That Johnny Longhots has a great name for an Italian sandwich shop is beyond doubt. Reminds of Robert Louis Stevenson's Long John Silver in the great novel classic, Treasure Island. Capturing an image of pirate treasure and devious scalliwags as part of your business image has gotta be a strong beginning for this new enterprise on Oxford Valley Road in Fairless Hills, PA.
That they also turn out fantastic sandwiches, steaks and the like, means they can back up the talk (advertising) with action. My Italian Hot Dog was amazing. Three quality frankfurters in a sesame torpedo roll topped with a load of roast potato, Italian frying pepper, sauteed sweet onion, mustard and ketchup, and doctored with hot banana peppers from the fixings bar, makes for a memorable chomp down. It was the best I've enjoyed in many years.
At nearly $9 it wasn't cheap, but when you realize there is really enough there for two people or to take home half for later consumption, the value proposition comes into focus. Come with your favorite +1, or pack and carry for your later pleasure.
Johnny Longhots is good for eat in or carry out, or both, as I just discovered.
Totally impressive. Definitely a Treasure Island!
