"Steps away from Notch Brewing’s session beer-focused taproom in Salem, Massachusetts, get a different kind of buzz at Jolie Tea Company’s original Derby Street location. Settle onto a plush teal bench seat inside for a flight of teas beautifully paired with a trio of macarons. The chic shop also serves high tea by reservation and cocktail-inspired iced teas like the green fairy — a vibrant green tea akin to absinthe with subtle notes of anise — in coupe glasses alongside a full carafe. With 300 teas and dozens of treats from which to choose, Jolie is a welcome respite after touring Salem’s top attractions like the nearby House of Seven Gables. Find a second location of the charming teahouse in Beverly, Massachusetts." - Stasia Brewczynski

I took my sister to Jolie for high tea to celebrate her birthday and it was absolutely perfect! We chose the $48 per person Catherine High Tea and loved every moment. The strawberry mocktail to start was a refreshing treat, and the tea menu was impressively extensive, offering so many unique options to explore. The food was delightful, but the raspberry macaron was a standout—I wish I had taken a few more to go! Afterward, we enjoyed selecting loose leaf tea at the counter, getting to smell and discuss different varieties before bringing some home with us! High tea is a cherished tradition in our family and while we often visit spots in Boston, Jolie in Salem was so wonderful—we'll definitely be returning!

From their small place next to the Hawthorne Hotel to their latest place on Derby, I have always loved the atmosphere that this tea shoppe creates. Enough so that it has genuinely inspired parts of my next book. Over the years, I have tried various teas from their menu and have never tasted a bad one, nor a bad treat from their pastry case. The hibiscus blend will always have a special place in my heart though! Thank you for all the wonderful blends, I will do my best to taste through as many as I can! ♥️

We came here years ago and really enjoyed it, but this time we had a terrible high tea experience. Service was awful - there were lots of staff, but all were chatting to each other and ignoring customers. Getting milk for the tea, the next course, etc required repeatedly going up to ask. Tea was served in plain coffee mugs, which in addition to the poor service, made it not feel special at all. Food and tea was okay but way overpriced for the experience. Would not recommend.

They have so many varieties of teas and all of the ones I have tried are so good. Their pastries are also so worth it. It does get packed and it may be hard to find a table. I also think they could improve the ambiance.

SO FREAKING CUTE! This place is out of book! It’s expertly decorated and the entire atmosphere is whimsical, cute and fun. Don’t worry if you don’t know a lot about tea (I do not) as their staff will guide you through the selection process. The tea list is FULL of flavors, some that you can purchase as loose leaf, and no matter your preference, there is a tea for you. We sampled a mango passion and a rose hip hibiscus and both were delectable. I sampled some of the chocolate chip cookies and they were dense and delicious. The only issue we experienced was the staff forgot our ticket and we say there waiting for about a half hour. Thankfully a server noticed and took care of everything, but mistakes happen and we loved every second of the experience. We will DEFINITELY be back!

As a tea enthusiast and someone who loves afternoon tea, this is one of my favorite places by far. Despite us being late for our reservation, they were very kind and accommodating to us. Our server was very sweet and helpful, giving us recommendations for tea based on our preferred flavor profiles. The store itself has SO MANY tea varieties, and while the tea menu for the high tea reservation was limited, it was still a huge selection with an emphasis on black teas. The food and pastries were also very yummy and not too heavy. The sandwiches were very bite-sized and the meal as a whole was a light meal that's focused heavily on desserts. If you're not a desserts/sweets person or you're looking for a meal more substantial and filling, then maybe do the Lunch instead. UPDATE: I have visited again recently and it’s still just as amazing. Staff are so nice and helpful and this time I tried the tea flight which was delicious! So many options to choose from.

This is a delightful spot to enjoy tea and macaroons. All cookies are freshly made on-site, adding to the lovely atmosphere. The interior of the teahouse is quite small, which only enhances its old-school charm. They also have another location in Beverly, Massachusetts, which I have not visited, so I can't comment on its size or interior. I recommend checking out their website for more information. If you have any questions, feel free to contact them. They offer high tea and host private events as well. You can choose from a great variety of loose-leaf teas displayed at their "tea bar," and browse the counter filled with macaroons and other delightful treats. It’s simply elegant and guaranteed to bring out the girly girl inside you.

Let me start by saying this place is cute and the tea was very good, but if you want to eat, go somewhere else. I was so excited to try this place since it got good reviews, but alas, I was terribly disappointed. The prix fixed lunch isn’t cheap ($40 for tea, 1 entree item and a small dessert), and the food was subpar. The salad dressing was extremely oily, the tartine was flavorless, and the quiche was meh. The macarons were cute and tasted ok, but the consistency was way off. Very thick/chewy, not light and fluffy. The amuse bouche was odd too - an aioli with 2 crostini, so basically a tablespoon of mayo. Again, I’m just really bummed it wasn’t the quality I expected. Go for tea, don’t bother with the rest.
