Yelp
A very strong 3.5 stars! Joe's has been around for almost two decades. I first enjoyed their cuisine at their location in Farmers Branch, in a strip center on Josey Ln @ Valley View. It was a small space, nondescript decor, but pleasant, next to what was then Turner Hardware. At that time they did not have a liquor license, but offered their patrons a complimentary glass of wine. I had many great lunches there over the years.
Joe retired after 5 yrs and relocated to Phoenix. However, after he was contacted by a former neighbor who owned the current building where Joe's is now located, he returned to Dallas to reopen his restaurant in Addison on Belt Line, between Marsh & Midway. Although just blocks from my abode, I had not visited until recently.
One Saturday afternoon, a friend and I returning home decided to drop in and check out this familiar restaurant, Gosh, it's been over 10 yrs, so had to see what it was all about.
This location was formerly UNO Pizzeria way back in the day, followed by another, I think, Oggi's, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the same decor; dark polished woods surrounding a large rectangular bar on the upper level with a few booths. The lower level has many clothed tables along the windowed perimeter of the restaurant. Very comfortable ambiance, with Old Blue Eyes quietly playing in the background. It was a nice touch that added to the atmosphere!
Promptly greeted by Joe as we walked in and headed to our usual favorite seating area @ the bar. We ordered our drinks and settled in to enjoy our libations and more conversation. I told Joe how much I had enjoyed his original location and he was most welcoming and thanked us for stopping in.
I also observed that Christine was still with Joe's. She was my server at the FB location and was always so gracious and attentive. I reintroduced myself to her and she seemed delighted that I remembered her. Lovely lady! She and Joe were most attentive while we were there. GREAT service for sure.
I browsed the menu, recalling items I had enjoyed in the past. I wasn't hungry, but couldn't resist ordering something to go; angel hair with meat sauce, one I remember enjoying so much before. It came with a house salad and garlic bread.
Absolutely delicious! The pasta was perfectly cooked; the meat sauce was plentiful, rich, robust and most flavorful. I added a few sprigs of fresh basil, and a scattering of grated Parmesan on top. The serving was so generous that I divided it into 3 portions; ate one serving, put one in the 'fridge for later in the week, and one in the freezer. 3 meals to enjoy, what a deal.
As we were leaving, Joe extended Happy New Year wishes and invited us back again soon.
I am sure I'll find myself back; more appealing menu choices, good lunch prices, and so close to home. So glad I rediscovered this casual restaurant with a genuine family feel. AND, I do love dining with Sinatra!
