Avoid this location!!! Terrible square pizza This is the uncooked pizza I purchased below the toppings. It’s not cheese you see in the pic that’s the actual dough. This is the dough that is not cooked when biting into it. It was like a wet mat of salt when I tried to call back to explain the pizza that I asked to be well, done was not cooked in the top was completely doughy. Nobody answered or picked up. The following morning today at 11 AM I called and a gentleman claiming to be the owner picked up. Arrogantly wouldn’t even listen to the Problem took a very arrogant posture towards me, trying to explain the situation obviously I have the pizza still because taking one bite out of it. It was so horrible. I couldn’t imagine swallowing it. Peeling back the cheese we discovered the pizza wasn’t even cooked. It’s a 35 minute round-trip for me to drive to this pizza location from my home instead of offering to have a new one delivered pick up the old pizza … Owner just began barking at me on the phone very arrogantly instead of concerned about addressing the issue as if it was my fault they don’t cook their pizza that specifically requested “well done” We still have every single slice in the box and couldn’t eat it because it was so horrible biting into it. Everyone spit it back out. We will never visit this location again after our interaction with the owner when calling and explaining the situation, the tone is unbelievable arrogant.

Wanted to try another local pizza place in the SCS area. Pizza was hot and ready when I arrived to pick it up. I was in the mood for a round this evening. Pizza was okay. After a few days, the buttery crust is what I remember most. Glad I tried it but I will probably continue to try other places next time. Second day leftovers, not my favorite cold pizza and didn't reheat well in the microwave. Best to finish the day you bought it.

Awesome pizza! Got the gluten free crust (size large), with no cheese, lots of veggies, and light pizza sauce. The crust was crispy and sooo good! The pizza sauce was perfect -not too sweet or tangy. Veggies were fresh and perfectly portioned. Will definitely be ordering again. And I thought I'd never be able to eat pizza again due to dietary restrictions! My new favorite! Also, staff were very friendly and accommodating, both during ordering and pick-up.

Tried Johnny Zs for the first time a week ago and we already ordered again today. Quality ingredients, excellent sauce and perfect square pizza crust. If you know, you know. You can ask for it to be well done for extra crunch. They have vegan / plant based / dairy free options too, which is wonderful. Everyone loved their choices and we are happy we gave them a shot as they have bumped up to the top of the list of pizza 🍕 choices!

Went to try the plant based meat options and they didn't disappoint! I got a supreme style pizza with plant based sausage and pepperoni. I ate my first slice right at the counter while Johnny Z himself awaited the verdict, 4 slices later I looked up and said DAMN that's a good pie! Fresh buttery crust, fresh toppings, perfect sauce, whole milk mozzarella (perfect cheese pull) and the best plant based Italian sausage I've ever had. Johnny Z's also has a full assortment of Faygo sodas. Before I forget I'd like to give a honorable mention to the Dill Pickle pizza I tried, may not be for everybody but if you love pickles I suggest getting a small one to try it out. Johnny Z's is the real deal. Local family owned business that treats you like family as well. Salute to the Johnny and the whole crew, you guys are amazing just like the pizza!🍻

At first I made the order only because few people mentioned how fast the delivery is. We'll let me tell you it came 18 minutes earlier. We ordered a round Hawaiian. kids and I loved it.

Awesome that there's vegan options, but the pricing rubs me the wrong way. Competitor pizza places charge $1-$2 more for a vegan option of a pizza (5-10% more), if at all. It's $16.50 for a large pepperoni and sausage pizza from here. A vegan version of this costs $22, a 33% uncharge. This extra charge is pretty steep in comparison to other places I've been with the same options. From my own experience, it does not cost an extra $3 for some dairy free cheese. I understand paying the difference in cost, but I'd be willing to bet this place has better margins on a vegan cheese pizza than a traditional, with pricing like that. Food was great otherwise.

The Ultimate Birthday Feast at Johnny Z's Pizza! This weekend, we celebrated my baby's birthday, and all she wanted was pizza--so of course, we had to get the best! Johnny Z's Pizza did not disappoint. We've tried countless pizzas from all over, even up north, but hands down, Johnny Z's has the BEST square pizza in Michigan by miles. We went all out with: The Everything - packed with flavor and absolutely amazing The Bar-B-Que - smoky, tangy, and just perfect The Hawaiian - a must-have (and her favorite kind of pizza!) Each one was a hit! Even my chef husband, my foodie son, my daughter, and I couldn't pick a favorite--they were ALL that good. And let's not forget the wings! A full pound smothered in buffalo sauce--super meaty and beyond delicious. Worth every penny. If you haven't tried Johnny Z's yet, you're seriously missing out!

Great pizza. Always done on time when they tell you it'll be ready for pickup. I took off star because the cheese bread was over cooked. We've had it before where it's cooked and the cheese is soft and melty. This one was overcooked and the cheese was brown/burned.

Great non-greasy pizza! Tried this place while visiting some friends. Typically don't get pizza from a non-chain location but I'm glad we decided to give this place a try! The pizza was really good and not greasy. Typically pizza can be greasy but this one was not at all! We ordered for pick up and it took maybe 15 minutes for order 2 pizzas and bread to be ready!

Ordered a pizza before and it was pretty good- better then the local chain pizza. I ordered again today and it was terrible. However, what was worse is that I ordered wings and they were old and soggy. I am 10000% convinced they were yesterday's wings drown in sauce and delivered to me. I will never order from here again.

Great pizza! Ordered for delivery to make sure it traveled well. It was great! Their ranch is also almost as good as Jets! We got the round with old style pepperoni and it was the perfect balance. I'll definitely be ordering again!

I love the pizza from here! Always hot, the right blend of sauce, cheese, and toppings- and the portions are perfect! Very quick for pickup or delivery. They offer a wide variety of specialty pizzas, their crusts are phenomenal, and the ingredients are always fresh. It's a small venue, but not too small where it seems like a tuna can. Overall, quality pizza for SCS!

Ordered large pepperoni with extra cheese; wings with chilli sauce. Pizza was best in area; wings were juicy and full of flavor. The service was very simple and straightforward.

Seriously the best pizza I've ever had!! Super flavorful sauce and quality toppings, I ordered a large square, large round and a gluten free thinking way too much food for my small group of friends, not one slice left over. My husband and I ordered pizza from here because I decided I wanted to try pickle pizza. I had read reviews saying they had the best pickle pizza around, but I was not super impressed. I've never had it before so I don't know if I just don't like pickle pizza or if it's because I got it on cauliflower crust which I've also never had before, or if I just didn't like their pickle pizza and/or cauliflower pizza. However, I also tried the cheese sticks with garlic cream cheese and that was delicious. My husband also had a veggie pizza and said that was delicious. The food was ready when arrived to pick it up. The cashier was friendly and organized. I loved that they have free pizza coupons in the lobby for people who may not be able to pay for food.

I had a taste for pizza and I was curious as to where we should go. So we searched online for a place and came across Johnny Z's. We ordered an everything pizza online utilizing the website and it was pretty simple. I received my receipt and the approximate time of arrival for the pizza. So, the pizza arrives, early might I add by about 10min and it was still hot. We cracked it open and oh boy, I was impressed by the amount of toppings that was on it. It was definitely loaded and we were excited to try. First bite..... oh my! Sooooooo good! The best pizza I've had here in metro Detroit in a long time! It was just delicious. I can't say it enough that this place is timely and absolutely tasty. Looking forward to ordering from here again. If you haven't ordered or curious as to whether or not you should try it.... just do it ..... like Nike. You won't be disappointed.

Perfectly oven baked square pizza. Delicious cheese with just the correct topping ratio. Sauce was mild and super tasty. My new and only go to for now!!!!

Ordered a pickup order and was met with a short angry bald man that seemed offended when I walked in. Haven't tried the food, don't really care if its good or not. Guarantee there is better pizza around in less than 3 miles. Also ironic having signs that says be kind and your customer service is nothing of the sorts. I tried not to laugh when you threw my sauce at me lmao

Very disappointed with their customer service. My fiancé and I order from here all the time. I made an error on the ordering app and immediately called to have it fixed, and they said the pizza was already in the oven. Here was the error: I chose a round pizza instead of a square. I received my receipt at 8:28 pm and called at 8:28 pm -- literally seconds after (see photos of receipt and call log for proof). I spoke with a young lady, who after speaking with her manager hung up on me when she said there was nothing she could do. I called back and couldn't get through for 5 minutes. A young man finally answered and declined my request to change the pizza. And when I asked for a refund, he declined and said because the error was through the app and was MY error, there was nothing he could do. Honest customer mistakes happen, and a business that continually refuses to accommodate customers who decide to spend their hard-earned money on their product, won't be in business for long. My fiancé and I have been loyal customers for years but will not be returning or recommending this establishment to friends or family. Do better Johnny Z's. - Disappointed Former Loyal Customer -UPDATE- Just received the pizza I didn't want with my wings tossed in one sauce instead of two, like I actually ordered (see receipt). I know nothing of the pizza places in this area so looked for suggestion from fellow Yelpers and delicious looking pictures. What really sold me was the slogan " One thing. Done Well". That's a bold statement Johnny Z , let's do this. I ordered up a large square BBQ Chicken. Nice clean place with a great looking lobby. It smelled delicious when I opened that door and my hunger was large. I made it about 3 minutes down the road before I had to pull over and have a taste. Let's start with Toppings O Plenty. Large chunks of chicken, plenty of bacon and drizzled in BBQ sauce. Oh yeah, it was delicious. It wasn't greasy like other square pizzas I've had and I preferred it this way. I ate way too much, yep, One thing, Done Delicious. So if I'm driving thru Johnny's hood again I'm going to try some of his other offerings , it was really good.

The pizza and breadsticks were very tasty! The garlic cheese dip was fantastic. The cheese was perfectly melted with a decent amount of toppings and sauce. The bake of the pizza was just the right amount of toasty

Love this place I never feel sluggish or get heartburn for Johnny's and other places sometimes make me feel terrible after. Also the pickle pizza is pretty fire.

Easily the best pizza place in SCS. Customer service is always perfect and the food is always fantastic. I recommend this pizza place as often as I can.

So the kid and I were out doing some dad/daughter things when we decided to get some food. Seeing that her and I enjoy trying different non-chain pizza joints, we chose Johnny Z's. Even though the place is on a major roadway, a giant tree blocks the sign. Once you get past the giant tree quickly get into the turn lane or you might miss the parking lot. The parking lot is small but that doesn't really matter because you can't sit inside. With the COVID restrictions, Johnny Z's only allows you to come into the building when you are picking up your order. You must wear a mask nor can you wait inside. They also have a plexiglass barrier up at the counter. You have to order via phone and also pay with a credit card at the time of the order. We ordered a small cheese bread and medium cheese and pepperoni pizza; the pepperonis were the little pools of grease pepperoni also known as old fashioned pepperoni. As for the tipping sauce for the cheese bread we ended up with ranch and marinara sauce. The pizza was really good; cooked perfect not doughy with a little crunch on the crust. The sauce was a little spicy. The kind of spicy that invites you to take another bite but doesn't melt your face off. The pepperoni, well do I really need to talk about how awesome the little pepperonis of grease are. If you haven't tried them, you should, just might change your life forever. The cheese bread was blah, lacked seasoning and wasn't cooked all the way. Very doughy. I wouldn't get that a second time. A small has 12 slices. As far as the ranch and marinara sauce, both were good.

Bad service. And most of the time we have had good pizza and wings. Tonight ordered the same thing and they changed their garlic parmigiana from a white creamy sauce to a yellow like butter sauce. When taking it back they refused to give me my money back or remake the pizza and treated me horribly.

We ordered a free one topping pizza for having just moved into the neighbourhood. My wife tried asking for a 2nd topping that we would pay for the topping. The cashier said they couldn't do that because we were using a free coupon. So, we asked to speak to the manager. Some guy walks up to us and asks if he can help us. We asked if he was the manage and he replied, "I could be...?" Then he proceeds to say we either take the one topping pizza for free or we pay the full 2 topping price! Well Mr. 'I could be', we could be return customers....?

This place delivered my pizza on my neighbor's porch around the block that has the same address. I called the remedy it and they were very rude. I will never order from this place again

The pizza was great and fast delivery, especially since I ordered 8 pizzas! Everyone raved about the bbq chicken pizza, it was delicious.

Pricing is fair . Delivered 20 mins early . The dill pickle pizza & cheese bread was so delicious The ranch & garlic spread was excellent. Never had dill pizza & this was over the top great Mild & sweet ! Sooooo good and highly recommend . Do yourself a favor and order Johnny Z' s . Keep up the quality work .

We lived here for many years before trying this place and I don't know what stopped us. It is amazing, delicious pizza, definitely the best around. Incredible crust. My husband ordered the breadsticks once, I typically prefer cheese sticks and I'm not even a big bread person (especially on top of pizza which can be a carb overload), but now I'm hooked, they are incredible!

I kept wondering what all the hoopla was about over the last few months that I would read posts and hear people talking about Johnny Z's pizzeria. I start following them on Facebook and post after post people were raving about this pizza. So I decided to try it. Well the pizza I got was definitely up to par. The barbecue chicken pizza was absolutely delicious. Lots of sauce, lots of chicken, the whole 9 yards. Will definitely be back!!

My sister and I just ordered our first pizza from JohnnyZ's and was amazed at how good it was. She got the Hawaiian on Gluten free crust and I got the Meat Lovers. Both were excellent. Will be ordering again. Thank you so much.

Food was easy to order and was ready upon pickup. We got a large deep dish. It was ok but nothing we will go back for. The sauce had no flavor and crust was soggy.

Several months ago I was driving down Harper and noticed Johnny Z's. My Aunt lives less than a mile away and said she's never seen it before, let alone heard of it. I quickly jumped on Yelp to see the reviews were awesome! I had to try it sometime. Tonight was that night. My Aunt stopped over with two small pizzas, greek salad and large breadsticks. Total was around $27. Between the three of us, the food was plenty and we even had leftovers. What I loved the most was that the round pizza didn't have a ton of that extra crust that chain pizza joints have. You can actually indulge in the pizza without getting an awful stomach and feeling incredibly full. Johnny Z's uses fresh, quality ingredients but is able to keep the prices affordable. Definitely try the ranch dressing, whether it's with bread or have your pizza dipped in it. Actually you might want to just drink it. It's that good! All pizza is available in round and square. Thin crust available in medium and large. Gluten free available in large. In addition to pizza bread and salad, Johnny Z's also has grinders and wings too!

This pizza was really good. My family wanted some pizza but we didn't want to go to any of the chain restaurants. We gave this place a try & it was the best decision we've made. I ate way too much because it's so good. I would definitely recommend this place. We will definitely be returning on pizza nights. I'm excited to try other items on the menu.

Fantastico Pie done well! Family member stopped at this place to pick up a couple pies , the other day & WoW! Never thought I would have another option to Paisanos down the street . Will definitely be back again & again to patron this place for sure. Do not be intimidated or fooled by its "small" establishment of the building they are operating out of. This pizza is VERY Good!

I enjoyed it; my wife did not. She thought it was a typical pizza, nothing special. I enjoyed their sweet sauce. The fresh mushrooms are what irritated her. They seemed from frozen and were dry and tasteless.

this place is the bomb!! so freakin good. first amazing thing is that they offer dairy free cheese. I appreciate this so much since I am dairy free. pizza is incredible as well. absolutely love the cauliflower wings too. AND THEY HAVE VEGAN RANCH that's actually good! definitely one of the best vegan ranches i've ever had. i've been here twice already and can't wait to return. thank you johnny z's for having dairy free and vegan options!!

The pizza is delicious, But it is smaller than little Caesars. When they say a time to pick it up they mean it, it's ready to go right at that time.

Ordered carry out of a two toppings thin pizza, buffalo chicken wings and breadsticks. The prices are reasonable. We both thought that the pizza and breadsticks were good. We got cheese sauce with the breadsticks which had the consistency of sour cream and we really didn't like the taste. The chicken wings were just average. Overall, the pizza and breadsticks were good, but don't think we would order the wings again.

This place is decent in terms of pizza options in the area. We have a tried a few others and have landed on JZ's as the best (delivery) option. The pizza is tasty, decent options including customizable, and thankfully an online ordering and delivery service. My only complaint is that I am not particularly blown away by the taste, it's a bit on the greasy side, and they are expensive for what you get. In conclusion, this will be our SCS option for delivery but craft/in store locations offer higher quality ingredients, and less grease for roughly the same value.

Always better than the other big box pizza shops around town. Always love getting some Johnny Z's

First off, I truly understand that tastes are individual and subjective to the one doing the tasting/eating. Some prefer things sweeter or more spicy, tart or salty, hot or cold, etc... However, there are some things like Pizza that is very simple to assess. Crust, Sauce, Cheese, Toppings. Use fresh, high quality ingredients and you will be successful. There are many people that use Yelp and other reviews to find a place to eat or make a purchase. Now, I'm wondering why I bother. There were SO MANY 5-Star reviews for this place. So many that I wondered why I had never heard of Johnny Z's Pizza before. I will not be using any of the review sites including Yelp again. If I can't get an honest review, it's just a waste of time. One of the reviews said that this was the "Best Pizza in Metro Detroit"!!! This is quite a claim, but I could not overlook it. First, you would have to visit all of the pizza businesses in Metro Detroit. So I decided to give it a try. I work in St. Clair Shores every so often and was looking for something to bring back to my desk for lunch. PLEASE PEOPLE...if you can't give an HONEST review of the product, don't leave a review. This pizza isn't even the best pizza in St. Clair Shores since there is a Buscemi's, Domino's and a Sorento's near by. Then if you can say that this Johnny Z's crap is better than Buddy's, Detroit Pizza Bar, Loui's, Como's, Mama B's, Green Lantern, or Jet's...I'll come to the determination that you have no business reviewing pizza. Never had pizza from Johnny Z's before, so with a few choices in the area, I decided to try it. I love fresh made pizza with fresh ingredients and they all matter. From the crust, to the sauce and of course the toppings. Being a type 2 diabetic, I opt for thin crust pizza whenever it is available. So my FIRST (and last) order from Johnny Z's was pretty basic. I got a thin crust medium with old fashioned pepperoni. I picked it up, took it back to my office and opened the pizza box. What a disappointment. Imagine those frozen pizza crusts you find in the local grocery store. The hard, dried out, little holes punched in it, nasty pizza crusts that you expect from those places that advertise a quick, easy, grab it on the way home and feed the kids pizza. The sauce wasn't bad but the pepperoni topping was burnt and tasteless. So what I could have popped in and purchased for $5.00 at one of those easy Pizza Places...I paid $13.25 or and ate two pieces. It's GARBAGE and I guarantee that the 5 star reviews are family/friends or paid for. It's one of the worst pizza's I've ever had. I've had frozen super market pizza better than this.

Best pizza in the Shores hands down. I came here last year for the first time and the pizza was fine, worth the price for sure. But over the last year they really perfected their recipe. This is now the best pizza in the shores, hands down.

ZERO STARS. Bad business very very rude Bad customer service skills. I've been ordering from them every since they started selling vegan options, and I have got them a lot of other vegans customers to come to their restaurant because of me promoting and advertising their business. I have spent a total of $324.00 dollars with this establishment. Anyways I placed an order online today for a Pizza Sandwich paid $24.39 total with delivery and I tipped. I ordered the pizza sandwich previously twice with no problems. So I know how they supposed to look. I know mistakes can happen. I order pizzas from them all the time. I even tip every time I order from them. My order arrives 45 minutes later on time. My order was wrong with No pizza sauce on it. The pizza sandwich and the toppings where lesser then usually as well. So I called to speak to the manager the first young lady put me on hold, and "said she was in training let her get my manager for you". Her manager comes to the phone and I told her what happened she said hold on the line let her talk to her employees who made it. So I waited... She comes back to the phone 2 minutes later and says that her employee said that she did put the sauce on a pizza sandwich. I said why would I lie to you I'm a valuable customer there's no pizza sauce on here I wear eyeglasses but I can see clear as day there's no red sauce on it. What happened to customer service? I even took a picture of it I told her I can show you or bring it back to the restaurant. I asked could she replace it send out a new order to me or just credit me my money back to my debit card. The manager she said No and that she believes her employees did put the pizza sauce on there, and she cannot refund me my money. She also said I can never order from them again, and they also banned me from ordering online. I'm headed driving to Johnny Z's on my way there I called Saint Clair Shores police to meet me there, because I didn't want no confrontation with them. I've been living over here for 15 years and I never experienced nothing like this ever. The two police officers was the mediator for me and they told me to stay in my vehicle until they arrived, and I did everything the right way. The police went inside to handle it. I handed them my order box of food at the front door, and they showed the young lady at the counter and she was laughing and smirking about it with the officers. The police said since it's a private owned business there was nothing else they could do about it since they didn't want to give me my money back and the police said sorry, and they could see for themselves that I was right and the restaurant was totally wrong. The manager lady told the police I could never order from them again, and they will not make anything over even though they seen that they were wrongfully wrong, and I didn't lie the proof was right in there face. I didn't make no mistakes y'all did. How are y'all mad at me for y'all wrong doing. They gave the police officers a small cold cup of pizza sauce instead. I told the officers I don't even trust it. But what really pissed me off is they said that they didn't believe me and she believed her employees over me, and when the cops showed them the pizza sandwich. They didn't have the decency to say that they made a mistake and they didn't even apologize for being rude and disrespectful to me that's crazy. I spent so much money with this restaurant this is unbelievable the type of service I received today. Look at this pizza sandwich this is ridiculous. They didn't treat me like community family at all y'all need to change your slogan.

This spot is one of my favorites. They also preach of positivity and being nice to ALL humans, and I truly appreciate them. I actually heard of them only during Covid and haven't been able to stop going since. I love their pizza and their customer service is top notch. Under appreciated for sure. ThAnks for all y'all do!
