The 33 Best Restaurants in Providence, Rhode Island - Eater
"South Providence’s popular Dominican chimi trucks were on the road long before food trucks had their own TV shows. The trucks specialize in chimi (short for chimichurri): Dominican beef, pork, or chicken burgers slathered with sauce and served on crusty Caribbean pan de agua. Johnny’s Chimi Place, opened by Ramon Morales in 1993, serves a version that stands out among competing sandos." - Jenna Pelletier
I always order from this spot on Uber Eats. I never had a problem asking for extra onions to replace the cheese because they don’t have an option to charge for extra items. Today I get my order and someone wrote I need to pay to get extra onions and when I called they didn’t even try to figure out who wrote. Also my food was very gritty for the first time like the grill was not clean every bite I took tasted disgusting and old. I never had a problem until today. Fix the app and don’t get mad at the customer for your company not having extra options on the app. The food here is amazing but that customer service is trash. Pretty sure the guy I was on the phone with is not going to call back. Im done with this place. I’m not picky but I hate horrible customer service when especially ordering here in person and on mobile apps.

I ordered a monfongo and they did not give me the salsa al ajillo. Very dry no flavor.

Been going here for over 13 years and they have never disappointed me. If you haven’t visited yet; trust me you are missing out. Usually i always got empanadas, potato meat filled balls, cassava meat filled balls, their chimi(like a dominican take on a burger) and their natural drinks and all are great. Recently i had their mofongo(mashed green plantains with condiments) with fried meat and it’s great!!! The meat was nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and the flavors were right on point as always! They do get busy so if their is a wait; trust me you won’t regret it.

I came back here a second time my food took maybe 10 minutes to get ready. The staff felt that was too long and gave me extra food for free. Extremely friendly delicious place. I’ll always come back here when I’m in Providence.

Absolutely disgusting! The food was beyond terrible—no quality whatsoever. Everything tasted off, like it had been sitting out for hours. Honestly, I wouldn’t eat here again if it was the last place on Earth. Ridiculous and unacceptable! Avoid at all costs!

Yelp
4 dollars per Chimi's......best 4 dollars I've spent yet. This place is a food truck, one of many, but of the better ones. You'll find other food truck on the same street. Make sure to have cash. Oh, and their pinchos run out quick.

Yelp
Long wait and the food is super dry!!! I ordered a regular chimi and there was more bread then meat. The meat was super thin and it taste more like a hamburger patty then steak!!!! Will not be going there again!!!

Yelp
Chimis are amazinggggggg! Beef carne frita is beautifully crunchy and salty and deliciously fatty. Ahh the best late night spot if youre ever in the south.
