Google
Got the chicken cutlet sandwich, cutlet itself was perfect and delish. Temperature was hot, ordered and it was ready quickly. There was a bit too much vinegar for my taste - really overpowered the sandwich. I would have preferred less vinegar and more basil, but overall a nice sandwich. Thanks!

Michael M.

Google
First timer, got the early riser by chef recommendation. Absolutely knocked my socks off. The fresh soft kaiser roll, the fresh mozz, made to order and fried to perfection cutlet, 2 eggs. Just amazing, and the tomato bacon jam and hot honey drizzle send it over the top. Definitely will be back. Thanks fellas

Kaylin M

Google
I tried the early riser and it was yummy! Absolutely no wait when I dropped around 9:00am on a weekday. All the seating inside an enclosed patio and there’s WiFi.

olivia R.

Google
such yummy sandwiches and huge as well. my whole family absolutely loved the 3 different ones we got and devoured them. would definitely come again !!!!! staff is also so incredible and kind

Jason R.

Google
Aside from having the sandwich misnamed has Ham on its menu, they have the best Mr John Taylor’s Porkroll, egg and cheese in SC. And on a Kaiser! Thanks for making this fantastic sandwich happen despite my tardiness.

Melanie C.

Google
My husband and I got two of the vegetarian dishes to go, eggplant rolltini and eggplant parmesan, plus some wine, of which they had quite a large selection. The to-go food is packaged and in fridge display cases, with many options, ready to be reheated. The food was soooo delicious, I'm 100% going back here. How nice that you can pick up restaurant-quality food so quickly and easily!

Google
I don’t know why we waited so long to try Joey Tomatoes, but we’re in love! The food was incredible. I tried to take a pic before taking a bite, but that was impossible. We’ll be back!

Samantha B.

Google
This was the BEST sandwich I’ve ever had in Charleston and maybe ever. We got the number 4 and the number 10. The flavor was absolutely sensational on both sandwiches and the chicken cutlet was cooked to perfection. The roast beef was so tender and they didn’t skimp on any ingredients. I cannot wait until summer to have one of these on the beach with their house made pasta salad. If you haven’t tried this place and you want a sandwich in my pleasant this is a MUST DO.

Yelp
YUM is the best way to sum it up - quick and easy deli with onsite parking and outdoor seating. Lots of options we didn't get to try but the food, and service were fantastic! Great location!
google avatar

Yelp
Incredible hidden jewel of lunch spot! My daughter and I had Tomato Basil Bisque and HIT CAPRESE PANINI! Grilled to perfection vine ripe tomatoes with mozzarella and pesto! We dipped our sandwiches in our yummy soup! All good! Service was on point too. We sat outside on side porch. They cater and have many sides and casseroles for sale too. Their desserts looked like heaven and can't wait to try next time! Fabulous experience!

Yelp
Yelp brought me here ! On my way to Savannah needed a place to eat. Whip out handy dandy Yelp and find this gem. As I am looking through the menu a customer states "you can't go wrong with anything everything is good here". That made me feel good about where I was eating. I looking through the menu and I believe is was the owner or manager that said "be right back I'm going to pop the bread in the oven". HAAALLLELUJA ! Found a fresh spot ! I had the chicken cutlet and a cup of tomato soup. The bread fresh and crisp, the balsamic and oil (the good kind) soaked up with the crusty bread, chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella- OMG lick your fingers good the soup was fresh and made in house full of flavor. If you live by here, I'm sure you go to the gym

Yelp
Hadn't been here in years and was craving some Jersey. Nothing screams home like a Taylor, egg and cheese, so I placed my order and checked out all of their updates. Lots of grab-and-go assembled dinners which I know I could vibe with given my love for Joe's cooking over at sister venue Bricco Bracco. That would be for another day, but since I was still waiting on my sandwich, I browsed their cold cases and desserts - everything appeared FRESH. The screened door led to a quasi-outside dining area which was roof-covered and seriously cozy! The guy who grabbed my order initially emerged with my breakfast in fewer than 10 minutes and with a smile - the service was 10 out of 10.

Yelp
I had the grandmother sandwich, it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
In Charleston for a wedding this weekend and always love finding the hidden gems! Walked in & we were quickly greeted by the staff. Small place not too crowded for a Friday lunch. I was torn between the #1 and #3. I went with #3 and it did not disappoint! Super fresh bread & the sandwich was stuffed perfectly! My husband got the #5 and the roasted red peppers on it made it delicious! We also got the T.O.M. It was too strong of onion for me but my husband enjoyed it! They have a screened in patio to eat and everything was very organized and clean. We would definitely go back next time we're in town!

Yelp
Joey Tomatoes is a casual, no frills NY-style deli and market serving fresh, high-quality Italian food. Their bread comes from an authentic Italian bakery in NY, and they make fresh mozzarella daily. So delish! I loved the Chicken Parm on artisan bread and can't wait to try the #1 Chicken Cutlet with breaded chicken, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, basil, and balsamic. Great food and friendly service! The staff brought the food out to our table.

Yelp
First place we stopped at in town and we were pleasantly surprised at both the food and service. The sandwiches were pretty good. The bread they get fresh from Jersey and it was delicious. The onions on the roast beef sandwich were not my favorite, but you can always take those off. The server was pretty busy when we came in, which wasn't really an issue for us. But to make up the minimal wait he caused us, he actually gave us some brownies on the house. They were delicious.

Claire K.

Yelp
No indoor seating, but nice screened in patio with free WiFi. Got breakfast here and it was delicious. Heads up - menu online is different than what they had in person. I got a sausage, egg, and cheese on Kaiser roll & my husband got the Jersey turnpike (pork roll) - both so good! The rolls are quality & you can make hour sandwich a "fat boi" by adding a hash brown. Small operation with quality service - will be going back to try lunch!

Yelp
Wow, bloody wow. Can't believe it's taken us so long to check this place out. Have been here twice in a week now :) The food / salad & sandwiches selections are soooo good and their bread though. Wow. Best of all is their customer service. You are treated like family when you walk into this place. 3 Thumbs Up & 5 Stars from the wife and I.

Yelp
Joey's is BACK!! (Back to what it used to be- AMAZING!) I had not been to Joey Tomatoes in a few years. It had simply gone downhill. But I just found out it is under new management/ownership- Curtis- who assured me there was now plenty of meat on my favorite sandwich, the #10 Uncle Vinny's Roast Beef (pictured). I stopped in for lunch with a friend. We both had and loved the roast beef sammies, with extra garlic mayo on mine. It had a generous helping of tasty rare roast beef on their awesome signature loaf of bread. We also tried the tiramisu...delicious! The next day, I went back and ordered the Muffaletta to go. It was also delicious! While I was inside, I sampled the hot black bean soup (surprisingly good, since I don't usually like beans), the pasta salad (light and terrific), the potato salad (not too mayonnaisey and nicely spiced) and the amaretto cake (fabulous). I will definitely be going back. Service is great (say hello to Maggie, if you go...she's super!). You can dine inside the screened-in/plastic patio, or, do what I usually do...get takeout. Lots of delicious-looking pre-made meals to take home and just heat up too. So glad to have such a wonderful sandwich shop/deli in Mt. Pleasant. On Chuck Dawley, just off Coleman.

Yelp
Walked in on a rainy day and placed a to-go order. Maybe they were having an off moment because it was kinda strange. It seemed like everything had an additional explanation or caveat to it like, we have this item but it comes on a different bread today or the menu is changing so these items aren't available. Another one was we ordered a soup, but they didn't have the right size container so they had to explain that they didn't short me on the soup and that it normally comes in a smaller container. Nothing really wrong but those types of things are often a sign of poor management. My friend ordered the eggplant parm not realizing that it was under the take and bake section. We were taking it home so it wasn't really a problem, but it leads me to believe that none of those items are available to order if you sit down at the restaurant which is odd. They do have plenty of tables to sit at inside and out, but everyone including us were doing takeout orders. I had the meatball sub. The meatballs were great but I didn't love the bread as I think it was too dense for that sandwich. I think I'll try something else next time. Some of the take and bake items looked great to have in the freezer for the next time you don't feel like cooking so I wouldn't mind stocking up on a few of those.

Yelp
I've seen this place daily as I drive up and down Chuck Dawley. Looked it up, read some reviews and just had to try it. Real friendly staff. Very knowledgeable about the menu and food. Some many awesome options. Couldn't decide, but with some guidance, settled on the Meatball Sub. Came out promptly. Choice of sitting outside or inside. I sat inside in a typical sandwich shop atmosphere. Really enjoyed the sub with a soft drink. Peaked in the cooler and was instantly attracted to Prosecco and the like. Nice touch but gotta go back to work. Maybe next time. Little sandwich picnic with champagne. Not a bad idea haha.

Gayle M.

Yelp
Just had the best sandwich EVER!!! Everyone is Mt pleasant should eat here. Sandwiches, pasta, take hone dinners, anything you could want. Worth the trip.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
my favorite sandwich is the # 10 but I also like the # 6 and #3. But truth be told everything they make is fantastic. They always great you with a smile and make you feel like family. Whenever I have a new client that has just moved to town I introduce them to Joey Tomatoes.

Emily P.

Yelp
Wide variety of delicious sandwiches! Friendly service and great prices. Glad we stopped in for lunch.

Adam M.

Yelp
Chicken cutlet sandwich is supreme, my go to is the godfather or the number 7 you can't go wrong

TonyMartin M.

Yelp
A little pricey for a sandwich but it really is delicious. Desserts are good as well
google avatar

Kate G.

Yelp
The owner George, was amazing and very friendly. I had never been in and was looking for a good post-beach sandwich and this sandwich exceeded all my expectations. I got the #1 Italian Chicken Sandwich. Their pasta salad is to die for.. one of the best I've ever had and they even have premade fresh dinner meals that they cook daily. Cannot wait to try that. 10/10! Best sandwich!
google avatar

Tom I.

Yelp
I know their roast beef is the big seller, but my go to is their hot Caprese. I can't believe how good this sandwich is. My wife's is the Confused Reuben. She always asks for a slight change to the sandwich, and they readily accomodate her. This place gets all the good checkmarks.
google avatar

Christian C.

Yelp
Came here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon (past lunch time) and it was pretty empty so our food came out fast and the server was friendly. We split the chicken parm and chicken cutlet sandwiches. Both of them were so delicious and the bread was not the kind to cut the roof of your mouth haha. Really liked the outdoor seating area too. Look forward to coming back!

Emily D.

Yelp
We just moved to the area and have been searching for a great sandwich place and we found it. Awesome spot and reasonably priced. Highly recommend and Curtis is the best! Can't wait to be back.

Joan M.

Yelp
This is a very casual place. You order your food at the counter, and they bring it to you in a basket or bowl. Had chicken Parmesan sandwich--so good!
google avatar

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
My family went here for lunch. I was here once three years ago and really enjoyed it and this time was just as good! The potion sizes are great. You won't leave hungry! The bead and meat quality are really good and reasonably priced. I also love the outdoor seating. Overall our experience at Joey's was really good and I can't wait to come back again!
google avatar

Carly M.

Yelp
This place is INCREDIBLE!!! I get it very frequently. Everything on their menu is delicious and anything in the take-out market is also fantastic (highly recommend the chicken parm). The service is always friendly. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good Italian style sandwich!
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
Great authentic Italian sandwiches. The chicken cutlet is amazing. The tuna is not American mayonnaise based tuna salad - and is so much better. Pasta salads are a nice accompaniment. I highly recommend picking up a few sandwiches and taking to the beach or a park. Indoor and outdoor seating but no real atmosphere - go for the takeaway order.
google avatar

Meg C.

Yelp
I had been meaning to stop by this cute sandwich shop for a while and I am glad I did! I love that they have other items like lasagna, soup and sauce available to purchase as well. I got the Uncle Vinny and it was delicious! With a bag of chips it was perfect for the beach. I do wish it was better located since they have outside seating. Being on a busy road it can be quite load out there. It seems like they make their own bread too because it was delicious. No skimping on any condiments or meat either. I was surprised it was $13 total that's a big high for 1 sandwich and chips. That was actually very disappointing to me. I will be back for sure but not nearly as often as I would like based on that price point.
google avatar

Robin D.

Yelp
The food is delicious and the service is superb!!! It my new favorite in Mount Pleasant. I can't wait to try more items.
google avatar

Katherine A.

Yelp
Ordered online and was ready at the scheduled pickup. Perfect for my beach day. I got the chicken cutlet and it was amazing!! Would recommend
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
I have been to this location a few times and each time it got worse. The last time I think was my final time going here and I will continue to go to the Clement's Ferry location. The person behind the counter was very rude and seemed very annoyed that we came in. He kept telling us that he was closing soon (about an hour or so) and was already into cleaning so a lot of things he wasn't able to do. We realized when we got home that our orders weren't even correct, so that was very frustrating.
google avatar

Jean M.

Yelp
Godfather Turkey. Excellent sandwich. Homemade mayo, homemade roll, homemade mozzarella = fantastic! Next we are in Mount Pleasant we are definitely stopping here!
google avatar

Chelsea B.

Yelp
One of my favorite sandwich places. I always get the number 7 which is a chicken cutlet, fresh moz, sundried tomatoes, arugula, and balsamic. It's a good hearty sandwich that alone can make you full. My daughter had the meatball parm today and I had a few bites. That one was just okay. The meatballs were quite salty. I will stick with my number 7. Service here today was just okay. I don't look to have a full fledge conversation or anything, but we got here around 11:15/11:30 and it seemed like we inconvenienced the person behind the counter. I think she was eating when we arrived? Our food came quickly and it tastes as good as it always goes. This was a 3 star experience but I did 4 stars because I love eating here in general, but don't as often as I'd like because I live in Summerville.

Wendy S.

Yelp
I really stopped in because I had to use the bathroom but ended up getting a great sandwich! I got the #4, a breaded chicken sandwich with mozzarella, bruschetta and balsamic. I was served by a very friendly and knowledgeable gentleman, my food came out quickly and hot! I took my sandwich to go but they do have a nice little seating area inside.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
The sandwiches are big and delicious! I love the bread and the meats they use. Everything tastes great! I also love the new outdoor seating area! This is my second time coming here and I've enjoyed it just as much as the first time!

Mindy W.

Yelp
I was in Mt. Pleasant for an appointment. I almost went to White Duck Taco because it's a favorite in Asheville but figured I'd try something new. Yelp suggested Joey Tomatoes and the reviews were good so I gave it a shot. I was a little concerned when I got there because the parking lot was empty but I needn't have worried. They lovely woman at the front explained how to order and dine in so I went with the pollo Milanese sandwich. Had a short wait but didn't mind. Clearly it's a beloved lunch joint because folks started trickling in as well as some door dashers (or similar) picking up HUGE orders for what I assume were offices. Ginormous sandwich came out beautifully (I promptly packed up half to bring home). Chicken was super thin and very crispy. Mozzarella was fresh, greens and balsamic totally worked with it. If I had one critique it would be that tomatoes in the bruschetta topping weren't super ripe and it was very oniony (almost more pico de gallo than bruschetta). If I ordered again, I'd either request it on the side or just some sliced tomatoes. Would absolutely try there again when in the area.

David C.

Yelp
I've ordered from this place twice now. First time was through DoorDash. Second time I walked in on my own. Both times the sandwiches were great! If you're from anywhere in the Philly tristate area, this place will help fill that void you have. It reminds me of the neighborhood Italian markets I grew up with, like Carlino's and Pagano's. It's smaller but has the vibe, deli meats, good hot dishes and sammies, then they got the grab and go dinners too. I'm sure the more traction this place gets the wider their selection will grow. Looking forward to it!

Carole F.

Yelp
My husband and I stumbled on Joey Tomatoes and it was the best thing to happen all day! The young man serving us was very kind, attentive and had great recommendations. I had the roast beef panini and my husband had the roast Turkey panini. The bread was out of this world. And the waffle fries have a special ingredient that makes then delish. Eating here is a must!
google avatar

Kat L.

Yelp
Fantastic place for a great sandwich and sweet treats. My husband and I stopped in on the way to Sullivan's Island and we were so happy we chose this place. First off, staff is very helpful and friendly. This was our first time here and the young lady working up front was so sweet and walked us through how to order and what all they have to offer. As they made our sandwiches we checked out the bakery counter. Everything looked amazing! We got some fresh cannolis and cinnamon donuts with our sandwiches. They also have delicious sodas in glass bottles. Had to get some of those too :) We left very happy and will be back next time we are in the area. And lastly the sandwiches were incredible!! Really the best sandwich I've had in awhile.

Erin A.

Yelp
Such high quality food! Great twists on classic lunch menu. Love their grab and goes.

Bella S.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food and even better experience and costumer service!! The sandwiches tasted heavenly with fresh ingredients and bread! The atmosphere was perfect and the employees made our experience special and personal and even gave us free fresh baked cookies after we finished! If I could rate higher I would! Will be coming here any chance we get!
google avatar

Cailyn H.

Yelp
Ordered a turkey panini and the French onion soup and I also got their butterscotch bread pudding and it was SO GOOD!!! The guys that work here are also so so nice and make you feel right at home. Such a good deli spot

Kelly Ann T.

Yelp
Our food was so good we forgot to take pictures! This place is great!! They are so generous, we got to sample all the pre-mixed salads and a few cookies. They are so much more than your average deli salads and sandwiches. You can tell the chef and baker here are professionals. Everything has that extra step of excellence or creativity. Got the chicken cutlet sandwich and it was so so fresh! Highly recommend coming here if you are traveling as well, they have take home dinners. Definitely visit!!

Lindsay W.

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches! We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and the waffle fries were a great side!

Yelp
I'm from Jersey and with the exception of NY, there's not many places that take Delis more serious than us. I moved to Charleston about a month ago and I've been to a few delis. But after my visit to Joey Tomatoes, I just felt good. I felt good in knowing that my search was over. I'm not gonna go too much into detail, but simply put, the menu is big, but not too big and they have some creative sandwiches on it. Best of all, the quality of everything is great. They don't skimp on the meat and the bread is also really good. So if you're looking for plain ol' white sub rolls, then go to Subway. Lastly, you can tell everyone really enjoys working there. For an example, I ordered a custom sandwich and written, on the wrapping was "Nice build!" I know that's not a big deal, but it made me smile and sometimes it's little things like that, that make places stand out from the rest. So shout out to Evan for taking pride in whipping up his magical goodness in the kitchen. And I can't end this review without mentioning Christa. Every time I've been to Joey Tomatoes, she was the one that took my order. She is super cute, very friendly/ bubbly, and patient. She's definitely the perfect person to represent the company when you are met at the counter. Between the name and seeing that they have pork roll on the menu, I had high expectations. And they were definitely met!

Yelp
What a terrific sandwich! I stopped by on the way home from errands and purchased this to go. First, the bread...oh my did they ever get it right. Crusty crunchy outside, soft, chewy inside and delicious roast beef, spicy provolone, caramelized onions and garlic mayo - I'm in heaven. I skipped the tomato, because unless it comes straight from a garden, it has no flavor, right? This sandwich was also huge. I could only eat half and sadly had to through the other half out, as I just new I'd be disappointed in the leftovers. I can't wait to go back this weekend - wonder if they'll do 1/2 portions?
google avatar

Ross K.

Yelp
Joey Tomatoes is #1 in my mind. If you're coming back from a day at the beach or just running around Mount Pleasant and you need a sandwich- this is the spot. My wife and I have eaten at Joey Tomatoes plenty of times. We bring out-of-town guests here and frequent it on the weekends. At this point, we must have tried every sandwich and they are all amazing! Not to mention they have cookies as big as your face. You HAVE to come try this place out! I love the #5 but my wife loves #3. Either way, you're going to win.

Lindsey W.

Yelp
I am surprised this place only had 4 stars. It's so good!! We are visiting the area and stopped in to grab sandwiches for a picnic. We literally went back the next day and got more because they were delicious! We even bought take and bake lasagna rollups for dinner too. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Three items for the four stars... Taylor Pork Roll breakfast sandwich....screams Trenton NJ and all that's missing is the Greek Lady coffee paper cup with my java. Bread used for sandwiches...that in itself is worth 3 stars. For those of you exiles from tri-state land...you'll love the crusty nook-n-cranny idea. This aint a hero/hoagie/wedge/grinder roll...this is rustic stuff and pretty divine. Fresh mootz on some of the sandwiches. My #10 had provolone...but just fine (and not over mayoed). One star off for the idea it's full blown New York Italian deli/market...it's really more of a sandwich shop; the market offerings are pretty paltry (but good including freshly made ravioli, fried mootz, and some homemade soups and a few red saucey prepared classics). Most of the Italian Deli/Markets in NJ/NY/CT that profess this are really full blown markets with Italian imports and a butcher. Down here in Dixie that would be nitpicking. This place is good tho...

Yelp
I finally had the opportunity to try Joey Tomatoes, and I will be back again soon. I was in the neighborhood and wanted a quick snack. I stopped in and was wowed by all the options ready to go. They have everything from fresh types of deli salads, fresh Italian food to go, and frozen entrees... and how could I forget desserts! When I entered, the two gentlemen in there were super helpful by offering me a menu and asking me if I had any questions about anything. Once I opted for tomato pie (more of a bread type from what I would find around Philly area) and some mozzarella salad, they offered to heat it up for me with some delicious marinara. My snack was so good I ended up coming back after some errands to grab some meatballs and a frozen chicken spicy dish. They provided instructions to heat them up, and they were delicious addition to dinner. I can't wait to come back for one of the sandwiches and the desserts! So much love into the food!
