What’s the First Restaurant Featured on ‘Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives’? | Eater

"Featured as the filming location for the pilot episode of a major Food Network series, this Linden, New Jersey diner was where the show’s on-the-line style and host persona were born during a 17-day shoot. On the first day the then-new host—unfamiliar with diners—jumped into the kitchen, charmed staff and customers, and even flipped burning hash browns on the line, a performance that convinced the producer they had a hit. The production helped cement the program’s format, and after the episode aired owner Mike Giunta’s small restaurant saw a surge in business, prompting added tent seating and the launch of a lunch truck and catering service to meet demand." - Greg Morabito

Tight spacing but takes outside to eat. Portions are big and has good flavor. The hot dog with the works is surprisingly good. I was impressed with the chili and saurkraut. But can't go wrong with a breakfast player either. Very affordable eats

A staple in the linden/bayway area for years. Triple D was there! We stopped in for breakfast and sat at the counter which only has 5 seats and the only other seats are outside. 2 over easy with corn beef and home fries and toasted rye! Perfect. Everything is cooked as it should be. Great coffee and carrot cake! The place is always busy and they keep up with the demand no problem. If you want good hot diner food at a good price stop by and you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend checking it out.

A local customer told me try their burgers, dogs & chili so I stopped in today. Waited only about 10 minutes in all. Chili dog was great, good flavor on the chili, the deep fried then grilled dog was bigger than the bun and had good snap. The bun though didn't hold up under the weight of everything. The burger on a roll was an 8oz patty placed between a hard roll. I should've specified toppings as I didn't get any. The bread was fresh and the meat juicy, maybe underseasoned a bit. All that and a can of diet coke was $13.24. Not bad at all.

This place is the bomb! Hot dogs are better than Hiram’s and Rutt’s. Santa Fe salad is ridiculous. Chili is awesome!

Very charming place! Cute both inside and out, very classic feel. Place is small but not claustrophobic. Two workers taking orders were both lovely and attentive. My chicken and fries were both cooked well and tasted great. Would definitely recommend if you’re ever in the area!

Layout/atmosphere *Chrome exterior, old school sign (almost a mini truck stop for breakfast/lunch); six seat counter; need to walk outside to access men’s bathroom; three tables outside; parking lot Service *Friendly Food/drink *Double hamburger [1/2 lb patty] with cheese (on seeded roll) & French fries - really good; patty was juicy, roll held up; fries were crinkle cut style, crispy

I had a great breakfast in this tiny little diner. The staff was very friendly particularly the owner, John. The cheese scrambled eggs were perfectly done as were the peppers and onions home fries, and the sausage links were very good quality. They are generous with the butter on the toast.

What a gem. Super friendly staff, very reasonable prices, and large portions. The chili dog hit the spot, fantastic chili. The Cuban sandwich was also delicious. If you're in the area, stop by.
