Good locally know spot for bar pizza. Pick up or eat in. Smaller bar with a equal size dine in area. Service is good with nice and attentive waitresses. Can be busy at times. Got home pizza was awesome!

What a surprise this place is! Great, interesting food for fabulous prices. From the outside it looks like a bar, but inside you see that it's clean, doesn't smell like old smoke and spilled beer and has been thoughtfully decorated. Service was very good. The fried bacon Mac and cheese balls were good, had a nice texture. Stuffed quahogs were very very good, had an almost creamy texture to them. Usually stuffed quahogs just taste like Pepperidge Farm stuffing in a shell. Kickin' Crab soup was good, but the flavor could have been a little stronger. I must say, our entrees were wonderful! Broiled scallops and mashed potatoes. To die for. Tender scallops. Skin-on, homemade mashed potatoes. We will absolutely be back!

Google
Great dive bar with great food and a good atmosphere. The wait staff were fantastic and welcoming. A great place to grab some food and drinks and watch a game. Tons of flavors of wings, it was a shame I only got to try 2 of them. Fish tacos were flavorful and fresh and some of the best I've ever had. Can't wait to go back!

Google
Terrible service and attitude. Waited over an hour for just one appetizer we never got. Walked out because the waitress did not care when we asked where the food was and never even checked on it. Never got asked if we needed a drink refill or anything else in the meantime. She was more concerned about changing the TV channel and talking to regulars at another table. We've been here before and it was decent, I guess it's changed hands and not the same.

February, 2020 Johnny Kono's bills themself as a "Five Star Dive Bar." As you can see by my rating, I totally agree. This is my kind of place. There is absolutely zero pretense, a thorough menu with lots of great options, an ample choice of beers, and Donna, an amazing server. I've been there twice - once last week and once today. Donna remembered me, my name, where I sat, and what I had to eat and drink last week. Also, this afternoon, she called almost every single person by name and asked if they wanted their usual. The only exception was a couple who drove more than an hour from Cape Cod just to have lunch here. It was like Cheers, but more crowded. Also, they have a very loyal following. Almost everyone I saw there today I also saw when I was there last week and they all know Donna's schedule. She's awesome. Last week, I had the Mowie Wowie Burger with fries and today I had the Attack Burger with Tater Tots. Both were good and more than I could finish in one sitting - to that end, they do not hold back on portions. Both burgers were hard to fit in my mouth and today's burger had an ample amount of bacon. They also crank out the food, so you're not waiting long. And, for whatever reason, I love that the majority of the regulars were drinking Bud Light, Bud, or Coors, and playing Keno with an urgency as if it were the last day the game would ever be available. I'm definitely going back and getting the Bar Pizza because it looked incredible. If you're in the area, I'd encourage you to stop in and give it a try. Just be sure to use a GPS as the restaurant is in a fairly residential area and isn't the most intuitive place to find. When you go, I hope Donna is working - she's really great.

Came here on a Sunday night for a beer and dinner. Got two bar pies which were incredible. Definitely some of the best in the area. Unfortunately, service was awful. We sat at a table near the bar, which was apparently supposed to be covered by the bartender, but she never came to take our order or bring our check. I kept having to go up to the bar. Also, I ordered a Fiddlehead IPA, one of my favorites/regulars, and maybe that's my mistake for ordering that at a dive bar, but it was awful. Something funky/off about it, either dirty draft lines or a really old keg. If you do go here, stick to bottles!

Yelp
My wife and I and another couple enjoyed our time mainly because of our Server Meg. It was busy as we sat to eat but Meg made sure we were seated comfortably. Meg was very busy with many guest but she remained attentive to us and others. Meg was very pleasant and didn't seem overwhelmed. The pub style menu was as expected and very delicious especially our burgers. The servers behind the bar were also as pleasant. As a self proclaimed "Dive Bar" it was very welcoming. Even the bar crowd was gracious to open seats for us. We definitely will revisit Konos and hopefully Meg is available. Families were welcomed at Konos. Give it try. Thanks Meg!!

Yelp
Stopped in just after playing a round of golf nearby. Bar was hopping at noontime! We sat in the dining room. There seemed to be only one server who was also tending bar. I wished I'd gotten her name--she was amazingly doing it all! On her recommendation, I had the Turkey Gobbler sandwich with THE best onion rings. My friend had the cheeseburger sliders appetizer as a meal. We both loved the food! My turkey was real and the cranberry sauce homemade. Bar was vibrant--loud music and even louder patrons who'd maybe had too much liquid lunch, but the vibe is good and the food terrific.

DogsRule R.

Yelp
I don't get the hype. I see many people like this place. my arm stuck to the dirty bar, and the pizza tasted like cardboard, with canned sauce. maybe I was there on an off night,.... both times . bar tender was friendly, and quick....thats about it.

Hogger K.

Yelp
Based on the reviews I was stoked to try this place. What's better than a dive bar with great food? But the food wasn't great. The clam chowder was terrible. Watery, no flavor. The rest of the food was okay, but the burgers, potato skins, and pizza were average. There was nothing memorable about the taste that would make me dream of my next visit there. But the service was fantastic. The place has this wonderful small town vibe. I just wish the food was as good as the ambience.

Chandra F.

Yelp
If you're looking to try a new spot that looks like great dive bar food, atmosphere and beer, this is NOT the place to go. The waitress seemed like she's the only one covering the dining room on a Saturday night, so we waited patiently. For an hour. The table next to us ordered extra fries and apps after getting their food and it came right out. They said wow it was so fast!! The waitress told them "oh yeah we just took it from the next order that was already ready." We waited so long and didnt even get one appetizer. We left after a half assed "I'm sorry I'lll go check on it" from the waitress but she only went and talked to her regulars at another table. She obviously gave our order of apps to the table next to us. It's not that she was so busy she couldn't handle it. This place only caters to regulars and treats you like sh*t if you're not. Don't come here.

Yelp
This review grade is based on service food was very good. A road trip took us to the Scituate area. Looked for a local place to have lunch. The description of Johnny Konos was exactly what we were looking for...a place with a cool local vibe. Johnny Konos is like a surf shack...think Beachcomber but much smaller. The place was def full of local residents but wasn't uncomfortable. We ordered lunch. Food came out hot and delicious. We all ordered different. I had a special and a side of onion rings. Onion rings were thin and crispy and cooked to perfection. I didn't order a cocktail but they had some fun sounding drinks. Other orders were the Mother Clucker sandwich which had a huge breaded chicken breast, the long board burger, and the turkey sandwich. Great portions and all enjoyed their meals. Okay, the negative part was the waitress. I was willing to overlook some of her attitude but when it came to the check she angrily refused to split it up with several credit cards and in turn gave us separate checks. Not a big deal, more work for her. Then before we left we asked her to take a picture of our table because we had out of state family with us, one of whom is going through chemo (and very obviously). Her reply was a snarky "You're going to have to wait 5 minutes". You might think I am nit-picking, and I might be, but this was the 3rd time we got attitude from her. To sum it up I would give the food 4 stars and the service 2.

Kelly R.

Yelp
Pizza and all food is very good at Johnny Kono's. Small place that is always very welcoming. Service is good too.

Yelp
My fiancé and I moved to Weymouth a few months ago and one of the first places we went to eat was Johnny Kono's. At first, we were thrown off by how few tables there were, but once we settled in and the food started coming, it has become one of our favorite places to eat. The El Chapo wings are some of the best we've ever had, great spice and flavor with a some acidity to tie it all together. The burgers are incredible, even the Louis lunch burger, which although very simple, always is delicious. They really live up to their claim of being a "Five Star Dive Bar." We're excited to keep coming back and trying more menu items.

Adrian D.

Yelp
The food is very good the portions are very good try it out it's a fun little place. I will be back there seafood looks delicious.

Jonathan C.

Yelp
This place is a 5 star dive bar! It's not even that divey! Back in the day, Alumni cafe in Quincy was way dive-ier. I like Konos better than Poopsies. Plain cheese bar pie for $9.50! I crushed this entire pizza . Great stuff.

Thomas C.

Yelp
Small-ish dive bar in Weymouth with surprisingly good food! Solid pub fare. Definitely a local spot.

H S.

Yelp
I recommend it! Go for a drink and dinner and you won't regret it! If you like a dive bar with friendly locals, do it!

Rayshawnda G.

Yelp
The food was great and our waitress was so attentive. Though it seemed like she was the waitress, bartender and barback. Going back today.

Jessica B.

Yelp
Consistency is key and I wish this place had it. Even with the inconsistencies, I still love this really cool tiny spot! I've had the most perfect bar pizza here; thin crispy dough, great sauce/cheese combo and nice lacing. And I've also had what seemed more like greek pizza with thicker dough and no lacing. I've had delicious chicken wings while my friend had a feather sticking out of hers (yikes). The fried chicken sandwich is probably one of the best I've had anywhere, but on the flipside, my burgers always get overcooked for medium-rare. The nachos and tater tot nachos are above average, however the tater tots and fries that come as sides with your meal are sad in comparison. It's hit or miss. Overall, I'd still recommend checking out this fun little spot.

Yelp
Great food great service. Will be back Johnny Kono Burger is awesome Thank you for a great lunch

Jan S.

Yelp
First time here and it should have been the 100th! What a gem!! We had the potato skins, sirloin tips and a wedge salad with chicken. Food and service were awesome! Great atmosphere. It will be a new favorite for us!

Laura S.

Yelp
GLUTEN FREE PIZZA IS AMAZING!! Head to Johnny Kono!! They have a very laid back dive bar feel but this is certainly a hidden gem for food. Friendly staff and delicious so far Wings / burgers / wedge salads / pizzas all great.

Alicia F.

Yelp
The best. Bartenders are great. Food is amazing. Cozy homey atmosphere. Definitely my go to place for a comfy setting with good food, people and drinks.

Ann S.

Yelp
Good food and fun atmosphere!! We went there during Covid for the outdoor seating and remained customers as a result.

Bee G.

Yelp
Nacho are an abomination. Sriracha sauce as a drizzle? On nachos?? No pico,no jalapeños? Please don't call these nachos. Hardly any toppings, looks big but all filled with chips with nothing on them. Pizza was ok. Far from what the reviews claim as the best bar pizza. Not even remotely close. Service is ridiculous. Sat dining room side. Waitress took forever and always seemed aggravated.. We sat with empty drinks for 15 min while waiting over 50 min for a pizza. Pizza came out with cheese already congealed. Clearly it sat there for a while. Two other tables had their pizza and finished while we waited for ours and they ordered right before us. We had to ask three times for the check.

Robert P.

Yelp
I was here once before and food was very good. Their Cole slaw was great. Today was in the area and stopped in for lunch. Fish and chips were delicious and the Cole slaw was amazing. Clean place , friendly wait staff. Don't be surprised if you have to wait for a seat. Both times I have been here it's busy.

Yelp
True Score: 4.5 Stars Great Spot Just like the name says Johnny Kono's is a dive bar. The food is excellent and the drinks are good. It is decorated in a Key West theme. The bar is the spot to be plenty of regulars and new friends alike. The food is good with some imagination. I had crab (pretty sure blue crab) tacos and the chicken parm calzone. The 2 tacos serving while good not an entree for me. The chicken was huge. My take on Johnny's is if one is looking for a place with comfort food with pleasant service you will be happy. If you are looking for a place with some ambiance, cloth napkins, nice silverware, many healthy options or you would be uncomfortable in a basic bar environment it may not work for you...perhaps take out would be better. Overall, we really enjoyed Kono's. Very solid food, strong drinks, cheap beers, and some great music on the jukebox. Add in some super friendly diligent service and really got something here. Wish we lived closer. We'll seek the place out again when we're in the area. Thanks

Carrie K.

Yelp
We decided to try this place while driving through due to its high ratings. It was lunchtime on a Tuesday and the place was full. It was obvious this is where the locals go! The decor was like a surf dive bar and grill. There were some neat signs on the walls. The burgers and fries were great--two in our party had those. I had the Turkey club sandwich. It was pretty good--I was expecting deli meat and it was turkey breasts. The service was slow, but perhaps that's part of the ambiance and environment. Plus it looked like the one waitress was the bartender so she was busy. Definitely a decent place for lunch. And fun seeing a place that was filled with love from the locals.

Leon P.

Yelp
What a gem! I was going to "The World's End" in Hingham and heard Kono's had good South Shore bar pizza. Man, was I not disappointed. The inside is a surf-bar/dive feel with soft music and a mellow vibe. Lots of regulars having a drink or two around 2:30 in the afternoon. Ordered a pepperoni, salami and hot-honey pie with laced edges and holy fucking shit! This was a perfect pie! If you had a hammer, you could tap the pepperoni and it would shatter. The crust was perfectly caramelized with cheese and sauce and might have been the best part. If you order the pie's laced it might take 30-40 minutes. But it's 1000% worth it. On top of that, they had friendly service and a nice townie clientele. I'm a good 40 minute drive from this place but I am already in the process of planning my next visit. Thanks to the owners and the staff for a truly unique and amazing experience!

Caitlin C.

Yelp
First time trying takeout from one of Phantom Gourmet's top rated pizza recommendations and for good reason. Aside from the pizza being a little cool due to the drive home, it's by far the best bar pizza I've had since The Alumni in Quincy closed. Very busy (Friday night) but worth the 30 minute wait for one cheese and one pepperoni pizza (added toppings at home) shown in pics. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for excellent bar pizza that's not greasy!

Mike K.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch the other day. Grabbed a Hamburger and Pickle Pizza and a Bud Light. Beer was cold, service was awesome and the pizza was amazing. I love the crust and sauce on the bar pizza. I have to rank Kono's in my top 5 of bar pizza's on the south shore. Would have liked the hamburger pieces a little smaller, but still great taste and cook on it.

Damien S.

Yelp
First of all, what the hell? There's a door for "Dining Room" and a door for "Baaaaar" (no typos) and both sides are connected through the neckdid, and neither sits more than twenty comfortably. But the food! Cheesesteak swimming in the goods, and on really solid bread, with a side of tots for like $10. Wife's burger was bacon loaded. Bottled Bud Lights (don't judge, it works) were ice cold, and as a testament to the local day drinking scene, not a seat was empty on a Friday at 11am. At the bar. Before noon. Anyway, this place shouldn't be called a dive. Mostly because they serve food, and it's damn good, but they are, so yes Johnny Kono, you are indeed a five star dive bar. A good day, sir.

Rob A.

Yelp
Cuz it not good bad me me meatbull. No thanx thatz all Know more to ad. Go for cheese sandwich.

A S.

Yelp
As far as I'm concerned, this place still holds the title of "5-star dive bar"! I know they're under new(er) ownership, but for our first time there, we were happy with everything! We went on a busy Thursday night, and the place was packed. Once we found a table, our server was attentive and prompt, the drinks were tasty and plentiful, and the food was satisfying. We ordered quahogs, cheesesteak eggrolls, boom boom popcorn shrimp, and a bar pizza. We will certainly be back!

Wilcocol a.

Yelp
I've driven by this place dozens of times and never paid it any mind. Decided to order up a bar pie to go just to try it out, and hot damn. This place is a hidden gem. Ambiance inside looked typical New England townie place, families eating at tables on one side, grown folks drinking and chit chatting at the bar on the other side. Bartender was friendly bringing my order to the register and ringing me out. Will definitely come back and sit at the bar for a few cold beers. Next time I'll get the pizza laced, forgot to ask for it this time but it was still good.

Nana C.

Yelp
We finally made it to Johnny Kono's after talking about going for a long time. Excellent draft, Sam Summer was cold and delicious. The fish tacos did not disappoint. Although I prefer avocado the mango topping was an interesting take. The chicken was excellent but the chili was only okay. Johnny Konos has sort of a dive bar atmosphere with great food.

Ellen R.

Yelp
I liked my fish & chips. Good beer selection. A little small inside. The service was fast and friendly

bos f.

Yelp
While on the south shore, househunting, checked yelp for a seafood place to have lunch. Johnny Kono's came up and mentioned fish tacos - got me right there! When we arrived, let's just say it didn't look like what either of us anticipated. We decided to go in and give it a shot anyway. And were well rewarded for the effort. My fish tacos were delicious - in fact, if I lived closer, I'd probably have been back already for another serving! When I asked our server about the onion rings, she told me they were crisp and thin and were very popular. The onion rings did not disappoint! Highly recommend. More like onion strings, and not greasy at all. We also had a pastrami sandwich, which was lean and came on the perfect bread. So... if there's a lesson, its don't be deterred by outward appearance, go in and you'll probably be happy with whatever you decide to order! Our server was terrific too!

Lee M.

Yelp
As restaurants started opening after Covid, my mom and I visited. We sat at a table where there were water rings on it. We asked waitress to clean table - she just wiped off water/wet stains and walked away. That was wrong and I won't go back.

John B.

Yelp
Great food and service ! The surroundings make it seem like a summer vacation! Was waiting for Jimmy Buffet to walk in !

John N.

Yelp
it's Sunday evening and about 85degrees in this place. There's a great bartender and one waitress who hadn't a clue!! I've been coming here for years and the place has gone steadily downhill since JJonny sold it! Dude, SPRING FOR AN AIR CONDITIONER for the love of God!

Maryan P.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. There are always cars out front so thats a good sign. Walked in and it's all men at the bar and it was packed on a Monday afternoon. We sat at a table in the restaurant side. Ordered two specials. One was Corned beef Reuben and cheese burger with blue cheese. One came with fries One came with thin onion rings. Burger was very good but the Corned beef Reuben was excellent. A LOT of meat in it and very tasty. They have alot of TV's and keno. Would be a great place to watch the Pat's game. Definitely a Townie bat because everyone knew everyone. Definitely going back even though we aren't Weymouth Townies! Wish I took a photo of my Corned beef Reuben. Next time!!

Nelson R.

Yelp
Me and the wife decided to go for a drive to see if we can find a place for a beer and some food for lunch. This place just popped up and man we were glad we found. Place is small but pretty cool with the decor. Beers were SUPER COLD and food was good as well. Definitely will be coming back to try out other dishes.

M A I Te J.

Yelp
Friendly, clean, great music, yummy chili! Plenty tv's if you wanna watch the game. Good vibe in here, mellow & relaxed. Best of all: super friendly service

Joseph S.

Yelp
Excellent joint! Arrived here on Yelp ratings and comments only. Excellent fish and chips cooked perfectly. The decor was quirky shoreside cool. Ashley our waitress took good care of us. Beautiful Chevelle parked out front.

Caitlin M.

Yelp
I've only had takeout, but everything I've had so far has been amazing. It all started with a slice of pickle & pepperoni pizza and I've been hooked ever since. If you are looking for bar style pizza, this place is a solid choice with their perfectly crisp edges and accommodation of not-so-average topping requests. The Maui Wowie burger and onion rings/strings are absolutely delicious! There are so many more menu items I cannot wait to try. I also have to mention that I have never been a fan of coleslaw... That said, I would eat a pint of theirs if I could. It's THAT good!

Kyle S.

Yelp
Mother. Clucker. Don't read further - just order it. The people and food are fantastic. And honestly, Johnny P's responses to the 1 star Yelp reviews make me like Kono's even more.

Kathleen S.

Yelp
Delicious burger - variety of options. Sides were great and service was friendly quick and to the point :) will definitely be heading back

Yelp
Cheese pizza....perfection!! Laced edges extra cheese. Perfect amount of sauce. I hate went you can't taste the sauce...and their sauce is very flavorful. My new favorite bar pizza as of 2021, sorry Lynwood"s.

Murray N.

Yelp
We stopped by here for the first time last Friday and boy was it a good time! Good (Greatttttt!!) food, awesome locals, and good convos. It is the townie bar that we have been looking for!

Kelly D.

Yelp
This place is a hidden treasure. What they lack in size, they make up for in quality! Quality food, quality staff, and quality patrons, who make you feel right at home. The owner seems very engaged in his business, and he is very social. He knows the business well. Do yourself a favor, and try their pizza!!!

Emily M.

Yelp
Great food for the price. Service was friendly and spot on. A hidden gem on the south shore

Andrea K.

Yelp
Great place: strong drinks, good bar food, friendly servers & patrons. Looking forward to the next time.
