a generous amount of fries. She LOVED the snow crab & 5 shrimp tails. She said the filet batter could use a bit more seasoning for flavor. But all in all she loved it. My youngest granddaughter decided to have the " Joes Starter" appetize for her dinner which included; crab & shrimp dip, great balls of fire, and crispy calamari, with tortilla chips She said the dip was creamy & cheesy, but could have had a little more flavor. She really loved the fireballs. She ate all of it. My son in law had the crab with linguine in a light sauce. He also was pleased. I want to add, that our waitress, Sarah was one of the best waitresses we have ever had. She got all the orders correct. She was VERY attentive & always made sure our drinks were filled. It is so nice to have a waitress make everyone happy tbe whole time we were there. Due to the large order they automatically added 18% gratuity. She deserved that plus more. I gave her a additional 7% more. She also gave my Grandson In Law ( Marine) & my granddaughter * Airman) a military discount of 10%. So nice to see they support our Servicemen. There was a gentleman that may have been the manager ?, that came to our table twice to make sure that everyone was happy, (forgive me, but I forgot his name). We all had a great conversation with him about where we were all from. So there you have it. Don't always listen to friends negative reviews. I HIGHLY recommend this Joe's Crab Shack. Stop in and enjoy a great dinner with top notch service. We will definitely be back. Thank you !

We loved the manager Randy! He made sure we had an awesome time and bought everything we needed in a timely manner. He’s the best! The food was great! The snow crab legs were small so I would suggest king crab. Other than that the portion size was a nice size. I definitely left full. In the photo I had the East Coast Platter!!

Food is still amazing even after 20 years! We came to eat after 12:30pm on the way back to Panama City Beach, we had no wait for a table, server was great, the food is impeccable but my all time favorite is still the crab & shrimp dip!

Food looks great! Taste… not so much. We ordered the feast $70 crab boil. I noticed that everything was pretty undercooked, or old. I asked the waitress if the smoked sausage was supposed to taste so old and dry? She replied “yes” which left me confused because I was being inherently sarcastic. We added a lobster tail for $15, I thought the price was good but again it was very undercooked. Total ended up being over $100 for everything tasting undercooked, dry, and generally awful. Would not recommend this place if you’ve had a REAL boil.

Got seated pretty fast. Our server Emily was fantastic. Kept our drinks filled and checked on us regularly. Only complaint with the food was the first Mahi was overcooked. Emily took it back with no problem or attitude. The new Mahi was brought back out by Emily and the manager. Was very pleased with the other food.

We had such a great experience at Joe’s Crab Shack thanks to Bailey! Even though we came in close to closing, with a reservation at 8:45, Bailey welcomed us with such a pleasant attitude and made us feel completely comfortable. She was so patient and kind with our kids, never once making us feel rushed, and kept everything upbeat and friendly. It really made our night special, and we appreciated the extra effort so close to closing time. Thank you, Bailey, for taking such good care of us — we’ll definitely be back!

Food was pretty good. Emily was a great server. The manager, Lynn, was rude and unprofessional. We witnessed him mistreat his employees and was not pleasant with guests. We only came in because it was a beach day and we didnt wanted to walk from beach.. we are locals and wont be back to this tourist trap.

Some of the best on the coast. From the environment to the boils, they’ve got it figured out. If you’re looking for your big meal of the day, go here, we went multiple times a week.

We came here for some quick seafood after a long but fun day at the beach. Considering our haggard appearance, we opted for a more casual atmosphere. I had the Snow crab boil with cajun flavoring. Here is how it went: The Good: - server was awesome and very attentive - food options were varied with something for just about everyone, even a diabetic watching carbs - kid's menu had a lot of options, more than just the normal mac 'n cheese or chicken fingers; the younglings could order crab if they wanted! - decorations covered a wide range of sea-themed items and fit the style of a beach shack; great for playing "I spy" with little kids while you wait for food - great playground out front for kids - short wait at 4 o'clock pm on the Saturday before Memorial Day - snow crab boil was tasty and they included a good quantity of snow crab instead of the fillers; sausage was flavorful and spicy - lots of parking on site The Not So Good: - I know it is seafood, but the prices were high; I've paid the same price for much higher quality food/ambiance/service at other seafood restaurants - front staff wasn't as friendly as the server - restrooms could have been cleaner - while my food was delicious, and portion size was good, it wasn't fabulous Bottom Line: This is a good place if you are looking for tasty, faster seafood with a casual atmosphere, but go someplace else if you are looking for high quality.

Our Joe's Crab Shack closed, so we were happy to see this one open. They had all the typical ocean decor that's fun to look at. We had fish, shrimp, and crab legs. All were very good. The service was not great unfortunately. There was a language barrier which made our waitress struggle to get through. Other than that, the experience was a good one.

Sucked over priced frozen food and fish and drinks are very weak would not recommend lots better on the bay that's fresh !!!!

Place was not too busy, seated right away. Adrian was our server , very upbeat and friendly. He checked on us frequently and got our order right 1st time. The menu had a variety to choose from. We ordered an appetizer which was a cup of clam chowder soup. The soup was really delicious and I wish I had gotten a bowl. I ordered a crab and cheese dip which was very good. My husband ordered crab, cheese and shrimp nachos. He said that there was not enough of anything except the tortilla chips. The ambiance was old but it served its purpose of an eatery. I would go here again because of the many choices. Adrian, have a great trip to the DR and thanks for your kindness and patience. You are an excellent Server!

Unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience here. The food isn't the best, very salty, and not worth the price that they charge. Seventeen dollars for a tiny piece of chicken on bread is crazy. I also ordered the sampler which came with Calamari that was too salty to eat. Our waiter was friendly, but sadly the food isn't good. There are much better places in Destin.

We stopped not looking at reviews... this is a great place!!!!! We will come more!!!!! Don't believe reviews it's great!!!! We came and love beer and shrimp and crab nachos!!

Our server Milly was absolutely outstanding! We had the snow classic seafood boil and the food was amazing! Our server Milly was so sweet, caring, and friendly. Will definitely be coming back here again.

As a local, I should have tried harder to convince my visitors to choose a different seafood restaurant. The service was slow enough that we had apps coming out with our meals. We had to ask repeatedly for drinks. At one point we went to the bar for our drinks. Spinach dip was puddled with oil kicked off the disappointing meal. 2 hours and almost $400 later, EPICALLY DISSATISFIED. Quantity of guests should not hinder the quality of experience.

Only positive thing is our server was great! She was hustling and restaurant was completely under staffed.

We made a reservation to sit outside. Got seated inside, then waited 20min for the waitress to show up. Ordered 2 drinks, they took 1hr and 10min to come. When we ordered food she came back 20min after we ordered to let us know she just got our order in (clearly forgot to put the order in) and then it took 45 more min to actually get our food. Food was ok, service was just horrendous.

We got the classic boil and for the money I'd say it's not worth it. Portions are smaller than we're used to and tastes bland, very little seasoning. Service was amazing and the atmosphere and energy of the restaurant was great.

Joe's crab shack was a good place to eat. The staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was very relaxing. We love that they had a playground for our little one to play until the food came out. Our food was delicious, definitely would consider coming back!

The food was okay. Our waiter, the male with 2 earrings was terrible. He left us thirsty and didn't even check in. The bathroom wasn't clean. Not good.

This would be my second time I went there first time was excellent but the second time I ordered the New Orleans on the seafood pots the New Orleans comes with queen, crab, shrimp, black muscles, corn potatoes, but when the food got to the table and I opened it up, there was one cluster of snow crab, where the queen should be. I asked the manager, who was standing behind my table for the menu to make sure that it wasn't a mistake on my part and confirmed it I asked the manager who was still standing there. I thought that and and your menu said that the New Orleans come with Queen shrimp and muscles. He looked at my pot and told me that the queen was coming in kind of small and that was queen now I'm not stupid man and I don't know who he was trying to fool, but it didn't work on me my son that was sitting next to me had a whole platter of snow and it was the exact same crab I know what queen crab looks like so he straight up, lied to me, and tried to pass it off as queen. I sent it back and didn't order anything else because of his dishonesty I wonder who else he played the same trip on and got away with if you go there make sure you get what you ordered

Joe's Crab Shack is always a reliable choice. It is has the distinguished status of a "go-to" for both travelers and locals. This location is no exception. Diners can expect the same quality seafood that makes Joes's Crab Shack a favorite for casual dining and celebratory meals. The service was friendly and fast. A shout out to our Brittyn for outstanding service. Given the restaurants popularity, expect a wait during peak hours and weekends.

For one. They did not notify us at the door that our party would be charged 18% tip EACH for our check because of our seven group size. At the end they just pointed to it on the menu which was in SMALL PRINT by the way. I would consider this border line scamming. Secondly, the kitchen took forever to figure out how to substitute fried shrimp with grilled shrimp. We had to get a manager after 30 minutes of figuring that out. However, the food was good and the waitress was trying her best. So that's why they get two stars and not one.

Sat immediately but waited 35 minutes before we got up and left because nobody took our order even though the hostess sat us? And they came over to take our picture but 35 minutes and no drink order? Skip this place.

The food took forever to come out. We ordered a steak, medium rare and it was well done. The bill was wrong and the server was not very nice. I will never go there again.. I suggest you go to Surf Hut or Fudpuckers instead...

Here visiting from Houston and will come back again! Food was excellent, no complaints here. Our server Adrianna was on point, very friendly and attentive!

We felt like the food and the service were okay. There is nothing to rush back to. I did enjoy all the memorabilia around the restaurant. A lot of historical memories, if you're from the cost.

Our waitress was wonderful and friendly. The atmosphere is fun and family inviting. Everyone enjoyed the food. We only waited about 35 minutes which is great for June vacation time.

Ordered a steamer. Everything tasted like plastic. Potatoes, sausage, corn, shrimp worse than the crab legs. Guess I should have checked the reviews before stopping. Waitress was great tho!

We are locals but I think this place is exactly what you would think of when you think "touristy seafood place". It's overpriced and mediocre food although I will say the building was nicely decorated. There was no wait to get a table but it took about 20 minutes for us to get a drink order completed.

Service was excellent our waitress was on top of it the whole time we were their. The reason for only food 4 stars instead of 5 is because the fish was not very well seasoned but everything else was great! My son even ate more than he usually does!

Absolute worst Joe's Crab Shack we've ever been to. The soda came out completely watered down for starters. My husband and I ordered 2 snow crab boils and they both came out cold & completely overcooked. The crab legs were were so bendy, you could barely break them, and when we did, there was barely any meat. The corn and red potatoes were cold as well. As I said above, we ordered our steam pots to be Cajun flavored and it tasted like they were just steamed with no seasoning at all. Our waitress more or less, refused to give us refills unless our cups were completely empty. Those were her words exactly: She said there was no point in having to make more trips to refill our drinks.... Worst Joe's we've ever eaten at. Do not waste your money. Go literally anywhere else and you will get much better service and food. We will never eat there again. It was absolutely terrible and not at all worth the money.

the food and service here is just bad. told the waitress we were on separate checks and she rolled her eyes and said "well da**" the food, crab and corn was overcooked. refused to walk back and fourth down the table to take orders and drink orders or to pass the food down for her and mind you our table is huge 16 people huge. made us yell all the way down the table and said that a very red steak was medium. no. big skip on this place

The food was excellent but our server was trash. The manager waited on us more than our server. The only thing she brought us was our drinks and anytime we asked her for something she would completely forget, then come by our table again and ask if we needed anything. It happened the whole time we were there not just one time. I wish our experience was better and it probably would've been if we had a different server.

Went for lunch today, and had the best server. Ericka was an amazing server. She made sure we all had an awesome time. She even gave us a valentines day card and some Hersey kisses. Lynn was also attentive. Awesome time, food was great. Ordered enough to take home for later. we will be back.

The male hostess was a train wreck. He actually kept telling us we did not check in while laughing to himself, even after we showed him the text message confirming our checking. Thankfully, the female hostess corrected his mistakes. The waitress was extremely polite and attentive. The food was average, my steak was over cooked. I ordered my steak medium, it came out medium well. I ate it anyways because I do not send food back. My wifes and daughters shrimp was over cooked as well. We come here every year during the 4th however, that might not be the case next year. Disappointing to see the decline. The only thing stopping this from being a 1 star is our server Munchie.

Sadly this location only has 2 stars , but I wanted to share our experience here. Ryan our server was excellent, he greeted with a smile, made some recommendations and what he favored there. The food was delicious, my steak was cooked medium and perfect.

The Steampot's are definitely worth the money! We got the Shack Daddy, Snow Classic and Low Country Boil. I don't have any recommendations for anything else on the menu, due to the only other thing we got was the Captain's Catch on the kids menu. Service was slow, and other servers are not willing to help other servers. We tried getting the attention of other servers since we were out of drinks and couldn't find ours and they would look right at you and ignore you/act like they didn't see you. Light is not good I'd recommend going on a sunny day/during the sunny part of the day.

I come to Destin, Florida with my family every year because of the beautiful beaches. This year we stopped at Joes and man is this place bad when they are HALF WAY busy. The service is mediocre, as they are unable to do something as simple as refills and check ins. The prices are high so I would assume Joe's to at least meet the expectation of hot food but nope! The food was ice cold after it took an hour to come out. Did I mention the prices are high!? What's really weird was that most of us had SHRIMP! Lastly.....the prices are high. The vibe was cool but again, when you're getting indirectly ignored by their staff it makes it less appealing. Otherwise the food is on point but it's not when it's COLD and the service sucks. I would not recommend this place on the weekend.

Dinner started out great. Progressivly got worse as the meal went on. Poor customer service. Distasteful food. (Not to mention, We are not picky and usually will eat whatever!) Over priced for quality and quantity of food. Water tastes like sewer water. Bathrooms disgusting. To top it off, Waitress didn't even ask how the bills were split on a party of 10 just assumed my mother was paying for it and dropped her the 300+ tickets and we never saw her again.. No have a good night thanks for tipping me $50 nothing. And no they weren't busy at all. We learned our lesson and will not be back.

Our waitress Madi, was excellent! We sat at the bar because the wait time was too long. Madi and Tabi held the bar down and served my husband and I our drinks to perfection. The food was above average and the service was great for it being my first time ever eating at Joes's!

Awesome food served by a smiling staff. My daughter and I popped in for dinner on a rainy night. This restaurant has a cool beach vibe. I ordered the shrimp boil. The shrimp, corn, sausage, and potatoes were all cooked perfectly and served piping hot. My daughter had the Caesar salad and a cup of clam chowder. Our server, Bel, was quick to take our order, delivered our food with a smile, and checked in on us often. The manager on duty came over to check in and was friendly and seemed actually interested to talk with us. I will most definitely be back on future visits.

Our server Tabitha was great, very upbeat and friendly! Their crab legs are so good and pretty big compared to other snow crab around the area. It's a must for my daughter and I to come here every year!

I work for Uber when I'm bored or off work. I went to pick up an order from Joes and the manager there was a complete A&$H0!3 for no reason. Food is probably good though.

First of all the food had no flavor, service was slow and didn't know how to attend a party of 10, and the ambiance unfathimalible and not very demure . They don't deserve the privilege to cook seafood

my family and i came around 6, and we were seating on the outside seating because we requested it. we sat, and a few minutes later our waitress comes by. we order drinks and she runs off and comes back with drinks quickly, everything is going well. we order food, and then she leaves. my family owns a restaurant, we have for three years now, and we always appreciate servers and give them grace when they take a little while. maybe her section was double sat? maybe she's busy busing her other tables? anyways, we don't see her for a long time, we asked multiple times for water refills, and kept having to remind her. the vibe was chill, it wasn't insanely busy. we got our food by two runners and everything was delicious! our tab at the end was $310, and we gave her $400 evenly. we were planning on tipping her 25%, but she pocketed $53 for herself, which was 18% i believe. we were kinda shocked when we realized, seeing that the "suggested gratuity" was that amount, but we couldn't believe she took that money for herself. we were surprised, but we let her keep it and didn't tip any extra. if she didn't just take the money automatically without leaving the option for us to tip less or more, we would've tipped more. but we just left.
