My wife and I decided to take my mother out for brunch before heading to the Three County Fair. Having been here before, we knew we would get a good variety of options. It did not disappoint.
It was move in weekend for the local colleges and we were expecting to wait for a table. Luckily we came at the right time and were seated immediately. The place was pretty full and more people were trickling in after us. By the time we left, there were several groups waiting for a table.
Our server, Grace, promptly came to the table and set us up with coffee. After taking our orders, we waited a short time for the food. My wife ordered the "I'm Poor", my mom ordered the "Hash Plate", and I ordered the "Hash Bennie".
My wife was very pleased with her dish. The eggs were perfectly over easy, the home fries (homies) were nicely browned, and the toast was nice and toasted on the outside but still soft on the inside. Good texture contrast. The star was the ham. Smokey, savory, and delicious. She ate everything.
My mom loved the Hash Plate. The eggs, once again, perfectly over easy, and the toast was toasty and soft. She hadn't had hash in a while and was very pleased with it. She wasn't a fan of the homies but that was her personal preference.
My Hash Benedict was great. The eggs were poached perfectly. Gooey on the inside and nice and tender. The hollandaise was creamy and rich. English muffins were toasted perfectly to make a perfect foundation for this dish.
The star of the show was the hash. It is homemade corned beef. It was nice and tender with a great crisp on it. Very hearty and a very ample portion. I destroyed that thing and would have eaten more if I had another stomach.
The place was very clean. Tables were bussed frequently. No crumby or grimy floor. Decor was quaint and understated. The bathrooms were very clean.
Service was great and well paced. Grace was pleasant and polite. Checked in a few times but never overbearing. She was also very prompt with any requests we had (water, refills, check, etc...).
Price wise, I thought they were fair. For the proportions, I found it to be quite reasonable. I saw another review that mentioned the coffee price. It didn't seem out of place for me. I would rather pay what I paid for it here than at one of the national chains. It was a good, strong cup of Joe that you expect at a diner.
This was an excellent experience. We have not been let down on any of our visits here. Great atmosphere, great service, and delicious food. Can't recommend it any higher.
