I love Johnny D's for a) music and b) brunch. Music--always new acts, always great shows, very affordable tickets/cover. They also are great to rent from, so when you are looking to book an act, check them out. They do all sorts of events as well, so keep an eye on the website to keep yourself up to date on what's going on. Brunch--jazz brunch! Mimosas in parrot glasses! All kinds of options, from gluten free to vegan and everything you could want meat/wheat wise. Honestly, everyone can eat here. I bring my vegan friends and they're happy. I bring my meat-eating boyfriend, he's happy. I always get an egg dish with the hash browns. Yummy yummy hash browns.

Went here yesterday for Sunday jazz brunch and had a blast - the service is super friendly, the food fresh and delicious (I had an omelet w/ some of the best fried potatoes I've EVER TASTED!) and the atmosphere bustling, but not overwhelmingly loud. The jazz was also lovely.

We went here for drinks and the live entertainment and we were definitely not let down. The inside is split into two pieces. On the right is the bar (which has a bit of a tight fit) and on the left is the stage and dance floor. The night we went there was a raggaeish rock band which was awesome. Everything is a little out of date and the beer selection is a little limited but the live music and energy definitely make up for it. There are bands there all the time and is a great change of pace activity to do on a weeknight or weekend. Plus, they have a live jazz music brunch every Sunday with bloody mary's and mimosas!

We go to Jonny D's for brunch just about every Saturday for an extended family brunch (Grand parents, kids and grand kids). Its just the right level of loud so you don't feel like the bad parents because your kids are being noisy, but not so loud that you can't talk to people at your table. Before 10:00 there is usually no problem seating a our group of 10. The specials are fantastic and rotating constantly, and the regular menus has plenty of options for picky kids who what things "regular". The wait staff is friendly and happy to accommodate a big table of kids. Really my only complain is that the "huevos rancheros" special should really be on the regular menu. I would order that every week.

I like Johnny Ds usually good music and an attentive bar. Sometimes the shows can be a bit more pricey than I'd like, but that's ok. The food can be hit or miss, but really its a really solid venue to see good shows. 3 stars for food 4 stars for music

The only thing "uptown" about this place is the attitude of the employees who work there. I drove over 100 miles to go see a nice double bill of 2 avant-garde Jazz groups. I arrived an hour before showtime to get a good seat and eat dinner. Despite the fact that the place was 90% empty, they sat me at in the worst seat in the venue, in a dark corner way off the side of the stage. I asked the server to be moved, and he REFUSED .Even though there were DOZENS of better seats available. This idiot actually thought that 20 parties of 4 were going to suddenly show up on a Wednesday night. Then I asked for a candle or a flashlight as it was too dark to read the menu. Again the server REFUSED to even consider my request. So now, I cant eat, I cant see the band without throwing my neck out of whack. What the hell was I there for? So I got a refund and left. I wont be back.

Jazz brunch is exactly what you want on a hangover-filled weekend morning. And oh does Johnny D's deliver. I always arrive before noon to ensure that there's no wait, and it's typically crowded but not packed earlier in the day. You sit at a table and are immediately greeted by the soothing sounds of a live jazz band playing onstage. It's just the right noise level so you can enjoy the music while still talking to your friends comfortably. I could stay here for hours. (Ok let's be real. I have stayed for hours, much to our waitress's dismay). What's the best way to calm a hangover? With more alcohol, obviously. And these guys have some awesome options. Hot alcoholic drinks are my go-to for instant comfort on a chilly morning, so I fell in love with one that combined coffee, chocolate, and Kahlua. In terms of foods, the regular menu boasts brunch staples like pancakes, blintzes, omelets, and eggs. I'm more complex than that, so for me the specials are the way to go. I've gotten the berry Challah french toast, which was very sweet and a large portion, and the egg scramble with caramelized onions and goat cheese, a truly winning combination when combined with a healthy dose of hot sauce. Each entree comes with the choice of a little bowl of grits or oatmeal as a brunch appetizer of sorts. I've tried both, and you should go oatmeal. As a Southern girl who knows her grits, these just don't have the proper consistency or flavor. And they serve them with a glob of butter on top which melts into a yellow pool over everything. No thanks. The oatmeal isn't the best I've ever had, but it's warm and comforting. I find it to be a great option since, when ordering a savory main dish, you can still get your sweet fix. Combining alcohol, coffee, sweet, and savory... that's what brunch is all about! Throw in some live jazz, and Johnny D's has got itself a regular bruncher.

Amazing. Best brunch ever. About 10 new brunch specials every weekend, has never disappointed. Great live jazz/bluesy music in the background, positive atmosphere.
