Filipino Chicken Chain Jollibee Purchases the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf | Eater

"A highly popular Filipino fried-chicken chain with a devoted fan base, it has been expanding via acquisitions as part of a diversification strategy: after buying a burger chain in 2018, it recently paid $350 million for a California-based coffee chain to gain access to a large, profitable network of locations—especially across Asia—aimed at accelerating growth and increasing revenue outside its core market." - Tim Forster

Our favourite in the Philippines so it was a no brainer when we are in LA that we had to come and eat at Jollibees as we don't have a store in Sydney. The chicken joy is our go to with their delicious gravy and spaghetti and adobo rice. Added bonus is having red ribbon right next door!

Google
Filipino fried chicken gives American fried chicken a run for its money. The chicken has crispy skin and moist, tender meat, putting its competitors to shame. The Jolly Spaghetti is sweet, cheesy, and delicious. And the mango peach pie is so yummy. Some may disagree with me, but I think the Yum Burger is really good too. Sometimes when I don’t want fried chicken, I will order the Yum Burger. The service is hit or miss sometimes. Most times I will be able to just grab and go, but a few times I will be asked to park and wait a long for my order. They are always apologetic when this happens and offer additional free items as compensation, which I appreciate. Vibes are good. A respectable Jollibee with honest employees and good food.

The last 2 visit was great but not today, Grab some take away order and Venessa is such an amazing cashier helping us out with our order and we asked for some modification but she did asked the manager named CLAIRE which is I think not well trained enough how to talk in a polite way and professional way. We can literally hear her being rude and talking bad about making us look stupid with our small request. Unacceptable!

Google
The service was quick and good! The place was clean! The chicken was super greasy and tbh, I know this is just my opinion but… the spaghetti with the ketchup… it’s not the business for people not used to it. It’s a good experience but didn’t do it for me! So sorry!

Google
It was a 1st time for me. last night, I ordered (Spicy chicken sandwich, Spaghetti, Gravy&Mashed potato, and Palabok w/2pieces of chicken) Everything were good except the fries (pls check the photos that I uploaded). There were burned particles here and there ; ((

I always go here when i'm in LA the food is great and the staff are friendly. Maybe less greetings when poeple come in and out. It's nice but sometimes it's too much, it felt like in a market place lol

Google
I can see why the reviews for this chain are very positive. The Fried chicken and side taste great and were served hot by a friendly staff. Jollibee is similar to other fries chicken chain restaurants, perhaps with better gravy than most. There is lots of competition in this area and can't say that this is exceptional, but it is good and I could see why this would hit the spot for many people.

Google
Came here for a quick take out. There’s a fine gentleman who I think maybe the manager who greets and cleans up the tables. It’s a busy day, servers/crew were very busy but they managed to balance the work. Overall, I was pleased. Will come back when craving for fried chicken.

Yelp
I love Jollibee! I have only done takeout or delivery, but last week I ate here with my husband. He asked what I wanted for lunch on my birthday and I wanted chicken! This place is really clean and the employees are awesome! I had my usual, spicy 2 piece ChickenJoy meal, with mashed potatoes and Adobo rice, which is an upcharge. Their chicken is literally the best fast food fried chicken around, it's soooo flavorful, juicy, and not too spicy. The skin always has he perfect crunch to it. I LOVE their gravy and rice. Seriously obsessed with the rice! My husband got a burger, which he had never tried. The Angus Deluxe Burger was also one of the best fast food burgers we have had! I know I will always stick to chicken here, but good to know the burger is equally as good! Fries aren't anything special, but the other items make up for that.

Yelp
First off, this was my first time at a Jollibee. I knew they existed but never felt compelled to go but recently POVHusband picked Jollibee fried chicken as the best in a blind taste test and then Joshua Weisman rated them super high as well, and both over Popeyes?!? That put them on my radar. Today Weisman released his video of him working at a Jollibee and I was really impressed by what was happening in the kitchen and the food that was coming out and I decided it was time; I had to try it. Plus Uncle Rodger has a cameo as a customer. This was the closest one to me but was still over 5 miles away. I had to take 2 freeways to get there. I order online and create a new account and BONUS, get a $10 of $45 coupon. I'm ordering for a family of three and want some variety so I hit $45 pretty easily. Ordered at 6:50 pm with a pick up time set at 7:30 so I'm all set. Im in route and at 7:21 I get a text saying order is going to the kitchen and I'll get a text when it's ready. In the Weisman video he had 8 minutes to have Uncle Rodger's order ready and did it in 7 so the timing looks perfect. Sweet. 7:30 despite not getting a text saying my order was ready, I go to the counter to inquire. The kid says it's gonna be another 15 minutes because there are a ton of orders. And there were. The machine just keeps spitting out ticket after ticket. The poor kid was doing his best. Everyone was. So I say ok and sit and wait. 7:45 I go back up and ask if it's ready. Same kid tells me it'll be another 20-30 minutes, tickets still pouring out of the machine. I get a little aggravated and said 15 minutes ago you told me 15 minutes, now it's another 20-30? Ann behind the counter hears this and grabs my ticket and starts getting my order together. The kid apologizes and tells me they'll get my order right now. A few minutes later I'm out the door with my food and many more apologies for the wait. Let me be clear: everyone was working their butts off making food and preparing orders. It just seemed like there needed to be some process refinement. The people ordering at the counter and drive thru seemed to be getting their orders timely so I'm not sure why the mobile orders were so delayed. Maybe have every working on all the orders at the same time or turn off mobile orders or have a realistic ETA of when the order will be ready. There is something not working in the procedure. But damn it if POVHusband and Joshua Weisman weren't right: their fried chicken was amazing. So crispy and flavorful. I also got a deluxe spicy chicken sandwich and cheeseburger after seeing JW make them in his video and while they didn't look as big as the ones he made, they were pretty darn good. The hamburger steaks were REALLY good, better than the actual Angus burger so not sure what's going on there, think it's the gravy. Adobo rice and mashed potatoes were great too. Chicken tenders, meh, can take them or leave them. Pass on the peach mango pie, that's something you love because you were raised on them, I think. If it weren't for Ann and the food being really good, this first visit might have been my last. These problems should not be hard to fix, they just have to put attention to them. Until then, order at the store, particularly during peak hours, is my suggestion.

Yelp
Food always great as I remember living in OC area. However I'm not sure what manager / shift leader they changed to at least for day I went, but I arrived 20 minutes earlier than pick up time and talked with an employee showing her my receipt(logged onto the jolibee rewards.) The employee seemed to understand the situation as by then it was 15 minutes before and started making my order. But later this shift leader I'm assuming- came out saying no because I cancelled an online order I placed prior to this (5 minutes before second one was placed), which was because I accidentally added a wrong item. Whats most ridiculous is that she just stopped the employee from making my order when it could be made, wait for it to print and handed to me. Her attitude was just not it for front of store employee. She even took my phone to the manager in the back(who never even came out to front) and said no. Order receipt for online was printed on their POS 6 minutes before the actual pick up time. Why allow drive thru if your orders print so close to pick up time? Do you expect us to take a circle around to get into drive thru until it prints? Not sure what to say. Definitely same food but not as great customer service from online orders. FYI- I picked up my food 4-5 minutes after the scheduled time when I even arrived 15 minutes earlier. Going to different one after today. I hope either their online order POS prints earlier, or dont even do it. Whats the point of scheduled when it waste my time more

Yelp
Haven't had Jollibee for a while so I ordered it for delivery. It arrived nice and hot. Chicken was perfectly crispy and had great flavor with and without the gravy. The rice was amazing too. The coffee was pretty good too! I can't get enough of this chicken! It's so good!

Yelp
I can't help but just love Jollibees chicken. Between this location in Anaheim and the one in Irvine, I just simply go there for the food. Their chicken is always tender inside, and crispy outside and I just can't get enough of it. The 10 piece bucket is a great deal since it comes with 3 sides and the delicious gravy. I usually always have to get the adobo rice even though it's a premium side it's worth it. Fries and spaghetti are usually the other 2. This location has a large seating area and a drive thru as well which is a plus if you're in a rush to just grab and go. My rating is solely on their delicious food. It's definitely one of the best fast food chicken places and if you haven't had it, you're missing out. I like my chicken usually spicy here but I always get a mix of the original and spicy.

Yelp
We had chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, spaghetti, and the dessert pies. Everything was really good, and I have to say that chicken joy might be better than Popeyes. The service was quick and thorough. The restaurant was crowded, but we managed to find seating. They gave balloons to the kids. Definitely stop by for lunch or dinner. The drinks are good too. Refreshing in the summer.

Yelp
EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK! I'm extremely disappointed and disgusted with my recent order from this restaurant. I ordered fried chicken, and to my shock, I discovered what appeared to be WORMS inside the chicken after taking a closer look. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about food safety and hygiene practices in this establishment. Not only is this a major health hazard, but it also shows a complete lack of quality control in the kitchen. I've lost all trust in this restaurant and will never be returning. I strongly urge management to take immediate corrective action to ensure this never happens again. Cerben the Manager from this location reply to my feedback: A refund has been issued. "We are using pressure fryers for all the chicken with temperature of 375 F and we follow standard operating procedures to ensure food safety at all times." It seems like its just a bunch of excuses and I have not heard anything back from corporate when I sent them an email and it has been already a week. The photos below were taken July 21. If you care about your health and safety, I recommend avoiding this place until they can prove their food handling and cleanliness standards are up to par.

Yelp
Really poor management, useless drive thru, had to pull in somewhere and wait 15+ minutes just for 2 sandwiches and wasn't even busy. So much for fast food. On top of that THEY GOT MY ORDER COMPLETELY WRONG, tried to call the branch to discuss this issue but the phone line basically useless and reaching nowhere!!!

Yelp
Coming here when I've got a craving for fried chicken has never steered me wrong. Staff is always very nice and welcoming. Service is quick, and the food is always served hot. There is plenty of indoor seating. The interior, including two single stall restrooms, is kept clean. The immediate parking lot is small, but there is a larger lot surrounding the building they're in. They also have a drive thru. Even when busy, the noise level remains moderate. They have plenty of food options, including fried chicken and rice, Filipino spaghetti, and burgers. Tip: dip the skin of the fried chicken in the gravy and eat it with rice (with your hands of course!), and you'll never go back. Everything is flavorful and not too oily. I don't recommend the palabok, as it is a little more watery than what I am accustomed to at home. They offer fountain drinks and some specialty drinks as well. Prices are fair for meals, but slightly expensive for singular sides. If you want something sweet, definitely try their peach mango pie. Or, you can visit the Red Ribbon Bakery that's inside the restaurant.

Yelp
The service was impeccable! Quick and friendly, the price was right and I was blown away by the chicken joy and gravy!!! Also the pineapple quencher was fire! We will be back when we return to Disneyland.

Yelp
Still great fried chicken and quick service. I used the drive thru today. Just 2 ahead of me and it didn't take any time. The ones ahead must have had a quick order like mine

Veronica R.

Yelp
I love coming here always! Claire made sure my order was exactly correct and had the sweetest attitude serving us! We will be back thank you. :)

Yelp
Always a wait here. The chicken sells out all the time so there is a wait. Spicy chicken joy is the best. The food always hits the spot. Ube pie is so good.

Jason L.

Yelp
Waited 30 minutes for a burger was accompanied by attitude i ordered 2 burgers and reminded the worker 5 times

Mayra G.

Yelp
I purchased a chicken sandwich combo. The chicken was rubberish almost like if it was fake chicken. I don't know how to explain it. The fries were ok. I don't plan on buying food here again. The staff were friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Love jollibee, their fried chicken is always so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The crunch factor goes crazy. Had their mashed potatoes and spaghetti as well which were pretty good (mashed potatoes were a bit watery today). Ube pie is tasty as well. Best fried chicken chain!
google avatar

Danielle L.

Yelp
Every time I come to california I wanna grab some jollibee. The fried chicken came out so hot and crispy. It was pretty packed so it took us a while to get the food. Yet, I would prefer fresh cooked chicken instead of anything sitting around under a lamp. Lots of families were here. So it was pretty loud but it was fine.

Yelp
The chicken here is delicious don't get me wrong BUT I really wish they sold some type of coleslaw, salad or steamed veggies to balance all the heaviness of the family meal. I need some veggies on this menu our meal had no color on the plates when we got home to eat. Now the spicy deluxe chicken sandwich. My lord. This was so delicious. No changes needed. Top three chicken sandwich spot for real!!! The chicken is utterly perfect and I wouldn't change a thing about the seasoning or prep. The mashed potatoes were solid and I basically drank the gravy. The adobo rice was not it, it made everything too salty and I will be getting the steamed rice in the future. The pineapple quencher was very fresh and not too sweet. I recommend taking out and eating this all together at home since they already package everything in Togo containers for dine in. It also gets crazy packed here!! It's a fast paced vibe inside. Service was great and fast and honestly for the amount of food we got it was only $35!! Can't beat that for the quality of food. Can't wait to come back for those chicken sandwiches. I'm still waiting on the ube pies!! Haven't tried them since they're out of season I think. The peach and mango was surprisingly delicious and I immediately regretted not getting my own to have instead of share lol

Yelp
It was on a Tuesday late night. Hubby had a random Fried Chicken craving so I quickly thought of many available options here in Yelp. This one was still open. For me personally, it has been YEARS I haven't eaten Jollibee. Hubs never tried it before so am here playing with my cards. This fried chicken has to be the greatest, has to crunch. KFC had disappointed us before so you can imagine how scared I was. So I drove and got here at the drive thru, as soon as I start ordering I get an apology that they ran out of their chicken but I will have to wait around 35 minutes if am still interested for chicken. In my mind, what in luck to get the freshest fried chicken ever to go home with me? So let's put it up to the test, let's see if it's true. The fresh made fried chicken crunch. So I did wait and got home in a jiff! That was the most beautiful bucket I've ever seen and smelled so delicious. I kid not, looked like a tv commercial. I made my hubby to take the first bite. Super hot and crunchy (original recipe none spicy) I was so happy, my drive to Anaheim was not a waste. The first time I had tried Jollibee was years ago and in a different location, my experience wasn't that great as in there was no crunch and just got small pieces, was still hungry after that meal but this one was far greater and was worth the wait. Thanks to the team that made this happen!

Yelp
Every time I drive to San Diego this tends to be one of my rest stops. Its pretty clean and there's plenty of seating. The parking situation is nice too. My favorite item on the menu here has to be the Burger Steak Meal and then I buy a side order of fries to place into it.
google avatar

Jacqueline F.

Yelp
Uber pie was sooooooo good. The chicken sandwich did not taste to fried! I was so happy! The people were so sweet to use too, we had told them it was our first time and they let us take our time ordering( there was nobody behind us) the food was greasy the chicken sandwich was not overcooked or dry it was great! We got the $11 combo definitely good price for the amount of food .

HS L.

Yelp
Chicken was good. Very crispy skin. The spicy definitely has some kick. The spiciness is injected into the chicken...not just on the skin. Not sure how I've never had fried chicken with gravy...so good. Spaghetti was ok. I get the appeal but not sure i like my spaghetti sweet. It tasted like it was a bbq based sauce. I did like how you could taste the meat in the sauce. I think having as a side with the chicken is good...I could not have a full plate of it. The pies...I preferred the ube over the mango peach since it was a much more subtle sweetness. Pineapple quencher is a must have. Some might say it is just pineapple juice, but there is something about having it as part of this meal. Would I go out of my way to get this...probably not. If i had a choice between this and Korean fried chicken (like BBQ Chicken), I'm going BBQ. But, I will say I'd get this over Popeyes or KFC for sure. Parking at this location could be a pain but we were good. Staff is super friendly and they work hard to make sure tables are cleaned quickly since there are people waiting to sit.
google avatar

Bri S.

Yelp
Portions are really tiny. I got the spaghetti, not the family pack (because I'm not a family) and they don't even fill the cardboard container. Like there's still empty space on the sides and top. It's spaghetti that costs like $1 trust me for $8-9 you're still gonna make money!! Then the side of rice.... $4. It's barely enough to just feed one person, definitely not enough to share any for two. Waste of money, not going back. Paid $15 for tiny basic stuff
google avatar

Yelp
Food was amazing. Better than KFC! Service was great! This was our first time there and the ladies at the cash register were so helpful. The restaurant was huge with tons of seating. Very clean. There is a Jollibee mascot out front. Kind of hard to get in and out of though in the parking lot. Their spicy chicken sandwich was the spiciest I've ever had. I love the sriracha and the jalapeños. Prices were fairly reasonable. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Tracy O.

Yelp
If it was just for the food, I would have given it a 4. However, I have to consider other features. The wait time for a bucket of chicken was kind of long. Meaning, I had to park to wait. I actually thought they may have forgotten about me, and called the restaurant to remind them I was waiting in the parking lot. Besides that, it's one of my favorite chicken, and by far, the best drive thru chicken!
google avatar

Danni O.

Yelp
Crispy, juicy fried chicken. Did an online pick up order and the workers were friendly and quick about having everything ready on time. I found the spicy fried chicken to be hotter than expected, still good. Spaghetti was also okay, fries were old and stale. Would just come back for the fried chicken!
google avatar

Dia N.

Yelp
I love this place so much that I literally ordered twice within 24 hours. To start off, service is probably going to be 2 stars at best here but it is a fast food spot so I'm not expecting much. What I do love, is their Jollibee spaghetti. Everytime I get it, it's always consistently good. Filipino spaghetti is made to be sweet and savory, and the spaghetti noodles that it comes with just mesh perfectly with the sauce. I've also had their mash potatoes and fries as sides and they're both underwhelming. But the spaghetti is just so good and unique that I can't stop ordering from them. They offer a drive thru at this location or you can order online via delivery apps. There's also plenty of seating inside the place with some parking in the front of the store and more behind it. Oh, and did I mention that they're pretty affordable?
google avatar

Grace K.

Yelp
The wait time for my order to come out was a bit slow but reasonable considering how busy it was. The employees are all kind and makes sure that you receive your order. I went for one thing only and it was the Ube Pie. I have been waiting YEARS for Jollibee to bring this back. I wish I can purchase frozen ones so that I can always have them on hand. The ube pie filling is a bit more watery than previously so it's harder to eat but delicious regardless.
google avatar

Kim G.

Yelp
Came here with the family so my wife could try the spicy fried chicken. Unfortunately they didnt have it available when we showed up. I ordered the regular, with a side of spaghetti, and a peach mango fried pie.. Yummo on that one. Wife and son shared a 3 piece chicken finger meal with fries. Got to say the fried chicken was really good. My wife thought it tasted like any other chicken joint. There spicy one is the better though. The chicken fingers i didnt really care for. You have to have the bone in fried chicken here. Its a must. Place was super clean, and as always people working there were super friendly as well.
google avatar

Jen-jen R.

Yelp
We're from Arizona and we often visit family members in this area and this is the first place we go to. The taste is AZ is definitely different. It simply feels like HOME.
google avatar

Natalie J.

Yelp
I love their spicy chicken sandwich! The employees at this location are very nice. We got a deluxe spicy chicken sandwich, mashed potatoes & gravy, the deluxe chicken sandwich, pineapple quencher, and saving the best for last the peach mango pies! I recommend getting the spicy chicken sandwich instead of the regular chicken sandwich because the spicy one has a lot more flavor, and the regular is a little bland. The restaurant is clean and they share the space with a bakery as well. They even let us try the spaghetti sauce instead of ordering a whole one to see if we would like it so that was very kind. Thanks Jollibee!
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
Jollibee serves solid fried chicken with gravy. The flavors mix well with each other, and the crispiness makes the meal delicious. This time I had a two-piece (leg and thigh) Chickenjoy meal with rice and gravy. My only issue with this specific meal was that the rice seemed a little bit soggy, so I used my own cooked rice.

Cristina V.

Yelp
Drive thru order: Food was good but I ordered 3 ube pie with the family deal and they gave me 3 mango peach pie
google avatar

Gay F.

Yelp
Manager Claire is amazingly good and will make way to shorten the queue. We had a long line and she did open the counter to accommodate everyone . With her great smile and warmth, we got served swiftly and able to enjoy our best chicken joy. More power to Jollibee California.
google avatar

Tiffany N.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place it's right next to the bakery.., Anyhow, the reason why there are no photos is because I devoured my meal prior. I came in and was warmly welcomed by their staff ordered a spicy chicken 3 piece combo with adobo rice and gravy and a drink and their mango peach pie . Honestly , they have the best fried chicken.... Perfect flavor and crisp and temperature... combined with the adobo rice and gravy it is so comforting and hearty . I've been to other locations and by far this is the best , most clean most amazing customer service experience and food quality is always the same . I've been to the one in Rancho Cucamonga and there always are out of spicy chicken every single time which is a buzz kill right ? This spot is fabulous!

Crestiacel N.

Yelp
Amazing no comment! Speechless!! I RECOMMEND TRYING THE PALABOK WITH 2 pc chicken or one pc it's up to you. And the drinks I recommend to try at Jollibee would be the pineapple juice it's sweet and refreshing. The employees were nice and greeted with Jolly Morning!
google avatar

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Ordered a 10pcs Chicken bucket that comes with 2 gravy containers and a side of rice. They have plates upon request. Nice and clean restaurant. Connected to Red Ribbon Bakery. One Exit away from Disneyland.
google avatar

Luke M.

Yelp
Jollibee is the fried chicken brand that has, for the longest time gone unnoticed as a worthy alternative to mainstays such as KFC and Church's. But as the blind taste tests on YouTube and my recent experience attest to, it has now bested its competitors and has truly gone beyond its cultish following among the Filipino community to become mainstream. Its chicken is perfectly crispy without an over reliance on batter, and it's juicy on the inside without being too salty, like KFC. Their spicy version of Chicken Joy is Korean-esque Hot! But it surely brings the joy back in eating chicken! Bravo, Jollibee!
google avatar

Dulce Y.

Yelp
Today 01/05/2025 i bought burger steak meal at around 4:50pm. The rice is like a porridge. Bad quality. Not good at all. Drive through person didnt even check if the order is good or not.

Yelp
Love this jollibee they get the job done lol no long wait and they had the ube pie available :D bro hooked it up w extra gravy heh
google avatar

Yelp
The food was good chicken was fresh today . Combined with gravy it worked wonders. Spaghetti was a bit too salty. But still good! Service was super fast super friendly . Ambiance is jolly like in its name .

Yelp
Good every time ! Quick service and my meal always hits the spot , highly recommend as well as any other locations

Yelp
Worst jollibee in the world. What kind of jollibee doesn't serve halo halo? Totally un Filipino!
google avatar

Sig G.

Yelp
Ordered to go for the bucket of chicken and gave us a cup of spaghetti instead of gravy.

James L.

Yelp
Have only been to one in Anaheim so it very clean , service was good, children is super crunchy . Great for late dinner pick up.
google avatar

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
I don't understand the hype for their food. I only came here a second time because my husband wanted to try it. My husband really liked the spaghetti but it reminded me of a can of chef Boyardi. Fried chicken is good but definitely doesn't make it onto my favorites list. I do like the flags distinguishing the spicy from non spicy. Popeyes is still my go-to fast food fried chicken spot.
google avatar

Kat H.

Yelp
Their chicken is by far the best for a fast food chain! Super crunchy exterior and always unbelievably moist and juicy inside! Their customer service is always friendly and their prices are cheaper than some of their competitors. Plenty of seating inside too!
google avatar

Julie T.

Yelp
Served me raw chicken. Don't want to even call back because I live too far away just to drive back for a replacement. :( So unfortunate because it was for my kids. Otherwise, everything was good.
