"South Providence’s popular Dominican chimi trucks were on the road long before food trucks had their own TV shows. The trucks specialize in chimi (short for chimichurri): Dominican beef, pork, or chicken burgers slathered with sauce and served on crusty Caribbean pan de agua. Johnny’s Chimi Place, opened by Ramon Morales in 1993, serves a version that stands out among competing sandos." - Jenna Pelletier

Been going here for over 13 years and they have never disappointed me. If you haven’t visited yet; trust me you are missing out. Usually i always got empanadas, potato meat filled balls, cassava meat filled balls, their chimi(like a dominican take on a burger) and their natural drinks and all are great. Recently i had their mofongo(mashed green plantains with condiments) with fried meat and it’s great!!! The meat was nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and the flavors were right on point as always! They do get busy so if their is a wait; trust me you won’t regret it.

My experience at Johnny's was great, the food is served fresh and the wait is short, the taste is amazing, the chin is are bomb, and the wings are some of the best I have tasted, not to mention the costumer service was also great, I mean they def are on point with everything!!!

I ordered a Yaroa of sweet plantains and chicken, the food was full of oil, not tasty, messy and even looked like the plantains were fried in a old oil because I found fried chicken on the sweet plantains. I couldn’t even eat it, it was gross to even eat

Broad St doesn’t lack options to grab some Dominican food, but Johnny’s Chimi is one of the best. Used to be a food truck, now it has a more permanent location up on the side way with a cover of its raining and plenty of booth seating if you want to eat there. They have a large selection of frituras and chimis, along with a few other sandwiches and natural juices. Great place to stop for something to eat if you’re out on Broad St.

Got a crispy chicken combo; chicken was dry, but the sauce helped it out. Pernil chimi was the best. Thank you for the pastelitos! Chicken and ham+cheese, both were great but the chicken was best. Love the new permanent spot, we worried when we didn't see the truck! Best meal on Broad St!! $20 for 2 people The point of sale machine didn't give us a way to tip, so bring a few extra bucks with you!

Have had excellent food here before but not last night. Bland, sub par all around. Salt goes a long way. Will be back though b/c in summer it’s excellent. The fireplace does nothing to keep warm and it’s not their fault it was so cold out.

It was my first time visiting the food truck. I will most definitely be back. We got a crispy chicken chimi with bacon, it was delicious. We also got meat pies, pizza pies, yucca and cheese balls, yucca and chicken balls and plantains. Everything was great. The chicken wings and pork chops looked on point. Next time I go back, I will try them and leave another review. The woman working the window was pleasant and worked quickly. They kept the line moving steady. The kitchen kept the food coming out steady. You can tell they are experienced and work well together. If you haven't tried Johnny's, what are you waiting for? This place is great.
