The Best Cheesesteaks in Bucks County | Eater Philly

"Enjoy a Cooper sharp and Whiz cheesesteak at the Bucks County location of Johnny Longhots or order a Nonna’s Meat Pie Steak Special, a sandwich made with your choice of beef or chicken and prepared with pepperoni, spinach, salami, and melted mozzarella. As the restaurant name suggests, you’ll want to try the stuffed long hots — peppers piled high with toppings where you can choose from five different varieties." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Google
It's our first time trying this place. We we were visiting sesame place no in Philadelphia, where I googled, to find a good Philly. Steak place for dinner and this restaurant came at the top of the search. So we went there around seven p.m. It was not busy, but people starting showing up after we arrived. I ordered fatty johnny sandwich and it was big portion enough for me and for my wife. The restaurant is clean, nice and the stuff we're friendly. The sandwich was a huge and it costs around 22. Dollars with fries. Which it's actually decent price? Because it can serve two people. I would recommend it for the sesame place visitor and to everyone else.

Google
FANTASTIC! They rave about the cheesesteaks in Philly but you need to go to Fairless Hills for the best cheesesteak! Love the fries too. Great food, excellent service and friendly staff. You won’t regret it. 5 star all the way.

Google
My boyfriend and I love this place! We have tried so much of their food especially their cheese steaks. My best experience was when we had a party and I needed to get something for 12-14 people within a day as I thought I could make something but time was against me! I ordered a small platter of chicken parm cheesesteaks and it was wonderful! I picked it up closer to the party time and they made sure I was not stressed about it. The whole experience was smooth and stress free! The sauce was in the middle and the sandwiches were more than enough for my party. It was packaged well for transport and my guests were happy!

Google
Amazing place with great options! The staff is very friendly and the food was out quickly for being made fresh! Great value for the portion as well. Will be back!

Google
Haven’t had a cheesesteak that good in a long while. Only thing was the crust of the bread was kinda tough, but everything else overtook that

Google
This restaurant is a shining example of how to maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness! From the moment I walked in, I noticed how spotless everything was. The food preparation areas are visibly clean, and you can tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients. The staff were attentive and clearly take pride in keeping everything sanitary. It’s rare to find a place that pays so much attention to detail when it comes to cleanliness. The food tasted amazing, and I felt completely at ease knowing that everything was prepared in such a hygienic environment. Definitely a five-star experience and a place I'll be returning to regularly!

Google
Came in to grab some grub for the Penn State game. Amazing menu with plenty of options.I had a Tom and Jerry Cheesesteak that was a mix of Chicken and Beef with Cooper Sharp and the Husband had a Chicken Cutlet Hoagie with a long hot. Super Clean and amazing staff! Highly Recommend!

Yelp
I have just started ordering from this establishment maybe a year and a half ago. Let me tell you that they have some of the most amazing food I have ever had. The cheesy tots are what got me to order other things from Johnny Long Hots; if you haven't tried the cheesy tots you are surely missing something mouth watering. ( I try not to even share them with my kids!) The cheesy tots are loaded with cheese so if you are a cheese lover like myself then next time you're ordering from this lovely place.. order the damn cheesy tots and then come back and thank me! Ha ha ha

Yelp
I ordered the Longhot cheese steak. The restaurant never sent any texts from start to finish. I was having it delivered to a hospital. I sent special instructions for the delivery driver to call or text when they were close. I intended to meet the driver at the main entrance. The Grubhub driver elected to call after leaving the sandwich on the unattended front desk. I requested a plate, cutlery, napkins, condiments. None of that was included with the delivery. The sandwich was devoid of mushrooms, fried onions, Provolone cheese, and oh longhots. The last one I would think would be hard to miss. There was cheese, but it was American. As an added bonus they squirterd grease in the roll. Usually a restaurant will do this if their product is horrible. Although I was in a hospital, today is not my time for a quadruple bypass. I put that sandwich in the trash where it belongs. Do your wallet and self a favor, eat elsewhere. In response to the owner, I ordered from the Yelp app. Your restaurant popped up, and Grubhub delivered it. The 1 star review was based upon your inability to provide what I ordered, and because the sandwich was on the extra greasy side. It had nothing to do with Grubhub.

Yelp
We came here after a long day at Sesame Place because I was craving a cheesesteak and Curly's doesn't really have much space to sit. Having never been here, I wanted to give it a shot. I ordered just a regular cheesesteak with cooper sharp (which is an upcharge) and my kids got cheese sticks and a quesadilla. I do wish there was more of a kids menu, they have hot dogs but not for kids. The cheesesteak was solid, not the best I've had but definitely serviceable. I love the fixins' they have, peppers, etc. I loved it. But they really get 4 stars because the service was excellent. It was pretty empty, the (I assume) owners, were so friendly and more than accommodating and asking how everything was. Their daughter who was decorating the Christmas tree with candy canes offered my girls some and it made their day. They were just so nice. For that reason alone I will absolutely come back here. I also loved they had Rocky on a loop. It's one of my favorites.

Yelp
Ordered a Johnny Wrap $10.39 Longhots on Side. 3 people in the back handling food not one person had on gloves. One person even had on slides (kind of understand because there was no air conditioning). My wrap was extremely greasy. The chicken cutlet was a very thin hard. super crunchy was not able to eat it. The whole wrap was disgusting and greasy

Yelp
Finally crossed off my bucket list, to get a Philly cheesesteak from Philly and this place did not disappoint! Cheesesteak was amazing! Yum! Can't wait to come back whenever I'm in Philly again. So worth it!

Alice L.

Yelp
Their food is delicious and plentiful. Their lunch specials are well worth it. Their longhots are delicious and boardwalk hot sausage is fabulous. The employees will do everything they can to help you.

Yelp
The atmosphere was fun, and there was much to take in when you first walked in. I've wanted to try this place for a while, so we did after reading a great review. I did not think it was great. I thought it was so, so. There was nothing special about their steak sandwiches that would make me "wow" them. I got a one-size-only cheese steak hoagie with Cooper Sharp instead of American, and it was just ok. They had a lot of options on the menu. Pretty much everything you could possibly want was on the menu. Wheelchair accessible, child friendly, not a place to dine in because of the size which is small. Their hours are always different, but I know they are closed by 9 pm. The staff seemed annoyed that we walked in, which did not score them any extra points in my book. I do not, nor do I recommend Johnny Longshots, try it, and decide for yourself and let me know what you thought because maybe you will love it!

Yelp
Not sure what is going on but wow! Salty cheesesteak and sliced burned potatoes for the hot dog now. Fries were soggy and no crisp whatsoever. Sad!

Yelp
Food 5 stars Service 5 stars Ambiance 5 stars Great sandwiches and people always go to this place when I want a hoagie or a steak sandwich

Yelp
One star for the root beer soda The food on the other hand was absolutely TERRIBLE I had the Johnny Mac which was over stuffed all falling out and the so called Russian dressing tasted like motor oil. My wife had the pork roast and when she picked the sandwich up, a gallon of oil came gushing out. We both shared the cheese fries which was supposed to be with fresh mozzarella ( it was like rubber) - we left with everything on the table. Got nothing but a run around from Andrew the worker and his so called owner Amar who was supposed to call us to discuss which never happened. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. FYI Mr Amar, clean the dead bugs off the window sills and mop up the urine on the floor in your bathroom. Will definitely be calling the health department about this place. 6 hours later and my wife and I still have knots in our stomach- we had to stop 3 times to use restrooms. CANT WAIT FOR YOUR RESPONSE Mr Amar Your reply is nonsense and incorrect. It's funny how you have the time to write this reply but couldn't take five minutes to call us back. We got nothing but a run a round from your worker that we called 2 minutes after we left to let him know. We didn't stay because my wife was sick to her stomach and really didn't want to cause a scene inside your establishment. You wanna make good- no problem, refund our debit card and let's see how much of an honest businessman you are.

Yelp
Went there today, ordered a Roast Pork w/ Provolone Sandwich. Spent over $40 for 2 sandwiches and fries My sandwich was dripping oil everywhere , so so much drowned the pork in oil. I literally took 2 bites. Left the whole sandwich, fries , and my husband's sandwich there. We spoke with a kid named Andrew at the register and 6 hours later , still so sick from the oil and never got a refund. I called and spoke with this kid 4 times already and kept getting the run around. Not to mention: Disgusting bathroom, dead bugs all over the windowsills, mouse droppings in corner in bathroom, flies all over the place. BAD BAD PLACE!! AMAR IF THATS YOUR REAL NAME ! THERES QUITE A BUT OF NEGATIVE REVIEWS. STOP LYING ON HERE. YOU WERE AFRAID TO CALL ME BECAUSE YOU DONT WANT TO HEAR HOW BAD YOUR FOOD WAS, BUT YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO WRITE ON YELP. YOUR PLACE IS FILTHY! I WILL MAKE SURE TO LET THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT KNOW. T I GOT SICK FROM YOUR FILTHY STORE!!

Yelp
This the sandwich shop from heaven. Probably one of the cleanest sandwich places I've been in flat out. Floors chairs, walls everything was very clean. When I customer got up from a table. A staff member would be there cleaning the area up. The Staff is really on top of things. They are all about Philly. The original Rocky playing on the TV. 76ers on another. Rocky photos around the walls. Kevin Hart and Julius Irving poster. First place that mad me take so many pictures including of the staff. I had to try the food that carry the name of the store. I got the longhots. They have 3 kinds. I got 3 South Philly Long Hot. If you can handle the peppers. You will love these. The cheese is melted perfectly over the meat. 3 of them are a meal in itself with some fries or onion rings. And a Chipotle Cheesesteak. That was really tasty. And a lot of sandwich for the money. This will be the first place I've bookmarked, experienced and kept in my bookmark. There are few things I need to try here. This is a top shelf sandwich shop. If you in the area. Give them a try

Yelp
If you come hungry do NOT order with your eyes, the portion sizes are INSANE! But the food is so good. Very fast and friendly service. They must have known we were newbies! The ambiance was very chill, loved all the pictures and things they had hanging up all over. The Buffalo mozzarella sticks were AMAZING. I love my mozzarella sticks with blue cheese so this was so good. The chicken cutlet was so good we had gotten the caprese one. It was so big and just so fresh. No need to take the ride to Philly and if you're looking for your cheesesteak fix, look no further. This place has so many different ones, my picture didn't wind up saving of the one we had gotten but it was the Franklin and man was it mouth watering good. The French fries with whiz was so good. Perfect fries nice and crispy. We will definitely be back because I want to try everything & get more pics of course!

Yelp
Friendly staff, great food & free fries on Tuesdays with purchase of cheesesteaks! Big menu & fair prices!

Yelp
Traveling from Southern California and wanted to try cheesesteaks / Longhots! How pleasantly surprised we were! Greeted immediately upon entry and a lot of patience as we perused the large menu. Ordered a traditional cheesesteak with copper sharp and the trio of Longhots. Nice pickle and pepper bar as well. The red pepper relish is to die for! Sandwich was hot, cheesy and so good! Loved the prosciutto Longhots the best. Hubby liked the steak one. All 3 were amazing. The food was YUMMMMMMY and the service superb! Gave us recommendations of places we can't miss. Thanks for a wonderful experience Johnny's!

Yelp
Meh. I had the Yo Philly, roast pork topped with sharp provolone, broccoli rabe and long hots, served on seeded bread. While there's no shortage of meat and veggies (as in it won't fit in a normal sized mouth) and I liked the lightly toasted roll (crunchy sides, soft middle) I prefer thinly sliced, tender roast pork that's flavorful and dripping with meat juice. The hunks of shredded pork in this sammy were dry and had little flavor - and the broccoli rabe was a bit crunchy. Not my thing. So disappointing. Tommy DiNic's you've spoiled me forever.

Yelp
Needed to grab a quick lunch and have been wanting to try Johnny Longhots for quite some time - today was the day. The most friendly guy at the counter welcomed us and explained the menu (only a billboard style/ no hand held or take out menus) He was super patient as we perused the many varieties, even offering suggestions. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and served to us hot and juicy. Far superior to Pats - Steve's and way better than Steak and Hoagie Factory. Plenty to fill us at the table and leftovers for later. A hefty flavorful steak. With the limitless options for steaks including dozens of local pizza shops. Johnny's will surely be added to our list of places to satisfy the cheese steak cravings.

C R.

Yelp
First time going here. The wait was 15 minutes than quoted but that was ok. Sandwiches were good, but we thought it was a bit pricey. We'd eat there again, but probably won't be a regular takeout spot of ours.

Yelp
I was in the area and felt like something new. I've noticed these guys in some advertisings since they opened and finally decided to pay them a lunchtime visit. I walked in and was greeted by a nice woman and her son. I'm pretty sure it is a family operation, dad was in the back cooking, mother and son were manning the front. The menu is pretty big and thorough. Example, they have thirteen variants of a chicken cutlet sandwich. I kept staring down their Pork Diablo off the menu board and went with that. Pork Diablo - Roast Pork, Crushed Red Pepper Spread, Spinach, Long Hots & Sharp Provolone on a toasted seeded roll. The wait wasn't too bad. The first thing I noticed was the spinach loaded on with a decent garlicy kick. The pork was tender and juicy, sharp provolone needed to be sharper and the long hots were mild. The crushed red pepper spread was a nice touch and gave it a little extra fire. The bread was fresh, crispy, held together well and did not get soaked from the pork juices or the spinach. Huge points for that! The fries were crinkle cut and decent. If they step up and throw some sharper provo and hotter long hots I would be impressed. Maybe a variant could be added? Overall my first experience from these guys was good and better than average. The price was average and I noticed by the conversations that a lot of regulars come in there. Not a bad place. Thanks guys!

Yelp
I have eaten here at least 4 or 5 times and they never disappoint. I discovered this gem during the pandemic and I've been hooked ever since. I have tried many of their sandwiches (The creed, chicken parm, the rocky, sausage sub, buff chicken sub). My favorite is the chicken parm. Their mozz sticks are also delicious. I usually only get one sandwich because it is sooooo filling. All I can say is YUM.

Mia V.

Yelp
Longhots are tasty! Spicy and tasty! Coolers cheesesteak was excellent. Ambiance was nice. I will be back.
google avatar

Brad K.

Yelp
The Longhots were awesome.... Perfect mix of heat. The cheesesteaks were good and the bread even better. The service however is five stars all the way
google avatar

Dan U.

Yelp
Best cutlet I've had outside city limits. Endless variations of classic Philly sandwiches on the menu.

AJ D.

Yelp
A year later from my initial review. This place is still impeccable. Absolutely love the sandwiches
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I ordered one cheese steak and fries to share because when we ordered for 2 steaks sandwiches and came to $30, which we felt like that was expensive and I'm glad we only ordered one, because it was not good at all,we will never return to that restaurant again.

Yelp
That Johnny Longhots has a great name for an Italian sandwich shop is beyond doubt. Reminds of Robert Louis Stevenson's Long John Silver in the great novel classic, Treasure Island. Capturing an image of pirate treasure and devious scalliwags as part of your business image has gotta be a strong beginning for this new enterprise on Oxford Valley Road in Fairless Hills, PA. That they also turn out fantastic sandwiches, steaks and the like, means they can back up the talk (advertising) with action. My Italian Hot Dog was amazing. Three quality frankfurters in a sesame torpedo roll topped with a load of roast potato, Italian frying pepper, sauteed sweet onion, mustard and ketchup, and doctored with hot banana peppers from the fixings bar, makes for a memorable chomp down. It was the best I've enjoyed in many years. At nearly $9 it wasn't cheap, but when you realize there is really enough there for two people or to take home half for later consumption, the value proposition comes into focus. Come with your favorite +1, or pack and carry for your later pleasure. Johnny Longhots is good for eat in or carry out, or both, as I just discovered. Totally impressive. Definitely a Treasure Island!

Yelp
We order the tuna salad deli sandwich, cheesesteak with onions & mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, don pepperoni chicken cutlets & cheeseburger. The tuna salad deli sandwich was good, but the bread could have been toasted. The cheesesteak good. The side are okay. The cheeseburger was ok, frozen patty not fresh. We didn't get to taste what Don pepperoni chicken cutlets taste because they never pack it in our to go order. Such shame that they didn't care to check if you have received all yourr order. Especially when it was not even busy. I can see when they are pack a mistake can happen but not when it was dead.

Gerald S.

Yelp
01/06/2024 7:30 pm I ordered a chicken Pauline. the seeded roll was burnt the cutlet was way overcooked (shoe leather comes to mind. stringy and charred) The sad part is the guy who over cooked this sandwich and put it in a box probably has no idea what he's doing. I paid and the other sad part is I tipped for something they call a cutlet. Used to be a good place not so much anymore. Maybe you should try a different line of work?
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Chicken parm was incredible. Family environment was also great. Service really showed how much they care about the restaurant

Yelp
Dec. 29, 2022... Stopped in for a steak sandwich.. Let me get to the point... High quality ingredients prepped right and prepared perfectly is always a winner in the food business. Condiments bar was fully stocked.. really nice people behind the counter... Again, great steak sandwich.. They really care about the product that the customer gets.imo, Order with confidence.

Yelp
I'm not often compelled to leave reviews but I stumbled upon this place and WOW! I live in south philly and am pretty passionate about hoagies, I got "the yunk" and it didn't disappoint ! Soft bread, meat cut to order, perfect lettuce tomato onions. The service was so good, the women at the register was so patient with the customers, very informative and went out of her way to make sure everyone knew what they were ordering so ensure they liked it. They also have a FIXIN BAR which brought me more excitement then I knew was possible. Place was very clean and decked out in philly gear. I'm going to make sure to come back even though it's 40 minutes away from my house. Thank you!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This place used to be GREAT. Now, it's gone completely downhill. From overcooked meat, to completely lacking toppings and cheese, right down to soggy rolls. Horrible experience, and for over $50 for 4 sandwiches? F*** that. Walking into the place, it smells dirty, the floors are cruddy, next to no one is wearing any gloves when handling the food... Never again. I'll do everything in my power to steer as many people away from this travesty of a business as I can.

lynn m.

Yelp
BLUE COLLAR CRITIC...... I have always enjoyed Johnny Long Hots and I miss Joe . Under the new ownership things just are not the same . I recently ordered an Italian hot dog one of my favorite childhood things and barely could eat it . It isn't that it wasn't good it's because the amount of mustard was on both sides of the Roll dripping out and making a mess of my hands and my mouth as well . I called and I spoke with Ahmed and he stated some people like a lot of mustard it wasn't until I told him that I would be using a review that he said oh so sorry come in let us know when you're here and I will replace your sandwich . Sorry admit you've got to do it right the first time this will be a place we will not be returning to . You have been critiqued .
google avatar

Yelp
Nice people. Great soda choices. Steak sandwich had a lot of meat. Will definitely go back.

Anna J.

Yelp
For a while, I've wanted to try the cheesesteaks here. I finally got to do that on a hot Sunday evening, yesterday. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed that there was no air conditioning. The fans were blowing on high and the doors were open. As I walked up to the counter to order, I was quickly overwhelmed by the extensive menu. There were so many things on the menu that it was difficult to read. After a long while of thinking, I finally decided on the mango habanero cheesesteak with beef. The cheesesteak was served on a seeded roll and contained a mango habanero sauce, pepper jack cheese, chopped peppers, etc. My cheesesteak came with crinkle-cut fries and a cup of melted cheese sauce. I got a Johnny Longhots-branded Vanilla Cream soda to enjoy my meal with, too. The flavor of the cheesesteak was excellent. The cook asked if we could feel the heat, but unfortunately the sandwich was not the least bit spicy. The mango habanero sauce had a decent flavor, although I wish there was a lot more of it and that it was spicier. The crinkle-cut fries were excellent with the melted cheese or with ketchup. The soda was not the most carbonated of sodas I've had, but the flavor was overall very good. I'd come back to try other cheesesteak variations.

Bernice M.

Yelp
Used to be fantastic. New owners not so much. We usually order a cheesesteak with fried onions and American cheese. Each week the roll gets smaller and less cheese and onions. Tonight's had NO onions and about 1/2 teaspoon of cheese and of course the price went up. We no longer get any of the self serve pickles and pepper, one night a woman stuck her finger into each to see what it tasted like. So beware. Looking for another place.
google avatar

Joel E.

Yelp
Love this place! The people are friendly and the food is delicious! Get the Longhot steak and the pork Diablo oh and don't forget the stuffed longhots!
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
Great cheesesteak, fries, banana pudding. Service was fast & friendly too. Plenty of cheese and side options. Chicken and meatball hoagies as well as cheesesteaks and the dessert options were vast too. Cheesecake, cannoli that are stuffed to order. I'll be back again when I am in the area.

Michelle P.

Yelp
Died and went to Philly food heaven - quality cheesesteaks, sandwiches (hot and cold), crinkle cut fries and top it all off with water ice, cake or a cannoli! The highlight of it all though was this place's namesake - the stuffed long hots! I tried the sausage and moz and the prosciutto and provolone (which I devoured before remembering to snap a pic). Enjoy the Philly pride ambience and have yourself a good old time where comfort food meets quality and that perfect touch of spice
google avatar

Dan D.

Yelp
I'm not sure what's changed here, just wasn't the same. All the orders were wrong, no free fries on Tuesday as advertised, and it just wasn't as good. I'll miss you guys but I think I'll have to take my business elsewhere.

Dennis S.

Yelp
This place serves up one of the best cheesesteaks you will ever taste. It's truly a Philly style Restaurant. The service is Great! They definitely aim to please their customers!!
google avatar

Sue L.

Yelp
We stopped by just as they opened to pick up sandwiches for a picnic by the Delaware. We chose Italian sausage, chicken cheese steak, turkey hoagie split for the little ones and stuffed longhorns Italiano. The care and consideration we were shown was exceptional! The food was great as we're leftovers the next day

Roy G.

Yelp
Nice spot with a rather broad menu given a wide range of selections. My first visit I tried the Yo Philly Roast Beef sandwich. It did not disappoint! The meat to bread ratio makes the price well worth the product. I was politely surprised as I wasn't even able to finish the second half of this delicious sandwich. It was legit! Nice and juicy! I would recommend everyone to give Johnny Longhots a try if you've not already. Oh yeah, I also tried an order of the Italiano Longhots not bad either they do have a bit of a kick however, but the sauce on the side gives them a nice complement.

Joe M.

Yelp
Best cheesesteaks I've ever had. My family and I were in town for vacation and the food and service were top notch.
google avatar

Jeff C.

Yelp
I've taken out twice both times different sandwiches. First time was a roast pork, second a chicken cutlet. I enjoyed my food both times. It's nice to have these type of sandwiches in the neighborhood without the drive into Philly. Looking forward to trying a new sandwich soon !
google avatar

Jeremy R.

Yelp
Johnny Longhots easiest has the best cheesesteak in the area. They can be a bit pricey compared to others.

Shannon P.

Yelp
We found this place trying to find something different. Ohhh Boy do they make a good Sandie! It's New York meets Philly and it does not disappoint! I had a yo Philly, roast Pork, broccoli raab w provolone. Crazy good roast pork!! Seeded bun... I'm not eating this sandwich anywhere else. My Guy had a cheese steak w Cooper cheese! Fooohgetaboutit! Greeted by great counter guy that shared his faves... Andrew made me love this place more!!

Lauren G.

Yelp
Sometimes this place has issues with GrubHub which apparently is GrubHub's problem, not theirs. Aside from that, I got there around 1130 today and the order never got accepted b/c GrubHub logged them out or something... not sure. Despite a misunderstanding, he got the order done really quick and was apologetic. I wasn't mad and all is good. But let's just say that while I wish they'd toast the bread a little, it was a very satisfying lunch and whatever they did to improve the fries (looks like they made them larger crinkle cut fries), these were the best Cajun fries I've had in this area in a long time. Sorry for the misunderstanding but thank you very much for rectifying everything. I really much appreciate it and for the great lunch today. After being asked to work today when I didn't want to, this really turned my morning around today.

Yelp
Ordered a pizza steak and some Pork Italiano long peppers. Fantastic food. Great atmosphere. The two behind the counter this afternoon were friendly and helpful, immediately felt welcomed. Owner was very welcoming. We need more places with passion like this. I hope this place is around for long times to come. You have my business for life
