On the Grid : Georgetown Cupcakes

"Despite having a hit series on TLC, these cupcakes are amazing and well worth the line of tourists that frequently snakes out the door and down the sidewalk. Georgetown Cupcakes boasts 100 different flavors with rotating daily, monthly, and seasonal specials, along with the perennial flavors. They even have gluten-free and vegan options that are surprisingly indistinguishable from the regular cupcakes." - Amalgam

I’ve been a fan since the before the Boston opening but very sad my oldest shirt is wearing out. If you can’t handle the store not selling cupcakes, you don’t deserve to rep the brand. Go back to your kale forest.

Google
Great concept and incredibly helpful employees. We were looking for a shirt on the website and they were able to find us one. Loved the stickers and artwork and beyond ecstatic to find they still had the Weezer box for purchase. I didn’t buy as much as I wanted because I have limited space in my suitcase. Love from Ohio 🥰

Google
Amazing Concept I personally thought of it as a cupcake place, but it was an amazing design zone. Great pins to buy, I thought other apparel were a bit expensive. But good one time buy. Go to see the store and the order delivery experience. Specially backed for you!

Finally got to visit the new store! Was greeted by every person working that evening. I grabbed myself some new pins, stickers, and a lanyard. The new shop has a lot more room but still the same fun vibe. I got a kick out of seeing the oven open with steam coming out as my box of goodies came out 'freshly baked'.

Google
Amazing store!!!! Incredible selection. Funky, electic vibe. Super cool, helpful staff. Always greeted with a fist bump, "nice to see you again" and/or "Welcome to Johnny Cupcakes". Always a great experience and super tasty. Owner is an amazing human. I've proudly sported JC threads for years and it has been so cool to turn my son on to JC. My 18 year old son thinks I'm cool because I bring him to Johnny Cupcakes and tell him stories about knowing Johnny when he was the coolest dude at Newbury Comics.

I had read before hand that this was a t-shirt place not a bakery so I wasn't shocked but people walking inside while I was there were very confused lmao. Even though we didn't buy anything there were really cool and unique designs for shirts/cards/stickers etc. Absolutely loved the design of the store, very unique!

At first I was disappointed that this cool place doesn't sell actual 🧁. The decor was so cool. Great place to stubble upon and take pics. The Merch they sell looks like it is made of great material. I will definitely be returning .

Google
Got to the new shop last month and it did not disappoint! I’ve been a fan of JC for a loooooong time, so it was definitely a priority to see the new space. Lots of fun for everyone!

Yelp
Smells like vanilla farts....... freshly tooted clouds! Would go again!!! Johnny is the man!

Yelp
" No Darn Cupcakes it's not even a Bakery " Typical story I walked in to get a cupcake on Newbury Street. Only they don't sell cupcakes or even pastries . Now if you can swallow that pill ! It's a cool shop that's weird . Tee shirts and memorabilia are fun ! If you want to spend $35.00 for a tee shirt this is a fun place to do it at ! The service is good . The guy working was answering our questions. He seemed cool . It's a fun cool and liberal vibe . Parking is definitely hard it's Newbury street . However have fun here if you can make it in !

Yelp
Okay.... I totally walked in expecting to buy a cupcake not a T-Shirt. This place was so cool and a novelty to visit in Boston. I ended up getting a T-Shirt and they wrap it up and deliver it through their "ovens". It was very entertaining and they even did it a second time when we announced we "should've been recording." 10/10 would shop again.

Yelp
This is the original flagship shop of Johnny Cupcakes. It was so cool to be able to go there!

Yelp
I've probably been aware of Johnny Cupcakes and got my first shirt 15 ish years ago. This is pretty with it for someone who lives in Missouri. I've had plenty of t-shirts since including my prized Hello Kitty collaboration shirt in a drawer. Of course when I was walking Back Bay with some friends on a Saturday morning I wanted to see the store. It's really cute! Love the faux oven door to get in and the overall vibe. There were four of us and we all left with shirts. Of course I could have ordered online but there's something about seeing it in person. I'll be back and if not I'll be stalking your website.

Yelp
This is a super fun brand that features clothing, accessories, greeting cards, and stickers with their signature cupcake and crossbones design in their "fakery" on Newbury Street in Boston. As you can tell by the pictures, the shop looks like a bakery, complete with display cases and ovens. You must make a stop by this flagship location the next time you are in Boston just to check it out and experience the magic inside. The founder/owner/creator of the brand has worked deliberately to bring something special to his customers, all while being on the right side of human rights issues. He's used his platform to promote equality and peace in his own special way and has donated some of the proceeds to various organizations that are committed to supporting others. I've been a loyal customer for nearly two decades and find their clothing both comfortable and fun. I enjoy the compliments and comments I get from people when I'm wearing something from the brand and love telling other people about it. My best piece of advice is that when you see a design that you like or find interesting, snatch it up quick before it sells out or disappears from inventory. There's always something new coming out and once an item enters "the vault" it can be nearly impossible to find it in your size. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list so you don't miss out on new releases, events, or sales.

Yelp
Have been a fan of Johnny cupcakes since 2007 so when I finally got to visit Boston a visit to his shop was a must! Theming a clothing brand around baked goods...BRILLIANT! Shirts are only made in small batches which makes them limited so you'll be the cool kid on the block and not everyone is wearing the same thing. But when you're in public and see another JC shirt it's an instant friendship. This guy has made a world of his own and his fans are here for it. The shirts are displayed in cases where you'd normally find your yummy baked goods and the theming is on the level of something you'd find at disney. He definitely makes it more of an experience. So glad I went to visit I wasn't let down! Can't wait to visit again and smell the store again. If you know you know! :)

Yelp
Quick and friendly service!!! Erin was great!!! In and out like a fast food restaurant!!!! I'd return forsure!

Yelp
Johnny Cupcakes - Boston, MA on Newbury St. 2-18-23 I've been meaning to visit this place since I heard about it on TikTok. AND the man himself was in store too, what a nice surprise. Anyway, right before you come in, there's some nice signage and a HUGE oven as the entrance to go in/out of (very unique). Coming in, there's so much stuff that I can't even decide on what I want. There's shirts, pins, stickers, greeting cards, notebooks, prints, etc. so if you're looking for variety, there ya go. And when you get a shirt, it comes out of one of the many little ovens up on the wall and packaged up in this cool to go box kinda thing. I wish I got more photos and video but I didn't want to be too annoying. Now, some of their apparel is on the pricier side BUT it has a lot of buzz and Johnny's has been in business for 20 years if I'm not mistaken? So you know people are willing to pay good money for something unique. This place is themed which I'm in LOVE with! And it smells super good in there. Another thing, I have two other posts on here with his little mantra and a bit about Johnny/his story which I'm also in love with too. Feels very personable and this owner puts his time and money into the business. I would definitely come back & buy something the next time around with my piggy bank $$$

Yelp
I mostly get my Johnny Cupcakes goods online due to the availability of sizes but the in store experience is a must if you are a fan of the brand. You do feel like a little kid entering a bakery as the layout and interior design is themed as such. The quality of the apparel justify the price. Honestly, the T-shirts that I buy, I don't mind the price as all since they all survived weekly washes and still hold up. Here's a tip, discounts are available during holiday season, up to 30% off. I usually wait for the Christmas sales to purchase gifts for my family and sometimes for myself. The sweatshirt and hoodies make great gifts as do the limited edition t-shirts. The only problem with waiting for the sale is you might miss out on a limited edition piece. I also find their t-shirts to be very cleverly designed and the collaboration with others brands like Sanrio (Hello Kitty, Keroppi, etc.) make the pieces one of a kind. One of my all time favorite catch phrase has to be their "Make Cupcakes, Not War." There's also "Do more of what makes you happy" and then there is the "Cake Dealer." All very clever. Check out their website also if you cannot find your size in store.

Yelp
Super quick stop as there was very little merchandise in this store. Definitely a cute theme for a shop though

Yelp
Our family was visit from LA and my son is a big fan of the brand so we had to go visit the location. He was super excited about it to go see the actual store. Looks like you can buy cupcakes but definitely can't! Very trendy, it's pleasing to the eye, I couldn't but want to buy cupcakes, I wish they sold actual cupcakes instead of leaving a customer wanting cupcakes. I love the inside, the merchandise is inside baking ovens are refrigerators. So many options to buy a lot of cool stuff. My boyfriend got a cook T-Shirt that glows in the dark and my son got a hoodie which he loves and wears everywhere. We can't wait to visit again and do some more shopping next year. They are pricey but it's not something we can find in West Coast unless we order online.

Mike G.

Yelp
It's pretty amusing how many reviews from 15 years ago there are on here, ranting about how it's a fad that won't last...guess they were wrong? The new Johnny Cupcakes store is incredibly creative and fun, with all sorts of little touches to extend the theme. Even if graphic Ts aren't your thing, it's worth checking out just for the ambiance. And if you do like graphic Ts and such, theirs are really well made and clever. No wonder it's still around all these years later.

Yelp
I'm going to start my review with this is not a place to buy cupcakes!! We thought it was the first time we came here! They sell unique clothing items, stickers, and other items. It's a really cool place to look around. Items are a little pricey - I saw a rain jacket that I liked but I saw the price tag - $100. Everything is one of a kind and it's definitely worth a stop if you're near Newbury Street.

Yelp
One of my favorite stops in my quick tour of Boston. I love the bakery store concept and design which was executed so well. Got an Air Johnny tee which was perfect for my Jordan 1 collection. Instead of a shopping bag you get a bakery box which is such a nice touch. Staff was friendly and helpful which added to the experience. I would highly recommend stopping by and checking it out for an unique retail experience and a fresh baked tee or sticker.

Dan R.

Yelp
Marketing genius. Trendy shirts. Aw somas set up and friendly staff. Smells alike cupcakes even if the shirts don't taste like them.

Yelp
A T-shirt shop that's sweet as cake....cupcakes that is! Amazing shirts, great quality with unique designs. Always something fun to see (and smell) here at the JC flagship store! A must-visit when near Newbury St!

Yelp
Great shop! Got an in-store exclusive tee and enjoyed the atmosphere. Easily one of the best! I rock it all the time and it always gets compliments! Keep it up Johnny!!

Yelp
My favorite little t-shirt place in Boston, the decor has become even more phenomenal with age. I returned this week, although, it has been nearly 3 years since my previous visit. If you love Fresh ideas & cool concepts go visit Johnny Cupcake. The T-shirts & sweatshirts are cool. They have collaborations pieces as well. The store design is just super cool you, walk into an oven. The price point for the quality is totally worth it. A t-shirt may run you about $35, a sweatshirt about $60, zip up about $110. There are other small merchandise items such as hats, stickers, keychains, buttons. The packaging is awesome, you get your items in a donut box with their logo. We picked up another t-shirt on this trip. Go there!

Yelp
This place is AWESOME!!! Warning: this is NOT A BAKERY!!! If you want a bakery, "Georgetown Cupcakes" is down the street. (I want commission when you guys do a cross-promotion with Georgetown Cupcakes. Keep things fresh and local!!! ) Was definitely BLOWN AWAY by the pop-punk swag they've got here!!! Not just that, the atmosphere definitely looks like a retro bakery. They have Bakery Fridges displaying their high-end apparel, which is definitely something I found fun and different than your typical retailer. I definitely spent a pretty penny here, but they'll send you home with a handful of freebies. That included stickers, buttons, pins, and mints. I bought a hoodie, a youth shirt, and two baby outfits. Also, when I asked for some extra of that sweet cake&crossbones tissue paper, there was no hesitation of throwing me a few extra slabs. I also received a couple Johnny Cupcakes "munchkin-mini's" totes as well. I stumbled across a Boston Gem of a retail store!!! I'll definitely be telling my roadie crew to check this place out. I'll also be checking out their online shop when I get back to Chicago. Keep up the good work guys!!! There's only a handful of shops like this left in the US, so stay on your A game so I can come back when I come back to Boston again!!!
google avatar

Tal O.

Yelp
such a unique experience! you walk in and it smells devine! there's a wall of cool retro stoves, a HUGE mixing bowl and a cute diner style booth! you think you're walking into a bakery. but it's not! it's a cool designed clothing store! they sell hoodies, t-shirts, stickers and more! their designs are dope and hilarious! all the negative reviews are from hangry people who wanted a cupcake. sorry they tricked ya! the employees are chill. not overly friendly- they let you experience it for yourself. welcome to boston! great experience to stop by if ur walking down newbury
google avatar

Ryan F.

Yelp
This place is absurd. There are plenty of trendy shops dotting Newbury Street in Boston's Back Bay, but I definitely missed the memo that it was cool to shell out $35 for a t-shirt that comes "freshly baked" out of a commercial fridge. I would liken this to an upscale t-shirt store you'd get on the Jersey Shore boardwalk..."collectibles," they most certainly are not.
google avatar

Lou W.

Yelp
What a weird spot. Cool entry way into what you think will be a cupcake place but I'm no. It's a t-shirt place.
google avatar

Sabrina B.

Yelp
This is the original Johnny Cupcakes store. I've been to ever shop except this one. First LA. Then London. Then Boston. Boston is the only retail location that remains in business. Johnny Cupcakes has basically become an online retailer with a physical presence in only Boston. I was in dire search for one of the Boston exclusive tees. I was so sad when the Boston shop exclusive tee I had my heart set on was only available in a size that wasn't mine. I searched through a few options and found one I liked. Paying homage to the city without truly forcing me to represent the Red Sox or the Bruins which I would never be ok. While I struggled to find a Boston exclusive tee the wife found a few treats to take home. We also grabbed their new St. Patrick's Day tees before they officially released. The shop itself is super fun so even if you have no interest in purchasing something walk in just to experience it. There was only one employee working and he was friendly. He threw in a few buttons for us which was nice but not that generous since I spent almost $150. Nice gesture though. He also gave us some recommendations for lunch since I was trying to sort through lots of options. I hate that this is the only location left but love that many of the decor items made their way to the Boston location. A little piece of each place lives on. I hope to visit again and score more of the exclusive items. This was a great touristy bucket list item to check off my list!
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Yes, I am a Tourist Yes, I got all so excited when I saw "No Sugar! No Fat! No Carbs!" Yes, I thought I found that "cupcake" I been looking for... Ended up Johnny Cupcakes is just a Tshirt clothing store... I guess I can eat the Tshirts as they have no fat, carbs or sugar... I want my CUPCAKES!! I saw the lone staff tried not to laugh right in my face.....
google avatar

Tiffany N.

Yelp
I LOVE JOHNNY CUPCAKES. As we walked around Newbury St. I almost squealed when I saw the store. We walked in and were greeted by a small hallway... ...BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE. To your left there are super cute looking ovens that are the doors to the store. Oh. My God. So Aesthetically. Pleasing. I was initially drawn into the store because I saw in the window that they did a collaboration with Sanrio and I wanted to get some stuff for my nieces. There were two workers in there and both were extremely friendly and helpful while I battled back and forth between a onesie. I ended up leaving with a sweater and a t-shirt. To the guy who rang us up on 12/18/16 - you're like...the real MVP.
google avatar

Carolyn M.

Yelp
My guy and I had ventured to Newbury Street as one does when you're in Boston and we just happened upon Johnny Cupcakes. We didn't really plan to do anything in particular in Boston and just took everything as it came, so my guy was really excited that we found this place as it was actually a shop he wanted to go to. We walked up to the store and immediately entered a small lounge that looked like the front of an oven. I was a bit confused because there was no one there and no real marker of where to go next. I thought maybe the shop wasn't really opened. Then, on a small sticky note, my guy noticed, it showed where to open the door. We walked in to a hallway that gave a bit of history of the company and once we walked a bit further, the shop opened up and was set up as though all the t-shirts were in bakers coolers. Strange set up and everything that's out is what is available, so you just tell the clerk what shirt you might want and he goes in the back and grabs it in the size you want. I didn't notice if there were any dressing rooms, so come knowing your size or potentially buying a size that may or may not fit you. My guy had his eye on one shirt, but it was a mustard yellow and he felt that wasn't a colour he wanted to wear. Ha! He found another shirt he wanted and bought it. They're not the cheapest shirts at about $35 a pop, but they're pretty cool shirts and you get a badge thrown in the bag. I bought a shirt as well and we were offered a cute bakers box to put them in or a bag. Just for the memories, my guy got his in a box and bag and I just got one in a bag. The clerk was pretty meh- not friendly or outgoing but good enough to grab a shirt for us in the back. All in all this shop is pretty cool.
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
Awesome store! Been a fan for the last 10 years and this is my second time visiting this location (I am from the west coast). I love the design of their retail store and how it replicates a real bakery style layout. Tee shirt designs are always changing and limited edition so if you see something you like, make sure to pick it up!
google avatar

Mark G.

Yelp
Fun brand that uses cupcakes and bones as their logo. And as you may have noticed, this is not a bakery. They offer fun clothing items and a few other novelty items. I purchased a key chain and a t-shirt that has a fun look. They have a nice backstory which is how I came across them. Check them out in person or online if you're looking for a unique brand to wear.

Yelp
As someone who is very brand loyal and has loved Johnny Cupcakes since about 2003/2004 (when I would go to hardcore shows then later got a tattoo of the infamous cupcake & crossbones), I have wanted to visit the store in Boston since it became a thing. The marketing and images that go into this brand are amazing. The owner being a humble, good person also helps. He values customer feedback and quality which I also appreciate. I ventured to Newbury street and it was honestly everything I expected and better. The shop setup is so freaking cute and I loved being in there. I told myself that I would only buy one shirt and for it to be a Boston exclusive so I did and i'm obsessed. The two employees who were there that day were so sweet and helpful too! I was geeking out beyond all repair and overly chatty, but they were so nice. I got a few buttons as well, but just the one shirt. Such a great experience and I will come back next time i'm in Boston. Thank you so much again!

Yelp
I walked in.. was looking for cupcake.. WTF? I walked out.. 1 hour later, I went back.. I purchased for a cupcake T-shirt.. am I happy? YES, I am!!
google avatar

Peter D.

Yelp
Evidently we were not the first people to assume this was a cupcake shop. I personally don't even like cupcakes, and admittedly the fury of those I was with (when they realized the tease) was fun to observe. However, the mildly amusing gimmick doesn't really justify the minuscule selection of overpriced t-shirts and hoodies of middling quality. I feel like any purchases made at this spot are destined to go the way of No Fear t-shirts (tossed as soon as the person outgrows the fad) and not JNCOs (a timeless style that is still perfect for any occasion).
google avatar

Sean L.

Yelp
Johnny Cupcakes is a super trendy clothing store. Hip, hot, and not to be missed, Johnny use to be in a band and thought it would be fun to make a t-shirt with a cupcake on it. Well now that some time has passed Johnny has turned his fun idea into a killer clothing line that all the hip guys and gals are into. His clothes are popular with fashonistas world wide, but being that his idea originated here, this awesome store is THE place to be. After all, it's the only store you're likely to find Johnny Cupcakes himself working in with a (dorky but fun) apron hung from his neck. The layout of this store is creative and eye catching. The clothes are fresh and fun. The help is super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable of the Cupcakes products and history, and just plain fun to chat with. I love this place and will always stop in anytime I am walking by. PS. Did I mention if you buy a button... you get a free Cupcake? Yum!

Yelp
Prelude: In February of 2009, Cindy and I embarked on a 48-hour eating tour around the greater Boston area. I called it the Boston Masticare - a bad pun off the Italian transitive verb "to chew." Stop #9 You know what goes great with coffee? (See http://www.yelp.com/biz/espresso-royale-caffe-boston#hrid:D-W6edGd_WH03LJeTIpkCA) Cupcakes. You know who doesn't have real cupcakes? Johnny Cupcakes. What a tease. I knew those big promises of "0 Calories, Fat Free!" were too good to be true. If you don't sell cupcakes, then why all the refrigerators and aprons? Why must you lie to me like that? No, I don't want a tiny free cupcake with every purchase, I just want a mountain of sugar and chocolate frosting I can sink my teeth into. Sigh. Sometimes, there fat-free cupcakes are too good to be true. [Original Visit: February 14, 2009, 5:29 PM]

Yelp
I do not live in Boston, but every time I visit (every 3-6 months), I make it a point to come in here. They have the best quality and cutest t-shirts and apparel. They are inside what looks like a bakery, and it is funny to see people walk in looking for cupcakes. The inside is so cute and unique, and is just a fun experience to even walk into. Their shirts are in fridges and are given to you in pastry boxes when you check out. It is more than just going in and buying a shirt, it's about the experience.
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
Cute and unique concept that lasts about 30 seconds before you're bored with it. Do they pump freshly baked item smell into the store? They must. That's pretty odd too. I mean, you've got to be pretty dumb to think this is an actual bakery by the time you walk in and look around for a few brief moments. They sell a handful of trinkets and mostly t-shirts in bakery style looksie cases and baking racks. I've never purchased anything here even though the wifey always gets that puppy looking face when we go in here to look around. I can't bring myself to drop that much coin on cotton. I don't care if you're Armani or JohnnyCupcakes, convince me its worth it to be half covered by a tee on a cold November day. I guess I'm a cheapskate because I can't do it. The designs are punny but I could pretty much create the same thing with my own materials and $5. I hope people are buying and they stay open, I don't want them to close up shop or anything. There must be a market for these and I guess I'm just out of the demographic to understand it or just too poor and old school to care. Kudos to the old looking restaurant quality mixer right near the door, that's always my favorite thing to look at! Good luck Johnny Cupcakes, it's a cut throat market out there.

Yelp
Here'sssss Johnny!!! We still had time to kill before our dinner reservation at nearby Sonsie and needed to find shelter from the rain. A moment earlier, J had been reading up on the must-see spots on that section of Newbury Street and recognized Johnny Cupcakes. We eagerly walked up the steps, opened the heavy door, inhaled the scent of vanilla frosting, and...found no cupcakes. I don't mean they were sold out. This store simply does not sell cupcakes and is actually a clothing store!! Womp, womp. What a trick! (An illusion, Michael) Johnny Earle (nickname Johnny Cupcakes) created the store after several cupcake-themed t-shirts he had designed for his band became popular. Going along with the cupcake theme, his designs usually include iconic symbols that have been replaced with cupcakes and are often Boston-themed for Earle's hometown. All of his stores (the Newbury one is his second) are set to look like bakeries filled with antique mint green refrigerators, baking racks, vanilla air fresheners, and merchandise displayed in glass pastry cases. The staff members also wear white aprons! I have to admit I was thoroughly disappointed that I couldn't satisfy my sweet tooth, and I found most of the merchandise pricey (though there was a "bake sale" section of shirts that were about $25), but its playful concept and solid graphic designs are understandable reasons for a cult following. Likelihood of another visit: Now that I know not to expect baked goods, I may go to one of the other locations in MA, CA, or London one day. The one in Los Angeles apparently has fitting rooms that are shaped like ovens!
google avatar

Ann L.

Yelp
I really wanted a T-shirt from this Clothing store and since it's on Newbury St close to where we were staying I got one. No Cupcakes sold here people, just a clothing store. There's a size chart on the wall for both men & women. I don't think they have fitting rooms so know you're size before coming here. I got a Johnny Cupcakes T-shirt for $35 total! Tax included in the price. Return policy: all "bake sale" items & underwear sales are final, no returns accepted. Unwashed merchandise can be returned or exchanged within 14 days of purcahse w/ receipt. Returns after 14 days or without receipt will be issued a store credit. Defective merchandise may be exchanged & are subject to manager's approval. Note: All shirts are 100% cotton & often shrink. Please size accordingly. Credit cards taken.
google avatar

Lynn J.

Yelp
I just don't get it... what is the draw for this product? the t-shirts are limited editions, of sorts, but they're not going to go "up in value." THE DEAL: They *should* just sell cupcakes! I've only been in a few times, as a sort of social experiment. EVERY TIME, I wait for people to enter the empty store. If you stand in front, someone always walks by, talking and falsely assuming it's a bakery inside.
google avatar

Maybel T.

Yelp
Oh Johnny Cupcakes! I remember when i was so obsessed with this clothing line, i would always want to stop by and look at all the shirts and would always want to buy at least 2 each time. Now that ive grown out of it (not meaning i gotten too fat for the shirts) i still wonder how i could even buy just 1 shirt for $35?! They're just cotton tees! I still own all 16 of the shirts that i bought,(crazy, huh?-tell me about it) and ill wear them once in awhile, because they are comfortable, and they stand out in the crowd. Some of my shirts are too big now, but ill still keep them since i paid a handful of cash for just one cotton tee. The store is cool. Cleaver idea placing all the shirts in bakery-style cases, and the feel of it makes you look for actual cupcakes. The employees should be a little bit more friendlier to everyone who walks in, not just to the ones that actually look like they could wear the shirts. Oh, and they stopped wearing aprons. :/ Met Johnny himself a couple of times. First time was at an event during the summer. He is really nice, has exceptional ideas, and loves to take pictures. Much respect to Johnny!

Yelp
I'm not sure what you folks are talking about, this place has the best damn cupcakes this side of the Mississippi. The selection? Ridiculous. Too many flavors and cupcake sizes to name. Johnny is a genius for the movie, sports and Halloween themed cupcakes. (My personal favorite = Celtics Cupcake w/ the mint green frosting!) There is also quite a few vegan options too which made my lady very, very happy. Also the limited edition cupcakes attract quite the hungry crowd. One of the most important things that folks haven't really touched on is the staff. Friendly, knowledgeable and always very upbeat. Also I can't forget about the online ordering system. I've been ordering online for years and the cupcakes always arrive fresh and in some of the coolest, unique packaging ever! Ok...now I'm feenin' for some cupcakes.

Yelp
I'm still bitter about the embarrassment I felt a year ago when my girlfriend and I walked up those steps on Newburry Street with our howling, hungry stomachs hopping to satisfy our sweet tooths, only to be embarrassed by the fact that they have no damn cupcakes despite their names. Instead you can buy t-shirts there. Being a marketing major, I found it interesting though, I'll tell you that much. Their concept is clever but they are way too overpriced. Ridiculous and very gimmicky.

Yelp
I was disappointed. I thought this was going to be a cupcake place. I don't want to pay a lot of money for a tshirt with a cupcake logo on it. I want to eat a real cupcake. T shirts should not cost that much. Where is my cupcake?

Yelp
Having gained quite a bit of understanding and respect for Johnny Cupcakes, being part of the Halloween tshirts release craze and having been to the LA store, this was definitely a treat for me. There is a nice blurb on the wall to tell you about how Johnny Cupcakes came about as Boston is the original store. They have a lot of Boston themed clothing and items here, as well as some authentic mixers weighing over 1000 lbs! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and they had quite a selection of sale items which was nice since I got a few tshirts for $19 and $24! I love the Johnny Cupcake concept so I don't mind paying a premium. This is a cute visit but only if you are willing to be a bit spendy.

Yelp
I love this company. The designs are super creative and one of a kind. I had friends rocking these shirts in high school over ten years ago. Plus when Travie McCoy mentions you in a Gym Class Heroes song that's pretty much a life accomplishment. Besides the good vibes from Johnny, the shirts are high quality and last a long time. You're not going to find another brand like this.

Yelp
It may just be tourist trap, but I liked the layout of the store and the way they make it look like a bakery. I've been here a few times and wanted to take my bf there since he had never been, and likes to wear graphic tees. The concept and the marketing is good, but I was a little disappointed in the lack of selection for the merch. There were only about 6-8 mens designs to choose and even less for the women. Honestly for the size of the store I think they could afford to have more items and designs for sale. Maybe I caught them on an off week. Who knows.

Yelp
Best shop in the history of shops. No you can't stuff your face with cupcakes here but you can get the best shirts in all of history. Not only are they QUALITY items but it is addicting to collect them. And Johnny, this brilliant man, is as kind as they come!!! Go in. Check it out. Buy some cool items. Collect them. Give him a hug!!! Tell him Holly sent you!! Do be careful though because it IS addicting!!

Yelp
One of my favorite contemporary stores in all of Boston! Awesome atmosphere, excellent staff and the quality of their products is impeccable. I was greeted by a super friendly employee named Matt who really knew a lot about the products and the company and answered all my questions to a T. I came in looking for some clothing and he directed me to what I needed right away, and gave me some other suggestions for merchandise as well! The store was super clean, Matt, the employee helped me find exactly what I needed and I was really impressed with the customer service! 10/10 would recommend checking it out to anyone visiting/living in the New England Area!

Yelp
Every time I come to Boston I have to stop at this store. It has a very unique bakery theme even though it is a t-shirt store. Where I'm from there is nothing similar to it. The shirts are usually Boston related and tie in with the bakery/cupcakes theme. The shirt I purchased recently was $36 which I find a little expensive for a tshirt. The staff was very nice and even offered to put my shirt in a bakery box instead of a bag. They also dropped in a Red Sox baseball card which is a nice touch for a Sox fan.
