It’s been a long time since I’ve ate at Johnny Rocket’s! However, as I was passing through I decided I wanted a quick bite! Johnny Rocket’s has been in business for a long time and the employees take pride with this business. I ordered a burger and you can tell the quality compared to a regular fast food chain! It was my very, first time trying out Johnny Rockets while we visited Hoboken. Loved the super funky exterior but when we ventured inside... WOW! It honestly felt like we'd stepped back in time to the 50's! The retro-looking seats, the feel and vibe of the place, along with the old record selectors they used to have back in the day (although these ones no longer work, it was still cool that they were part of the diner!) They had old tunes playing, which added to the diner vibes. With us visiting during the week, we were able to find a seat immediately, greeted by the lovely young lady working there. We had time to browse the menu, which offered things such as fries, tots and onion rings, along with burgers, sandwiches, and salads also. I must say, their hand-spun milkshakes are AMAZING! I opted for the peanut butter one and my word, it was delicious! Super creamy, thick but not too thick that you couldn't suck it through the straw. When the young lady came back to take our orders, we started with the onion rings which were super crispy and tasty, being complimented by the ranch sauce on the side. For the burgers, you have a choice of a single patty or a double. I ended up going for a single Route 66, which came with Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms, caramelised onions and mayonnaise. The burgers don't come with fries, so you have to specify if you'd like them. But the burger itself, along with the onion rings was very filling. Pressing down the burger, I could see the juices from the burger and biting into it, was a real taste sensation! SO MUCH BETTER than anything you'd get at McDonald's or the likes. The burgers were fresh and cooked to order on the big grill in the kitchen, full of flavour from the first bite to the very last. THIS is certainly a place I'd come back to, without a doubt! A big thank you to the young lady who served us, as she was super pleasant and a pleasure to interact with. We exchanged brief pleasantries with the chap who was at the bar, as we were leaving (I believe he may have been a manager/the owner). Would highly recommend if you're in Hoboken, looking for a bite to eat in an awesome establishment!

First time at this establishment we got to the location like ten minutes before closing we had went all over Hoboken and most places were closed. We apologized for last minute Madia was very sweet took our orders and brought us our food. Food was fresh and correct and delicious. Appreciated their hospitality will return. Keep up the good work you guys👍

Stopped into Johnny Rockets just needing to use the bathroom and the staff was kind enough to let me without even buying anything. That level of hospitality really stood out. Out of gratitude, I ordered a shake afterward and it was absolutely delicious. Great people and great service I’ll definitely be back

I've come here a few times, I decided to take sometime to write about how this place makes me feel. let me talk of this person first who greeted me, and brought food and chatted for a few shuffling moments his busy work let him. Dennis, the store manager, brought me a chicken burger, fries, a vanilla milkshake, and most importantly he did a little smiley with the ketchup on a mini plate. for somebody like me who hardly goes to diners for burgers and munch off on quick food made on an assembly line like kitchen and delivered off by people who just call you by an assigned number, this recent Johnny rockets experience was refreshing. I wanted to know its history but also chatted away with Dennis as to why he migrated to the realm of food. he has a genuine human bent and an honesty about him. the way he shuffled his attention between many orders was perfection perhaps given his long years of work. I asked if I could take a picture of him with the food which was also great with fresh ingredients , thanks Dennis .... the restaurant is a beauty and the food is real

Me and my daughter were looking for a proper American diner experience. JR didn't disappoint us perfectly cooked food. The food was amazing. The staff were very helpful. Went there twice in the 2 weeks we were there. Took my other daughter who lives in New York she had never been, and she really enjoyed it.

So epic after the club. Aliyah served us (and served 💅) and she was so amazing. Girl needs a raise like she was literally so attentive to our table and was so nice and got our food so fast. Queen #loveher

Service is great; staff is friendly. Food is always delicious and fresh! 😋 we usually order the classic one but today we tried the Spicy Houston and Bacon one. The place isn’t very clean though. 😛 but im giving it 5 stars because i love this place!

Johnny Rocket's 134 Washington St. Hoboken, NJ 07030 Oreo Cookies & Cream Shake The 1950s nostalgic atmosphere with tabletop jukeboxes will metaphorically bring you back in time. The jukeboxes don't accept change, but scan the QR code if you want to hear some classic tunes. This milkshake is on the thicker side and I see why it is the most popular dessert beverage on the menu. You will definitely need the larger size straw to slurp chunks of crushed Oreo cookie pieces.

I got the smoke house burger and it was so fricking YUMMY cooked to perfect fr ong icl ts was bussing. The service was good. barely anyone was here when I came. Waiter was chill af shout out to him for the silly face ketchup plate( bro looked like he wanted to fly away form there...)

Such a wonderful place for a family dinner with little kids! I love the food, and the service at my dinner tonight was AMAZING. The waiter and team were so kind, so accommodating, checked in on us, brought the kids crayons and coloring sheets. Can't wait to go back!

It's sooo unreliable. Original no mayo... today they gave me extra mayo no patty. Soo sad how they've changed

PROS: Very nice J.R's that I always wanted to try. Staff is nice, food comes out relatively quickly, and just like other locations menu variety and prices are good. Spacious inside for a Hoboken diner and has the 50s atmosphere like usual CONS: They only have a one person bathroom which causes a line since the place holds dozens of customers OVERALL: If I'm in the mood for food again while being in Hoboken I will come here. I wouldn't drive here specifically for this place cause there's no parking, but if you're on foot, no worries about it

Avoid a must. The restaurant his a fowl smell to it that seemed strange (first sign). Rodents running around active dining room, this is not supposed to happen ever. Rodent droppings mixed into chopped meat of my burger. The server was embarrassed, he's not at fault and was good at his job. My entire group STOPPED EATING and exit the restaurant.

I really wanted Johnny rockets for a while now so I decided to drive to the nearest one from NYC. I ordered the turkey burger with bacon and it was only OKAY . The turkey burger tasted like beef though and the bacon was very burnt . I didn't absolutely hate it but I didn't love it. The fries were very well done but the waiter compensated us with a brand new batch of fries which I appreciate but they weren't anything special. The onion rings were slimy which I didn't love but it is what it is. I probably won't ever come back . Maybe next time I'll try a beef burger if I ever come back !

We stopped in for lunch to see how this franchise measured up to what we were used to. The food was exactly the same quality you expect to find in a Johnny Rockets (if you've been to one before): the burgers are very tasty, juicy and more than enough to satisfy a hungry man; the buns are sweet and soft brioche bread; the French fries are crispy potatoes; onion rings are crunchy and delicious. In my opinion, the barbecue sauce is too sweet and not at all spicy (but it's a burger joint, not a barbecue place). Actually, the food was so filling that I didn't even have room to try one of their famous shakes or desserts. The service is very good and attentive. I really enjoyed the décor. One of my favorite parts of Johnny Rockets is the 1950's diner feel with the checkerboard floor, red vinyl upholstered seats and the mini jukeboxes. You have the option of ordering a single or a double burger, but unless you're really hungry, just get the single. I was completely satisfied with just a single (and I didn't even have an appetizer).

What service? We waited 15 minutes, finally had to flag down a server to get menus. It wasn't busy. This happened a few years ago as well when we were at the counter. We left that time. This place usually has good food and shakes, but be prepared to wait. Bring your own tissues for bathrooms too.

Popped in here to try one of their classic burgers. The manager was quick to come out and seat us. Service isn't quite as fast and was not attentive at al, but eventually we managed to get a burger and fries. Fries came out first and were quite disappointing. Portion of fries is very small for the price ($4.39). Burgers are tasty and well made, however one of the buns was burnt pretty badly. I generally prefer the burgers more rare, but here they seem to default to well done. Tried to order an iced tea as well but apparently they were out of that.

The service is absolutely horrible here the waiters do not pay any money to anyone who walks they made me and my friend. Wait for 20 minutes before we had to ask them if we could order.

I haven't been here in years but I was craving a burger and fries and a shake. Restaurant is clean and the staff was friendly and attentive. Music was from the 50s & 60s (as it should be in a "Malt Shop") and everything was great. I had cheesefries and a double rocket burger. I also had a vanilla milkshake and it was DELICIOUS. There are many places to eat in Hoboken but I'm glad I went here. I noticed they turned away people that weren't wearing face masks when they came in: GOOD. If you haven't "gotten it" by now - don't come in. They were standing near the entrance, which is where my booth was. At least enter with a face mask on and then take it off once you are seated to eat. That's how 2022 works.

Shawn is a phenomenal waiter and is hospitable. Me and my wife are regulars here and are known to only get the apple pie. Every time we walk in Shawn will yell "LEMME GUESS THE REGULAR WITH ICE CREAM HUH?" Hahahah SHAWN IS THE BEST!

have you tried their milkshakes? they are the best .. you know what else is? the staff and especially Nadia, the lady i talk to and the lady that orders, prepares and brings the food. there's nothing more american than a classic diner with burgers, fries and shakes. the ambience is crazy but none of that matters withiut Nadia's hospitality, she serves and treats people like they matter, that makes the dining experience consumate, her welcome makes me want to come here again and again.

I've been coming to this establishment for quite some time now, but I have to say the new girl has spiffed up the service. Angie is the nicest young woman always beaming and taking orders with the friendliest smile. She was very attentive to my table and, to what I've seen, always considerate to even the most disturbing of customers. I'd recommended going just to have a nice chat with her. Her work ethic is very noticeable, even allowing my wife to chime in and say a few good words about her (if you knew my wife you'd know that would be unimaginable) I made this account specifically to thank her for her amazing service and I will be coming again and with more mouths to feed.

If I could give this place a negative star I would I had the most unpleasant experience with a manager (Asian , glasses) Denis I believe had to sit on my table and listen to this manager argue with a pregnant lady about him firing her with no actual cause calling her dumb and be littering her in front of everyone if this is how Johnny Rockets treats their employees or ex-employees were in a bad place here telling this younger girl that she can't keep using pregnancy as an excuse

I just don't know how to feel about this place. Is it just me or is this just a Sonic with indoor seating? We came because my daughter had won several rewards at school that came with Johnny Rockets sundaes. I had, in all honesty, put it off as long as I possibly could but in the end we had to celebrate her achievements by using her certificates. The food is okay. I had chili cheese fries that were just okay. The chili tasted burnt though. Like maybe it should have been stirred more or something? My daughter and I had the hot dog with relish, mustard, and ketchup. This is another shrug from me. Super nice toasted thick bun. But the bun was so thick there was very little hot dog taste. The reason I'm giving this a 2 star is that the food was alright but the service was terrible. Our waitress was very sweet but had to be asked multiple times for drinks, water, silverware, etc. I also overheard a staff member (not 5 feet from my 8 and 13 year old kids) repeatedly say "sh!t." Johnny Rockets man....kids. I'd say we won't go back but my little girl is hella smart so I am sure we will be celebrating more achievements at Johnny's....

The food was good but the customer service was even better. The atmosphere was amazing and fun. Angie was super nice and very friendly. Will be back just because of her.

I had a smoke house sandwich with chicken which had chicken tenders as the patty and it was delicious. The bacon was perfectly cooked and was good to taste as well. They have a nice ambience and a retro style layout which feels nice in a city like hoboken. My server Brandy was super helpful and helped me with understanding the menu as I went here for the first time and was also very generous. I had a good time overall and will definitely visit again

There was a mouse running around the restaurant. Employees seemed genuinely surprised... but then I read these reviews. They were not surprised they were faking it.

Angie gave us great, speedy service. Milkshakes were great. I thought the building's scent smelled a bit too harshly of chemicals. Lighting above our window booth table was also a bit harsh at 11pm.

Angelique was the greatest server I ever had. She was quick with our order and our food was ready in minutes. The atmosphere was great and friendly, the dancing was amazing and fun.

Delicious!!! Got the Spicy Houston on a gluten free bun and the Bacon Burger with a fried egg and a side of fries. The service was great, got seated right away, and attentive to our needs. The vibes were nice too, I was able to select the music from their virtual jukebox. Definitely coming back :)

This place is not the best spot to eat in Hoboken. There are tons of places to eat, however, if you need a very late night, after midnight, sit down food. I would say, this place is your few options still open. I got the spicy Houston burger, which is ok, not good, I also got their chili cheese burger, which was ok. Like I said, if you are hungry after mid-night and need a sit down in Hoboken, come here. However, if you want good fast food late night, drive 20 mins from Hoboken to Banana King. We need Banana King in Hoboken.

The food was so good. They had great vegan options, which I appreciate with severe allergies. The server, Lily was so sweet and fast. She got us everything we needed. The vibe was great just like when I was a kid.

The good was great, Delvon always delivers the best burger! My server Soulay did an outstanding job, super polite and made my experience very memorable.

Very nice staff here! I love getting the chili dog. Fast service and food comes out hot as always. 4 stars because a few flies were in the way of me eating. We received a coupon for next visit, which I really appreciated. They also now have vegan milkshakes, which I also appreciated!

I literally walked in confused because no one greeted me or told me how to order. Then someone in the kitchen said "you can sit down wherever". They were playing explicit music like ice spice and stuff that doesn't match whatever 50's vibe they are going for. We sat down for 8 min before someone dropped a menu on our table and walked away. Then we waited 15 more minutes for someone to even try to talk to us. Some person walked by and said "your server is coming" because they saw us just ready to order and sitting and waiting like forever. Then finally someone came over and I asked if we could order food to go. They said oh you can just order up front. Then they took away our menus and asked us to stand in the line of people who we got there before who also still not had anyone come and talk to them. No one was obviously going to take our order without us begging and no one seemed to care that we were there so we left. What a god damn waste of time and some of the worst service I've ever had.

This place is wack. My boyfriend and I ordered two side garden salads and every ingredient in it was old. Then when the waitress returned the salads to the open kitchen and told her coworkers what happened, I heard one of them respond "they are old, old as hell" so why the f*ck would you serve it?! I'm beyond frustrated. The second salad they brought to compensate for the first looked like they just added a few fresher leaves to the first old salad. Honestly the salad has me questioning how "fresh" all of their other items are. I know it's a franchise but I have experienced fresher salads at burger king and mcdonalds than I have at this sit down establishment. The cheesesteak had 0 flavor, I have never experienced something with bell peppers to not even have the taste of bell peppers. As for the rocket burger, it was waaayy too oily. The buns were burnt (and burnt is an understatement) and they served the END OF THE TOMATOES). The only somewhat pleasant thing that we consumed here were the fries and onion rings. One star is generous for this location.

An employee emptied THREE trash cans then grabbed my burger and served it to me. Seriously?! WARNING: They are serving #CrossContamination!!!

Johnny Rockets is a Americana/Burger chain that due to its cliché 50's theme is big in touristy locations. Hoboken's formerly famous (think Sinatra) downtown area being one of these. You'll also find them on cruise ships, casinos, etc. The good: Good American style comfort/fast food that us uniform throughout the chain. If you like it in Hoboken you'll like it on Royal Caribbean cruise ships and a casino in Atlantic City. The occasional break where the staff gathers and dances to a fifties or early sixties time is cute THE FIRST TIME you see it. After that you just wish they'd bring you your cheese burger and fries (actually, I'm partial to the tuna salad there). The bad: There is massive turn over in these places among the staff, including management. So service is not uniform. Even at the same location. From current reviews at this location they seem to be in a bad service rut. It might change in a couple of months when new staff is hired as others go back to high school and college. The pricing in Hoboken has gone total Manhattan since it's gentrification/yuppie days. Add the fact that Johnny Rockets is geared toward the tourist crowd and you know it's not cheap. It's not overly expensive for the area though. It's all subject to the cost of living premium of the Greater NYC area. Parking in the area is HORRIBLE. Downtown Hoboken is notoriously bad. Best to park outside the area and walk or Uber in to shop or walk about.

I had the worst experience today ever. I walked in it was like a ghost town nobody was there so we decided to stay anyway at least we wont be wait for the food long yea right we are a family of 6 we all placed an order time came and 5 plates come to us waiter apologize that my daugthers plate wasnt made so he said it we be right out in 10 min okay. That was 1 now we all received an order of fries that was ice cold so cold it was like they was made hours ago and my daugther went to bite her sandwich and realized there was no top to her burger lmao now the soda i guess they didnt run the lines the soda was flat as all hell or gordan ramsey will so bloody hell. No need to complain because we wont be going back ever again. This was brutal bad bad. We left are fries there and drinks alone this was bad i remember this place was a gold mine not anymore.
