Big Restaurant Chain Joey Is Latest to Jump From LA to Orange County | Eater LA

"I note Joey is set to debut at Newport Beach’s Fashion Island on January 19. The quickly-growing Canadian chain first came to prominence in Woodland Hills and Downtown Los Angeles in the summer of 2019, almost immediately becoming a millions-a-year staple for the Financial District set and tourists; after a Manhattan Beach location opened in 2021, the group is now bringing its sushi, pasta, burgers, salads, and more to coastal Orange County." - Farley Elliott

Genuinely excellent. Some of the best food we’ve ever had. The Sushi Cone and the Truffle Udon Carbonara with Katsu Chicken were the highlights. Fantastic food, and great service from our server Jesse. Presentation and atmosphere were both great. Complementary single slice of Crème Brûlée Cheesecake for our anniversary was a fun inclusion. Thank you Jesse for such a good time!

Google
Amazing experience! We were welcome by a warm staff, offered complimentary champagne while we waited for our table and got to enjoy the lovely fire-pit area. Loved sitting on the patio. We enjoyed the beautifully designed atmosphere. The food was incredible! Definitely our favorite meal while visiting Newport.

Took my husband to Joey for a mid day happy hour on his birthday. We were offered a glass of champagne when we walked in. Seated in the outside covered patio. We loved our server Tiffany, she was very engaging and attentive. Brought my husband a birthday card which was a sweet gesture. Food and drinks were good. We will definitely be back!

We recently had a fantastic experience at Joey Shipyards in North Vancouver. While we were there, we discovered that Joey has a great presence in the USA - New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Newport Beach and Santa Clara etc. Eager to try a new location, we visited the Newport Beach spot during happy hour. We ordered a variety of dishes, including a refreshing strawberry drink, the Sichuan chicken wrap, a sesame tempura rice handroll, and the beef carpaccio. Every dish was outstanding, but the beef carpaccio was truly exceptional—it was so fresh and tender that it could easily be a world-class dish. It's clear that this restaurant chain offers consistent, high-quality food. It's definitely worth a visit!

Found this place during work travels and I'm so glad I did! What a fabulous vibe; hopping on a Tuesday night! Service was excellent at the bar. The wait staff had great suggestions and I ended up ordering the "steak and sushi" with a side salad. Holy cow! Food, service, and atmosphere are all amazing. I'll be back! I can tell this is gonna be one of my regular stops when I'm in Orange County for work!!

We had the best experience at Joey’s thanks to our incredible waiter, Marshall! From the moment we sat down, he was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. He gave amazing recommendations, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. His timing, energy, and professionalism truly elevated the entire dining experience.

We celebrated our daughter in law birthday. I have eaten at other Joey restaurants, but not this particular one. We made reservations and had a short wait. We were offered champagne, as all guests are, but declined. Our server, Olivia was attentive enough, busy Sunday though. I had the Mediterranean bowl, which is my "go to" very tasty. My husband had the poke bowl, not enough poke. We also ordered mini steak sliders with fries. If you have a group, each order just has 2 sliders. The butter cake was better than the pumpkin cheesecake brunette for dessert. There's valet parking if wanted, we did self park.

Google
Came with my friend after working as we do on Sunday nights, we had the lovely YUN serve us at a high top. We had no idea it was happy hour and we have came before. She made our night one of the best in a long time. Can’t wait to see her again and be back soon!!!!

Yelp
Had a great time at Joey. Very cool vibe. I ordered the steak frites and the filet was perfect. However, what stood out the most was the service from our waitress, Elise. She was attentive and hospitable. The whole time I was thinking, "Wow, she deserves a free dinner for this incredible experience." Highly recommend.

Yelp
10/10 We had the cauliflower, spicy tuna roll, steak, Mediterranean bowl and of course the butter cake. Food was A+. Service was amazing! Every one was friendly. Lizzie, our waitress, was particularly welcoming, attentive, without being disruptive. Thank you for a wonderful night!!!!!

Yelp
The food and the place was awesome! I appreciate Nicole our server, who has been so helpful. The food that she suggested was so goood! I enjoyed our time here. Thank you to the manager, Hannah for accommodating our group. :)

Yelp
I have already done another review for this place but this time I got to say we tried different items and their hummus, ceviche, and chicken masala did not disappoint. They do not have consistent service and sometimes it takes them way to long to bring your food, especially during busy hours.

Yelp
Food was amazing, the gyoza there is my favorite dish. My steak did come out cold so I had to send it back. Service was satisfactory. We had the luck of getting two sweet servers. Both servers were kind, but wished they would've been a little more attentive. As a server myself I make sure to always remember any type of celebration. When I had made the reservation I put down I was there for a celebration, unfortunately they completely ignored it and just handed me the bill with no awareness of the celebration cake I had hoped for, took a small moment away from our dinner.

Yelp
Joey Newport Beach exceeded our expectations! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and well taken care of. The service was outstanding, and the food was impressive. 1. The waiting experience was surprisingly pleasant--comfortable seating around a fire pit and complimentary sparkling wine made the time pass effortlessly. A thoughtful touch that kept the experience enjoyable from start to finish. 2. The food was delicious! The beef carpaccio was a standout--perfectly fresh with an incredible truffle flavor. The hummus was tasty, and while the shrimp ravioli was decent, the shrimp itself could be a bit larger. The only dish that didn't quite hit the mark was the butter chicken, as it was sweeter than expected compared to traditional Indian flavors. However, the butter cake was a fantastic way to end the meal! Overall, we loved the cozy ambiance, exceptional service, and great food. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
My parents chose to dine at Joey after hearing great things about the place, and it certainly lived up to the hype. From the moment we arrived, we were treated exceptionally well--greeted with champagne and escorted to our table. Our servers, Jesse and Christine, were a fantastic team, offering insightful recommendations and making us feel truly welcome. Since it was our first time at Joey and we weren't sure what to order, we trusted Christine's recommendations--and she did not disappoint. Every dish we tried was outstanding. For starters, we sampled a few dishes, and here's how I'd rank them: Seared Salmon Sushi - A perfect balance of flavors and textures. Szechuan Chicken Lettuce Wraps - Fresh, flavorful, and a fun way to start the meal. Wagyu Beef Carpaccio - Still delicious but my least favorite of the three. For our entrées, we had the Yellowfin Tuna Salad and the Tuna Poke Bowl. My dad absolutely loved his poke bowl, while my tuna salad was exceptional--the cilantro ginger dressing combined with crispy gyoza strips elevated the dish beautifully. Christine insisted we try the Individually Baked Apple Pie, claiming it was "to die for." I couldn't say no--and I'm so glad I didn't! The crust, more of a delicate pastry than a traditional pie crust, made it one of the best apple pies I've ever had. Overall, Joey exceeded expectations in both food and service. Christine ensured we were well taken care of throughout the entire meal, making the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend, and I can't wait to return!

Yelp
I had my husband pick a restaurant to surprise me for our anniversary. He picked JOEY. He made an amazing choice! When we arrived we were greeted and offered champagne. It made me feel pretty fancy. We were seated at a nice table for two. Our waitress was really nice and took our order quickly. We got the ceviche and sushi cone appetizer and the ravioli and buttered chicken entrees. Everything came out fast and was exceptional! Every ingredient is well thought out. Kudos to the chef. I'd ordered everything again except now I want to try more things! They surprised us with an anniversary dessert as well. Very sweet of them :) Thank you for a lovely night. Tip: make a reservation and leave time for parking (if you don't want to valet)

Yelp
Dining here was like a rollercoaster ride, so many ups and downs. I really couldn't decide on stars - there were moments of 5 and moments of 0, so let me explain. Upon arrival the host was super friendly as my friend was running 10 mins late and she said it wouldn't be a problem. When she arrived we were led to our table... to our disappointed it was a high top outdoor right next to the bar. The bar was so crowded, people kept bumping into me and we were literally surrounded by people standing up and elbows swinging into my back. I never ask to move tables but it was so uncomfortable. She said if we wanted to move it'd be 20-30 mins- I didn't have the time to wait... we decided to suffer through it and was disappointed with the reservation process. 5 minutes later she came back and said she had a table for us inside - a booth. I was then so happy! We went inside and yes indeed it was a lovely table. That was the first part of the roller coaster. Server came and we ordered- espresso martinis for 3 of us, caviar, shrimp and scallop ceviche, a 5oz steak and fries, and chicken katsu salad. Our server garret was so friendly and he honestly was a highlight of the experience. He came back to deliver bad news- NO espresso martinis available. The ride continues. It's Friday night and they're out of one of the most popular drinks. We all pick a different drink. The food takes a long time to come, even the caviar which really doesn't need preparation maybe just the chips. It arrives and there are NO caviar spoons. I love caviar but my friends have never tried it, I explain we cannot use a metal spoon. I grab Garret he tried to find a spoon- he comes back first with a smaller metal one- realizes his mistake, comes back with two plastic spoons. Apologizes profusely for the situation. I laugh it off- at least we won't taint our caviar. Each potato chip was perfect and the caviar divine. Ceviche was amazing!! The scallops sweet and the sauce with the shrimp was perfection. We finish both of these and wait another while for the food to come out... we're in a hurry at this point and texting our next event that we're running late. Finally more than 20 mins later the food comes. Katsu chicken salad so delicious- crispy citrusy and crunchy in every bite. Steak and fries- steak for 5oz is tiny tiny luckily we're small girls and are pretty full- but if you order this upgrade to the 7oz for $7 more or you'll leave hungry. It we cooked perfectly along with the fries. I ask for the check and Garrett said he has a surprise for my friends bday. So sweet. He comes with the surprise birthday cake but says sorry we're out of candles- small little dip in the roller coaster but it's complimentary so can't complain. He wrote her name on it! The crème Bruce cheese cake amazing as well! He forgets the check but honestly he's so sweet so I don't mind, I flag him down and we go rushing out of there. The food is amazing, the operations need help, the service was good (but overall short staffed). I wish I could've given 5 stars but I almost gave 0 at some points.

Yelp
My friend and I had the most wonderful dining experience here! Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the hostess with a bright smile and a glass of complimentary champagne while we waited for our table. The restaurant was beautifully adorned with bouquets of fresh flowers, really elegant! We ordered the following to share: sake glazed fish, sushi taco, and chicken lettuce wraps. The food presentation, quality, and taste were superb. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
This place was probably one of the nicest places I've been to as they immediately greeted us and offered complimentary champagne ! Interior was modern and everyone was so lively. We went straight for the entrees and ordered the seared salmon sushi, chicken parmesan, and steak and ravioli bianco. I LOVED the seared salmon sushi as it had a great balance of spice, flavor, and texture. The other dishes were really good but the sushi definitely took me by surprise. Our hostess was really kind and had the creme brûlée cheesecake provided for the birthday celebration and we ordered the molten lava cake (I WAS OBSESSED). The molten lava cake also had a really nice balance from the raspberry tartness. Overall a great experience!

Yelp
The Lettuce wraps with chicken was amazing. The chicken mixture was prepared similar to General Tso style. The Wagyu Beef Carpaccio was great and came with a bunch of freshly toasted bread. As usual we got the excellent Seared Salmon Sushi on pressed blocks of rice and the Sushi Cone. Later I got a mug of their nice bold coffee that they were able to brew pretty quickly. The Butter Cake was average. I hear the Apple Pie is their best dessert. Corkage fee was $30 if you bring your own bottle of wine. But that's still a good deal compared to their other bottles. Happy Hour goes until 5pm every day with for and drink specials, including an exclusive Guacamole.

Yelp
Ambience was amazing, decent crowd, lovely decor, open kitchen with more than 20 employees cooking in front of you, service was outstanding, our friendly server took very good care of, drinks were generous and filled with flavors. Food was really good as well. Definitely will be returning.

Yelp
This place never fails me! Greeted by a lovely hostess offering a complimentary glass of bubbly while our table was prepared. The guide took us to our table and was so engaging and welcoming. Our entrees were all delicious. We all enjoyed every bite! This place is always hopping even during the week. It's such a beautiful setting on the patio. Always feel welcomed here!

Yelp
Had the best dinner at JOEY Newport Beach! The vibe was super nice- they give you champagne while you wait, and there's this really pretty fire pit outside to keep you warm. Our waitress, Amy, was an actual angel.. so sweet and thoughtful, she made us feel so taken care of. The food was unreal. I had the sake-glazed sea bass, filet mignon, sushi cones, and hibachi wings (honestly obsessed with the wings). Everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Definitely coming back

Yelp
Huge fan of Joey. Stopped by here for lunch and had the Cajun Blackened Chicken. The chicken Is great, but that warm potato & bacon salad is to die for. Love how the potatoes are crispy too. Great dish overall. I had a bite of my friends Bollywood Butter Chicken and loved it too. I'm going to guess that you can't go wrong ordering anything from here. Quality food in a great location. Love the overall vibe of the restaurant. I had a reservation and was seated within a few minutes. They did ask if I wanted some champagne while I wait. Fast and friendly service. Has an upscale vibe somewhere you go to be "seen", but I'm all for it.

Yelp
A must try if you love great food and dont mind paying a little more for perfect portions and a perfect taste. We came here for our first time for our 21st wedding anniversary and we had the best time. We sat outside and got the greatest and friendliest service from Gisela who secretly bought us a anniversary treat that was delicious. I had the sushi rolls and a salad and the wife had the Cajun Blackened Chicken and everything was awesome. Its not to loud and its a very happy place to hang out.

Yelp
JOEY Newport Beach delivers an outstanding dining experience with impeccable service and expertly crafted cuisine and cocktails. Our server, Lindsey, was exceptional, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable meal. I am *very sure* that you'll enjoy JOEY! The restaurant's unique approach, training every chef on every menu item, is reflected in the consistency and quality of each dish. Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. With a modern yet inviting atmosphere, JOEY is ideal for both casual outings and special occasions. A truly polished, high-quality dining experience! It's a Green Light from me! MLA

Yelp
We came here for a birthday dinner, but unfortunately, the service was disappointing. Whether it was due to the holiday rush or something else, it took over 20 minutes to get our drinks, and the waitress was nowhere to be found most of the time. We had to ask multiple times just to get ice. The interior is cute, and the food was okay, but nothing exceptional for the price. Overall, the experience could have been much better if the service had been more attentive.
google avatar

Kelsey R.

Yelp
Came here for a work holiday party last night and actually arrived about 30 minutes early, but they sat us almost immediately. Unfortunately didn't get a champagne welcome which I was a little disappointed about, but oh well! Our server was JP and he was so attentive, kind, and made sure everyone in our party of 11 was taken care of. I am really impressed with the level of customer service we received. He made the experience from good to excellent. We were seated outside and the vibe is like upscale/modern, but laid back. It was very cozy and warm for being "outdoors". For apps we ordered the Parmesan Truffle fries and while they were pretty good, probably not worth the price of them. The table also ordered some apps I didn't get to try, but the others said they were delicious. I ordered the steak and ravioli and wow! It was sooo good and that sauce was to die for! The steak was just the basic cut and it was so tender and cooked to perfection. I also tried their espresso martini and that was delicious as well! Safe to say we all enjoyed our visit and meals and would be happy to come back!

Yelp
I needed to meet a friend who lives in Huntington Beach, and she requested I select a restaurant in the Newport Center, as it was convenient for her to drive to the center from her home in Huntington Beach. She did not want to take any freeways to reach the restaurant. Accordingly, for our Saturday luncheon, I selected Joey's, which is located in a free-standing building on the road that rings the Newport Center. We in this matter right when they opened, which is at 11:00 a.m. The hostess Amanda was pleasant. Our server, Brittany from Big Bear, was kind and very efficient. Her professional manner added to our experience at Joey's. As to our meal, we shared a number of appetizers, including Carpaccio, French Fries and Gyoza dumplings stuffed with ground pork. The reason for the four stars instead of five was for the tiny paper napkins which do not comport with the atmosphere of the restaurant; the plastic wine glasses that fail to "clink" when toasting and are just downright tacky, and the fact that the food runners have no idea who gets what dish when they approach the table. They "auction off" the dishes---"Who gets the seabass?", they call out, and we are supposed to raise our hands. That is a management issue---Management should institute a policy where the waiters number each order 1,2,3,4,etc., and the dish that goes with that number. Then the runners will know to whom at the table to deliver the food without the "auctioning" of the dishes while they beckon them in the air.

Yelp
I was excited to have a Joey near me after moving to Irvine, but I've been a little disappointed with the service compared to my experiences at the DTLA location. Service (2/5): This is where Joey Newport falls short. 3 visits in, and I always seem forgotten. Example, all 3x i've been there I noticed champagne being offered to certain guests, but not to me... maybe a coincidence, but it left a weird impression. Also every time I go there and ask for something, whether it's extra sauce or plate, they take forever and i'll have to hunt down another server or 2. They're busy, but consistency in service matters. Ambiance (3/5): The outdoor seating is cozy and nice, but the entry area is a mess. Everyone hovers and blocks the door while waiting for their table. They need a better system to organize the crowd. Food (4/5): Food is solid for the price! Good quality and diverse. My go-to orders: Sushi - Always good, nothing over the top. They should get real wasabi, that would elevate things. House Salad - Love the beets, but they go overboard with the dressing sometimes. Hibachi Wings - My favorite! They taste like mini rotisserie chickens. Truffle Fries & Burgers - Always solid. Lettuce Wrap - Super delicious. Ravioli - Also good! Overall: Great food options at reasonable prices, but the service and crowd management need improvement. I'll probably still come back for the food, but I hope the service gets better.

Yelp
It was my first time at Joey and I have to say, the ambiance and the service was excellent. I came with a party and the servers were always around to assist with our needs and was quick to notice if we needed more drinks or had to take plates off the tables. I love Chilean seabass, so naturally, I ordered the Sake Glazed Chilean Seabass on the menu. I think the glaze and the vegetables were good but the texture of the seabass was not to my liking. I usually like mine to melt in the mouth and is flaky, but the one at Joey's was not like that at all. Maybe slightly undercooked? I'm not sure. The matcha mojito that I ordered was also really sweet..I think it had a bit too much of the cane syrup. I did try my friend's Bollywood Butter Chicken and the Cajun Blackened Chicken, that I thought was really good (I wish I ordered that instead).

Yelp
ELIJAH the literal best waiter I've ever had. I've been to the other locations but this is the best experience at a Joeys I ever had. He took care of my severe anaphylactic allergies. He was so attentive so fun to talk to and such a sweetheart. Joeys is lucky to have him.

Yelp
Once again, Joey's is and will always be the best restaurant in Newport Beach. Nothing compares to it. Every time I go, I'm reminded of just how good it is. I always get the chicken lettuce wraps, and they never disappoint. They're so flavorful, crunchy, and perfectly balanced. Truly a go-to order every single time. This visit, we decided to try something new and ordered the little French dips -- and wow. They were absolutely insane. Honestly, one of the best appetizers I've ever had. The meat was tender, the bread was soft and crisp in all the right ways, and the sauce that came with it? Next level. Of course, we had to get the truffle ravioli with steak and shrimp. It's an all-time classic for me. The truffle flavor is intense in the best way possible, and every bite feels like luxury. It's always unbelievable -- a dish that never, ever misses. I do have to mention that the service was a bit off this time. We were forgotten by the servers a few times, which meant it took much longer than usual to get our food and drinks. But honestly, Joey's is so good I'm willing to let it slide. The food is just that incredible. If you haven't been, you're seriously missing out. Unbelievable meal every single time.

Yelp
If you're looking for an upscale dining experience with all the right touches, this place is a must-visit! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne--a delightful way to kick off the evening. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with dim lighting that sets a relaxed mood and beautiful wood furnishings that add an elegant, rustic charm. One thing that stood out was how spacious the restaurant felt. Tables are thoughtfully arranged, so you can enjoy your meal without feeling crowded. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, striking the perfect balance between being helpful and giving us space to enjoy our evening. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, and it was absolutely perfect--crispy, flavorful, and seasoned to perfection. For dessert, the butter cake with raspberry sauce stole the show. It was rich, buttery, and the tartness of the raspberry sauce balanced it beautifully. Honestly, it's a solid 11/10! This restaurant has earned a repeat visit for sure. Exceptional food, stellar service, and an ambiance that makes you want to linger a little longer. Highly recommended!

Yelp
i came to celebrate a birthday. I had a great time and Kevin provided excellent service and made it a memorable night. Will return. I ordered the truffle fries and spaghetti pomodoro. It's a great place for a special occasion.

Yelp
Y'all, let me put you ON real quick--this place was already TOP-TIER, but my man KEVIN just turned it into a whole experience...

Yelp
Nice place to eat. A bit pricey though, but hey, it's in Newport Beach, so that is the norm. We each got some champagne upon arrival, that was complimentary. I had a Joey Cheeseburger with bacon and it came with fries- for $29.50. The burger was good and light. Wifey had something that looked like spaghetti with chicken (Chicken Parmesan)-but t tasted good. We had a nice and tasty butter cake for dessert and it came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It is a large place with inside and outside seating. TVs at the bar, And a great ambiance. It was hustle bustle and I liked it a lot. Valet parking out front. The lighting was nice and clean. It's in Fashion Island. The service was very good also. Although they changed our waitstaff three times during our meal Will return definitely!
google avatar

Kathryn T.

Yelp
Great food choice attached to Fashion Island with ample outdoor seating 1. Reservation recommended 2. Valet is an option or take your chances with mall parking 3. Champagne before you sit down 4. Good portion size and California twists on restaurant staples 5. Consistently good service

Yelp
One of our favorite places to eat in Newport Beach. First off the complementary sparkling wine upon checking in is also a nice touch to the start of a good meal. For food: I tried the Steak and Ravioli Bianco and cleaned the plate empty it was so good. Also the steak and sushi option is good too! My bf loves steak frites and it's his go-to here! Their cocktails are great, including their slushie cocktails, but In the summer- they had a Watermelon Drink and it was the most refreshing cocktail I had in a long time. They offer happy hour everyday from 3-5pm and an evening happy hour from 9-close on Sundays-Wednesdays. We've been here now multiple times and have brought friends from out of town.

Yelp
THE BEST! We've frequented this location a few times for special occasions, but our latest visit to Joey's was hands down the best experience we've had in terms of their food. This location is always very busy -- expect to wait a bit even with a reservation. Typically a complimentary champagne is offered while people wait, but the day we went it was so busy, people were even being served dinner in the waiting area. The waiting area almost looks like part of the dining area of the restaurant, so if I hadn't come here before I wouldn't have even noticed. Because this location is so busy, expect it to be VERY loud. We ordered our usual Joey Classic Steak, and Ravioli Bianco. In addition to our usuals, we also tried the Cajun Blackened Chicken, which was ABSOLUTELY delicious! To start off, all our dishes were very hot, which is how I prefer them! Everything was seasoned perfectly. The Cajun Blackened Chicken was absolutely a star. The chicken was perfectly tender with a crispy exterior. The warm potato and bacon salad complimented the chicken very well, and the creamy coleslaw was full of flavor. We had to ask our steak to be redone once, and I guess with how busy they were they forgot about it so when we received our steak back it was cold. Because of how unpleasant that was, they kindly remade the entire dish. The steak was perfectly cooked, very tender, and full of flavor. Because it was our anniversary, we were even given a complimentary dessert! It was a delicious piece of flan that almost had a texture like cheesecake. The raspberry sauce complemented it super well. VERY DELICIOUS! Even with the steak incident, I would say the food was so good it didn't even matter. 10/10 experience!

Yelp
Complimentary champagne makes me order a bottle. Relaxed and fun lunch. Food was excellent and would like to go back.

Yelp
Our food was delicious and we were pleasantly surprised with how tasty every dish was. We had reservations and were seated fairly quickly. We were also offered complimentary bubbles which we appreciated. Food: Our favorite of the night was the hummus, seared salmon sushi and wagyu carpaccio. The apple pie was also a great dessert choice. Ambience: It can get pretty loud as the night goes on. We had to push back our reservation from 5:30pm to 9pm and we realized that might have been a mistake. We were seated next to the outside bar so we had a few drunk people standing around us. Normally we wouldn't mind but since it was a special occasion we were looking a quieter more reserved seating, perhaps inside the restaurant. We still enjoyed ourselves but I wouldn't make reservations for a special occasion again so late at night. Service: Our server was excellent. She wished my bf a happy birthday upon seating us. I thought that was sweet of her and demonstrated she cared enough to read my reservation notes. Parking: We found parking fairly quickly plus there's valet available.

Yelp
1st time at JOEY Newport and our experience was good, but feel it could have been better. We felt neglected by our server but the manager stepped up and made sure we were taken care of. I also want to note that ALI, who greeted us by the entrance went above and beyond. We were seated promptly by the fire pit and he made sure we were comfortable there. What was ordered: Tuna & Avocado Crunch Roll Steak Frites Crème Brûlée Cheesecake The Good Life Margarita I look forward to visiting again for happy hour.

Yelp
Fun Fact: ---- A couple dozen JOEY restaurants exist in U.S. and Canada --- What really sets this New American restaurant apart from other "chains" is their service. 5 STAR service. Arrival: From the moment you walk in, you are greeted (with complimentary wine and champagne). They go above and beyond to make your experience as amazing as can be. My only qualm was parking, valet takes up a good chunk of parking and if not valeting, expect to park far out for a little walk. Location: beautiful - set in Fashion Island Mall, there is both inside and outside seating. The outdoors seating is beautiful with modern furniture, areas of shade, and a bar. Menu: HUGE, something for everyone in all different cuisines. Starters from Gyoza to Korean Fried Cauliflower, to hummus, crab cakes and caviar. Entrees also very expansive from salads to sushi, pasta, burgers, steaks, chicken, seafood & sweets. Food taste: Above average taste. Good portions, flavors are in the right taste profile, I personally wasn't impressed with the food to "have to come back", but would be a great place to take anyone due to the service, menu options, and seating options.

Yelp
Definitely a cute and cozy place. Food quality is great and on point. We were late for our reservation so we couldn't get our table because holidays were super busy which I understand. They were handing out free glasses of champagne when you walk in. We got lucky and got good seats at the bar. Lucky for us the server/bartender at the bar was so humble and so accommodating, her name is Elise I believe. Hard to hear it's so loud in there. She was more helpful than the guy that was supposed to take our order but never came back to check on us. The espresso and dirty martini she made was yum!!! We orders the beef carpaccio which is our fav anywhere we go. The steak and pasta and Chilean Seabass for dinner. Everything was delicious. We would definitely come back if we are in the area.

Yelp
Joey is a great upscale family friendly (and dog friendly) establishment. You are greeted with a friendly smile and complimentary glass of the sparkling wine. We stated with a couple sushi cones and the hummus appetizer. The hummus appetizer is amazing especially with the hot and a little crispy pita. We then had the Joey Burger - which is very good. We also got the steak and the steak and sushi. The steak came with some fun crispy potatoes - these were unique (think spring rolls filled with mashed potatoes). The steak and sushi were pretty good. The sauce was a little spicy and gingery. Overall good experience. Looking forward to coming back for the hummus and to try out some more items.

Yelp
I have enjoyed visiting JOEY for their excellent attentive service and excellent menu. It is a very popular restaurant and the venue is spacious and open creating an upbeat and modern environment. The prices are reasonable for the excellent quality of food and excellent beverages.

Yelp
JOEY has done it yet again. 3rd time here and equally delicious. Fun and trendy vibes all around. Be expected to wait...even with a reservation. Major shout out to our incredible server, Olivia...she really took care of us tonight.

Yelp
Our daughter had a major career milestone so we made a reservation at Joe's in Newport Beach to celebrate. Our server Grace and the gentleman who works with her were so attentive and even made a card to congratulate our daughter!! Of course, the food and service were incredible and then Grace surprised us with a complimentary dessert (2 actually) that capped off the perfect evening. It was just perfect, from start to finish!!

Yelp
Amazing ambiance and service. I recommend coming for happy hour, they have drinks and foods for a decent price. I love how they can customize drinks. I asked for a pickle martini which isn't on their menu, but definitely should be since it was handcrafted to perfection. I also recommend getting the chicken Szechuan wrap, it's a bit spicy and pairs so well with the sweet/savory marinade. Service is soo good, I never been disappointed. All the staffs are so friendly and accommodating. Plus you always get greeted with complimentary champagne which is another bonus!

Yelp
This place does light, tangy, sweet dishes & desserts--so much better than those cheap American-Chinese food. Perfect for a hot day: an ice-cold Mango Mai Tai. The manager gave me a free appetizer after seeing my food posts on Facebook! It was a Japanese/Mexican fusion Sushi Taco with peppers, lime, mango, lobster, and rice. The filling was light, tangy, and sweet, and the shell was perfectly thick, firm, and crispy--easy to eat even for people with dental issues. Steak & Spring Pea Ravioli: surf and turf done right. Perfectly seared steak with a delicious tangy-sweet cream sauce. Herb Crush Salmon with asparagus, peas, pickled tomatoes, truffle cream sauce, and mashed potatoes. Both serve salmon, but Joey's salmon is light, tangy, and sweet. Cheesecake Factory's is rich and miso-flavored. Ended the meal with amazing Crème Brûlée Cheesecake. The top was perfectly caramelized, and it came with cream, strawberries, and mint leaves. Ate it all, perfectly full. Yum! The restaurant gave me a complimentary appetizer, so I showed my appreciation with a 22% tip, bringing the total to $150.84. Pricey, but worth every penny! Amazing food & service. I'll be back with friends for sure.
