I ordered coke and waited around 30 min for food, if not more. The service of the bar was not friendly. I had a mosquito in my glass and the bartender offered me just another glass, or pay for another drink. Like I put this bug in my glass by myself. That’s just so crazy, I’m in your bar and my drink is ruined by most probably anti-sanitary, and I have to pay for another one again and hope there is no mosquitos in it. 👎👎 and usually I don’t mind that, but I’m eating near those mosquitos 🦟. Bon appetite to people who sits near to the bar 🥰 (Update) Dear Bastian, Let’s be honest the main issue wasn’t about replacing the Coke. It was about the flies and mosquitoes constantly flying around the bar 🪰. That’s not what I would expect from a place that claims to “place great importance on cleanliness.” Also, I did not photograph your staff personally. I took a picture of the bar interior, which is perfectly legal. Your employee happened to be in the background, nothing more. It’s not as if the photo was used for any commercial or defamatory purpose. I love a good pub and the John Barleycorn did not disappoint! The place feels really authentic. When you walk through the door, the traditional bar stand welcomes you. However, this place also offers a larger dining area, private room and outdoor seating in the back. They have a large selection of beer and whiskey as well as a variety of other beverages in case that's not your thing. JB offers a small menu and I enjoyed my Shepherd's Pie. It was so good that I'm thinking about going again. The lamb and vegetables in brown gravy topped with mashed potatoes was fantastic. My friend had the Bangers & Mash which was also very tasty. They also offer fish and chips as well as burgers so there's something for everyone. I believe they offer a pub quiz (I think Mondays) but I didn't stay long enough to join. Anyhow, I'm always looking for something a little different when it comes to cuisine. I love this place. It's a quick 5 minute walk from the Stadthaus tram stop in the Altstadt. You should treat yourself!

Awesome place to be! I really appreciate the welcoming staff. I am there regularly to play some card games with a big group, which is not self-evident and I am truly grateful for the opportunity! For me one of the biggest advantages is the warmth towards LGBTQ* community. The drinks are good, the food was delicious and has good portions, for a fair price. I can't recommend the place enough for a great evening. Thank you for everything🙏🏻 Yuna

Cool bar, busy, friendly staff even if a bit overwhelmed. Missing life music

Draught Guinness, my favourite, served very well. Thank you. There were four of us for an evening meal we tried previously but they were stacked out the wait made it even better. A great pub with proper beer and proper Pub food I had the Irish sausages which were delicious, we all enjoyed our meals. The service was very attentive but not overly which is great. Thank you for a great evening. We loved it. Oh probably a good idea to book rather than be disappointed.

For being a bar, the food is surprisingly good. Even better, the service is friendly and attentive. Early in the evening, it’s great for kids because it’s not busy and there is a big darts area where they can run around.

Fabie and Bastie are friendly bartender's. The hamburgers are really good, like we get in America. Thank you very much for the great experience.
