"In Malvern, Joey Chops serves up surf & turf offerings like their sizzling filet mignon topped with a fresh Atlantic lobster tail. The grand restaurant also offers plenty of chicken, seafood, and pasta options (such as their seared tuna steak, salmon wellington, airline chicken milanese, and burrata ravioli) that’s worth coming back for after the steak." - Ernest Owens, Eater Staff

We had an amazing meal from start to finish. I will note that the scallops and shrimp were just off the boat fresh. The steaks were amazing and the sides perfection. Sean was our waiter and he was hands down the best waiter especially in a steak house since Harry’s, Old Homestead and Delmonico’s in NYC. Will definitely be back.

The evening from start to finish was 5 Star treatment! The chef cooked our Starters and Entrees to perfection! Absolutely Delicious! Joey was not only funny but accommodates our large party making us feel welcomed and a receiving personal experience . Our Server Tommy is a True Gem! Absolutely The Best!

Every time we come to here we have an amazing experience. Drew, Gina, and Arden provide the best customer service and their drinks are superb! Steve, the GM, is always welcoming and makes you feel right at home. Their happy hour is amazing with lollipop lamb chops, wagyu sliders, tuna skewers, oysters, and more. Make sure you check out this hidden gem!

We got a recommendation at the Hampton Inn to try out Joey Chops. We had the Burrata Ravoli and it was wonderful. I also included the beet salad with goat cheese and my wife ordered warm shrimp salad. Everything was phenomenally good. I have included the empty dishes as proof!!

Having the rare opportunity to dine alone, I took advantage of it by going to Joey Chops. A redesigned and reimagined spot to enjoy some pricey steaks. After doing what everyone does - reading every review that Joey Chops had (everyone does this right?) I decided to brave the criticism and experience it for myself. Here is what I learned. The good: This place is trying to make a name for themselves on the main line. This leads to an eagerness to please. Tonya the waiter was responsive, smart and attentive. She was curious enough to ask questions to get a feel for what I was looking for, and made great recommendations. The steak was very well presented and appointed with the best pickled onions I have ever had. The ice cream was some of the best I have had in the US. And I go to a many creamery both in here and abroad. This was just fantastic and the salted carmel and vanilla was superb. The scallops were good..... But The mediocre: The steak itself was cooked correctly but did lack some distinctive taste for what I would expect from a dry aged rib eye. It was tender but just not a melt in your mouth experience like I have had in restaurants that spend meticulous attention to where they source their beef. The bad: The scallops and corn although tasty did make me question their choice in corn. The corn was sticky, which you would expect from a yellow corn instead of making it with a sweet or white corn. Additionally their was burnt something on the edge of each of the the plates leading to both a bad smell a off putting taste. Additionally the butter dip they provide with the bread was water and they would be better served with olive oil and herbs. Conclusion: This place is trying really hard but missing the mark with a lack of attention to detail. For the price, and after reading the other reviews people expect more. I am hope they start paying more attention to the details or this will be another flop for the owners.

This was our first time visiting. And I can’t wait to come back. The food was amazing from start to finish. We started with lamb lollipops with soy glaze. The soy glaze Was perfect for the lamb. I got she crab soup. Although slightly salty for my taste it was still amazing!!!!!! The crab tasted fresh!!!! I got the 14 oz strip steak With maitre d’butter. So good. We also Got the westholme Wagyu!!!!!! It comes sliced. I wasn’t sure how i would feel about it already coming sliced but again it was amazing!!!!!! The least favorite dish of the night was the lobster Mac and cheese. It was good but it could use a little more flavor! The crab rice I have no words to describe how amazing that was! They also give you focaccia bread with a tomato oil. Now on to the service!!!! Definitely would give 10/10 if I could. Our waiter Cory was knowledgeable about the food when we asked questions. He was attentive but not pushy and fake. Incredibly nice. Everyone was nice. And attentive!!! I brought my boyfriend there for his birthday. And several people acknowledged that it was his birthday. It’s the little things!!! So many places lack Customer service but not here!!! It’s been along time that we had such an amazing experience from start to finish. Cant wait to come back!!!!

Before my staycation began I decided to checkout Joey Chops Happy Hour (4-6 pm). I’ve heard good things about the food and drinks, so I thought - why not! The sun was shining and a 20-30 minute ride didn’t seem too much to risk. It was worth every minute. With a seat directly in the sun, I was greeted by Tonya, my waitress. I ordered the cucumber breeze (with Hendrick’s), lamb chops, crab deviled eggs, salmon rice crisps, oysters, and steak fries. When Tonya brought over my drink, she shared that Hendrick’s was her favorite Gin, as well as the brand Gun Powder. I’ll have to try it. The food was great! If you want to leave room for more bites, share the steak fries. I had them to myself, and boy was I stuffed. I’ll definitely be back. I hear live music is going to take place on Thursdays. There is nothing like good food, drinks and a good tune.

Went for our 23rd anniversary and had a top notch evening! My friend, Darci, a server had called ahead and shared our celebratory evening (because she wouldn’t be there). From the moment we arrived, it was red carpet treatment. Sean, our server, was delightful! Congratulated us and proceeded to be one of the sweetest, most fun servers ever. We knew we wanted the Tomahawk 44 ounce special. Since it takes a while to cook, we started with the Burrata appetizer and a wedge. The Burrata was to die for. The crostini melts in your mouth! Our wedge was split for us to share and the bacon on it is incredible. Hubby drank old Fashioned’s and I opted for the watermelon margaritas! Both very good!!! We ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and onion rings with the main course. Our steak was prepared beautifully. Medium rare and seasoned nicely. They had sliced it off the bone for us and it was presented beautifully. At the end, we were comped a glass of champagne and cheesecake to go!! They did a phenomenal job making our night one to remember!! All of the staff was polite and friendly. Highly recommend !!! I’ll be back soon!!! Thanks, Joey Chop’s!!!!

Yelp
Since my first post Joey Chops reached out and apologized for the air conditioning and I may have misunderstood initially. I'm so happy they are working on solving the issue as soon as possible! We will definitely be back! There is nothing better than a restaurant with amazing food and staff where the owners take accountability and apologize! Thank you Joey Chops for explaining! Now you are my new favorite restaurant and get a 100 out of 10 from me!

Yelp
Loved this restaurant! It felt like going to an upscale Center City restaurant without the hassle of driving 45 minutes. Our waiter was very professional. He was attentive and knowledgeable, and the food was wonderful. We had delicious lamb chops appetizers and salmon wellington. Both were perfect. For dessert we had the cheesecake with toppings. It was a great way to top off an awesome meal. I also enjoyed a strawberry lemon drop martini. They might be a little on the pricey side, but definitely worth it. We had a delicious and relaxing meal. I'll be going back!

Sydney B.

Yelp
Drew and Arden were amazing! The service was so great and the ambiance of the restaurant was amazing. Every drink I had was on spot. Come during happy hour:)

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Took a trip to try Joey Chops tonight. I enjoyed it. I thought my steak had good flavor, the sides were really good. Espresso martini was the best! Not overly crowded but overall a nice evening. They had a nice amount of steak choices to fit the steak enthusiast. Definitely check it out

Jenna M.

Yelp
Probably the best steak I've ever had. Staff was excellent and welcoming, great wine selection, the NY strip was incredible. Their desserts are also amazing. Great mood lighting and atmosphere. A bit pricey because of the high quality selection. A great spot for a special night out!

Jim H.

Yelp
Probably the best escort i have ever had!! We really enjoy this place. We've been here several times and it is always a great experience we will be back

Zoe H.

Yelp
I have visited Joey Chops with my family several times before and have always had a great experience. Tonight was no exception. Bret was an awesome server and I had a fantabulous tuna steak meal. Previously the manager Steve has personally said hello to my table to ensure we were having a great time and unfortunately he was not there when we asked to say hello tonight.

Eric B.

Yelp
Having chosen to try this place out instead of othe steak houses that are closer to my house in top, I was extremely underwhelmed with the quality, quantity and service. The place charges $26 for 3 small lamb chops. Everything was overpriced. I choose capital grill, Sullivan's, Ruth Chris's and even Redstone over this overpriced place

Yvette J.

Yelp
Visited Joeys this past weekend. Love the indoor outdoor vibe. Light and airy with a chic aesthetic. The bartender was very super friendly knowledgeable and crafted and excellent spicy margarita. It was Happy Hour (which you don't find too many places with a Saturday HH so bonus points) but we dined off the regular dinner menu as well. Standout for me was the Warm Shrimp Salad and Lobster Dumplings. The Lamb was a tad over cooked but the delicious sauce it came up with made up for that. There's so much more we wanted to try so we will definitely be back soon!

Clarissa V.

Yelp
This was a pretty epic dinner date. Started off with a Smokey manhattan. Love the presentation of that! And a passion fruit martini for me. 2 dozen oysters in and we started getting hungrier for the meats and sides! Kids ordered the wagyu sliders which of course I had to sample. Snow crab legs were perfect for the kids who love that too. Fresh baked focaccia with a fresh roasted tomato dip In. Escargot came next and that green buttery garlic goodness was sopped up with all the toasties available. Next came a tuna steak cooked to perfection as well as the med. rare steaks. We got a couple of cuts of steak which I forget what we ordered but one was a tender wagyu that cut like butter. lobster ravioli, crab fried rice, mashed potatoes better than your moms and perfect not to crisp and not too soft asparagus. EVERYTHING was spot on. Dude came to check in regularly and didn't mind packing up the leftovers even if it was like a ravioli here a salad bite there, a steak bite a bone to gnaw on for the dogs. It was good times. And the best was the cheesecake cart to select out all the toppings and sides to swizzle around in the giant New York style fluffy cheesecake. Love love love Can't wait to return again!

Yelp
Joey Chops has come a long way since opening. They still have some work to do in order to compete with popular steakhouses but it saves you a ride into the city. The restaurant is located in close proximity to a strip mall (restaurants, bars, shops), plenty of parking. The dining room/bar area is comfortable/relaxing. Staff goes out of their way to cater towards guests. Plenty of drink/food options. The bread didn't do much for me. Appetizers were okay. Steak was slightly overcooked but not worth sending back (good flavor). Sides were good and large enough to share. It's a nice restaurant for the area but still slightly lacking the wow factor that you'd expect from a steakhouse. Worth stopping by for a meal!

Britt J.

Yelp
Our visit to Joey Chops was amazing. We started with oyster Rockefeller. For our entrees I chose the 8 oz filet mignon accompanied by crab & my husband had the tuna steak both were delicious. For sides we had the crab fried rice, lobster Mac & cheese as well as broccolini. The ambiance of the dining room was good & also had romantic lighting. Our server was very attentive. I also had the seasonal margarita which was also delicious.

Mike A.

Yelp
Delicious food. Great make bartender/manager. Everything was awesome!!! With meats and seafood, you cannot go wrong!

Joseph D.

Yelp
Service could learn some dining etiquette. Also, being surrounded by flies and paying $70 for an undercooked steak put a damper on the entire meal. Unimpressed and probably will not be back.

Dale N.

Yelp
The worst meal I have had all year, along with all three others that I was with. The swordfish that I had should be called a tomato salad as the two very small pieces of fish that were only maybe a 1/4" thick and over cooked you could not even see as it was covered with a half dozen slices of tomato that was way over seasoned, It took me a minute to even find the fish! the caesar salad was another mess of mixed greens with two dozen hard as a rock croutons and not anchovies! ugh, I could go on an on about the other dishes my friends had. We left knowing that not only would we never return we would never let our friends go here

Sultan E.

Yelp
His was a great family party here. Had the opportunity to try a bunch of things including raw oysters, lobster ravioli, lamb lollipop chops, and several selections of steak. Each one as delicious as the next dish Loved the cheesecake trolly and all the selections for toppings. that was some delicious cheese cake too!!

dirk d.

Yelp
Good quality steak , bartender Brett strongly suggested a filet special that was a great call. Steak came out....not hot, barely warm he gladly handled situation properly and got it rewarded quickly with no damage to requested temp. Great service by Brett all around.

Bill D.

Yelp
Appetizers and sides were outstanding but the sign of a good steakhouse are, well, the steaks. This is where Joey chops fell down. They couldn't do Pittsburgh rare to save their lives. I ordered the bone-in-ribeye. It was supposed to be a 22oz steak but it was so thin that Pittsburgh rare was an impossibility. My wife ordered the large filet also Pittsburgh rare. They both came out medium rare. Also, the chef there must have loved Peter Lugers cause all steaks (except the fillet) came out pre-sliced. If I had known in advance I would have asked cthem not to cut mine. All in all if you want great bar food and a drink this idnt a bad placecto stop. If you want great steaks go to Flemings.

Linda B.

Yelp
Always the right place to stop! Their sliders are awesome! Bartenders are on point as well.

Tommy W.

Yelp
Went for my wife's birthday. Gotta tell you, wasn't impressed. The food was good however, they serve small portions. My wife ordered the filet mignon and it was about a 3 or 4 oz. Steak. The service was ok, nothing remarkable but I must say that they are overpriced for what you get. Most likely, I won't be back.

Kevin L.

Yelp
Joey Chops was classy and everything was served to perfection! 3 different cuts ordered three different temperatures and they were spot on! Sides were delicious and the atmosphere to suit any occasion. I highly recommend Joey Chops!

Tim T.

Yelp
Started with cocktails - service was friendly and drinks were good. Shrimp cocktail was great- large and fresh. Cocktail sauce wasn't great. Prefer traditional sauce rather than an Asian flair, but to each their own. Steaks were cooked as ordered, but they slice it. WTF? $100 for a steak and they slice it? Waitress should have said something. The cheesecake- the best ever I have had the good fortune to taste. When dining here, do yourself a favor and save room for it. Was the very best part of the meal. After dinner coffee drinks were hot and good.

Johny G.

Yelp
Superb. Three of us went as first-timers and shared. Everything was tremendous. Every appetizer. Every entree. My "Scottish Salmon Wellington" was superb. And our server Jack was great! All-around, a new favorite place. Relatively new. Outstanding food, service & ambiance.

Punkinn H.

Yelp
Business dinner for 8: Impressed with entrees and side dishes. Totally enjoyed my filet mignon with the blue cheese crust and the Irish Coffee for dessert. Great that there's a place like this in Malvern!

Melina R.

Yelp
The food here is phenomenal, our server Arden was attentive and went the extra mile making wonderful recommendations. Everything we tried was delicious. I definitely recommend the Wagu Sliders, Porcini scallops, and NY cheese cake. I tried a bit of my husbands filet and it was cooked to perfection. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. I also tried the espresso Martini and would recommend. The atmosphere is great for a nice celebration or date night.

Madeline J.

Yelp
My fiancé and I were celebrating a special occasion and needed somewhere nice to go for dinner. We had been thinking about trying Joey Chops for a while and thankfully took the plunge. The Maitre 'D personally greeted us at the table and shared his congratulations. Our waiter Joe was helpful with our questions and gave great recommendations. The food was out of this world. Steaks were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The bleu cheese crust and herbed butter was the perfect addition. We ordered 3 sides to share, whipped potatoes, asparagus, and lobster Mac and cheese. Everything came out piping hot. We truly couldn't have asked for a better evening. Even in a bigger restaurant, it feels intimate in the seats. We can't wait to come back for our next night out!

Tameka B.

Yelp
Hidden gem that elevates dining options for the Malvern area. Excellent service from the minute you enter the restaurant. Great bar service and well prepared cocktails. Appetizers were surprisingly delicious- my favs were crab bites and the tomato focaccia bread was amazing. The ambience is sophisticated but not in a stuffy way. The food was well seasoned and favors were balanced. Only downside I saw was that menu is limited however I can tell that chef and owner are intentional and want to focus on providing high quality dishes and customer dining. I highly recommend trying this restaurant.

Patrice B.

Yelp
What an amazing dinner we had this evening. Food was amazing and the service was impeccable. Our server was Darby. love that name. She was very attentive and always there when we needed her. We will definitely come back for some more amazing service and food.

Gary K.

Yelp
My wife and I tried Joey chops for the first time during happy hour. We tried about six appetizers and we're pleased with every one. The beers were nice and cold. The selection was good the cocktail was good. The bartender was excellent and the best surprise to us was seeing a familiar face at Joey chops. Steve George, the manager formerly of Brick & Brew made us feel right at home like he always did in Malvern. We plan to make Joey chops a weekly stop and suggest you do the same!

Sharon P.

Yelp
This is our 2nd time at Joey Chops and we really enjoyed our cocktails and dinner. Gina, our bartender & server, (we sat in the bar area) was friendly & welcoming. Also, made a delicious martini. My husband had the hangar steak with crab, both cooked to perfection. We had a side of mushrooms & charred broccolini (very good) & I had the ravioli with a lovely tomato sauce. The staff is what makes this place stand out. Thanks Sean & Gina for your warm welcome.

John T.

Yelp
We were very pleased with all aspects of our casual dinner. Michael the host was quick with menu recommendations and extremely knowledgeable of the menu and the specialties. Cocktails were well made, and all courses of the food were flavorful and well prepared. We will definitely go again!!

Georges S.

Yelp
This is the place to be. The food is fantastic. The selection is just right, the presentation is amazing, the taste is fabulous. I will recommend for a date night or any occasion. Our service was top notch without being too much or overwhelming. I will be back again to Joey Chops!

Linda B.

Yelp
I am so glad that this restaurant opened in the western Mainline area. I went there pre birthday and it was excellent. I knew it had just opened so knew there could be kinks. However, everyone was so nice and courteous. The food was very good- my daughter loved the duck. I had an issue with the steak but it was remade and was fine. Drinks were great. The wine list is exceptional. This is a wonderful addition to the area, and really the best high end steak house on the Mainline.

Franklin M.

Yelp
It was our first time coming to this restaurant for a date night experience. The food was good. The atmosphere was good as well. We will return

Celia J.

Yelp
Ok visit to the bar only. Really expensive, The bread was good, drinks so so, service ok. We will not be back.

Dennis S.

Yelp
My wife and I ate here tonight and had a great experience. The decor is beautiful, the food was terrific and the service was outstanding. We were warmly greeted by the hostess upon arrival and were seated right away. Our server, Isabella, was incredible and did an excellent job and the manager was also very attentive. We can hardly wait to return to enjoy another great meal.

John D.

Yelp
I've driven past this place dozens of times and wrote it off as it sits in a dismal shopping center surrounded by strip malls. But this place is an upscale gem. I went there for Thanksgiving at the last minute not expecting much, but once inside the door it's evident this is a stylish restaurant with food to match. we ordered steaks and the Thanksgiving meal and everything was cooked perfectly. In addition, this may be the best Caesar salad in the entire region. Their French Onion soup is at the top of the pack with lots of the right cheeses and a delicious soup and their Wagyu sliders are ridiculously good and addictive. We didn't do desert but was certainly tempted by the chocolate cake tower that went by to another table.

Jeff J.

Yelp
First time we were here. Great atmosphere, the food was really good. The plates and bowls were nice and big, ur food isn't crowded or falling off the plate. Service was excellent, not only our waiter, Jason S, who was great, but they have a great team effort, multiple people clearing dishes and checking on us. Definitely Recommend this place.

Carol S.

Yelp
Just ok. Very pricey. Food was not cooked appropriately and needed to send back. The finished product was like leather. Disappointed.

Debra P.

Yelp
service was great. food was good except for some items were way too salty including themushroom appetiser and the pasta

Jim B.

Yelp
Food under cooked and took an hour and 20 minutes to come out, service was good overall and the place is ok but ambiance doesn't exactly meet expectations nor does it match menu or menu prices. A notch or two below other steakhouses with same menu choices and price points. They just opened up 2 weeks ago and it's clear they have not worked out kinks. I will say the waygu sliders were excellent when they finally came. Our meal was comped because of the mishaps. The cheesecake cart was the highlight of our date night as we watched it fly around the restaurant all night!lol

Thomas D.

Yelp
The steaks are delicious and cooked correctly. The servers are friendly. The Happy Hour food and drinks are the best!

Steven E.

Yelp
My wife had the scallops. She enjoyed them. I had the NY strip steak. Flavorful and cooked properly. Caesar salad was disappointing. Had what tasted like kimchi mixed in. Gloppy dressing. Atmosphere is strange. Felt like an old jersey shore steakhouse (Zaberers). Service was good. Not many people in the place for a Fri night. Likely due to the prices. Good (not great) food at those prices will be a deterrent for many. 2beers, 2 entrees a salad and a side for $160 with a 18% tip is expensive given the available alternative choices. I worry for this restaurant's future.

Chantal G.

Yelp
Had a decent meal. One steak was pretty undercooked. The wagyu sliders were very over cooked and slightly gamey. Cocktails were not good, and the pineapple martini was so weak we all tasted it and thought it was a virgin drink. Mojito was terrible, and tasted like they forgot the syrup. Also the place is very very dark inside. Service was pretty good though. Lastly, very overpriced...two entrees, three sides, one appetizer and two cocktails was over $200 with tip. No need to return.

Erica M.

Yelp
Great dining experience. The host was upbeat and kept us entertained as we were seated. Our waiter was pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive throughout the meal. The food was amazing. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides (Brussels, mushrooms and whipped potatoes) and the dessert (cheesecake) were delicious. We will definitely be going back again!

June S.

Yelp
Food was delicious, queens cut filet was done perfect and delicious. All sides cooked perfect and delicious. Crispy Brussels we're so tasty! She crab soup was hot and delicious! Service great! Restaurant decor industrial bit cozy. Several different set up for eating. Nice big bar with High top tables and a nice outside area for dining also. Drinks were also fairly priced and tasty! Pineapple martini was great!

Kevin B.

Yelp
Our server Tom made this a very enjoyable meal for my wife and I. He was knowledgeable and attentive without being over bearing. The staff across the board was fantastic!!! Management went above and beyond when it came to making our evening a success. The food was well presented and prepared perfectly. I have dined in steakhouses in NYC, AC, and KofP over the past 3 weeks and Joey's can hold its own against any and all competitors. I would recommend the smokey Old Fashioned for a pre-dinner cocktail or the pineapple martini.

Matthew H.

Yelp
Warm and inviting steak house with a touch of rustic alpine theme. Escargot appetizer was cooked to perfection The bone in ribeye was by far the best I have had in the area and challenges those high end NYC steakhouses.

Angela G.

Yelp
I'm newer to the area (moved in '19 with my hubby and fur babies!) and Stove and Tap was my go-to restaurant. When I heard that they were re-branding, I waited patiently and anticipated something great. I came in ecstatic and left devastated. First in foremost, the restaurant smelled. The smell was not the delicious smoked duck that I was anticipating ordering, it STUNK like dirty mop water. Cautiously, my husband and I sat down. I asked for a merlot and a water neither of which arrived until my husband and I were half way through our appetizer, lobster ravioli which is comparable to Friskies cat food mixed with chef Boyardee. My husband ordered the salmon dish and asked for it to be cooked through and the waitress looked at him like he had an extra eyeball. I ordered the smoked duck, holding out hope that it would be good. The food arrived and while we tried to make the best of it, truly, it looked and tasted like something you could get at Ruby Tuesdays (CHEAP!). There was not one familiar staff member, which was so disappointing. The same staff that welcomed us to Malvern has been replaced with snobbish, inexperienced waitstaff. I'm not sure who's idea it was to welcome "Joey's Chop" to Malvern, but it was certainly a miSTEAK.
