Where to Eat on Newbury Street

"Let’s face it: Just because it’s touristy doesn’t mean it’s bad. You’re on Newbury Street after all, and Joe’s is a Newbury Street institution. Plus, a surprising amount of locals continue to haunt its halls. If you are in need of a cold drink, a burger, nachos, a big salad, or other American pub grub after several hours on foot exploring Back Bay, try Joe’s. If possible, walk in and grab a seat at the front bar or in the front dining area, where there are massive windows facing Newbury. (Side note: Joe’s on Newbury is not related to Stephanie’s on Newbury, which is across the street.)" - Anna Darrow

Average experience. Sitting upstairs was nice for light and people watching. The food wasn't anything special for the price and was a bit cold. My wife specifically asked for no cilantro on her crab cake and they literally doused it in cilantro. Our waiter's attitude was ok but they should be stricter on appearance as he looked like he just walked in off the street and his pants were hanging so low it was embarrassing. Maybe my expectations were too high but I thought it would be a nicer place/experience.

I really enjoyed my meal here at Joe’s. We had a short wait and were seated at the edge of the restaurant right by the sidewalk with the air flow from outside. This made for a pretty comfortable atmosphere. We received great service throughout our meal; we weren’t pressured to order quickly, and the bread brought to us was soft, especially with the butter. I ordered the Prime Rib French Dip, which was delicious; the bread was soft, the meat was cooked well, and the au jus gave this sandwich some great flavor. The fries that came with the meal were lightly salted and tasted good. My father had the fish and chips, which was a bit crumbly (the fish) but still decent. My mother enjoyed her California Crab sandwich, which consisted of cold crab on top of sliced avocados and shaved cucumbers on a garlic roll. My little brother had some Parmesan buttered noodles, which made for a generous portion even though it’s on the kids menu (he had been worried that it wouldn’t be enough food, but it turned out to be plenty). Kids get a free sundae after their meal, and my brother liked his vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. I personally had a wonderful experience, especially when considering the French Dip.

Great place for a dinner. Tha ambiance at downstairs is very good if you prefer not to be on the street. Lobster was a fun attraction, nachos were acceptable, but the creme brule for a finishing touch was very delicious.

Google
Solid downtown American restaurant with solid food and service, and a nice atmosphere. Nothing we had blew us away as far as creativity or being unique, but there's a lot to choose from on the menu, you can customize most of the dishes, and everything was well prepared and tasty. Service was solid, I think they were a bit understaffed as the wait staff seemed a bit flustered, but everyone was friendly and did their best. Cocktails were very good, including the non alcoholic options.

Google
Surprisingly they actually did have some veggie options like the portabelly mushroom burger which was really flavorful and delicious. The fish and chips were definitely the best ones I’ve had. The fish was perfectly soft. The cure burger was also really juicy and flavorful. The price point is really high though. The servers were really nice and the outdoor covered seating was really good as well.

Google
Overall pretty good for American food. It was a busy weekend for the Marathon but they managed to keep things somewhat on schedule. The prices were on par with most other places in the area and the food ended up being good. Had the Cure burger ($24) which had pretty good flavor and was a fairly filling burger. They had gluten free buns and took care to use a separate fryer. Would recommend. Partner had the French onion soup and the Caesar salad and found them to be okay. Had a house made lemonade and that was fine too. I think that people who like American food will enjoy this place.

Enjoyed our lunch at Joe’s on Newbury. Our food was good…we had wings x 2, salad, crab sandwich, and more. Our server was very nice.

Yelp
My partner and I went to Boston for a long weekend to visit our friend from college, on our last day before flying back home we had brunch at Joe's. The food was really good, we ordered the calamari (forgot to take a picture). For my entree, I got the lobster roll, I haven't had a lobster roll since I was in NC 2 years ago! so it was yummy! Everything tasted great but I wish we could have ate in the upstairs dining area since it was a beautiful day - we could see tables available (maybe they were all reserved?) . We were seating downstairs, where it was completely empty, no windows so no natural light, we could hear folks cooking in the kitchen, luckily our server was attentive and checked in with us throughout our meal but since we were the only people seated downstairs, it would have been difficult to flag any staff otherwise.

Yelp
I've been eyeing this place on Newbury St for the longest time now, and my friends and I finally decided to give it a try! We made a reservation for a party of 4 on a Saturday evening, and got seated promptly. The venue is spacious, with a few levels, and a patio for outdoor dining. We sat inside as it was a cold day outside, and right away I noticed the high quality of service. The hosts were very kind, and so was the waitstaff. Our waitress was very nice and joked with us, and gave us a good amount of time to decide what we wanted to order. My girlfriend and I each got a burger-- I chose a side caesar salad and my girlfriend got fries with it. The other two in our party opted for some seafood options-- the seared tuna salad and the salmon entree. My burger was tasty and the side Caesar salad was great. I really enjoyed the thin crouton slices and flakes of Parmesan on top as a garnish. The fries were also very good and salted well. I heard reports that the tuna salad and salmon were tasty, but the portions were a bit disproportionate. The burger portion was excellent, but the salad was very big and the salmon entree was too small, especially for the prices. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried this place, and I enjoyed my food, but it wasn't anything particular to write home about. We had a fun experience though!

Yelp
Joe's is a lot bigger on the inside than it seems on the outside, offering lots of space for groups of any size to enjoy a meal. I'd recommend Joe's for a night with friends! We had a 5:30 reservation and the waitstaff was very accommodating when we arrived early, seating us at a corner table amidst the crowd. I would definitely recommend making a reservation, especially on a weekend. It can get crowded! We ordered burgers, the seared tuna salad, and the salmon. Everything was delicious, but we noticed the portion sizes could be a little small for the price - especially the salmon. However, the salad was a decent portion. It's more of a pricey option for your meal - but that's Newbury Street for you! Our waitress, Sophie, was kind, attentive, and so much fun. It was seamless to swap one side for another for one of the meals! Our orders were taken promptly and our food arrived quickly. As for the taste, I ordered the prime burger and it came with fries. It was a little overcooked and not really anything to write home about. The fries were good! My girlfriend had the same thing and swapped the fries for a caesar salad and the salad was also pretty good. Food-wise, it's nothing to write home about, but the service is fantastic and the vibes are great. We had a great night here! Solid option if you're looking for a meal on Newbury!

Yelp
This place has a great location and decided to stop for our first meal in town. The seating is overlooking Newberry street and despite the many people and close proximity to the street, we felt cozy! The servers were also kind and accommodated us to the top spaces rather than the basement restaurant. They always had a smile on their face and were very attentive asking if we needed anything! The clam chowder was great! However, it is quite filling and dense, so I'd say it can be your main course. The only reason I don't give it a 5 star review was because we didn't get to try more dense entrees. The salads were also delicious and fresh! I would love to go back to try more food varieties on the menu!

Yelp
This place was hoppin at 4pm on a Friday. Service was fast and friendly. Menu of classic pub food options. Started with a cup of chowder which was well portioned and just a touch spicy which was nice. Had the prime burger for my entree, it was a little over cooked but did have a nice char on the patty. Served with thick cut fries that were really good. Good spot for a casual lunch or dinner.

Yelp
Overall a cool place. Sat at the bar, bartenders were great guys, enjoyed chatting. French onion soup was very good. Ordered the NY Steak Frites med rare to rare. Unfortunately it arrived almost well done. Didn't send it back because it still was a pretty good and juicy steak and I was in a bit of a hurry. If it had been med rare, it would have been an excellent steak.

Yelp
Joe's has real potential to be a brunch staple. Everything on the menu sounds delicious and I had such a hard time choosing. Ended up going with the buffalo chicken and waffles, sauces separate, and it wasn't something to call home about as the chicken felt over fried, but I liked the touch of scallions. All the other dishes servers carried around looked delicious, and portions are huge! The ambiance upstairs is bright and cozy, while the downstairs is much darker and felt overwhelmed by the woody interior. I did like how you can fully see the works of the kitchen though. I'd come back to try other items on the menu!

Yelp
Just came for a couple beers on a hot day, one bar is half indoor half outdoor. Great atmosphere and music. Nice staff. Cold beers.

Merril P.

Yelp
I would have gave it zero if allowed. Showed up on a Monday at 1:15 for lunch . Asked for a high top for 2. The hostess said we don't seat 2 at high tops only three or 4. Said would be a half hour wait for the counter seating. As we walked by there, were three open tables , one with two people and one with with two and an infant. So we left. I used to go there all the time. I guess I'll find another go to .

Yelp
I think it's great for family time. But the wait time for this place was a bit ridiculous. And the food was just ok. It's good. But it wasn't great... you know? The wait staff is very nice, super helpful. Ambiance is ok. Nothing too crazy. I guess just overall for the wait and all that, it was fine.

Yelp
Let me start off with the clam chowder... absolutely delicious. It came out piping hot in a soft yet crispy bread bowl. The best kind. I literally started eating the bread bowl when I was done with the actual chowder. This will be my go-to order whenever I go here! The Spinach and artichoke dip appetizer... also delicious. I've gotten this before and it came with tortilla chips in the past. For us, it came with a small loaf of bread which was an interesting twist but the bread was super soft and ended up being a great pairing. They added some sparse-looking carrots and celery on the side which they honestly could probably do without but still it was a great app. (Not pictured) A sprite and a lemonade. We got the check and the Sprite was $4.00 and lemonade was $4.75. Of course I'm aware prices have been driving up the wazoo but nearly $5 for a lemonade? Yowza! That honestly caught us by surprise. (Not pictured) which probably was because it was truly not worth taking a picture of sadly-- I got the chicken nachos and they were literally tortilla chips with queso cheese, sprinkled lightly with chopped tomatoes and chopped jalepenos. I even ordered them with chicken and there was hardly any chicken. I said hold the guac, but still! It was literally a boat of chips with some light toppings on top. The inside gives off that dark Mad Men smoker lounge vibe with bookcase wallpaper, dark wood interior furniture and wall accents, and extremely dim lighting, but I I dont mind that atmosphere by any means. For some context, both people sitting at the table next to us whipped out their phones to turn on their flashlight so they could read the menu. Joe's has super friendly staff and a really nice indoor/outdoor nature vibe patio and bar situation facing Newbury Street. That area is probably the coolest part, but the prices and quality of some food was not the best is all. :)

Yelp
Popped in for brunch around noon. Ordered a burger medium-well with soft bacon. Initially sent the plate back because the bacon came up extra crispy. After they rapidly corrected that, took my first bite to discover the burger was pink and undercooked. Cocktails leave much to be desired as well. Server was great, absolute pleasure and handled all of the issues with professionalism and efficiency. Kitchen and bar are a mess.

Yelp
Really liked this place. It is larger than it looks from the street. We were quickly seated and the service was spot on. They had a great beer selection and the large Fiddlehead IPA was reasonably priced. I ordered the Ruben with a side salad, and it was one of the best Caesar salads I have had in awhile. Sandwich had a good portion of meat, so it was a good meal overall.

Yelp
Had a great experience and meal at Joes on Newbury! The place itself is very large despite looking smaller on the outside. The decor and nice window into the kitchen were a nice touch. The service was excellent with our waiter coming around very frequently. We were able to split a breakfast combo and tried one of their home made fountain drinks (black cherry). The food itself was very good with the eggs being well seasoned and the potatoes coming very tasty and with a good amount of food. Perfect for 2! It is a great spot for tourists or even regular people who are visiting Newbury street. It was great and would highly recommend!

Yelp
pretty positive experience! i got a caesar salad and some mac n cheese while the rest of our party got burgers lol. our waitress was quick, efficient, and charming. she got all of drink orders, food orders quickly. we also kept getting fresh bread over and over again. the atmosphere was lively and fun, definitely not a spot for a quiet dinner but perfect for a our group of nine. thanks for hosting us joe's :)

Yelp
Per recommendation, we made a reservation here to come to brunch on a Saturday morning which was the move. We got there and it was packed so definitely make a rezzy! We got seated immediately and our waitress was really nice. She gave us time to look at the menu and gave us some water. I got the coffee to drink and it was delicious and the waitress brought a little tea lot of extra so we could keep pouring our own! We got the nachos as an appeztizer and they were divine and covered in queso!! Definitely recommend. For my main, I got the frittata and it was massive and delicious. Overall, we all really enjoyed our meal at Joe's! The ambiance was great and the staff was amazing. Food was really delicious and there were great options for everyone.

Yelp
My husband and I had a great experience at Joe's. Looking to escape the heat, we sat inside near the downstairs bar. We loved the ambiance and the style of the restaurant. It felt very unique! Our server was kind and attentive. I ordered the lobster roll and LOVED it. My husband enjoyed the chicken nachos for his entree and recommended those as well. Overall a great lunch experience here!

Yelp
The server we had was ver attentive, I really wish I could remember her name but we had a lot going on yesterday, catching up on gossip LOL Neither one of us had complaints on the food I had the chicken piccata and and linguine, I added a small bit of pepper and not other complaint. The chicken was very juicy and tender, the lemon splash was just right and not over whelming. My daughter who cooks a lot, had the shrimp scampi we were both surprised that there was 6 large possibly colossal shrimp in the meal for starters. There was ample a out of scampi sauce so far from dry, everything was cooked perfectly and the roasted garlic bread that they give to go with this is fantastic

Yelp
Came to Joe's for some shelter from the rain and a few quick bites while we were exploring Newbury. We got a side Mac & Cheese, and the Fish Tacos. The fish tacos were crispy and moist on the inside. The coleslaw, pico de gallo, and fish combination adds a nice flavor profile and cohesiveness to the dish - but be warned that it packs a kick! It was abit too spicy for us but I really liked the flavor. The mac n cheese was creamy, cheesy, and flavorful. It was a nice personal portion and it came on a hot dish. Honestly the complimentary bread was one of my favorite things here. They freshly bake it and it's nice and toasted on the outside with a warm fluffy center. The service was fast and friendly. We got seated pretty quickly but the rest of the restaurant was packed. We ate downstairs and the vibes are very nice. The booth is spacious and there's dim lighting throughout.

Yelp
We finally went to Joe's on Newbury and it's absolutely worth the hype! Starting with some cocktails, the bartender poured the good stuff like there was no tomorrow! We then dived into a feast for every craving and palate The Joes Prime Burger was a chefs kiss and if you're feeling healthy, their salads pack a punch! You can certainly try their loaded nachos and pasta too. As for desserts, their seven layer chocolate cake is well known but dont miss out on the butterscotch bread pudding, it's a must try! This place is perfect for group outings or cozy date nights alike

Yelp
We came to Joes on a recommendation of some local friends. We made a reservation which was definitely the move as there was a long wait for walk ups when we arrived Saturday morning! We were seated fairly quickly (we sat inside, but if you can get seated on the covered patio, I'd recommend because it's really cute). For brunch, our table split the Joe's nachos. These might have been the best nachos I've had in a long time! There was cheese covering every single chip and there was plenty of toppings to go round. For my main, I had the Buffalo Chicken & Waffles which came with syrup as well. They were absolutely delicious and just the right amount of heat! Overall, the restaurant has a lot of charm, excellent service, and really yummy food!!

Yelp
The drinks were quite good and the food was excellent as well! It had a pretty lively atmosphere with a lot of people sitting down getting meals and chatting. We were celebrating a birthday and they accommodated this very well, even calling the day of to confirm our reservation. The only thing here was that the prices were a little high for some of the items. I got the chicken picatta, which was very delicious and is one of my favorite dishes to order out, but it was priced a little higher than I would expect (especially for somewhere out of the North End). Altogether it was a great experience and the food and ambience were quite good, just a bit more expensive than I would have thought.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant. The food is really good. The staff, are very nice. The ambiance itself is good. It's a comfy/cozy vibe. I will definitely come back.

Yelp
Braeden was the best server! I was with two natives and myself was visiting from Vegas! Clam Chowder and Lobstah roll were deeeelish! We three had the clam chowdah and hands down it was the best, even the two New Englanders agreed! Great way to end a few days in Back Bay for a convention! Thanks Braeden and Joe's!

Yelp
Went to Joe's today for brunch while browsing Newbury St. It was fairly busy (around 2pm on a Sunday) but we were seated within 20 minutes and in the meantime got drinks at the bar. We ordered: 2 Rose All Day Spritzers, a lobster roll with fries and the blueberry pancakes with home fries. Rose All Day: Very tasty and refreshing but lacking in alcohol. I can't fault them because this just seems to be the standard at most restaurant these days. They were a good size and I would get one again most likely. Blueberry Pancakes and Home fries: My partner got this and I had a few bites and it was DELICIOUS! She was initially nervous because there was just so much of the blueberry compote. She said these are some of the best pancakes she's had (saying a lot because she doesn't like blueberries!) The pancakes were thin, cooked perfectly and the blueberry flavor was fantastic without being "too much". The home fries were also nicely seasoned and a good sized portion. Lobster Roll: I honestly wasn't expecting much because I can often be let down by lobster rolls but this one was awesome. They didn't have the hot buttered kind that I usually gravitate to but that didn't matter because this was delicious. There was a very generous portion of lobster meat that was fresh with a great texture and a perfect balance of lemon chive mayo and meat. I could've done without the lettuce but it was minimal compared to a lot of places and didn't deceive you into thinking there was more meat than there actually is. The toasted brioche bun was perfect as well. The fries were nothing special but definitely no complaints. Ambiance: Loud, busy with some cute touches. Not the best for intimate conversation but it was fine for us and occasion. There is an upstairs and downstairs level. We sat downstairs which I was thankful for because it was cooler down there (the upstairs is kind of an indoor/outdoor mash up and it was hot out today so I wanted to get away from the heat). Service: The hosts were fine but not overly friendly. Our waiter was great. He was attentive while not being even slightly overbearing and even offered us waters (I always forget to order it so it was a nice touch.) Would definitely return for brunch or dinner !

Yelp
I should not have ignored the Yelp rating. Make sure, if you're reading this, you don't ignore it. We ordered pretty simple. Wanted something easy and quick to get on our way. Saw this and decided to stop. Ordered the Joe's burger and fries. Asked for the meat to be "we'll done" and it came out looking like beef tartare. No thanks. The person I was dining with had the same experience with their burger. The fries were bland and unappealing. The restaurant was really loud and the only redeeming quality was the server who seemed nice.

Yelp
My friends & I were looking for good seafood, and Joe's was a top recommendation. We were able to make reservations 30 mins before arriving which was nice. When we got there it was pretty crowded so it was a good idea. Great service, we were seated immediately and our server checked on us frequently. The food was delicious. I got my lobster roll, Connecticut style, and it was fresh and plentiful.

Yelp
I loved this joint! It was a beautiful day and I was seated at the counter that devides the terrace bar area and outside sidewalk tables. It was great for some shade while allowing for people watching. The service was five stars! I ordered a Sam on draft and the lobster roll with fries. Being from Philly, it was a must try (When in Rome...). I really enjoyed all but for me the ambiance was long. Great place for a nice day just a short walk from the library.

Yelp
Had dinner reservations at 7:30pm. Seated right away on the patio which was very cute. Ambiance was great, a bit noisy but no issues. They served us bread which was crispy & good. We ordered nachos, Hubby & I shared a chicken dish, and our kids got ribs & shrimp scampi. Solid choice for dinner. Server was pretty good, had to flag her down for the check which took a little bit.

Yelp
Great for family and friends but the food is not very good. The servers and the atmosphere were nice and chill. The place is nicely decorated and it gives a nice calming feeling. The food was not bad, both pastas were very oily and it wasn't anything amazing. Tuna Tartar - 5/10 I but into the hart part of the avocado that they left in there. I was distraught. Then I struggled to scoop the tuna into my chip because the tuna pieces weren't chopped properly, there was big chunks. Tuna was chewy, avocado was just avocado. The only flavor comes from the sauce, which made the whole dish better. They could've added more substance into the tartar, but overall it was okay. Not bad not good. Bad because i but into that hard part. Shrimp Scampi - 8/10 Shrimps we're delicious and cooked to perfection!!! However very very thick parm chunks that didn't really melt in my mouth. I was fully chewing cheese. The sauce was okay, very oily. Might need some lemon juice to cut it down. Chicken Picatta -8/10 Flavor wise is amazing, I love it. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, again super oily. The pasta itself was okay. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. A bit expensive for the food.

Yelp
I've been here several times in my 15 years living here, but was just recently here this past Friday with a group of friends who have one thing in common: stomach cancer. We were either a survivor or a caregiver to a family member who had died. That's just the way it goes with this cancer. Anyway this was a table of 6 on a Friday night and we were taken care of amazingly. I wish I could remember our wonderful server's name. She was fantastic and attentive and friendly. Joes is lucky to have her working there. Appetizers: Brussels sprouts (not the kind you didn't like as a kid), and Buffalo chicken dip. Really amazing. Our dinners: 1: Tuna tartare. It wasn't a favorite. But my friend says it was more of a taste preference, nothing was wrong with the dish 2: Mussels. Delicious. She's from GA so not from a place where you can get good, fresh seafood 3: Seared Tuna salad: didn't hear anything while eating which means she was savoring all the bites I can't remember the other 2 dishes. I think another person got the crispy chicken salad and a clam chowder which might have come in a bread bowl? She's also stomachless like me and had to take home leftovers. I got the steak frites (please don't hate me) well done. My stomachless self could only eat half. The other half heated up well in the oven the next day. It wasn't dry despite the well doneness both when I ordered and when it was reheated. I also enjoyed my bahama mama. I had to pretend I was in my early 20s just for a little while. It was a little loud , so us getting old folk had somewhat of a hard time hearing everyone. But I'm glad we came here. One of the people in our party is from California. This is her favorite restaurant and a "Must Eat Here" when she's in town. I know I'll be back!

Yelp
There's a parking garage nearby and some street parking but it was fairly busy here. We had made a reservation for Sunday at noon. We sat in the downstairs areas. Their online menu showed a mimosa flight but sadly they didn't do that anymore. I ordered the Grand Mimosa instead which was delicious. For our food, we ordered the Lobster Benedict and the Buffalo Chicken and Waffles. We also had ordered the Crispy Calamari as an appetizer. Everything was really good and we had great service as well. Definitely recommend coming here!

Yelp
Had dinner here with some gals. Espresso martini was delicious. I got the salmon entree with artichokes and spinach. Very delicious. Just enough food to fill me up. They also served warm bread with butter before hand which was really good. My girls got the fish and chips, steak tips, quinoa bowl and the chicken entree. They all said it was delicious! The chicken entree was massive !!!

Yelp
Joe's on Newbury was a nice little place. The waiter was attentive and he was working the bar as well. The food was very good, and for the place being busy, I thought it came out at an appropriate time. The only reason why I wouldn't rate this place higher is because of the 4 business men who came in and stood right in the middle of the walkway where waiters and people were trying to get through. I believe one of them farted and I could smell it while trying to enjoy my nice meal. On top of that, one of the idiot men's ass was in my face the whole time since they weren't sitting at the bar and standing right in the middle of the floor near my table which was close to the bar. They were also talking poorly about women which I took great offense to. I have nothing to complain about from this place accept for these men who were disturbing the whole night and never moved out of the way for people trying to get through. I think this was wrong of them and it was awful having my night ruined because of these stupid business men who farted and were extremely rude.

Yelp
Visited this spot yesterday for an early dinner. Was recommended to me from a current BU student, must be popular to the locals and students alike because it was pretty full. I had the tuna salad, and the fish was well spiced and smoky. I would definitely order it again. My company had burgers, and after I had a few bites of theirs I might just revisit Boston just to get one for myself. Also heard that when the weather's nice the restaurant opens the large windows at the front. The decor of the place is so comfortable and warm, especially the light coming through the glass ceiling and vine decor. Loved it!

Yelp
Overall a good experience at a standard American fare/bar food restaurant for brunch that won't kill your wallet. Service was excellent but did get a little slow as the brunch rush picked up. Food again was standard brunch fare but with some slight twists (I got the Buffalo Chicken & Waffles) but even then are not standouts. Drinks are pretty standard with some non-alcoholic options which were good but definitely the most over-priced for this type of restaurant in Back Bay. I would recommend for a standard brunch or meal but likely not a special occasion that doesn't revolve around watching sports.

Yelp
We had the nicest server! I can't remember his name, but a younger guy that made us feel right at home! New England clam chowder was fresh and served with an oil on top. I'm still unsure what it was, yet it added an extra level of flavor. The pot of mussels was filled to the brim! Generous portion. As great as the experience and food was, we were really disappointed that we weren't able to get a fountain drink or draft beer. The restaurant was out of CO2...

Yelp
Very good food. The clam chowder in a bread bowl was very good. I tried the chicken waffle which was very good. The crab Benedict was very good too. Good service. The restaurant is bright if you eat upstairs.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Joes for a while now and finally got the chance! Upon walking in, it was pretty dark and we were seated in a side room, which felt isolated from the restaurant. However, it was quieter in this room so conversation was easier. After ordering, food came in a timely manner and there was quite a bit of food per serving. I loveee chicken and waffles so I had to try it here, but they only had buffalo chicken and waffles so I decided to try this dish. I don't like buffalo sauce so they were kind enough to separate the sauce from my meal, but I don't think the chicken and waffles were extraordinary. This ain't something I would order again, but I would recommend it if you like buffalo sauce. My friend's enjoyed their dishes too, and portions were big enough that we were all stuffed afterwards. All in all, I don't know if I would visit again, but it is an easy place to go if you're already on newbury, being one of the largest restaurants on that street.

This place is always a solid option in the city. Great menu and beer selection. I eat here regularly and have never been disappointed! I recommend the nachos and the cure burger- delicious!

Yelp
The braised short rib meatloaf was exquisite. But this is one of those Boston restaurants that believes in strictly following rules. Promptly at 11 pm on a Saturday night, they shut the music off on all of sitting in the front room enjoying our food and good company, and shined bright lights in our eyes by turning the overheads up to the maximum. The service was slow, but that's common. The waitress neglected to tell me the kitchen was going to close. The manager, who easily could've rectified the situation, came over to my table to make me feel bad and say they couldn't bring out a cold dessert for me. Life is hard enough for all of us. There's no need to make guests in your establishment feel unwelcome and badly.

Yelp
Stumbled upon Joes while walking around Boston. The Lobster Roll was light & refreshing. The Caesar salad hit the spot with its lemon flavoring. Bartender was very attentive and the place was busy.

Yelp
Nice casual spot along Newbury Street in Boston. The crowd is popping, the kitchen is bustling and the food and drinks are flowing. This isn't an overly priced place on an otherwise "pricey" Newbury Street but offers you great New England classics such as the lobster roll as well as some more standard entrees like pasta or steak. We were seated at a table downstairs where you can see the open kitchen and watch the chefs work their magic. The place was lively but not obnoxious. We ordered mussels to share and they were amazing. A slight hint of spice. I ordered the lobster roll and it didn't disappoint...though I can't say it was the greatest of all time either. The other orders on our table included steak tips which amounted to a generous serving as well as beef noodle salad which ended up being a tiny bit more spicy than we would have liked. To top it all off, our table also ordered the shrimp scampi linguine which was pretty hearty but also not the best we've ever had. All in all this place is a nice casual spot to go to with friends and/or family. It's most busy on the weekends but it's still a nice place to go check out if you're in that part of the city.

Yelp
Diner food at Newbury street prices. The enclosed patio was beautiful and the service was okay. The oysters were very good!

Yelp
Our family really enjoyed our dinner at Joe's! We were seated within 30 minutes on a Saturday night around 6pm without reservations. We all had burgers and they were all delicious & cooked exactly how we wanted. Excellent service. Our waiter overheard our conversation while we were trying to figure out the train system and explained how to get to certain locations. The 3 tables next to us all ordered the loaded nachos so we had FOMO and will be sure to come back and order those next time we visit Boston :)

Yelp
Nice spot for a date night or night out with friends. Lower level has a lot of available seating. Recommend getting a reservation! My food came out a bit cold, but overall still good.

Yelp
Peter was awesome! Such a genuine and cool guy. We visited from Los Angeles and they seated us in the lower bar. So far the people in Boston haven't been very nice but a Peter changed our minds about the people here. He recommended the cure burger and short rib meatloaf. Both meals were top tier. Best food we tasted tbh. Peter talked to us the whole time we were seated while multitasking and working a busy afternoon. We really loved this guy, hope we get to see him when we come back! Give Peter a raise asap!!! We'll be back for sure and it's all because of him...

Yelp
Peter Petrillo, was the best bartender I have ever had. I asked him for his last name just to make sure he gets the credit. He is the sweetest guy, is a great conversationalist, and has an amazing personality. I work in customer service and he is a hard worker and made sure we had everything we needed.
