Family-run for decades in a leafy setting, this old-school favorite mixes Cantonese-American comforts, seafood, and a loyal following. A frequent Baltimore Magazine readers’ poll finalist, and still going strong with daily service.

Stopped by for a late lunch and had Wonton Soup, plum wine and the Triple Delight. This place is a regular go to restaurant. Most people who eat here have been for over a decade. Joey Chiu's is consistently good.

Nice Americanized Chinese cuisine in a very accessible location. Service was abundant and attentive deposits also catering to a birthday party, a Ravens game crowd, and indoor+outdoor patrons. Water glass was topped off every time someone passed by. Food options were excellent and varied including lots for veggie and meat lover alike. Consistently good dishes. Oddly also served sushi, but we didn’t try any as that seemed like pandering to the ignorant.

March 2025, after dining at a Baltimore Seafood restaurant (True Chesapeake), we were still hungry. So we tried Joey Chiu's, a chinese restaurant that was on our list for a quick takeout. It's located at the end of Jones Falls Expressway (I-83) right past 695 in a very quaint area where a creek runs parallel to the restaurant. We wanted a drink while waiting for our carryout, but the bar area was packed with an older local crowd. So, after ordering, we sat in the 🚗 for 10 minutes for the two dishes that came to $37, which I believe is a little above the average price. Our normal carryout Chinese restaurant is in Ellicott City, so this was probably a one and done for us. Good service, polite crowd, plenty of free parking but the restaurant interior seemed dated and the food was bland. 3+ star rating.

Beautiful, up to date, clean and traditional is how I would describe the dining room. There is a lovely little stream that flows just outside the floor to ceiling windows. The food is excellent with big but not excessive portions. Good vegetarian selection.

Update 7/27/25 Had dinner at Joey Chiu's with my wife and one of my grandkids. Delicious. Had the opportunity to shake Joey's hand. He's looking great. Update: Had dinner at Joey Chiu's today, 3/31/24 with seven friends. Still the same excellent food and stellar service. They gave us a round table with a lazy Susan in the center. Joey Chiu's is an excellent Chinese restaurant. I love eating there. It has ample free parking. From the parking lot, you cross a bridge over a nicely landscaped stream to enter the restaurant. The decor is the American idea of oriental, and if you're lucky, you can score a table next to the large window overlooking the stream. Once you get seated, they give you fried noodles, Chinese mustard and apricot sauce. The noodles are the wide kind of noodles with little air holes. They are fresh and crisp. The food is fresh and delicious. It tastes like American Chinese food is supposed to taste. I've found that Chinese food in other countries, including Canada, doesn't taste the same as American Chinese food. Personally, I could eat Chinese food all the time. They do it in China, after all. This evening, we had edamame, spring rolls, cauliflower shrimp fried "rice" and crispy beef. All were delicious. Service was friendly and prompt. We had the opportunity to shake Joey Chuy's hand. I highly recommend Joey Chuy's Greenspring Inn.

So excited to find Gluten Free Chinese food! I loved the Hunan Bird's Nest... Excellent! I also had Hunan Beef on another visit. Great low carb option with out the rice. (I also eat Keto.)

Google
We really love the atmosphere and decor of Jimmy Chiu. We love the fact that when you enter the restaurant, they greet you very well and very professionally. I don’t recall ever having to wait on a table because we basically come at lunchtime. Let me tell you the food is excellent and spot on. Every meal that we’ve had has been good. The menu is priced reasonable for the customer. I’m not sure how they do it but that food has been tasty and they are good portions every time we dine here. The waiters and staff give exceptional service to their customers. They tend to their every needs. I want to thank this restaurant for being a good place to stop in at lunchtime after visiting Johns Hopkins dealing with cancer. Sitting here in your restaurant and having a good food is really a comforting thing to have when you’re Dealing with an illness. So thank Jimmy Chiu for giving us really great meals and excellent customer service.

Looking for a Chinese style sit in restaurant this one could be for you. Nestled in the back of Greenspring station there is plenty of parking. No reservations needed. Upon entry you are greeted and seated quickly. The menu is full of all your favorites and more. The fried rice is a go to, the small (pictured)could feed 2 people. I also got the General Tso Shrimp, and the Crabmeat Wonton all delish. If in the area try them out .

Yelp
Where We Bout to Eat At This food was so good, I wanted to go back the next day! Tucked away in Greenspring, Joey Chiu's is the perfect spot for a quiet solo dinner or a cute date night. Meals are served family style and the prices are so reasonable, you'll want to order everything on the menu! And the service was spectacular! I will definitely be returning soon!

Yelp
While Joey Chiu's is not a secret for their fantastic Chinese cuisine, do not sleep on their sushi. The greenspring valley combo is the perfect meal (i ask for the tuna to be spicy) but can't go wrong either way. The lobster roll is also a 100/10. They source the freshest seafood, including scallops that are truly so fresh and cooked to perfection. I hear they also have great oysters when in stock, will have to try those. In addition to the sushi and seafood, Joey Chiu's egg rolls are hands down the best I have ever had. Truly an iconic staple on the menu. Do not pass on these!! I have been coming here for nearly a decade and know most of the servers by name, the service is impeccable. The ambiance is really great too, the property sits on the deep run tributary and often times you can see the turtle that lives under the bridge. A seat at the bar or by the giant window in the dining room are both great choices! Love this gem, the only note I would add is that they pretty please bring back the Sunday Brunches!!

Yelp
I heard about Joey Chiu from the Baltimore magazine and from a friend who's friends with the owners. I knew the prices will be on the higher end per their menu online, but I decided to treat myself and my mom. The place looks posher than the usual Chinese eat-in restaurants. Each table already has the complimentary wonton crisps (looks like tortilla chips). It comes with a sweet sauce (yummy!) and yellow mustard (spicy!). We ordered the Ming Shrimp and the orange-flavored duck. The shrimp dish had six pieces of jumbo shrimp, and the sauce was nothing spectacular. The winner, for us, was the duck. It was super tender and the skin was crispy and crunchy. You can literally hear the crunch when you bite into it. The sauce it came with was very good and we also dipped the wonton chips in it. I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 because duck is hard to pull off. Should we venture back out there, I think I will try the peking duck as our experience with the duck dish was very good.

Yelp
Service: The service here gets a six out of five--no exaggeration. It's one of the most attentive dining experiences I've had in a long time. Nearly six different team members came by to say hello or check in on us. Friendly, warm, and welcoming--it's clear why the place stays packed even before considering the food. Food - Peking Duck: Now, my review is purely based on the Peking duck--a dish I absolutely love and hold to a high standard. And while it wasn't bad, it also wasn't amazing. Just decent. I appreciated the thin pancakes (a plus), but you could tell they weren't made fresh. It leaned heavily on the Americanized side of Chinese cuisine--fork and knife only, no chopsticks offered, which says a lot. Come for the hospitality and atmosphere; it's genuinely great. Just don't expect the most authentic Peking duck experience.

Yelp
The food is always good and plentiful! The atmosphere is generally a great vibe, however tonight there was a large group in the bar, conversing very loudly with foul language, it was so bad I had to move tables. It's such a great place and this type of atmosphere is definitely a blight. In addition, $4.95 for club soda was a bit excessive, I could justify it if I were not ordering dinner...

Yelp
Been a long time customer here, but it doesn't seem the same. No delivery but there is takeout. Restaurant is beautiful with initial walkway going over a stream. King Pao shrimp was soggy and large shrimp didn't let the sauce stick to it. Shrimp fried rice had all the components needed but no distinctive flavors. Needed a zip of some sort. Egg Rolls were huge and well fried and my favorite part of the meal.

Yelp
Save your taste buds... and your wallet. Joey Chiu's looks like a nice place on the outside. Upon entering you're greeted by a bar and it gives you a slight sports bar feeling. Not the vibe I personally want from my Chinese food place but to each their own. Further entering the establishment you get the feeling that they cater to nicer gatherings like large corporation meals or smaller business meals. If you're me you start to think more positively about the place. Sure the sports bar entrance was weird but surely they know what they're doing if they cater to the business world. Upon sitting down you're given a menu and a plate of chips and sauces (sweet and spicy) are dropped off. It's been ages since I've had this particular table snack at an Asian place and my hopes continue to rise. We look up the difference between chow mein and lo mein online because we remember one of them is supposed to be fried and crunchier than the other. Chow mein it is. We decided to splurge and get an appetizer. And then the food comes out and our hopes shatter. What we got: Chicken lettuce wraps - 2.5* this was not the stellar entrance to an exquisite dining experience I was anticipating. The chicken was average and came in a stir fry of cooked frozen vegetables. A large hunk of lettuce and sauce came on the side. I think to myself, PF Chang's does better. Chicken chow mein - 0.5-1* the dish had no noodles in it at all. Instead, a small bowl of short, store bought fried chow mein noodles was placed next to the plate. You know, the kind people sprinkle on their homemade Asian inspired salads? The dish was slimy and flavorless and after a few attempts to eat it, and one attempt to flavor it with a spicy chili sauce, we didn't touch it the rest of the meal. Mongolian beef - 3* this was by far the best dish of the night. But I've had cheaper corner-store Chinese restaurants do better. I wouldn't put much weight in this rating but it was the highlight of the meal. But what about the rice? Surely they couldn't mess up the rice. Well, that depends on who you ask. Mine was your regular average plain old rice. The usual side to your saucey Chinese dish. I silently rolled my eyes when my partner complained about his rice. He then walked back his statement saying he must just be super negative about the overall experience because the food was down right awful. And then, as we were getting ready to go, I tried his rice. And it was bad. It was a bit harder, as if it had been dished up and left out. And my heart broke for him. They even got the RICE wrong.

Yelp
We had wanted to try this restaurant for some time since it has been in this location for so long. We could not have been more disappointed. Upon entering, we clearly were taken aback by the musty smell of the restaurant. I ordered the chicken teriyaki, one of my favorite dishes. My immediate impression was that it was quite a generous portion. Unfortunately, the food was not hot and the chicken was beyond overcooked. It was so dry and so chewy I could not eat it. The server was pleasant and immediately removed the plate. I thought the shrimp and noodle dish would be safer choice. Again, this entree was not much better. It was difficult to eat. And again the food was not hot. The noodles were mushy and the shrimp was tasteless. I ate a bit of it but it was just not good. I asked the server to take it away. I paid for the bill and we left. My partner stated that his meal was "just ok." I am not a complainer and can't remember the last time I was so disappointed in restaurant food. We will never return to this restaurant and will share the experience with our family and friends.

Yelp
I am not usually a lover of Chinese food but this place is by far my favorite place and I don't eat Chinese food from anywhere else! The service is great and the food is always hot and fresh! The chicken is white meat chicken breast and the portions are huge. The ambiance is nice too. You can get cozy date night vibes or go with a large group. I also love that there's adequate parking. I usually get sushi and general tso chicken. Can't go wrong with either of those!

Yelp
Disappointed on a rainy Friday late lunch. Not crowded at the bar, but tight and uncomfortable seating. Literally had to squeeze past 3 seated and one standing customer to get to seats. We entered unnoticed and had to wait 8 to 10 minutes to attract a server. Food was plentiful but only average...except for the soups. The soups were outstanding. My wife ordered the chicken in lettuce and I had the house noodles. Our delicious soups were hot and sour and wonton. Service was fine after we got someone's attention. Good parking area with several HC spots. Seemed to be a full alcohol bar, but no draft beer. We drank water. We were checking it out for possible future visits with our full family. We will take a pass on that idea.

Yelp
The food has gotten bland and amercanized. Sadly the staff have become complacent and almost dismissive of customers needs. Overpriced for warm mush.
google avatar

Joseph C.

Yelp
Very clean. The food was amazing. Also a very nice view out the window of a stream if you sit at a table. We had Orange Chicken and the Puu Puu tray. The only problem was the customer service. Took 20 minutes from when we sat down to when the waiter came and we placed the order and then another 20 minutes to get the food. Pretty good overall. Would recommend, but only if you're patient.

Yelp
I was hopeful on my first experience at the establishment despite the previous honest reviews here and G___e. Ordered the most simplest of item to get correct, Chicken Lomein. Have you ever experienced over oiled noodles and chicken with zero taste? If not, this is your spot. They offered a mixture of some premixed brown sauce to help but it really didn't do much. What a waste of a good spot. The inside needs updating along with the menu. I eyespied some huge pieces of chicken on another plate. That's a complete turn off on quality. Location is excellent with good potential to be great. My recommendation is to get rid of the chef immediately. Food YUCK. Look elsewhere.

Yelp
Great place for large family celebrations! Great cocktails, extensive menu, great for catered events. Fabulous service!

Angela R.

Yelp
Went with a large group (8) and they were over busy and they gave us a separate room which was great for us and other diners. AND they didn't ignore us. Our server came quite often so we were never seeking her out. Drinks refreshed and on top of things. Several got traditional food and I ordered the bird's nest and shrimp toast and had a very filling dish as well as delicious lunch the following day. Food was served hot and quickly after we ordered. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place. It's not around the corner for us but would return if we are in the area again. The menu was large. So many choices. All the tables had a basket of fried wantons chips, duck sauce, and hot mustard sauce. The fried wantons were so fresh and the hot mustard was a must. I am usually not a fan of hot mustard but this was amazing. We started with sliced roasted pork. The pork were very lean and full of flavors. The General Tso Chicken was good. Not spicy at all but a little on the sweet side. We like our chicke in smaller pieces. Overall a good dish. Lastly, the pan fried noodle with chicken, shrimp, and vegetables. The dish was huge - not expected. It noodles were nice and crispy. I couldn't stop eating it but had to stop myself. There are plenty og leftovers for few more meals. Overall, great experience.

Yelp
We ate there 1-1-24. The hostess was rude when we checked in . We were seated and we had 2 different waiters . The food took a while to come to the table . The food was strictly fair . Price was extremely high for the quality of the food. It was very noisy in the restaurant. Then we had an issue with our check. I was very unhappy with my dining experience. I wont go back.

Jackie C.

Yelp
I ordered takeout and my food seemed well prepared but next time I need to go inside and sit down. Based on the taste of my egg foods young I'll say this is a maybe for now.

Lois D.

Yelp
I have given this restaurant more chances than I can count. Today I'm done. Since when are peas and carrots a Chinese vegetable? Sean the bartender was very laissez-faire as usual. Maybe he just doesn't like women at the bar. This restaurant sucks.

Tom T.

Yelp
Best American Chinese food in the Baltimore area. Peking Duck is very good and not overpriced. Dishes are not over sauced. Can get crowded at dinner time.
google avatar

Jamie F.

Yelp
Food was good. I really liked the crab wonton. Service was a little slow but it was lunch time. Nice place and clean. I would like to come back and try their blueberry vodka and lemonade

Jeffrey C.

Yelp
Plenty of parking. Make a reservation because this place can get busy. Even so , service is good. Portion's are enough to take home for an additional meal. And if you want to make an adjustment to their dish , they will happily do it.

Maxine S.

Yelp
Always good food, service and ambiance! Their soups are superb as well as the variety of dishes they serve.

Yelp
This is our favorite Chinese restaurant for years! Carry out or eat in, highly recommend it

Yelp
A wonderful Gem hidden in plain sight. I passed this locations for years and wondered if it was good. Tl;dr - it's amazing. First- the ambience is fantastic. The bar area is perfect for a quick drink while awaiting a table or for quick seating and service if the dining room is full. While I don't live close enough to drink alcohol here, there seems to be a lively crowd congregating at the bar most evenings. The dining room is comfortable and well lit (obviously there have been times over the past two years where this was restricted, and they had set up outdoor dining areas). Second- The staff are friendly and efficient. The front of the house always does a great job. The kitchen staff are also efficient, as food comes out nonstop. Even large orders are managed with no significant delays in any one item... everything comes out together and piping hot! Third- The parking lot is huge so no issues with parking. Curbside takeaway is still outside, despite the easing restrictions. Probably they realized it's just more efficient than having everyone walk into the front. Fourth- The food is phenomenal. Classic Americanized Chinese food options interspersed with various Japanese and other Asian influences. There is nothing on this menu that has been a true 'miss' so far. Menu: Apps: Egg rolls - good, not great. A little soggy. Spring rolls - GREAT! Crisp and light. House hot mustard and duck sauce are phenomenal! Meat dumplings- fantastic; get them pan fried. Dipping sauce is a bit thin. Chicken dishes (best stuff on the menu): General Tso's chicken/orange chicken/sesame chicken- lightly dusted with flour and deep fried. The chicken is white meat and perfect in size and texture. Hunan chicken- chicken thighs pounded thin and sautéed, served with crisp veggies in a wonderful savory hunan sauce. Kung Pao chicken- decent level of spice but not overpowering. Very well balanced between chicken, peanuts, and veggies. Delicious sauce. Chicken cashew- Very well balanced between chicken, cashews, and veggies. Delicious sauce... no heat at all so a good alternative to Kung Pao if you have a sensitive palate. Sweet and sour chicken- tempura battered deep fried chicken breast... perfectly cooked. Of course it is served with the sauce separate... as it should be! Seafood dishes (we haven't had many of these): Hunan Shrimp- very tasty and the shrimp are large and plentiful! Shrimp vegetables- simple sauce, crisp veggies. Beef dishes (just OK): Mongolian beef and beef with broccoli are decent. Honestly would stick with chicken and shrimp as those are better overall dishes. Sides; White rice is well prepared and not soggy or too starchy. Fried rice dishes are great! Could treat one order as enough for four people since your entrees will come with white rice as well. Lo Mein is very good... a must have if you like this dish in general. There is still so much on this menu we have left to try, but the stuff we love is so great, It's rare that we deviate!

Yelp
There's a lot of good things going on at this restaurant. Full bar with high top tables and flat screen TVs. Refined yet casual atmosphere. The restaurant is large and serves traditional American cuisine as well as sushi and Asian food. They also have fresh lobster that you can pick from the tank. This restaurant is bright, open, friendly and good for small or large gatherings. The service and food are 5 star. They have a private parking lot with plenty of parking and beautiful landscaping that is nicly decorated for Christmas with a stream running through the center. TIP: If you have a good sence of humor and not a prude, after your meal, ask for the "dirty" fortune cookies instead of the G-rated ones.

Yelp
I have never walked into a place where the counter cashier/greeter was so rude that I chose to leave. But here we are. The place is busy and loud. There is a barrier at the cashier and I actually attempted to place an order and she said she couldn't hear me. She was sitting on a stool half a mile from the register. I attempted to restate the order and and she actually did it again and twisted her neck to ask what did I expect her to do. This old woman was busy on her phone when I walked up- did I interrupt her Old people meet browsing or something ????? My reply was to exit. I noticed an issue with probably the same person in another review. just ignorance --they need to send her back to whatever crawl space they found her. I would never visit this place again.

Ginny D.

Yelp
Been going since it opened. one of my favorites. Had a long break and returned this week for lunch. The old lunch menu was gone. The food was bland and boring. The wait staff might have been robots. Will not return and will caution others. Ginny D.
google avatar

Lara B.

Yelp
I have been there a few times have always liked the appetizers and General Tso's chicken. Would not recommend the Kung Pao, far too many peanuts and no taste or spice. Service is quick in both take out and in person. Would be back but stick to General Tso's.

Yelp
We haven't been to this place in over 10 years. I don't frequent this area much, so when I drove passed it a Month ago I said, we have to go back there cause we had a great time. Well I didn't have a great time today. We arrive around 1pm, the Hostess was sitting at a high top table by the entrance eating, she got up and said, a table for 2 and walked us to our table, then left. She act like we bothered her cause she was eating her Lunch. I thought that was unprofessional eating right by the Hostess Stand and the Guests can see you. Our Waiter came over after a short while and took our drink orders, he didn't give his name and it wasn't a warm welcome. Maybe cause he was the only Waiter there waiting on 8 tables by himself! So it was a wait for your Food. One couple came in after us and sat a while and left because he took so long. We got several Appetizers. Beef Pot Stickers, Crab Wontons and Tuna Roll. We didn't like the Beef Pot Stickers, they weren't crispy and had some kind of Meatball in it, just looked and tasted different from what I'm used to. We got House Fried Rice, General Tos Chicken and Beef with String Beans. They were ok, not as good as the first time we came here. We had a table next to the Window with a nice view of the Stream. They do need to dust the Windows cause it was Cob Webs in the corners of the Windows. I don't think we will be returning.

Yelp
Siri choose a great little place right in Greenspring Station has windows the overlook a little stream, so it has a nice little view. The Chinese food here is still reasonably priced, but a step above your regular carry out. The peeking duck is my favorite hands down. The lychee martini is great to pair with it.

John C.

Yelp
Great food and service. Wonderful place for takeout orders too as they have a great system they set up during coved so you can drive through and pick up with ease.
google avatar

Jenny A.

Yelp
First - the sushi was really good. Second - the American style chinese (kung pao, general tso's, etc) that we orders (at $19 an entree!!) was not good. The kung pao was nearly flavorless. Not really even looking forward to the leftovers.

Yelp
First time visiting this restaurant and the greeters made sure they greeted us well. My husband brought me here for dinner after work. We were serviced right away with water and fried noodles with 2 different sauces. Our sever barely gave us chance to look over the menu but we were given time to choose once we knew the choices, since they are not printedbin the menu. I order the egg noodles anf mu husband had the special delight. Food came out in no time. Everything was seasoned well and hot. The prices are not bad but a tad higher than your local carryouts. I would come back again. The shrimp was cooked to perfection.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, well staffed, good food, but a little pricey. Expect to pay around $15-20 for an entree that's typically about $10 at a regular Chinese carry out place. Although the food is a little pricey, it was tasty! They start you with a nice bowl of chips and some kind of white horseradish sauce and duck sauce. We ordered the half Peking duck and general tsos chicken. It was way more than enough food for 2 and everything tasted great. I especially loved that the general tsos chicken barely had any breading. It was just good chicken and good sauce! The atmosphere was really nice. The restaurant is pretty inside and well decorated. It was very crowded on a weekday night and it seemed like everyone there was a regular based on their interactions with the staff. There are TV screens playing sports but also the usual modern Chinese restaurant decor. There's lots of seating inside and outside. There were lots of families but also groups of adults dining. The service was very good. Everyone was very friendly and multiple staff members checked up on us frequently. The owner even walked around and said hi to everyone. My water was never empty and old plates were cleared quickly. The staff was very considerate and attentive. Overall, very good experience. If I had more money and lived closer, I'd be a regular here for sure.

Yelp
Only my second time to Joey Chiu's. Not my selection - friends picked it as a place to meet for dinner. The service was adequate. The place was very full on a Monday evening. For 6 people they served one small cup of the "crackers" with the hot mustard an sweet & sour dips. They did not refill it or put 2 out which would have made sense for a table our size. I purposely ordered Hunan Chicken which I frequently get from our local place (Golden House) so I could compare. There was no comparison. The Joey Chiu's version was extremely bland. Lots of sauce but not much flavor. We weren't asked if we wanted dessert or anything else. Actually, the waiter pretty much left us alone, so good thing we did not need anything. The other diners all seemed to be enjoying dinner there. As for me, I do not plan on gong back. I will stick with Golden House.

Joseph C.

Yelp
carry out order that was under the wrong name. Shrimp toast was over cooked , shrimp fried rice had 2 small shrimp and the shrimp and lobster sauce had no flavor at all. When did it become the new normal to have to tip on a carry out order. Been a regular customer for a long time but hesitant about going back. Disappointing

Gordon S.

Yelp
We stopped here after a visit to JH. We always wanted to try and finally we stopped, we were not at all disappointed in our meal and service. Our meal consisted of, chicken corn soup, shrimp fried rice, sashimi, spider roll. All met our expectations of our visit. Finally the service, all were attentive and immediate to order, continued services and were very clean. We also had a very scenic view for lunch, very impressive rooms and bar!

Yelp
Enjoyed our visit here yesterday! It was our first time and we had a great experience. This restaurant has a great location! If you're ever at Greenspring Station and have multiple appointments or need to kill some time, you can visit Joey Chius for a delicious bite! My husband had the chicken wonton soup and general tso shrimp which looked absolutely delicious! They were smothered in sauce which is always a plus. I had the chicken Lo Mein with no onions. My meal was delicious. Portions were huge so there was plenty of my food to bring home and eat later on. The only thing I didn't really care for was that their steamed rice came with onions. I'm a simple sort of girl when it comes to simple things and I don't think steamed rice should automatically include onions! Especially for someone like me who really doesn't like onions at all, but I digress. Our waitress was very sweet and gave us great service. I don't really have any complaints about this establishment. I'm sure we'll be back for a visit in the future.

Yelp
I am in the area where this restaurant is about three times a year, and I almost always make it a point to have lunch there. It definitely qualifies as an upscale Chinese restaurant, but the prices are not unreasonable for the quality items on the large menu. Each table has a bowl of crispy fried noodles and two smaller bowls, one sweet sauce and the other spicy Chinese mustard. I went there two days ago, and this time I ordered hot & sour soup and Kung Pao chicken. I sometimes ask them to substitute tofu for the chicken. Both are equally good, and the portions are massive! Again, the menu is so huge, it can satisfy the taste of any Chinese food aficionado.

Yelp
Visiting my parents for a month we decided to order Chinese food one night. The place we ordered from last minute was minutes from my parents' place and my dad described it as "fine". He was right. Weeks later we wanted to have GOOD Chinese food. So he suggested Joey's. It was better than good. We ordered 12 dishes. Everything was fantastic. If we weren't so hungry and it wasn't so damn good I would have remembered to take photos... But trust me.

Yelp
One star is for ambience. I was hoping the prices would mean that I would get American Chinese food of a higher quality, and I was really looking forward to that, but this was not it. The food I ordered not only tasted nothing like what I have eaten elsewhere, it didn't taste like it's main ingredients, and it didn't even taste good. Just really disappointing. I have my go to American Chinese take out. I'll stick with them.

Yelp
I had a bad experience of my card declining and bad service at the bakery/cafe nearby ( i wasnt greeted and i was rushed) and i was soooo hungry. so i walked to joey chiu's and was welcomed by the cashier and the owner mr . joey chiu himself! i only had $10 cash and there were many options for food under 10( which was great considering the cafe i tried to order a sandwich from costed. near $20... i ordered the chicken wings and it was a great filler. it was hot and fresh and even came with DELICIOUS garlic ranch. yall their restaurant is really nice too and the food came out fast as well. ‼‼ if you broke but want good service and good food this is the place

Yelp
The first time I went to Joey Chiu's I was probably 11. My only memory of that is the people we were dining with and the bridge. As a kid, the bridge over the creek to get into the restaurant is a special kind of ambiance, especially for children. 30 years later I have moved back to the area and have been frequenting Joeys with my parents and children of my own. The food here is of a quality that is head and shoulders above normal Chinese fair. Lunch is super affordable and with generous portions. It is handicap accessible and has nice seating outdoors by the aforementioned creek. And they also allow dogs outside! And the servers will bring them water too. I can't recommend Joey's enough.

Yelp
Food was very delicious- came during a Friday evening and Joey himself helped us upon entry. He was also walking around saying hello to regulars. Food was great portions, got a salmon avacado roll, General Tso, and pork friend rice for 2 and had plenty of leftovers. Food is not as greasy as other places, and priced very well for quality and portion size.

Yelp
We tried Joey Chiu's takeout last night for dinner. This was our first time getting food at this restaurant. My partner had heard that they have the best Chinese food in the area. Well I will make a long story short because they do NOT have the best Chinese food in the area. He got Orange Beef and I got Fried Tofu with Vegetables. He said that his beef tasted like it was cooked with shrimp (Orange Beef should not taste like shrimp). My tofu was the blandest Chinese food that I have ever eaten in my entire life. I literally used every Chinese take out sauce packet that they gave us and them I got more sauce packets from our sauce packet drawer to give it some flavor. The serving sizes were generous. I got three meals out of my Tofu and Vegetables. My partner got two large meals from his Orange Beef. Don't get me wrong we did eat all of the food, it just wasn't that great compared to other local Chinese restaurants. Also the prices were higher than any other Chinese take out place that I have ever been to in the Baltimore area. Entrees that are around $10-12 other places were priced at $15-20 at Joey Chiu's. We got takeout so I can't comment about the restaurant or bathrooms or any of that. They told me 30 minutes and I gave them about 40 minutes and I still had to wait for the food when I got there so give them lots of time to get your food prepared if you decide to go here. There is lots of easy parking available at Green Spring Station. I'm not particularly planning to go back here given that I can pick up really good Chinese takeout food at so many other local places.

Yelp
Customer Beware!!! NOT the same quality restaurant from over a year ago! We stopped by yesterday because we were passing through because this used to be a Fine Dining restaurant. We wondered why it was so empty? We ordered the overpriced general tsos and shrimp fried rice. This was the blandest Chinese food we had ever had the unfortunate experience of eating. $23 for General Tsos and they skimped on the steamed rice by only filling the tiny bowl half way. That half cup of steamed rice must be very expensive.... Then they didn't have the class to even wipe the bottom of the dish so the sauce got all over the sleeve of my dry clean top. I used half the glass of water to clean up the sauce (which was very bland). The waiter never came back to the table so we never got any refills, or another cloth to replace the 1 I had to use to clean up their sloppiness. The crispy noodles were very doughy tasting. The fried rice tasted nothing like the past. the shrimp was OK though. My father asked the manager when he came with the check what had happened with the flavor? We were given low salt soy sauce so he asked him if they have been using salt for anything? He said that they haven't because it is more healthy. So part of the blandness was answered. Then we left very disappointed and the manager ran out to the parking lot and ACCOSTED Us! He DEMANDED we leave a tip for this 'fine' meal and service we were given. When we repeated the disappointment we had told him inside, he started SWEARING at us. He loved using the F.... Word!!! I had never seen such an unstable individual! Then he told us NOT to come back because we hadn't left a tip. I don't know how this restaurant can stay in business? You can be sure we will NEVER be back!

Yelp
Good tasting takeout. Enjoyed the chicken curry and hot and sour soup. It was a little pricey.
