JoJu

I was excited to try this place as I saw a huge line for it the day before, but I was very disappointed with the food. I tried a grilled pork bowl which looked unappetizing to begin with and tasted even worse. Also, the rice texture was off, as if it were undercooked. I felt the caramel pork banh mi sandwich was just as underwhelming as the bowl. The bread was not tasty and the pork flavor was not for me. I also had the JoJu fries which were okay. The Vietnamese iced coffee was mediocre. The restaurant was really clean and had a nice aesthetic which I appreciated. The employees were patient, seemed lovely, and were happy to take my order. Unfortunately, JoJu was not my cup of tea and will not be returning. These opinions are my own and I mean absolutely no hate towards JoJu!

Stopped by for their soft opening this week and ordered the JoJu Monster and Kimchi Fries. The inside was clean and bright, with a couple of 2 person tables. The JoJu Monster was a mediocre banh mi , I asked for the egg medium and it was overcooked. The carrots/daikon overpowered any other flavor, and I didn’t taste any mayo. I was never prompted for a spicy level which is partially on me, but definitely need some jalapenos. Kimchi fries were decent, a lot of kimchi, it was mild as stated. Fries were still crispy after a 15 minute walk. Good price as well, but it’s right next to 7th St so I don’t think I’d come here just for the fries. I might give them one more try since this is their soft opening, but Vietnaam a couple blocks up has much better banh mi and they’re cheaper too.

Great addition to the neighborhood. We have many pho places but im always looking for a great Bahn mi. Solid selection. The bowls were also delish! I thought they would have some hiccups during the soft opening but they got my order perfect like pros.

The beef bulgogi banh mi and kimchi fries are to die for. Ambiance is great with a neighborhood feel, staff are friendly and helpful, and the lemon ginger drink was super refreshing. A great addition to the UES Asian food scene!

I recently tried the BBQ pork Vietnamese sandwich, and it was absolutely incredible! The pork was perfectly seasoned, tender, and had just the right amount of smokiness. The flavors were perfectly balanced with a crunchy baguette, fresh veggies, and a tangy pickled daikon and carrot slaw. Each bite was a delicious burst of savory, sweet, and tangy goodness. The sandwich was fresh, satisfying, and totally addictive. I can’t wait to have it again! Highly recommend for anyone craving a delicious and authentic Vietnamese sandwich!

Lemongrass chicken bowl was incredible and the JoJu fries are a must try! What truly stood out though, was Will the owner - he went out of his way to greet every guest with warmth and genuine hospitality. He really made us feel like we were part of the JoJu family!

Really great new bahn mi spot. Ordered the lemongrass chicken sandwich and it was epic!
