John Bell & Croyden

I had wonderful service at John Bell and Croyden from a lovely lady Rubina and I think she is one of the managers. She was incredibly polite, and helpful. I normally feel a bit hounded by skincare consultants in there, but she was completely different. She asked all the right questions rather than pushing a brand. Real skincare expertise. Her approach made my visit so much more enjoyable. A real credit to the store

I use this pharmacy regularly - my medication is always in stock compared to other places, and the majority of pharmacy/prescription area staff are so kind. Staff in the left hand side of the store (vitamin, mobility aid, etc) are also super friendly and helpful, especially the young ladies in the vitamin area! HOWEVER on the right hand side of the store is a whole other story. I go in looking for one item, and i have members of staff hound me to buy £800+ of products, I assume from the brands they are ambassadors for. It's incredibly intimidating when you know what you want and from which brand, and staff are relentlessly telling you that your skin needs way more, its actually insulting. I then have had another lady be incredibly rude to me, after I apologised for not buying anything she'd hounded me with, she said "its fine we arent busy today, but dont do this on a busy day"... she was the one that wouldnt leave me alone to buy my moisturiser! Very clearly the staff target anyone wearing a nice bag, expensive clothing etc as I see this happen to others. The majority of us just want to shop in peace - we will ask for help if we need it, but after saying "its okay I'll try something else" I dont expect to be followed around the department being told I need £500 face cream. Awful shame that the right hand side of the store ruins the general experience. Glad theres a door that avoids the area completely. PLEASE teach your staff some manners.

Poor shopping experience. The supplement section has many wrongly priced items. You only find out the correct price once you go to the till. Customer service don’t seem bothered about these mistakes just shrugged their shoulders. This product is labelled for £19 pounds but was told it’s £45 when I went to pay at the till.

Really beautiful and had a great range of products but the sales associates are incredibly aggressive. In less than five minutes of being in the store, we were approached by four different people who all pushed hard and did not pick up the “ok thank you we will let you know if we need anything” it was really overwhelming and unpleasant because we had to feign politeness. I work retail, good salespeople know when to leave the customers alone. I say this in the spirit of improvement and feedback. All the people were polite and friendly, but way too pushy and we regretted going in.

5 stars for space and range of products. But I bought an INDI mixer (electric frother) that never worked properly. It works for 2-5 seconds and then stops immediately, even when it’s fully charged. I also noticed some of their non-tester products are open.

Good place to buy medicine & cosmetics. Only giving low rating as they don't have consistent customer service level. Some staff members are good have a nice attitude and very helpful. Some are cold like the Siberian winters and see you as a burden that is using up their precious resources and time!!!!

Unacceptable Service and False Advertising My approx 1pm visit today was appalling. It was nearly impossible to find staff willing to help; the lack of visible name badges made identifying who actually worked there when walking the shop floor extremely difficult. I eventually had to interrupt a conversation between two employees, one of whom was Manager ‘Maria S’, who seemed more interested in chatting than assisting customers. The main issue occurred at checkout with the other lady who had been chatting with Maria (who did not wear a name badge). She tried to overcharge me. When I alerted her to the correct shelf price, she was completely unsurprised and flatly refused to verify the price or call a manager, insisting I find Maria myself. She was rude and unhelpful, and eventually told me to move so she could serve others. When I asked her name, she refused, claiming I was 'picking on her.' Frankly, the cashier is clearly not equipped to handle customer issues or engage in basic problem-solving. I finally tracked down Maria after waiting for her to finish with another customer. When she processed the correction, she was shockingly unconcerned, stating that pricing errors 'always happen' because 'the stickers are wrong' due to brands not informing the store of price changes. The store's acceptance of this blatant false advertising is completely unacceptable. After years of shopping here, I will not return.

Been coming here for almost a decade, mainly due to an external GP service located within the store. It's got a well-stocked pharmacy that always has the stock for my prescription needs. It is a "premium" pharmacy and they do have greater quality items, prices even for lip balm (£29!) are perhaps a bit too premium for some items; however, at times the service can be slow even when there's no one waiting. What I do like about the store over the years is that they've tried to innovate and bring new products and services, e.g. health tech or GP services, into the store.

Poor poor customers service skills no manners or etiquette from shop floor assistants to management. In an area busy and amongst professionals this place is a significant lack of class. Extremely disappointing and is definitely not recommended from health professionals within the local area.

This pharmacy is like walking into a dream world of medications, perfumes, products products products. My favourite. Quite refreshing to go somewhere different to boots ! It's kind of like Harrods but in pharmacy world. I bought my regular essentials (toothpaste etc) but all the other stuff is amazing too. Recommended this to nyone.

This place is so much more fun than Boots! I had never heard of this pharmacy before, but the other night, I was walking along Wigmore Street and in need of ear plugs and found this place. If you are used to the ever so cheap feel of say, Superdrug, you should come here. It feels so high end, if that is possible for a pharmacy. While it does everything that you will find in a Boots it has so much else going for it. First, it has classical music piped in while you shop. There is a full range of health products, such as aromatherapy, and vitamins, as well as fitness products that I only ever see on shopping channels. Towards the back of the shop were all the mobility products and surgical aides. I don't normally loiter in pharmacies but I could have spent hours here. I got my earplugs by the way.

It's worth visiting every now and then to find new interesting products. Prices can be a bit high but it's kind of expected given the location.

This used to be a pharmacy where you stepped back in time. Glorious swansdown powder puffs in pastel shades from Paris. Nail buffing powder, cosmetics,creams, potions and badger hair toothbrushes. Now all has changed. The powder puffs are banished in favour of anti ageing gunk. The cosmetics are no longer there and a large area of the shop is devoted to hideous sports clothes. Fortunately we obtained the badger hair toothbrushes and left without spending any more money. Miserable experience, somewhat typical of the Oxford Street area.

The shop itself is very good, but the customer service is terrible. You often have to wait 10 minutes to get served at the till, when there are other members of staff doing nothing. I decided to use the mail order service instead. Two and a half weeks later I'm still waiting for items that were 'in stock'. I've called and nobody answers the phone, ever. I've tweeted and had a reply three days afterwards, however unhelpful. You also can't get a reply via email unless you wait a couple of days. Anyway, my parcel was delivered to the wrong address twice and they don't give you tracking either. After all this, I'm still waiting, and am none the wiser what is happening with my order.

Beautiful space and filled with staff that are ready to help in any way they can. Aside from prescriptions, they stock some amazing skincare ranges! Bioderma, La Roche Pousay, and Skinceudicals! Anything purchased here is stylish and of top quality. John Bell and Croyden might be a simple pharmacy but they do pharmacy better than anyone else!

Perhaps the nicest pharmacy in London, if not the world. I agree with the other Yelpers, John Bell & Croyden seems to be too posh, too sophisticated, too decadent to be real. What kind of pharmacy has plush carpeting and wood panelling and classical music piped in? Yes, John Bell & Croyden is the kind of place that makes you feel like you need to wear a suit to buy a tube of toothpaste. Nevertheless even in my shabby attire of jeans and a simple t-shirt, I found the service to be quite friendly and helpful and I found quite a few products that I couldn't find at Boots. Indeed, there is a wide range of personal grooming appliances (electric toothbrushes etc), a whole section of just plasters, and a few endless isles of grooming products from around the world. The best news...I didn't notice the prices to be much (if) higher than any of the high street chemist chains. Who subsidises the plush carpeting will remain forever a mystery. Yes, 5 stars for a pharmacy seems rather absurd, but if you get a chance to visit you'd easily agree this is the most luxurious pharmacy in London.

I love this shop! It sells loads of high end toiletries and has a large section of disability aids and equipment, and a disturbing array of surgical instruments, (a must for the serial killer wannabe!) But the standout reason I love this shop is the game play; Spot the celebs in disguise! I have seen sooo many.

I love this store, you can buy anything from lip salve to surgical equipment, wheelchairs. Has a pharmacy so you can collect your prescriptions. Stocks lots of cosmetics, brands (Clarins, Crabtree and Evelyn), and rather bizarrely my dogs anti-flea treatment! You can pick up some unusual gifts here.

I love this store every time I visit London,I always go for shopping at John Bell and Croyden near St. Christopher's place and Oxford street market.Excellent service and low prices when compare prices with Athens and Greece . extremely rude staff i tried to check the store out on a Sunday. the security woman at the door was extremely rude and told me " i need to close the door, leave". when i politely asked her name and why she is shouting and being rude she replied "i dont care" avoid this place like you would avoid the plague

I sprained my wrist and was looking all over London for a wrist splint and was having trouble finding a size small wrist splint -- John Bell & Croydon had 4 types of wrist splints and every sort of physiotherapy equipment you could need. The store is pleasant and has a variety of beauty, health and exercise equipment and many items were offered at relatively reasonable prices!

The best chemist in London without a doubt. An aladins cave of all sorts of bits and pieces.

All of a sudden I've become allergic to deodorants and have to wear a talcum free mentholated powder under my arms that was prescribed by a dermatologist. Since I was running out of this powder deodorant and was in London, for a couple of days, I decided to take the almost empty container to John Bell to see if they could concoct something similar in a short time. To my surprise, the lady at the counter looked at the formula (in Portuguese) on the label, walked across the vast room and came back with a huge pot of the exact medicated body powder that cost 1/3 of what I used to pay for. Please, don't ever mess around with your establishment to make it look cynical. It is an Oasis for people that need something uncommon at stunning low price.

This is a brilliant chemists, the Queens chemists no doubt. Along with the usual chemist products, there is a large section of colognes that cannot be easily found elsewhere, a large department specialising in disability-orientated products for every problem, and a large alternative medicine section. The entire shop is wheelchair-friendly, and has very friendly staff, who know more than your average chemists.

Please avoid this Pharmacy I went into see the Hair Trichologist Vanessa Bailey her attitude and behaviour was rude and arrogant. Vanessa Bailey had no interest my hair problem and I would advise everyone to avoid the hair clinic at all costs. I even heard her swearing just before I arrived into the clinic..!!

This is a really nice place. I went there for some supplements and they are helpful with excellent with customer service. The decor is also quite unique. It's not like a conventional boots its more boutique. It is a big pharmacy and you can spend quite some time in their- I did and so I truly enjoyed my time. Purchased vitamins and was happy overall.
