Joey the Cat's Arcade

This is a really cool place to hold your private event! Our team recently had a happy hour at Joey the Cat’s Arcade and everyone had a blast! Some overheard comments: 1. “This is a really great venue!” 2. “The drinks are really good!” 3. “It’s so clean!” Joey and his team were really passionate about Skeeball and were super helpful coordinating our event. They were very responsive through email and their online pricing estimator was 100% accurate. Besides skeeball, there are other arcade games such as pac man, claw machines, air hockey and whack a mole - something for everyone. I think it might be a little pricey but with a large enough group, the price per person isn’t too bad. If it’s in your budget, definitely hold your event here!

Went to this place for a work event. So much fun, especially the side ball tournament and unlimited arcade games. The food and drinks were delicious. Highly recommend for corporate and personal parties!

Great place for a party, fun place to play games. I organized an adult birthday party though these folks and it was easy, timely and the event was fun. They have a line of Skeeball games, we splurged for the tournament which was worth it, for the announcer, bracket, etc. Other games include pinball, air hockey and ping pong. For party planning they dealt with the catering company, got a bartender on site and were generally well prepared for us. Would definitely recommend for parties of any age.

Fun little place. The food was great. I don't "drink," but I had soda, and the barkeep was very nice. The staff was all friendly and inviting. We had a great time. The place was reserved for just our group. Don't expect a large place. Our 40 people filled it. All the arcade stuff was "vintage," but in good shape. No modern "video" games. It was all mechanical - pinball, skeeball, air hockey, whack-a-mole, etc.

Such a fun and unique event venue! Perfect for birthdays, corporate gatherings, or any special occasion. Joey, the owner, is incredibly kind and accommodating -- his love for arcade games truly shines through. You can tell he's poured his heart into creating an amazing atmosphere that's both nostalgic and full of energy.

I recently attended a company offsite at Joey the Cat and had an absolute blast. And it wasn't just me, everyone I talked to afterwards really enjoyed the event. I wasn't the one who planned it so unfortunately I don't have much insight into the logistics, but we had a selection of beer and wine for drinks as well as a make-your-own-taco bar (I assume it was catered) that was absolutely delicious. The skee ball tournament that they helped organize was so much fun even though I was eliminated in the first round. You're asked to pair up and provide your team names, and after that they run a quick single-elimination tournament where the winning pair gets bragging rights and a trophy they can proudly pose for pictures with :) In addition to skee ball, there are a number of other games including a couple of pinball machines, whack-a-mole, air hockey (my personal fave!), a shooting game, as well as a hoop throwing game. I loved this venue for precisely this reason, as there was always something to do or play. Of course, if all you want to do is hang out with your coworkers and chat, there's plenty of standing space as well as some tables, so you can make yourself comfortable. It's not a huge space, but it was good for the 60 or so people we had. I also really appreciated that there are cubbies near the door for any bags / purses / jackets. The location itself is kind of random; when our Uber pulled up next to a warehouse in the Mission, we initially thought we were in the wrong spot until we spotted the small Joey the Cat logo on the door. But once you're in, you forget about all that and have a great time :)

THIS WAS THE BEST BIRTHDAY PARTY I EVER HAD!!! the venue is amazing. so many fun arcade games, you can set up beer pong, and the staff is the BEST. they have a great bartender, doorman, and Sam does a great job coordinating. they even do clean up at the end! so if you want to head out to the bars after or whatever you totally can. amazing for company offsites, team bondings, sub 100 people holiday parties, birthday parties, etc. cannot recommend JOEY THE CAT enough!!!!! super clean, well decorated venue close to major bars in mission (5 min walk to Brunos!)

Went there for a holiday party. No sign you have to know it's there. The host catered some food in and we they had a beer and wine setup with 4 maybe 5 pinball machines, 5-6 skeeball machines and basketball and some other arcade machines. It was fun event, much better than just drinking and eating food with a few people you know. They didn't have a way to keep the food warm so a bunch of the food was cold. Staff are very friendly

Great experience back in 2020! Lots of great games, so easy to work with and to bring in catering. Highly recommended.

Okay, if you ever get a chance to throw a party at their private warehouse - do it!!! I'm in the events business and we hosted our holiday party here the last 2 years and it's such a huge hit! We have kids who attend and adults and they all equally enjoy the space. We opt for the skeeball tournament which is run by their staff. They have all sorts of games: hoop fever, pin ball, ping pong, and skeeball of course! The staff are all very nice and helps with setting up and breaking down. My last holiday party there i forgot a bunch of printouts that were part of a game we were doing and the manager on site was so nice in helping us get it all printed. They have a doorman who sits outside to ensure only our group is coming in so no drifters crashing your event. P.s. they allow outside catering and beer and wine :)

So much fun, brings back childhood memories in arcades! I'm not very good at basketball but it was still fun to shoot. The air hockey was my favorite game as a kid and it was my favorite game that night! I'd never played skeeball before but it's addicting. For people who have never played, I got some tips to stay low, lean forward, hold more than one ball in your hand that isn't throwing so you can hold your stance and keep going. I did find my flow using that method and rolled 5 40s in a row. Definitely reccomend for a few friends to just hang out if you're in the mission area or a small company off site.

I planned a team event here for our 25 or so staff and had a great time! It was super easy to plan thanks to the team at Joey the Cat. From beginning to end the staff was very helpful and super responsive. The venue was perfect for our size - and the food, beverage and entertainment were awesome. It was great to have the space to ourselves! I hope to be back in the near future and can't say enough good things about this place. Highly recommend!

Who else would you go to for Skee Ball besides the 2 time National Champion Joey the Cat. The man has a passion for the game and it comes through in his business. My wife and I had the pleasure of having Joey the Cat Skee Ball rentals at our wedding and it was the 2nd best decision I have ever made, aside from marrying my wife. Joey worked very well with the property managers and handled everything in a very professional manner. He even provided pro tips to our wedding guests. I highly recommend!!!!

We recently hosted our companies "2018 Kick Off Party" at Joey the Cat and it was absolutely amazing. The team had a great time and everyone made sure to tell me how much fun they had. The games are incredible and the skee ball was off the chain. It very quickly turned into a competition with some of our employees rattling off their high scores and scoffing at others who "of course cheated." So it's safe to say they had a blast. Sam Sabo was a huge, huge help in getting everything booked and was so kind and understanding when I needed to make some last-minute-ish changes. He made the night magical and made my life & job so much easier! Highly recommended for any sort of fun party you might be looking to host!

Joey the Cat!!! These guys are the best. We held our company party here and it was perfect. From the very first communication (I submitted a request for info on their website) through completion of the event, they took such good care of me and my group. The space is beautiful, the games are fun (it feels like cheating, they all just work!) the staff is friendly and accommodating...I can't say enough good things about this place. Sam, Kyle and Alex are a dream team. Thanks again, guys - we will be back!

Very cool place. Retro arcade games: pinball, air hockey, arcade basketball and of course skee ball. These era of games were just outside of my generation so I don't think I appreciated it as much. I went during one of their open night (still have to buy a ticket) and we got to bring our own alcohol and food so of course I had fun with great company. When it's crowded there aren't many places to sit. Plus it's a somewhat of a small space.

MEOW! MEOW! MEOW! If I were a cat, like Joey is, I would have nothing but exstatic meows and elated purrrrrs for his quirky, authentic, portable skeeball machine. Can you think of anything more awesome than a party with endless, free-play skeeball? I can: skeeball on the boardwalk in Jack London Square with a man dressed as a cat. Which is exactly what happened at my party. Joey is a character, and stays in character all day, lending a hipster-meets-carny flair to the skeeball scene. His machine is a gorgeous specimen you'd never expect to be so transportable, but it is! He's got set-up and all the heavy lifting covered, so all you need to do is point him to his spot. If you have a special event coming up and want to wow your guests with a totally unexpected novelty, Joey is your man/cat!

An amazing venue! We held our holiday party here, and I could not be happier with the results! Sam and his team took care of everything - literally all I had to do was show up on time and leave when it was over. If you ever plan company events, you know this is usually not how that works out for the planner...The entire group of about 45 fit very comfortably and was enthralled all night be the variety of games. If you're looking for an out of the box event, this is your place! 10/10 would have an event here again.

Thank you for the best way to bring in my 30th birthday! My family decided to surprise me for my 30th with a cheesy (I used to love chuck-e-cheese) birthday party. Well only in SF is there a skee ball champion who has machines and comes over and sets them up while I'm away getting a manicure! I seriously left the house and came back an hour and a half later to find a mini chuck e. cheese in my living room. Totally amazing. I think I'm the only one I know who has had their own skee ball party. Totally rec this for anyone wanting something different.

We had our son's Bar Mitzvah party here, at Joey the Cat. IT WAS AWESOME! Every guest was engaged. There was not one lonely soul sitting on the sidelines, from the eldest family member to the youngest child, there was something for everyone. Much of our family comes from the NYC/NJ area so, we are all familiar with Skeeball, which is an old boardwalk game that was invented in Vineland, New Jersey in 1908 (Looked this fact up on Wikipedia). Most of our family grew up going to the Jersey Boardwalks, from Seaside to Pt Pleasant to Wildwood, where Skeeball is just as popular today as it was 100 years ago. So, once we saw this place, it was a no-brainer party venue. We knew everyone would love it. The whole party theme felt reminiscent of an east coast boardwalk, with Whack-a-Mole, a photo booth, pinball machines and music also included. Sam, at Joey the Cat, organized the whole party, picking the food truck and dessert stands. We had a San Francisco gourmet slider food truck, which made several varieties of sliders, tater tots, and salads. Sam helped us pick gourmet cotton candy and frozen custard pop stands, which, with the food truck, added a local foodie twist. It felt like East Coast converging with West Coast. For those who remember spending our summer days and nights playing games on a Jersey boardwalk, it was a walk on memory lane, with a bit of San Francisco attitude thrown into the excitement. For those who are locals, it is just good old fashion fun! I would totally do this again, except I have only one kid. I highly recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for an alternative to a sit-down dinner/dance party, which is something we were trying to avoid when we looked here!

Previous reviewers neglected to mention... a full-size, stand alone Pac Man! (I spent the summer of 1983 playing Ms. Pac Man on Atari.) This was the best corporate party ever. (Loved Skee Ball in Cape May, NJ as a child and this place brought back such good memories.)

Joey brought his Skeeball machine to our AngelHack event in December and it was a HUGE HIT. He brought the machine in pieces so it was super easy to get through the doors and then setup took only 3 minutes. And from there, everyone loved it. I'll definitely have Joey at my next event.

Went here last night for a work party and it was really fun. Small space, perfect for around 50 people. There was Skeeball, basketball, pinball, air hockey and more. Great venue space for a smaller sized group!

WOW, WOW, WOW! Such an amazing experience from beginning to end. Highly recommend this venue for any and all occasions. Sam Sabo was so awesome to work with in planning and managing this event, there isn't one thing I would have changed about our experience with choosing Joey the Cat as our venue. Glenn the bartender was GREAT! This was for a work event with over 20 people, that was flawlessly executed. My team is from all around the world and EVERYONE enjoyed themselves! Games are well kept up and much fun. THANK YOU for such a positive, memorable and enjoyable experience!

Joey the Cat is a hidden gem in SF and I would highly recommend it for any casual, fun event you may be throwing. My wife and I had our wedding after party at Joey the Cat, and every part of the process was so seamless and easy. Sam (the Chief FUN Officer) was so responsive and accommodating to all our questions, and the staff that helped us during the event were great too. I would absolutely have another event there.

I just held my husband's surprise 50th birthday party here and it was perfect!!! Sam was truly wonderful to work with - he was very quick to get back to me, and always left me feeling very confident when I had questions - and I had a lot! Every detail was perfect - including the doorman, coordination of the evening, communication with the caterer, and the amazing bartender! My guests were raving about what a great place it was, and folks are still telling me how much fun they had! I would definitely hold another event here, and hope to be invited to one, so I can actually enjoy all the great games myself!

Wow!! We celebrated my husband's 40th birthday here and it was amazing! These guys are the real deal. Amazing location and venue (seriously - so much fun with all of the games and the overall vibe) and amazing customer service all around. Our friends had a blast - as did we! One of my girlfriends said it was the best birthday party venue she has ever been to! We chose to order food from one of their recommendations (Mateo's in the Mission) and it was delicious! I would recommend this place to anyone for any special occasion or corporate event. I hope some of my friends will throw parties here in the future so we can go back :)

This place is amazing!! We had a team event here and it could not of gone more perfect. Everyone was blown away. Alex was so responsive and easy to work with. Him and his team took such good care of us. We had a group of 30 and it still felt very intimate. The skee ball tournament, the food, THE VENUE, was a total hit. I cannot recommend Joey the Cat enough! From the initial stages of planning our company offsite, I focused on what our team building activity would be. I had reached out and heard back from Sam who from start to finish was a tremendous help. The level of service this venue offers is perfect, from logistic organizing, catering set up, break down, etc. I was actually able to relax and enjoy this event which I usually don't since I'm the one coordinating everything. Our team had such a fun time and I know this will be a memorable experience for everyone. An excellent and affordable venue for a kid-adult party. We held a bar mitzvah party here, and it was as if we'd rented a bar out, but kids were allowed. The adults ate, drank, danced and played games while the kids ran around like maniacs and played all the games they wanted. The tournament is well worth it, and was super dramatic and fun for everyone. The staff was exceptionally helpful, and it was so great to have it be plug-and-play: they decorated, set up the tables, set up the catering, and the bar, and then did the clean up.

I really want to have an event here. Everyone loves skiball, arcade games, that basketball hoop game, air hockey, open space to hang out and engage. Can't go wrong.

Our company event at Joey the Cat's Mission venue was a hit! They made putting the event together easy by organizing the food through their recommended caterer and an open bar. The guys hosting the event had good energy and made the whole experience really fun for all. There were enough games to keep all 30 of us occupied. The Skeeball Tournament was great. (P.S. Guerilla Catering was awesome - their taco bar had more than enough food for us and it was delicious!)

I was here for a friend's company party (Plaid Out!) and the space was super fun! It's an adult-kid's dream and had a lot of games that made me reminisce of a night spent at Chuck E Cheese's or Dave & Busters

I honestly can't say enough good things about working with JTC for my daughters Bat Mitzvah party. From start to finish, the staff was attentive, responsive and helpful. I work in events and feel that the JTC staff was as good as any high end venue I work with. The pricing was very clear and straightforward and our 40ish 8th graders had a fantastic time. I would highly recommend.

In an effort to "one up" my friend's birthday party, I called Joey to setup a Ski Ball competition at my party. Joey took care of everything from setup to removal without a hitch. Everyone loved it and Joey even refereed our games and gave me a few secret pointers! The games really got everyone talking, laughing, and having a good time. We are already talking about getting one again for some rematches!

I booked Joey the Cat for a team offsite for work and it was a huge hit! When we showed up the Skeeball machines were warmed up and ready to go, there was a great bartender who kept the drinks flowing, a delicious taco spread was set up for us to much on, and we had a killer Skeeball tournament (complete with live bracket, prizes, and pump up competition soundtrack). A+, would definitely recommend for others looking for a fun party idea or company offsite.

I had the pleasure of meeting Joey the Cat at the Mr. Mission Competition and I was so inspired by his passion for skeeball that I hired him to bring skeeball machines to my brother's wedding. The guests LOVED it and they were so impressed that he is the 2 time National Skeeball Champion. It was totally worth the money and my family has not stopped talking about this since.

Joey provided one of the most fun parts of a great 50th birthday bash. The team was super professional, fun and easy to work with. Most of all they let us have our party and did not dictate how we played. Kids LOVED it, Adults LOVED it and I could not have been happier with price or professionalism. Renting Joey the Cat's Skeeball Games for my 40th birthday party was such an excellent decision! All the guests had so much fun playing and it made the party so much more interactive Having the machines set on free play allowed for everyone to play multiple times, some guests competitive spirit definitely showed! Alex was so easy to work with in getting the events sorted out for the rentals, he made it so I could enjoy the party and didn't have to worry about the logistics day of. I hope I can have another party with Joey the Cat's skeeball's again! Definitely recommended - money well spent!

Easily the best corporate event I've ever planned/been to. Sam and team were fun and professional and did everything in their power to make this a memorable and unique experience. If you're looking for an event that is outside the box and will have everyone talking long afterwards, this is the place to go!
