Johnny D's Waffles and Benedicts, Surfside Beach

This is my first time at this restaurant; I was on vacation. Upon entry the restaurant is spacious however it was very busy. I sat at the bar so I had a birds-eye view of everything. I received my food within SEVEN minutes from ordering … on this day I witnessed a well running machine where everyone communicated and each realized their role. The food was prepared to order and the red velvet waffle did not disappoint :-). Everyone wore the same uniform (black leggings/pants and black t-shirt) which was great to see and gave it a more professional appearance (well done here). Coffee was hot and you received a carafe instead of just a cup :-). I did not give the interior a five as it slightly dated and could be refreshed a bit however it was very clean and maintained during my time inside. Kennedy was my server and checked on me several times with a smile. WELL DONE Johnny D!!

Local breakfast spot while on vacation with high ratings why not try it right? 100%! Prices for certain things were a bit high but the egg platter was well priced at $11 and was typical breakfast which can’t complain about. The red velvet waffle was a must for any red velvet fan but $15 for one was crazy. There was nothing that blew my mind but I didn’t leave disappointed so I say it’s a win.

The place is clean and open spaced. Service is great, can't complain! And we didn't need to wait for a seat, which was awesome! The food tasted excellent as well! We greatly enjoyed the brisket benedict! ❤️ I would say that it is definitely a pricier place. However, you will also find meal options that are priced fair. I do not appreciate being charged a service fee. It's not fair for working people where one pays for the whole family. So if we were a party of five, we wouldn't be charged one, but a party of six IS charged a fee? How does that work? And we only ordered four meals as well. I understand that many restaurants have this policy. And I don't have anything personal against this restaurant! I'm just putting it out there.

The Jambalaya Omelet was excellent with spicy/savory flavor and plenty of cheese. The home fries were good being seasoned lightly and soft (if you like crispy potatoes you might want to request it). The waffle was very light and fluffy and slightly sweet which I recommend too. The atmosphere was a nice rumble of talking and not too bad even with full tables. The booth you can just step into which is great since I didn't have to scooch into it. Overall, I highly recommend coming here.

We stopped in for breakfast here twice, once on a Thursday and the second time on a Sunday, both around 10 o'clock. There was a wait line, but we were sat within 10 minutes each time. Service was good, the place was busy so some things weren't as perfect as they could have been but totally acceptable (silverware was not delivered when we were seated and we had to ask then wait for it). I feel like I could do something as simple as the waitress. First sat to quickly 42 tables or that the kitchen was backed up getting the silveware, washed and out of the kitchen. It absolutely did not impact our visit. The food was fabulous! We tried a variety of things.I had the omlet with avocado; we tried the grilled cinnamon bun, french toast, pancakes, bacon sausage, eggs, hash browns and all of it was cooked as ordered. All of the serving staff were so sweet and friendly. Bathrooms were clean.

Johnny D’s is a must for breakfast every time we visit Myrtle Beach. The menu has a wide range of options. The waffles…heavenly. The bacon chipotle skillet is packed with flavor. Go early to avoid the wait.

Olivia is the America'ssweetheart! She takes really good care of us. And she is so attractive-an absolute darling! Meanwhile, the food is always terrific, and the menu is HUMONGOUS! Everything is hot, fresh, and prepared correctly to order. The grounds are clean and well kept with outside seating complete with canvas umbrellas at each outdoor table. Inside, all the public areas are spacious, comfortable, and inviting. Bathrooms are clean. Parking lot has more than enough space with wheelchair accessibility and I love the autism awareness (see pictures)

The food was absolutely delicious. I sat at the counter and watched how the kitchen was run like a well oiled machine, I’ve never seen anything like it. I ordered the twisted waffle and a side of fried green tomatoes…. MY GOSH THE WAY MY TASTEBUDS SANG!!!! I will be back

Had a wonderful breakfast at Johnny D's today. This is a great spot for locals and visitors. The menu is full of different options and the food is prepared and presented well. Pricing is very reasonable for the quality of the food. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. Khylea P. was our server this morning and she did a fantastic job. Looking forward to our next visit.

Sweet baby Jesus!!!! First off the place is immaculate and service is top notch. It has a cute old time diner feel with warm greeting when you walk in. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and her recommendations were spot on! We tried a bit of everything as we are visiting from out of town and knew we couldn't just come back and try the other stuff. The red velvet waffle was crispy and fluffy, the biscuits were delicious and the gravy was best I had over multiple states, the omelettes were good, not great....but the pancakes so fluffy and light with a crispy edge mmmm. California Benedict was ok, but put that gravy on it and omg . Definitely recommend! We were driving to Charleston and had to stop on the way to walk it off so we didn't fall asleep

A bit of heaven in the morning! So glad we came across this spot as the food options and service are top notch. It's a clean and modern breakfast joint with a bit of beach flavor in the decor. I ordered the brisket tacos and here is my hack, order a side of scrambled eggs, hash and salsa so that you can turn them into breakfast tacos! They come with coleslaw so the contrast of the sweet slaw with the tangy and spicy salsa makes it a wonderful combo. The waffles looked and tasted just amazing and the omelette did not disappoint! Hotcake heaven with your choice of toppings makes this spot a great find and gem while visiting this region of South Carolina. You guys definitely have to try this out while in town!

If you are in the area, Johnny D's is an absolute must-visit. On my first visit, I ordered the Pork Belly Benedict, Brisket Skillet, and Red Velvet Waffle, and was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional quality and flavor of each dish. The experience was so outstanding that I returned the very next morning to enjoy the Pork Belly Benedict once again, along with the Irish Skillet. Every plate was prepared with remarkable attention to detail, delivering both rich flavor and perfect presentation. As an added delight, I ordered an iced coffee, which was, without question, the best I have ever had. I also appreciate that Chef Jaime is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America--my father is an alumnus as well--which further deepened my connection to the experience. Although I live far away, Johnny D's has left such a lasting impression that I will certainly make it a point to return whenever possible.

Read the reviews on here and had to try it! It definite didn't disappoint! I got the Western Omelette with the home fries! My wife got the two eggs and bacon! It was delicious probably the best western omelette I've had since I can remember! The home fries are perfection! The facility is clean and inviting! Nice parking as well! Definitely a come back and do it again next trip!

I was excited to try Johnny D's again. It's been a long time since we have been here. This place use to be a Denny's so it is large inside. The waitress came right away to get our drink order and to bring us water. Milk for me and orange juice for him. Time to place our order. He ordered the French toast - I ordered the bacon omelet. His French toast looked good but he said it was really tough. He had to cut it with a knife. My omelet was disappointing. I thought it was going to have strips of bacon in it. It looked like bacos in it. My grits were okay but the stand out was the toast. When we were done, we waited a long time for the waitress to bring the check. He actually got up to look for her. Would I come back here? No. There are too many places to go for breakfast.

This is a nice place to enjoy a relaxing brunch. We ordered Benedicts (crab cake and pork belly). They came with a side of grits, although you can get country potatoes for an additional price. The Benedicts were pretty good. I also enjoyed the grits. The staff was very friendly. I enjoy trying out new breakfast joints, and this is one of those that I'll recommend and will be coming back to.

What a fantastic place! The food was excellent and the service could not have been better! Vanessa took great care of us - we are not here for long, but we will visit again before we leave!

Food and service were both amazing. Came after the lunch rush at 1pm and it was really chill. I ordered the veggie skillet, pancakes, and French toast. I wish they were open for dinner because I'd be back tonight. Good place to bring a large group or your family.

We ate at Johnny D's twice this trip. It's always hot and fresh and great service. The restaurant is clean and they have a lot of specialty breakfasts. I've tried several of their specials and none disappoint. Today's choice was the classic Benedict. Always a winner. Their grits are pretty good as well. The place is always packed but they are very efficient and move folks in and out very well. It's worth the wait.

I was looking for a place to enjoy brunch/lunch and stumbled upon Johnny D's Waffles. There are several locations and we chose the Surfside one as we figured parking would be less challenging. The menu was very extensive. There's surely something for everyone. Dad had his Lemonade, Hubby had unsweet tea, and I had coffee. Dad was eyeing the 2 Eggs with corned beef hash. Sunny side up for his eggs. Hubby ordered the Twisted Chicken Waffle. I had a bite of the chicken and it was moist and juicy. Hubby said the waffle had bacon so I had to have a bite of that too. Yum! I got the Granola and Fruit Platter. Lots of fruit from cantaloupe, strawberries, and blueberries.The homemade yogurt was so good, I asked for another container. Love the story behind the restaurant and highly recommend a stop here. At the front is a mini gift shop and I bought some post cards.

Had a very tasty lunch a couple days ago. My waitress was Dawn. She is a very nice and happy person. I will be back for sure. Thanks again. Hard to find good food and happy people serving it to you.

First impressions: plenty of parking, super friendly staff all around, large menu that spans breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Lots of options to fit every appetite and palate. Nice, modern and CLEAN interior. Food was great. Service was friendly and fast. Good choice for a hearty breakfast, brunch, or lunch.

Q This spot was cool; the customer service was good. I dined with a party of 4 and were immediately seated. I ordered the basic breakfast platter which included 2 eggs, (looked like 1 egg), red velvet waffles ( there was an upcharge for that flavor) and turkey sausage (upcharge also because I don't eat pork). The food was okay, nothing to brag about. The waffles were decent; I was hoping for a richer red velvet flavor. The turkey sausage were pretty good and juicy. All together, my meal came out to $20. This  reminded me of an IHOP. Same vibe and food, just a different name.

First time at this spot, and it was soooo goood! Wife had the cinnamon roll raffle and loved it. I had the steak eggs Benedict and it was amazing. One of the few restaurants I've been to that didn't over cook the steak and the egg was poached perfectly. Coffee was also quite good. Service was quick and very friendly. Will definitely repeat.

We found Johnny D's on our trip last year, and it has become a staple for the days we venture out for breakfast. Great service-- shoutout to Jonathan! We will be back!

Excellent food. Their waffles are the best I've had. Pancakes not so much, but was still satisfying. Pork belly eggs Benedict were very tasty, but requested extra hollandaise. The workers are friendly and ambiance was that of an American diner.

Service was great and food was amazing. I got the steak and onion Benedict and the churro French toast and both were so worth it. It was a lot of food so I didn't get to finish but i definitely got my moneys worth! Definitely coming again.

First time trying Johnny D's. Very nice place, I had the Chicken and Waffles which was excellent. Service (Evette) was outstanding.

Great place for brunch! Veggie omelet - WARNING - that little chili pepper on the menu is NOT a typo like our server told me (even after checking with the kitchen, who told her there wasn't anything spicy)...the peppers include jalapeños. Fortunately, they made another one for me, without the jalapeños. It was delicious! So was the seafood omelet. It contained the perfect mix of shrimp and crab. The fried green tomatoes! Yum! The corned beef hash...double yum! The pork belly...disappointing...it had too much meat, if that makes sense. When you order pork belly, you expect fat, more fat than if you ordered bacon, right? The fat was missing. Myrtle Beach has a brunch spot on just about every corner...pick this one!

We ate at Johnny D's for the first time today. Waitress was very friendly and gave us time to study the menu. They have a lot of choices so it was hard to decide what to get. I had the French toast with bacon. The food came out quickly and was just as I had ordered it. The French toast was very good and my bacon was crispy just the way I like it. We will definitely be back to try other items on your menu.

Great brunch experience. The Benedict's were good, perfect poached eggs, the hollandaise and pork belly could have used a little more seasoning, the toasted English muffin is a tad hard. Cool decor. Our server Khylea is super friendly and attentive.

I went to Johnny D's expecting it to be just Li's the old Denny's that used to be there. Even though the place looks like the old Denny's the food wasn't. The food at Johnny D's was quality and delishious. Service was pretty good but felt a little rushed. There is also a location in the main drag of myrtle beach. I definetly recomend!

An absolute MUST TRY if you're in the area Where do I begin? Servers were friendly, knowledgeable of the menu - and the menu! Everything sounded good, I could hardly decide what I wanted. Finally came to a decision with the Crab & Shrimp Omelette, Jambalaya Omelette & Biscuits with Gravy. Delicious. All of it. Biscuit was a little hard, rough to break into bites with the fork, but the gravy made up for all the negatives of the biscuit. Crab & Shrimp omelette was my favorite of the two omelette (barely) - both were amazing.

We always go to Johnny D's in Myrtle but we had an appointment in Murrells so we decided to Johnny D's in Surfside. We really liked the inside. So different from Myrtle location. We ALWAYS have a great breakfast at Johnny D's. This was excellent except for one thing. I wanted my usual, cinnamon roll waffle but didn't order it because they don't have real maple syrup at this location!! So surprised and disappointed!! What I ordered was delicious but I so missed my waffle. Please, can you add real maple syrup to your Surfside location. Happy to pay the extra. Our server, can't remember her name, Mary? She was wonderful! That's another thing great about Johnny D's. All the servers are just so nice and friendly! It's a great place. The only reason I gave this location a 4(would have been 4.5 but only full stars available) was no maple syrup.

Food was excellent! Very large menu with a ton of items to choose from! I went with 5 of my family members and they all loved their food. Nice portions and very tasty!

Went here for our last day in the Myrtle Beach area before hitting the road. Was able to order off the $6 menu which is available before 8:30 am. Food was good for the value, most options on the $6 menu were about $2+ off the regular menu price. Menu had lots of options, hard to go wrong with breakfast food. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich, pretty basic. Service was friendly and quick. Good option if you want a quick breakfast at a good value.

There are only three of these restaurants in the Mrytle Beach area, but if you visit or vacation here do make sure you stop! They are only open for breakfast and brunch since they are only open until 2 p.m. The service is great, staff are really friendly and like their jobs, and the restaurant was clean. They also have a full bar, for those that feel it's 5 O'clock somewhere. The only thing I did not like here was the coffee, which was very bland.

The variety and quality of food was excellent. The service was prompt and the atmosphere quiet.

Johnny D's did not disappoint this morning! The food was amazing and so was the service! All our food came out hot and fresh and it was delicious! Megan C. was our server and she was great!!

we went for brunch, the food and service was good and there weren't many people in there. it was clean and looked taken care of. the only complaint i have is the incredibly high prices.

Great service. Food was really good and affordable. We stayed at Club Wyndam and it was very close and convenient. I ordered the waffle meal and everything was great. Loved they offer turkey sausage as an option.

We go to Johnny D's every year. Usually to N Myrtle location but this year we stayed in Surfside. We absolutely loved our experiences. Restaurant Iwas clean and inviting and food was as great as ever. Good service. Coffee and waffles were tops. Thanks Jamie and crew for another great year. We went 3x this week. I came to this restaurant while in town visiting family. Knowing my love of breakfast food, they said it would blow me away. It was jam packed on a Sunday morning, and we had a bit of a wait. Our server was super friendly and we settled in with the menu. Its like a book, there are so many options! The pancakes were out of this world, I loved that there are so many ways to customize the experience. Everything was really well enjoyed and came out super fast. I can see us coming here each time we are in the area, trying something new, and loving it every time!

What amazing place. Ate there 5 times, perfect every time. Staff is amazing, friendly and on top of their game.

Well worth it! Everything was delicious and nicely presented. The food was served hot and fast (considering the crowd). The waitstaff did I an amazing job. And, the dining room is kept clean and well managed. We're definitely gonna visit again.

Our server was Valerie. We found this restaurant here on Yelp. The food was fantastic. I ordered the Cinneroll Waffle and my child ordered the Red Velvet Waffle. They were divine. Our server was attentive and kept checking regularly on us, yet was not overly intrusive. A big bonus for us is the fact that the owner supports local Autism charities. She has a child with Autism and periodically has fundraisers at this restaurant. As a mother of two autistic children, this is something near and dear to my heart. Kudos to her. Overall, the food is on point and service is fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant.

One of our favorite breakfast spots. You can never go wrong here. They have so many choices and you can even request GF items. Our waitress the last few times has been Alynna (spelling) and she makes our visit that much better. She is so kind, courteous and always has a smile on her face. Definitely a spot to try when in MB
