Beautiful setting right on the water. Great menu options, lots of variety but kept to a single page so it's not overwhelming. We shared the captains platter as a starter and that turned out to be a great choice. Not a single bite left. Additionally we had the rolls filled with beef, very crispy and an excellent flavor. Shrimp in the scampi were huge! Very affordable even for five.

We had a great time with family celebrating, delicious food, spectacular views! The Crab dip was my favorite. Several ordered the salmon and enjoyed it. The captain’s platter was a hit as was the clam chowder. We also ordered a Reuben sandwich and Shrimp Scampi & Linguine. It was slammed the afternoon we visited, ran out of bread, but we had good service and enjoyed the time together.

Just happened upon this place when the restaurant we planned on going to was a crazy long wait. We were seated immediately at a table with great views of the harbor. We had a lobster roll and the chowder, both were fantastic. The roll was packed with tons of yummy lobster, the roll itself was fresh and nicely toasted. The chowder was delicious; lots of clams and bacon, etc and the cream base had good flavor- definitely not bland. The bread bowl was super fresh and delicious. It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a seafood meal in downtown.

Google
Absolute wonderful sangria! The Cesar salad was delicious, fish and chips were okay, the cookie skillet was great! Bar service was really good but once we moved to a table the waiter was horrible! I'd go back for a drink, probably not to dine again.

Beautiful outdoor spot with stunning water views. Delicious food and great vibes make it perfect for family and friends. Highly recommended for a delightful hangout!

Joe’s Waterfront, situated in a picturesque location by the water, was a fortunate find for us while strolling through the area. This restaurant offers a welcoming atmosphere that complements its scenic views, making it an ideal spot for a casual dining experience. Upon arrival, we were immediately drawn to the menu’s variety, deciding to try the Lobster Roll, Oysters Rockefeller, and a plate of regular oysters. While the Lobster Roll was somewhat underwhelming and didn’t quite meet our expectations, the oysters and the French Onion Soup more than made up for it. The Oysters Rockefeller were particularly impressive, perfectly cooked with a rich topping that enhanced their natural flavors. The regular oysters were fresh and succulent, served chilled and accompanied by a tangy mignonette sauce that highlighted their freshness. The French Onion Soup was another highlight, rich and savory with a generous topping of melted cheese that was thoroughly enjoyable. The service at Joe’s Waterfront stood out as well; the staff was attentive and efficient, ensuring our meals were served promptly and any additional requests were catered to with a smile. We also enjoyed a selection of beers, which were the perfect complement to our meal, offering a refreshing balance to the rich flavors of the food. Overall, Joe’s Waterfront provides a pleasant dining experience with its combination of good food, excellent service, and a relaxed, scenic setting. It’s a spot well worth visiting for anyone in the area looking for quality seafood, delicious soup, and a great drink selection, all at reasonable prices.

Google
Service was a little slow. The bartenders need to be more attentive instead of chatting with their colleagues. The Tuna was OK.

Google
I enjoyed their clam chowder and crab cakes. We ordered a few lobster rolls and unfortunately they did not taste good. Huge disappointment.

Yelp
Sophia was an exceptional waitress! We had two young children with us and still enjoyed a delicious meal with quick and personable service. We would 100% visit here again!

Yelp
Came to this restaurant in the afternoon on Sunday and it was wonderful. We brought both of our kids ages four and 15 months and the atmosphere was great, service was excellent, and the food was amazing. The kids loved it that they got free ice cream at the end too. Family friend, awesome food. Will come back!

Yelp
Lunch. Last day in Boston before heading to Logan. This place is the epitome of casual dining. It's Applebees/Olive Garden with seafood. Even came with a slightly sticky table. Service was pretty good. Drinks are mediocre and overpriced. Food - Not the "best" fish & chips but pretty good. Not the "best" lobster roll but good. Not the "best" clam chowder but good enough. The fish tacos were surprisingly the best menu item we tried.

Yelp
We sat outside on the patio on a busy Sunday night. They estimated our wait about 2 hours for our party of 6, but only ended up being an hour! And that hour was spent letting our toddler play at the playground, in the sandpit and on the carousal. Such a smooth wait and pretty location to be in! Then we had Phil as our waiter and he was honestly THE BEST. He was attentive, informative and very personable! We had the crab dip and oysters (omg so good), as well as multiple main dishes! The Maine Lobster was well worth it and delicious! The lobster rolls and Captain Platter were good as well, although lots of good other options to choose from as well! Overall a really good experience!! Phil even gave us some recommendations to find some good local finds while on our stay! 10/10 for service and an overall great night!

Yelp
Best part is service! Our server was super friendly, attentive, and kind. Got the fish tacos! They had a good amount of sauce and were decently filling. Interior is dark warm and classy

Yelp
I really liked this place. It's on the water with a view of the harbor. Service was awesome. Our waiter was so cute and made great recommendations. I enjoyed the clam chowder and lobster roll - it had a LOT of lobster. I'd do it again!

Yelp
First I ordered the crab cocktail. It was very good, but seemed a little skimpy for the price ($22, I think). Next up were the Parmesan truffle fries. I loved that I could smell the truffle right away. I hate it when I order truffle fries and can't detect the truffle. These were great on truffle, but weak on Parmesan and also just barely still warm when they were brought out. But still, I thought this would be a 5-star review until the service dropped way off. For almost a half hour my drink was empty and I was wanting to order one more. The server checked in twice in that time on a table near me, but didn't even glance in my direction. I would still come back again for sure. The food was good, and the outdoor patio was nice. But there was some definite room for improvement.

Yelp
Beautiful spot, never full. Food feels like of a decent hotel. Had the chicken BLT sandwich with fries - I wish there was more avocado and the bread could have been more fresh, but overall it was great with a generous portion of chicken in it. Fries were great too :)

Yelp
Visiting the city with friends from out of town. It was a Monday so we were hopeful that it wouldn't be too crowded especially because we had a larger party. When we called they said there was a table for us or so they said. We arrived and then we were told that it wasn't a table together but actually two tables next to each other which in fact it was not. It was two table in different areas of the dining room. The service for someone to actual come over and get our drink order took forever. The service in general was just extremely slow. Our overall time there was almost 3 hours and with young children in the party that is an extremely long time. The food was just average. Nothing special which was disappointing especially being by the water and having the seafood be nothing but average especially for the prices we were charged. So overall disappointed by the whole experience.

Yelp
If you're coming to Joe's, it's gotta be for the views! It's located in an awesome spot, right on the edge of the North End, just along the water. There's nothing better on a nice day. They do have plenty of indoor seating as well. I found the service to be fairly standard. My friends and I enjoyed our meals. The food was solid for American cuisine, but nothing out of this world. It's one of those standard spots that has something for everyone. I enjoyed my Baby Back Ribs and was quite full when I left. No complaints from me!
google avatar

Yelp
I decided to stop at Joe's and grab a quick bite. Their menu features a heavy selection of sandwiches/burgers, and appetizers. I was debating between the raw seafood items and prepared foods; I ended up choosing the beet and goat cheese salad, and crab cake. The food arrived quickly and as ordered (I asked for no cilantro in the crab cake). The crab cake looked a bit unfortunate, but tasted alright. The beet salad however, was a mess. The greens were drenched in dressing, and the goat cheese tasted like (and had the consistency of) mayonnaise. Despite the food, the service was awesome. My server was super friendly and worked at an efficient pace.

Yelp
The waitstaff were phenomenal and a completely delight. The food was even better than I had imagined and the bread that is served as "while you wait" is delicious! Went for brunch during the summer and it was a beautiful site to see both in and out of the restaurant. If you plan on sitting outside during the summer arrive early or make a reservation. There is a very long wait if you do not.

Yelp
We visited Joe's Waterfront on 5/31 to celebrate a special moment after our engagement, expecting a great experience to match the occasion. Unfortunately, what we got was incredibly disappointing. After being seated, we were completely ignored for about 15 minutes. When our waitress finally came by, she made it abundantly clear through her attitude and demeanor that she didn't want to be there at all. We were in a celebratory mood and tried not to let it ruin the evening, but things only got worse. It took another 15 minutes just to get our drinks, and 20 more minutes passed with no sign of our waitress before I had to ask the hostess to find her. When the food finally arrived, both the steak frites and steak tips, which were ordered medium, came out completely well done...dry and overcooked. At that point, it was clear that neither the quality of the service nor the food mattered to this restaurant. We didn't even bother sending anything back; we just wanted to pay and leave. For the price this place charges, the experience should be far better. I wouldn't recommend Joe's Waterfront to anyone looking for quality service, food, or a positive atmosphere, especially on a day that's supposed to be memorable for all the right reasons.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times for lunch with kids. We've always sat indoors, and the waterfront views are fantastic even from inside. The booths are comfy and the decor is nautical and inviting. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. They all help one another out. The kids' menu is great for picky eaters as well as for kids with allergies. If you don't ask for the ice cream sundae that comes with their meals, they won't offer/bring it. For adults, there's a nice list of signature cocktails and decent beer/wine. The food menu is not that exciting but it's fairly priced (especially for a waterfront restaurant in Boston) and they do it all well - the burgers, the salads, the lobster roll, the fries. You can't really go wrong here.

Lori P.

Yelp
Have gone twice and was disappointed both times. The lobster was rubbery, the filet mignon was tough and overcooked, and the restaurant and restrooms were dirty. The servers were really nice, but service was really slow and it seems that they might've been understaffed.

Reggie P.

Yelp
The food was great here, took myself on a little date and got the streak/fries and chocolate ice cream, my server Vidall was amazing, I appreciate him so much for taking care of me . Very calm here . Love it

Yelp
Update-- no longer dog friendly. Went there today and they said only service dogs. I literally walk by this place every single day and have seen dogs there within the week, and all of a sudden they're not dog friendly? They've literally given my dog a plate of bacon before.... When I asked when their policy changed, he just said "city ordinance". The city's patio policy hasn't changed... complete BS. I've told everyone to go here over the last 4 years, but not anymore.

Yelp
We had two attempts here: on our first day visiting we stopped on their sunny balcony with the great harbor view - just after 15 min without anything happening (no waiter, no water) we concluded to go somewhere else.. (This is why it's a point down from five) Now two days later we have them another chance and were positively surprised! This time things worked out well! Our attentive waiter brought us the Nachos with spicy lobster- so good !! Bring some hungry friends - this is too much for two.

Yelp
Very nice casual waterfront Restaurant in Boston overlooking the Harbor. The service very good, all the food was great I recommend the lobster roll and the calamari. The prices on the higher side for a casual restaurant. It was very busy for a Thursday night and definitely recommended reservations.
google avatar

Tyler T.

Yelp
The service and environment were great! Thought, the food came up a little short for me. I had the calamari as an appetiser which was delicious. I then had the hot lobster roll with a side Caesar as my main entree. For the price, I would expect a larger roll. It was still good, but did not stack up against the other lobster rolls/food I had in the city! Still 4 stars because of the service and appetiser!

Yelp
Joe's Waterfront was the first meal I enjoyed while in Boston. After making the long cross-country flight, I met up with some friends before they headed back home. We needed somewhere quick and kid-friendly, so we ended up at Joe's Waterfront. This is a very popular harborside bar and grill where cocktails and food are the order of the day. Clearly, their specialty is seafood, but really anything that is breaded they do an extremely good job with. As I wanted to try a little bit of everything, I got the captains platter from the recommendation of our server.

Yelp
Nothing special. For a restaurant on the water in a historic city, I expected more/better... I came here for dinner with my husband and in-laws. We started with the complementary bread and it was fantastic! Warm, soft and served with plenty of butter. Then we ordered nachos & caprese salad, both were just ok. The cheese sauce on the nachos was fantastic but other than that, they were pretty much naked; guacamole on top and diced tomatoes on the side. The caprese salad was fresh but nothing unique about it. For my entree, I ordered the crab-crusted haddock. It was good but overall, a boring dish. The crab crust was the best part. The side of spinach left much to be desired. You can definitely get better, more "bang-for-your-buck" seafood at a lot of other places in this city...

Yelp
Fast service. The bread was good with the butter. The shrimp was really good also. The by vibe was nice and I liked the music.

Yelp
Listen to me LISTEN TO ME when I die, I want in my eulogy for someone to say that I only lived as long as I did because the shrimp scampi at Joes gave me a reason to wake up each day. That Joes vibes were unmatched and I craved it. It is so so sinfully delicious. When I undoubtedly commit a crime (accidental tax fraud bc I don't understand the IRS or jaywalking?) I hope they sentence me harshly so I can ask for this as my last meal. I have never loved a dish this much it is truly in my veins it is in my bones I need it all the time. Don't know what my vague food craving is for? Probably Joes shrimp scampi. I genuinely cried at work this morning but got this for lunch and now I am FINE I am so fine. It is the best decision you can make to eat this but don't eat too much or they'll run out before I come back tomorrow. Mac and cheese also good. Honestly all food very good and ppl who work here are the best, the absolute gods that they are-kind funny and helpful. And what a great vibe outside and inside-right on the water. Future wife, Take me here and I'll give you everything I have.

Yelp
First time having a Boston lobster roll. What an absolute delicacy. No matter the price you kind of have to give it a try. This location specifically was placed right on the Boston harbor and gave the experience the perfect setting. Server was amped. Gave off some serious Jonah Hill vibes. Idk what to make of him but deserved a mention for sure. Only thing missing was tea. Which would have been promptly tossed in the harbor. Would recommend.

Morgan R.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner and drinks and had a mixed but overall positive experience. Drinks: The jalapeño margarita was surprisingly smooth--not too spicy, just the right kick. A solid choice for anyone who likes a little heat without being overwhelmed. The mango mule was also excellent--refreshing, balanced, and definitely one I'd order again. Food: The oysters were the only real miss of the night. The shucking was a bit rough--several had broken shells in them, which was disappointing. The buffalo chicken dip was pretty good. It had a generous amount of chicken, though the chips that came with it were a little stale, which took away from the experience. The lobster roll was just okay--maybe a 6/10. The lobster itself tasted a bit rubbery, like it wasn't the freshest or had been overcooked. The crispy chicken salad was a hit. It was huge, and the chicken was fresh and really well cooked. The crispy noodles added a nice crunch. The only heads-up is the dressing comes already mixed in and it's on the heavier side--so if you're picky about that, definitely ask for it on the side or request light dressing. Service: Our server was great--friendly, attentive, and gave helpful recommendations without being pushy. Ambiance: The vibe was casual and relaxed. It wasn't too packed when we went, and being right on the water gave it a really pretty, peaceful feel. Great spot to unwind with a drink and take in the view. Would I come back? Probably--especially for drinks and that chicken salad. Just might skip the oysters next time.

Yelp
Delicious view and beautiful setting along the Boston Bay. We arrived after an incredible visit at Paul Reveres house. We walked in and requested an outside table along the water outside in the shade. Within 5 minutes, our table was ready. We walked out to the pier and there was no table in the shade. The server/hostess was confused. They did a great job and identified a table that wasn't sat there by the hostess. They politely asked them to move as the table was reserved for our group. I thought that was kind and considerate of the host/server. We sat and looked at the menu and ordered our drinks. We had the summer margarita and iced water. We ordered calamari and clam chowder with clam cakes for our appetizers. Delish! The clam chowder was chefs kiss!!!!!! :) highly recommend! The calamari were also delicious! Our meals were fabulous! Definitely would recommend to all visitors.

Yelp
Had lunch here before a Celtics game and it was fantastic!! Right on the water, pretty much all seats had a great view of the harbor. Loved the look of the inside as well. Our server was great, a very nice man and attentive. My espresso martini was one of the best I've had. We had the Brussels for an appetizer and they were the best Brussels I've had from a restaurant. My meal, the cobb salad, was huge and delish. My boyfriend got the cure burger which was HUGE, he couldn't put it down, he said that was also so so good. Overall amazing place would definitely be back.
google avatar

Tina D.

Yelp
While some items are a bit overpriced, I thought the food was still pretty good regardless. My family and I were looking for some American food and this def checks the box. Loved the view this restaurant had as well! The server were kind and attentive. Would 10/10 go back again :)

Dennis Jr D.

Yelp
Literally sitting at this restaurant, worst service ever. We tried ordering drinks and the waitress refused because we did not have our Canadian passports. We understood this was the law which is fine, but the waitress did not ID the table beside us who got drinks. The waitress said she only IDs people if they do not look at least over 70 years of age, which is fine and understandable. The people sitting next to us look to be in their 40s. We are also in our 40s.... The discrimination is too much. We spoke with the manager and told him that the table beside us were not even ID'd and he had no response to what we said. Literally just being discriminated in this restaurant.
google avatar

Lilian W.

Yelp
I had lunch here with my family and it was a pleasant but average experience. The service was good, our waitress was friendly and checked in on us several times. We started with a shared calamari appetizer which was tasty, but nothing special. The crispy chicken salad was quite good, with cold noodles, lettuce, well crisped chicken, and a light sesame sauce. The ahi tuna salad had a beautiful presentation, and my MIL enjoyed it. However, the chicken BLT was pretty mid and my shrimp scampi was not great either. It was much too salty and the sun dried tomato flavor overpowered everything else. The jumbo shrimp were fine, but I found the noodles and sauce lacking. Overall, all our food felt a bit overpriced for the quality and taste.

Yelp
Food was okay. location was A+ Server seemed really overwhelmed but did her best for the amount of customers they had

Yelp
Wings were delish but there was ONLY 5! Such a small portion. Happy I was only with one other so we each got 2. Server was very friendly

Yelp
Went here just for drinks. When my friend and I first sat down, the bartender quickly took our order. However, we were there for about 90 minutes, and couldn't get the bartender's attention even to bring our check. We would have ordered a second drink, and wanted water, but seated at the end of the bar, seems that we were forgotten. There was even a time when there were only about 4 other people seated at the bar, and he still didn't even look our way. Finally just left cash on the bar since we couldn't get our check. We visited Joe's location on Newbury Street a few days ago and the service was great.
google avatar

Brooke C.

Yelp
I absolutely love the patio experience here. I went in a party of three as a walk in and got an amazing table right on the water. I got oysters and gin cocktail on the summer specials menu. My drink was huge and delicious! The oysters were good as well. They even brought heaters out as the night started to get cool, it was amazing!
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
We wanted to eat at the place next door but the wait was an hour. We looked around for another place to eat and saw that this place had a 3.2 star review but decided to risk it. Guys, this place was amazing. The service was fast, the food was excellent, the drinks were delicious, we even got dessert and *chefs kiss*. The staff was wonderful. Not a single complaint. 10/10 would recommend.

Kaylee C.

Yelp
We were told that we had to wait 30 minutes for a table for 5 on a Sunday afternoon which was completely understandable-but ended up waiting a little longer. I was assured they were just waiting for a table to get up and there was no issue. My table ordered the crab dip which was absolutely delicious-but came with not enough chips (we got 5). We also got the buffalo chicken dip which was absolutely amazing as well! For dinner we enjoyed the maine lobster, lobster roll, lobster mac-and-cheese, chicken tenders, and the fish and chips. Everything was very delicious! However, the lobster mac and cheese (that we payed extra for) came out without any meat so we had to ask for them to take it back and give us another. The chips with the buffalo dip were also stale but the dip itself made up for it. Besides the few mishaps with the mac-and-cheese and chips, everything was pretty tasty and we enjoyed ourselves. Our server wasn't the most attentive but she did a good job making sure that we had refills and dishes out of the way.

V V.

Yelp
Came because the place we meant to dine at had a wait time of 2+ hours and we would have missed our movie had we waited. Food was solid but nothing to write home about. The service time, however, was incredibly slow and we waited at least 20 mins before anyone came by to ask if we'd like some water. Waited another 15 before we could flag down anyone to take our order, and that person couldn't take our order so we had to wait for our server to return, which was another 15. Then the food itself came out reasonably quickly all things considered. The ambience of the place is great and the location has a stellar view of the waterfront, true to its name. Probably wouldn't come back just for the view but solid option if you're just around the area and need a quick bite.

Yelp
Thier "melt in your mouth/ ridiculously tender' steak tips are reason enough to give Joe's a 5 star rating. Couple that with the location ( right on the water) and the professional yet personable manner of the waitstaff , great drinks and an eclectic menu and you'll understand my decision to give a rare 5 star rating . Good job Joes!

Yelp
Our first stop in Boston! We shared the calamari and mussels. They were so delicious and the perfect amount for the 3 of us. Spectacular cocktails and spunky waitress!

P. G.

Yelp
Visiting friends who reside in Boston. First time eating at Joes. Reservation for 5 adults. Seated immediately. After waiting over 15 minutes we asked a passing waiter to help us. Although his section was the other end of the restaurant he was very happy to help. He told us a waiter was assigned but forgot to come to our table. Food was delicious. Two salmon, two fish tacos and a burger. Decent portions all served together. Unfortunately, we never saw the waiter again. Had to go to bar to get drinks for dinner. No one asked during our dinner or while walking out ( there was someone at the greeter stand talking to another employee) how our meal was. Restaurant floor was dirty with food particles and paper. Both mens and ladies room were a mess with overflowing garbage cans and wet sink tops. The check billfold was a grease stained mess. As were we're paying the check I noticed a busser cleaning the dishes, cups, etc from a table. While doing so she dropped her table cleaning towel on the floor and left it there till she removed all the items. She then picked it up and proceed to wipe the table with the same towel. Definitely, not returning. Although the food was delicious, the lack of cleanliness, unsanitary cleaning of tables, is a disaster waiting to happen. If this occurs in the dining area and bathrooms I don't want to think about the kitchen.

Yelp
If I could rate my experience in pieces I would. Our server was fantastic. 5 's! Her name is Zoey, we were on the 2nd floor, restaurant was super busy (it was the 4th of July), but she was fantastic! Food 2 's ... I asked for the artichoke dip to come extremely hot, it was warm but not hot. The chips be home made... some were crunchy while others were terribly undercooked. The Brussels sprouts were good. Bread was delicious Fish & Chips... I understand the restaurant was busy but everyone who gets fish and chips wants a crispy batter. It simply wasn't worth ordering. While Joe's is great for the atmosphere and view (depending on where you're sitting), the food was not impressive.

Michelle B.

Yelp
OVERPRICED!!! $15 for a tiny mimosa, sandwiches over $20 - Food was mediocre at best...barely any avocado on the avocado toast, barely any chicken on the chicken sandwich, fries were barely cooked.....location is nice, our server was nice, crab dip was delicious, but hardly any bread to dip it with. Poor experience, will not be going back.
google avatar

Yelp
A little expensive, but it is so worth the quality of food, atmosphere, location, and service! Such a nice place to come and eat. You can eat inside or out! The bbq chicken flatbread was amazing!

Yelp
This place was awesome! Right on the water and the lobster role was to die for. Vidal was our server and he was so chill and helpful!

Yelp
Decided on an impromptu Sunday brunch while walking around Commercial Wharf. We had a short wait - about 15 mins, but it was worth it. We asked if we could get a shady spot and let them know we had our pup with us. Our server came over right away and took drink orders and even brought a water bowl for our pup. We ordered the Cobb salad to share, the fish tacos, and a breakfast plate. For drinks, we got a Downeast cider - the creamsicle blend and a lemonade. I actually didn't care for the cider (let's save those details for another review) so the server removed it from our bill which was nice. All the food was super tasty and we enjoyed sitting by the water, and appreciated the speedy and friendly service. We can't wait to come back for another brunch!
