"It doesn’t look like they do much baking at John Forrest Master Baker anymore, as almost everything seems like it’s been made somewhere else. But the place still draws a steady crowd of cabbies, scaffolders and retail workers. Why? Maybe it’s because it’s the only place on the Kings Road that sells inexpensive lunch food and tea in polystyrene cups. John Forrest is newsagent-like, with packaged samosas and Shin Cup noodles sold alongside its ham sandwiches, which are made in the morning and left out. But it does occupy a charming bakery shell, packed with baker figurines and ageing wall tiles. Visit early, when the rolls are fresher and The World’s End Estate catches the morning light." - Isaac Rangaswami
This place does some real good food and desserts/ pastries, I bought a cinnamon twist and believe me it was nice, big and flavours just right for only £2.50 at first I thought it was going to be around £5 for the size which I’m glad it was sent the case!
I had a chicken and mushroom bake from
Here too and it’s worth the buy too🙌 I recommend both of these and ask to get it heated up abit too so it’s just right for your needs

Such an incredible bakery. What a gem. No frills lovely classic spot. Seems family run, everything from cakes to pies are baked fresh in the back. Best tuna roll ever, best cheese toasties ever, and the chocolate cornflake cupcake was so good. Lived in the borough my whole life but only discovered this place a few weeks ago. Can't wait to try more.

Food is ok but the customer service is really bad, the guy doesn’t know how to speak to customers.

I fancied supporting a local business rather than going to a mainstream chain. I regretted it.
The coffee was latte and at 2.40, I felt like I was robbed. It didn’t taste like coffee and it was incredibly bland/flavourless.
Honestly, disappointing. 0/10.

Dont let the unbelievably cheap, inflation-beating prices fool you, the selection and quality of food in this bakery is awesome! Very satisfied customer, happy to be working nearby for a few weeks. Will be visiting daily for lunch

A tuna mayo roll should definitely not be 80% mayo, nor should a chicken roll have multiple lumps of gristle throughout. Will not be returning. Waste of money.
