The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck Arrives in Las Vegas November 13 | Eater Vegas

"I learned that Johnny’s Mexican Kitchen has reopened as a custom $50,000 food truck called Johnny’s Express in the parking lot of its former brick-and-mortar, serving many of the same dishes as the original; the restaurant was originally opened by Emory Aragon’s parents 40 years ago on Mills Street, moved three years later to 717 Grand Avenue where it stayed until Aragon permanently closed it in March 2020 after the governor ordered non-essential businesses closed, and the new Johnny’s Express is open 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday." - Stephanie Carter

This odd such an excellent place to eat. The food is reliably delicious and the servers are courteous and welcoming. We went on Christmas Eve and they never once rushed us or made us feel in the way my sister had the ground beef tacos with a side of french fries, my husband had the Menudo, and I had my all time fave!-the ohh so delicious chicharrone Frito pie! My husband and I also shared a yummy chile relleno.

This place is a gem. We stop here every time we drive down to see Nana in NM. The red chile is the best I’ve ever had. The sopapillas are perfect. They is the real deal for New Mexican food.

Stopped in about a year ago. I thought it was a fantastic place! Today was the first time I've been back since. Johnny's didnt seem as I rememberd. Did Mgmt or a cook change in the past year? Salsa portion & serving can Pepsi was comical, gave me a nice chuckle! Sopa was flat as a fried tortilla. Tortilla was extra tiny, 2 bites & it was gone. The food was ok.

Great find! Low key, no frills. Indian taco was hearty and flavorful. Go with the ground beef or shredded beef, as the chicken was a little bland. When the server asks whether you want red or green chili, just say "yes, please!" Got both red and green chili on the side which has a slow heat that sneaks up on you, but not too overwhelming. Red chili was a little smoother, while the green chili had more up front flavor. The stuffed sopapilla was enough for both of us to share and excellent with the carne adovada. The rice was also a delicious surprise (almost a meal in itself), as was the posole which was hominy heavy-which I am partial to. Service was friendly and efficient.

Food is delicious and the family owned and operated service is outstanding...they really do put the "MMM in New Mexico"

My omelette was burned. See photo for that and what was left of my daughter's burrito after she took out the potatoes. The menu mentioned nothing about potatoes inside the burrito. Not worth the $7+. The only reason I'm not giving 1 star is that my husband liked his Matador omelette, which wasn't burned.

One of the few restaurants open on New Year’s Day! Got the dirty tacos with shredded beef. The tacos were flavorful and I got my hands oily. Pricing and portion size are well priced and decently sized. I’d come back again if I’m ever in the area.

Shockingly enough, this place had that savory New Mexican food that I had wanted all weekend. We were on our way back to Denver from Santa Fe and randomly picked this place for lunch. Pretty small inside, maybe 20 tables, plus a patio space. The decor was really fun with lots of memorabilia, license plates, figurines, pottery, etc. But onto the food. I got a small combo plate (1 enchilada, 1 taco, rice and beans) and the boyfriend got the medium combo plate (same but an extra enchilada). The enchiladas were stuffed full of cheese and both chili sauces were fantastic. The tacos were scrumptious. The boyfriend said they were so good, he'd wished he'd gotten the taco plate. The orders don't come with salsa, but instead sopapillas. I had two...and a half. Service was speedy, pleasant, and attentive. Which is good considering it was lunch time on a Monday and the place was about half full. Definitely a great little gem. We'll be sure to stop here on our next trip down to Santa Fe.

Yelp
When you drive down Grand Avenue it is hard not to see the Johnny's Kitchen. For me it is as iconic as the cowgirl welcoming all to Calumet. From 7:30 - 12:30 you can catch the green trailer with a blazing red chile on wheels and indulge in this vegas tradition! For my first visit today, I ordered a Juicy Lucy. I was intrigued by the Jalapeño Crema and Green Chile Queso on the menu. I asked for the Jalepeno Crema on my sandwich and the side of the queso to dip my fries in. No doubt the ingredients are hand cut and fresh! The Texas Toast was lightly buttered and has a texture that melded with the patty. The crema was mild and satisfying. The fries were cut a bit thinner and bit less crisp than I prefer, but they were seasoned tastily and complimented the queso well. Check out their social media game on FB/IG/TkTk/Youtube !

Yelp
*the most comprehensive menu you'll ever find on a food truck/trailer* Ahhh Johnny's Express... Friendly, fresh, fast, fiery, and fun! Get a load of those Tecolote Fries (or as I call 'em Norteno Poutine), and tell the Boys Mitch sent ya!
