From the moment we walked into Joey Uptown, we knew we were in for an experience—not just a meal. The ambiance hits you right away: modern, elevated, and warm, with lighting that flatters every angle of the food and the people you came with. Service? On point. Our server was attentive without hovering, friendly without being fake, and knew the menu better than some chefs know their own kitchen.
Now let’s get into the food. First off, the presentation is next level. Everything that came to the table looked like it was styled for a magazine shoot. The sushi roll was plated like artwork, and the crisp on that fried calamari? Golden perfection. The steak—juicy, perfectly medium rare—melted like butter with each bite, and came with a chimichurri so fresh I’d swear they had an herb garden in the back.
Don’t even get me started on the cocktails. Balanced, creative, and strong enough to let you know they didn’t skimp on the pour. The spicy margarita had the right amount of kick, and the espresso martini could go toe-to-toe with any top cocktail bar in Houston.
We ended with dessert, and honestly, if you go and skip dessert, you’ve played yourself. The warm butter cake with vanilla ice cream? Criminally good. Rich, soft in the center, and had that slightly crisp edge that makes it addictive. We scraped the plate clean.
If you’re visiting Houston or live here and haven’t made your way to Joey Uptown, you’re doing yourself a disservice. It’s rare to find a spot where vibe, service, and flavor all show up at 100%. We’ll be back—and next time, we’re bringing more friends.
Five stars. Easy.
