"Serge Normant is one of the most talented stylists on the planet, and while it’s possible to get an appointment with him here, his co-workers are no slouches. If they’re not already booked on magazine photoshoots or fashion shows, they’re here giving outstanding cuts, color, extensions, and (formaldehyde-free) keratin and frizz-taming treatments. The spaces—there’s also a Chelsea location—are gorgeous, with details like glittery chandeliers, plush love seats, and atmospheric potted plants punctuating breezy, loft-like interiors.  "

Yelp
i used to go to the John Frieda salon, i went there for ten years. i cannot recommend it. i was with the same woman there for all that time, Elba. i went for my hair straightening but she also cut and styled my hair. it is the snootiest place in NYC. the prices are outrageous. at the time, i tipped this woman $50 for straightening and never got a thank you. one time, after my straightening, i was getting it cut by her, as always. without asking me, she cut my shoulder length hair up above my ears. almost like a crew cut on a guy. also, in my 10 years there, not even once did the 3 women at the front desk recognize me or even say hello. just do not go. it is bad. very bad.

Yelp
This was by far the best cut and color I have ever gotten. Here's the catch...it cost me over $600!!! I had no idea that it was going to be this expensive. The place was very upper eastside "Ladies who lunch". They have a loyal following of wealthy wives. The cut was $250 and the double process coloring was $400...not including tips!!

Yelp
This high-end salon for the rich features Sharon-Dorram Krause as their colorist. Her many seasonal Hermes Birkam bags match her outrageous prices for highlights. She guards her formulas so if need yours when traveling forget it. She has two snooty assistants who also do hair but if your formula needs changing, you guessed it, Sharon has to do it because they are mere assistants. Make sure you keep tipping them twenties or you will quickly get the message by having a very bad hair day!

Yelp
Had my hair relaxed and it was amazing! My hair has never been so frizz free, soft and manageable. Went back to get the treatment done again, and they let an assistant put the products in my hair. Instead of mixing the two chemicals together then applying to my scalp the assistant just put it all in my hair. Making my scalp burn and loosing a good percent of my hair. As the girl was mixing the chemicals in my hair the actual stylist came over washed it out and started again. I mentioned it was burning but they reassure me that it would be alright. After leaving the salon I felt that i had missing hair which everyone said I was fine. Two months later when I had a bunch of hair growing back all of my scalp I knew it was the procedure. The treatment was 550 dollars and now I spend an arm and a leg on extensions. Would not recommend they are careless and only care about the cost of the procedure and not what is right for your hair.

Yelp
As far as I am concerned, the up-town salon is not a classy salon and its management does not treat its good clients well at all.
