Scenes From the Opening of Michigan’s First Jollibee Fried Chicken Restaurant - Eater Detroit

"Jollibee’s first Michigan location in Sterling Heights is a service to its devoted Filipino fanbase. It is the first franchise location in the Great Lakes State. The restaurant has a cozy dining room and offers a menu full of comfort food with a Filipino twist, like their signature hand-breaded fried chicken dish, Chickenjoy, which was dubbed the best chain fried chicken in America by Eater in 2022. Other offerings include a spicy chicken sandwich with Sriracha mayo, peach mango pie made from Filipino mangoes, adobo rice, and a pineapple quencher soft drink." - Eleanore Catolico

Incredible! My new favorite chicken sandwich. Crispy thick breading, with flavor, nice big good chicken that was hot! Both the person with me and I loved it. Better than Popeyes, IMHO. Getting mashed potatoes as a side is fun, and it's not bad at all, but the person with wished he had more gravy. After we split a side of biscuits and they were incredible! Service was good. They weren't understaffed and had enough employees working that the manager even checked on us. I joined the rewards program, and it looks pretty decent. Overall I can't recommend the 2 chicken sandwich meal deal enough.

Google
The chicken went far beyond my expectations. The flavor is amazing and it doesn’t really need the gravy. The spaghetti was the only thing I didn’t like. The peach mango pie was phenomenal. I got the burger just to try it out and it ended up being super good. Better than some of these more expensive places. I’d definitely come back

The drive thru and order ahead wasn't an option after driving an hour but the food made up for the wait. The staff was nice even under the pressure of the lunch rush and from what it seemed lack of staff. Regardless, they were all moving fast to complete orders. The older woman was very nice about our requests and even brought our food out, which I wasn't expecting. This was my first time, and I loved the food. A little sad they didn't have the Palabok because I really wanted to try. Everything was really good overall and will be back 😌

I really enjoy Jollibee in other locations so I was excited that there is one in Sterling Heights. I’ve come here plenty of times now and my experiences have been great! I love the fried chicken since it's so crispy and juicy. I always grab a peach mango pie too!

We need you guys to come to Grand Rapids or somewhere closer. It was worth the almost 2 hour drive from GR. The food was so amazing that my best friend and I started comparing other restaurants to Jollibee. The pies are to die for. Everyone was so nice and the place was so clean. Will be going back

Google
The taste of the food gotten better compared to when it first opened. The seating capacity is very small, so I suggest to not do eat- in during rush hours, otherwise you won’t have a place to sit. The bathroom smells & there’s no paper towels, it’s very important to keep the bathroom clean for good sanitation. Also the sign for the “ employee must wash hands after using the bathroom “ should be visible to the public restroom.

Google
First timer! The food wasn’t bad, I ordered the spaghetti which had a different twist but wasn’t awful I still enjoyed it! Then got fries and mash with biscuits! I’ll say the mash and biscuits were a little thicker for my taste but still good. My only complaint so far is that they didn’t let me know there would be cheese on top of the spaghetti as seeing I’m allergic. So I had to turn back around and get it redone. That’s why I always like to check my food before I leave because I do have an allergy and there’s been so many times I’ve gone all the way home and find out my order isn’t what it was, things were missing, or my allergy was carefully taken care of and I end up with food I cannot eat.

Google
First time trying this restaurant interesting new flavor mix on chicken. Sides were very good and desserts were great.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. Their spicy chicken is so good. But nothing matches their spaghetti. It may not be for everyone as the sauce is a little on the sweeter side, and it has hot dogs in it, but dang is it tasty. The inside is very small as it is mainly meant to be a drive-thru place, but we've always been able to find a seat. This isn't a problem of the store, but I wish they the ube pies on the menu all of the time. The famous mango pies are good, but the ube really shines here.

Yelp
Top notch service from all the staff. They close at 10pm and we went in at 9:30, they are still serving and cooking and smiling. And I see people walk in 10mins before closing and they still serve them, not that I recommend walking in last minute but the staffs are great. Finally they have ube pie. It was good, stuffing is melty and runny. Doesn't taste like sweet potato but still good. Chicken was surprisingly good. Usually their chicken is bland and need to dip in some gravy but this time, the chicken has some saltiness into it. I like their spaghetti, it is very Asian because the sauce is sweet and I got a big pan of it with the 6 piece bucket treat B combo

Yelp
Ordered a Jollibee feast online before a Detroit Lions game last week. It was almost ready when we arrived to pick it up. We ordered spicy as well as original chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, spaghetti, adobo rice, mac-n-cheez and peach and mango pies. QUALITY and taste were as good as our last visit. Can't say that I am a fan of the spaghetti, but everything else was TASTY & DELICIOUS. When we got home, the ORDER WAS CORRECT and neatly packaged, and STILL HOT! I think that the crew at this location knows how to hustle and does a good job.

Yelp
For a good, inexpensive chicken sandwich on the go, it's hard to beat Jollibee. Fastest service at the drive through, and for an extra treat -- their peach-mango pie is just as if McDonalds would have made them in the 80's, with all of the deep-fried crispiness. A little bit of a time warp there.
google avatar

Yelp
Giving it 2 stars because serve ice cold fries that has been sitting not cool at all.

Yelp
Sensational! This was my first time trying Jollibee and it was everything I wanted it to be. I went with the meal option to try more items-for around $12 this included a sandwich, side, a pie & a drink. The spicy chicken sandwich was so crispy crunchy and had slices of fresh jalapeno and a fantastic creamy spicy sauce. The peach mango pie and pineapple quencher were ‍

Yelp
As a Filipino who has always had to get Jollibee from Chicago and who has also had it in the Philippines, this place is good. The joy and relief to finally have it in Michigan was everything for the community! The food is yummy as usual but I'm waiting for more items like palabok, burger steak, other pie flavors, and whatnot. My boyfriend loved the adobo rice and put it in the chicken skin as a yummy food hack/combo. The service is overall decent can't complain and the ambiance is chill.

Angelina J.

Yelp
Chicken was delicious and very crunchy. Best thing is when you dip the chicken into the gravy. Dining area is small considering how busy they are. We ordered 6pc chicken meal that includes 2 sides: spaghetti and adobo rice. Rice was perfectly seasoned. Spaghetti is in the sweeter side similar to the one we tried in the Philippines. Wait time for food isn't that bad

Yelp
Walking in on a cool Sunday afternoon, after a two plus hours drive, walking in, most of the seats were taken. There was a line to order, we ordered spicy fried chicken with the sides, mashed potatoes, gravy, fried rice, mac-n-cheese and the spaghetti with hotdogs. The spicy was good, my first chicken leg was overly spicy, but I ate a second thigh, which was milder. The spaghetti was awesome, the only let down was that soda from the fountain seemed flat. The building was had some holiday decorations, a standard setting. Again enjoyed this trip.

Yelp
Jollibee - oh how I love thee! Out here making me wax poetic from the beginning! I am so thankful that this Filipino fast food chain has finally made its way to Michigan and on Hall Road - the road of all the fast food chains - no less! I have been dying to try this place since they first came to America, probably at the start of this millennia I believe! And let me tell you...it did not disappoint! This Jollibee location doesn't have the full Jollibee menu yet (most notably, no palabok fiesta yet), but there's still a ton on this menu that is just waiting to be tried! Everything is so tasty! I've been here about 6-7 times since they first opened up about a month ago?! I'm obsessed, as you can clearly see! Firstly, this is fast food, but not like your traditional fast food. It's just BETTER and so much more unique! Secondly, the lines here haven't been crazy at all! They have both drive through windows open, so the line moves fast, and you can go inside to order as well. They are really organized and I've always had a lovely experience going through the drive through! I've come here on weekdays and weekends and the drive through lines are always manageable! Now on to the food...the star of this show! My top favorite is the Jolly Spaghetti! I know this might be polarizing to some, but to me it just works so well! The red sauce of this Filipino spaghetti is significantly sweeter than your normal Italian red sauce, and they put cut up hot dog pieces into it - it just works for me so well and is definitely worth a try if you've never had it! Shockingly, my next favorite at Jollibee is their pineapple quencher! It tastes like pure pineapple juice, is so smooth and not too sweet, and just pairs well with literally every food item on the menu! I wish they sold the pineapple quencher in a larger size! I have now resorted to buying two of them each time I come here...it's a problem LOL! The fried chicken is literally so juicy and flavorful! I highly recommend you try this and make sure you get a whole cup of gravy so you can dip the fried chicken in it! The gravy truly sets Jollibee chicken apart from other places! Also, I love how well the chicken travels. I'm about 20-30 minutes away and I can take the chicken home and bite into it and it'll still be hot and crispy! I've tried the yumburger - it's like a regular fast food burger, but with an extra special tangy sauce and just a slightly thicker beef patty that just has a lot of grilled flavor to it that also sets it apart! The fried chicken sandwich and spicy fried chicken sandwiches are great as well! I prefer the spicy because it really isn't all that spicy heat-wise, but rather just more that you can taste the spices added in, which really gives the sandwich another layer. The chicken on the chicken sandwiches doesn't hit the same way the fried chicken on the bone does, not as juicy and moist, but still crispy and tender in its own right! My other favorite side is the adobo rice! It tastes like super flavorful sticky rice, and I'd recommend pairing it with any and all leftover gravy you have remaining! They go beautifully together! Last, but DEFINITELY not least is the showstopper that is the peach mango pie! McDonald's hand pies wish they could be this peach mango pie. It is perfectly crispy on the outside - like the pie crust is literally my favorite part of this pie. It's a handheld pie and so it has maximum crust, which is beautiful! The crust honestly tastes like the crispy outside to an egg roll and it just pairs so well with the gooey interior of the peach and mango concoction! This pie also travels so well and in fact, you'll probably want to wait a good amount of time before biting in because the ooey gooey inside will be PIPING hot! It also reheats beautifully in a toaster oven so you can get a couple extra to take home and store in your fridge for treats throughout the week as well! All in all, Jollibee has exceeded every expectation I've had. I am so glad it's here and will be frequenting this place often! I implore you all to try it as well because I am pretty pretty confident when I say you will not be disappointed!!

Yelp
Ehhh, they were okay. The fried chicken was not bad. The gravy, not good. I wouldn't recommend it. The spaghetti was different, it has a slight sweet taste to it which I don't mind because I've had slightly sweet spaghetti before and I like it that way.. I didn't like the fact this spaghetti sauce had pork in it. I would never order that again. I didn't have much of a choice though because it automatically comes with the family pack. The biscuit, not good. The mango pie wasn't anything to rave about. This place was packed so a lot of ppl like it. The dining area is very small and all of the tables were full so I got a carry out. Service was fast. They had plenty of staff to handle all of the orders. You can dine in, get carry out or go through the drive through. Would I came back? Hmm, nah.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
The drive thru line was long, but moved fairly quickly. They have two lines for ordering that merge. They ask for your name which makes sense due to the heavy volume of traffic. I was greeted well when I pulled up. The chicken is good, crispy, and was seasoned well. The biscuit is okay. I also had fries- they were okay. I will return at some point to try the peach mango pie.

Yelp
The only reason I'm giving this a four-star rather than three star is because it actually beats my expectations from all the negative reviews on yelp. I got the six piece chicken combo A and there were six pieces, which I split 50% non hot and 50% hot. The chicken was overall well fried without too much grease and did not taste too oily or salty. In comparison, I looked at the nutritional info for KFC, and they have a lot more salt and fat contents in their chicken vs Jollibee. Quick drive through. Spaghetti, I was excited about however WAY too sweet. Fries well fried, crispy for some time. Not as bad as other reviews say.
google avatar

Yelp
The place is kinda small and not always easy to find a table. A few people were waiting in line when I got there but it moved fast. Slightly disappointed the spicy option was not available yet (maybe it is now). The chicken was excellent. It's tender, juicy and flavorful. I'm usually not a big fan of the thigh, but I enjoyed their version of the thigh, maybe more than the drumstick. The gravy is OK, but I prefer to have the chicken without it. The pie is mediocre.
google avatar

Annette A.

Yelp
I was excited to try this o the advice of my Filipino friends however it was a tad disappointing. I got the chicken joy with a side of Jolly spaghetti as recommended and the gravy dipping sauce. Also hit the peach mango pie. The pie was excellent and what saved the experience and drive some points. The chicken joy was nothing special to me. I dipped it in the gravy as you are supposed to and it was better. However I have a Lee's Famous Recipe near me and this was kind of like that but not quite as good. I would say average on the chicken. The Jolly Spaghetti was too sweet. It reminded me of a side I have had in the Memphis area called BBQ spaghetti but sweeter. It was not awful but not something I cared to finish- I can say I tried it and that is fine with me. I wouldn't get it again.

Yelp
Opening weekend was a success! We went the Monday after opening and opted to get into line and order inside. It was so cold, but we didn't wait more than 20 minutes. Inside, it was a smooth operation with keeping the lines orderly, handing you a menu, and the cashiers were ready to go. You were handed a buzzer and waited about 15 minutes for your food. It's opening weekend. People are excited. There's going to be hiccups and delays, but that being said, I thought it went as well as it could have! There were SO MANY people working in the back, and ALL HANDS were on deck. They are working as fast and as efficiently as they can. It was impressive. And the food? Knocked it out of the park. Chicken was perfectly crunchy and tasty. Just what I'd expect. The only thing holding me back from 5 stars was that they didn't have their full menu available (Spam Sandwich Bite I'm Talking to You), but I understand why. Leaning into what made them famous (chicken joy) and simplifying the menu makes the line move faster for everyone. Also a drawback- not enough tables to sit inside, but another opening weekend glitch that can't be avoided. I hope this Jollibee is able to maintain their standards because the Filipinos of Metro-Detroit are ready.

Janice J.

Yelp
If you just want some fried chicken. This is the place for you. They were about to close so there was no spicy chicken or gravy. Service was okay for it to be closing. Chicken was just regular fried crispy chicken. They did give me some cold fries after I seen them take the fresh cooked fries out. Even when I questioned it she still added some cold ones on top.

Yelp
I was excited to try this restaurant to see what the hype was about but when I got there I was very disappointed. There were only like 2 options to get, which was either. A bucket of chicken or a piece or two of chicken and a side. Which is usually the spaghetti. I paid around $11/12 for the one piece of chicken and spaghetti. The spaghetti was very mid. It wasn't the best in the world but it wasn't THAT bad it was tolerable. The chicken was.... Something else. The taste of the chicken was pretty good but the texture of it was like wet and slimy and overall it was just scary . I don't know if I will ever try jollibee again. At least not on my own $$ 4/10

Yelp
Fast efficient service. Friendly people. Had my fourth visit for my favorite chicken joy two piece meal with steamed rice. Saw a new, limited offer for Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich with grilled pineapple.

Yelp
This was the worst food I've ever had in my entire life, especially from a fast food restaurant. I had to throw the whole plate away. The spaghetti was so sweet. It was like SpaghettiOs in a can, but they added extra sugar to it, and then put it in a cup and gave it to you The chicken. How do you mess up chicken? I have no idea but they figured it out. They found a way to mess up fried chicken. And then I got this pineapple punch. I promise you it taste like the fruit cups that you used to get an elementary school like they drained the juice from that and put some ice on it and gave it to you in a cup. This literally felt like I literally paid to eat elementary school lunch and it wasn't even pizza Friday. Lesson learned on trying new things never again. But I must say of all the things the Customer Service was absolutely amazing. That was it.

Yelp
@Jollibee open in Ohio next!!! Since planning a trip to Michigan, Jollibee was at the top of our list. I was surprised by how tiny this location is compared to what every Filipino in the Midwest knew was going to be a PACKED restaurant. Just as expected, the line was past the indoor tables. There was only 1 person working the register despite the grouchy number of people waiting. However, after we ordered, our food and drinks were out within 5 minutes! The service was friendly and quick. I hope next time that there's a more orderly way that the line is organized - maybe some tape or at least a sign? - and more than 1 poor employee working the register for a packed house, but I know this is a pretty new location. Along those same lines, the chicken and especially gravy were not as good as I've had in Chicago, but again, that's to be expected. The chicken was so crispy and delicious, even the leftovers we had for the next day. I really hope this business improves and thrives, and eventually opens up more locations throughout the Midwest!

Yelp
We have been waiting for literal years to try their food. We had come so close when we were in Hawaii or California, then waited an extra couple of years when this place was first announced then it all fell apart and we thought we would not get Jollibee, but finally we made it! The place is very small and very crowded if you come on a weekend or during prime meal time. But the people working here are very nice, helpful and super efficient. Sitting is an issue. I hope they bring some tables to eat outside when it is officially Spring. But this is an interesting place. The food is not super amazing, but it is fast food, and we love trying fast food from around the globe. The fried chicken was good. It was juicy and crispy, but not as crispy as Korean chicken, but still better than KFC (which I am not a big fan of in the first place). I was a bit disappointed with the gravy. I thought it was going to be better, but oh well. The chicken sandwich was good, we got a couple, but that was not my order. I would probably just get the chicken joy personally. The sweet spaghetti tastes good, one child thought it tasted like coney chili the other spaghetti o's. It tasted even better the next day, as did the chicken. The biscuit was good. Not as good as Popeye's but way better than KFC. The adobo rice is where it's at! That was amazing, so was the mac and cheese, and the pineapple refreshers. Those three things could be a meal. The pie was good, but it tasted like canned peaches, and people hyped it up a lot. But it wa hot, fresh, and crispy. You need to try at least once. Overall I would come back. I really hope they bring the full menu. We really want to try the chicken tenders. I am very eager to try the polobak fiesta! Please bring that! I would love the ube pie, that is more of what I would order, and I know it is gone from the website, but the halo halo, I wanted to try that so bad! Maybe add that too. We can get that in metro Detroit but it is very hard to find.

Yelp
I have heard about this place on social media, but since it was never in Michigan, I always wanted to try it. So when I location opened up, I was excited to try it. The restaurant was clean little on the smaller side few tables to sit at. By time I was going to take pictures on the inside my food was ready. I ordered the two piece, chicken, peach mango pie, and a pineapple quencher. The chicken was OK didn't taste like it had any seasoning on it. It came with a gravy that tasted like KFC gravy nothing special. The pie was very good. I will come back for that but the pineapple quencher tasted like regular pineapple juice. I would like to come back to try other things on the menu so I won't judge his place too harshly.

Rashun B.

Yelp
This food was awful. It was cold dry and the chicken was very undercooked. Do not and I repeat DO FREAKING NOT order or each this bull ish

Yelp
Only a couple cars in front of us in the drive-through today - a Saturday around 1pm! So seems like it's definitely gotten less busy than around its initial opening. We ended up getting a meal deal that we saw on the drive through board which came with a chicken bucket (6 pieces), gravy, family size spaghetti, 3 peach mango pies. We also got pineapple quencher drinks, a spicy chicken sandwich, and adobo rice for the side. All was tasty! I was impressed that the food remained warm and the chicken remained crispy even though we had about a 20min drive home before we dug into the food. This is the second Jollibee's location I've tried and so far it seems like they have good consistency with their food. The chicken is good but with the gravy it's great. The spaghetti is unique and enjoyable. The peach mango pies are SO good!! The adobo rice WITH gravy is very yummy (without, it's a little dry). Only slight disappointment is that they don't have the Palabok Fiesta (yet?) which I'm interested in trying. Also the food sits a bit heavily afterwards, but that's more or less to be expected from fast food.

Yelp
I give it five stars because I've had Jolibee all over the world, and it's unfair to rate so harshly given what it is. Filipino fast food. It's busy because it's new. That part sucks. The food is fantastic. The mac n cheese was fantastic. My recommendation is to bring in the traditional Filipino dishes that are customary to Jolibee. Pancit Palabok, condiments of vinegar, the little spam sandwiches etc. The menu is very watered down to appease to the Michigan mindset. I visited on a Sunday at 10 am and it was not busy. I highly recommend checking it out. No comparison to child fil a or KFC. It's Jolibee. Go, you might find a new favorite chicken place.

Danielle D.

Yelp
The store is surprisingly very small so you have to be lucky to snag a seat. nonetheless, the store is clean & they are very well staffed. I only waited in line for about 5 mins before I ordered and my food came out quickly compared to other Jollibee locations I've visited out of state. I got the 2 piece chicken joy and the chicken is very large & crispy. I wish they had a spicy option. The adobo rice never misses. The pineapple quencher was so delicious. One of the best jollibees i've been to in the US.
google avatar

Tony M.

Yelp
First off, I'll recognize that I'm not Jolibee's target demo. But I am familiar with the chain and have, like everyone else who lives in the area, wondered when the heck they were opening. Then driving by after they did and being amazed by the crowds. Today my plan was to stop somewhere else down the road, but when I noticed that at noon the line was only about ten or so cars, I thought "what the heck, I'll try it." I had been planning on waiting until things died down. It still took me 20 minutes in line, and the parking lot is a bit wild. I've looked at their menu online and thought it was pretty small, but people seem to like it. My first surprise was that much of the food isn't available yet. Only bone-in chicken, spaghetti, chicken sandwiches and burgers and sides and drinks. Or maybe just the burger patty. The menu board is also confusing and leads you to think that most everything is a combo. It's not, there are separate prices not posted (which I think is a no-no in the state). I didn't really want bone-in chicken, so I got a sandwich and mashed potatoes. I drove around the mall and parked to eat so I could try it as fresh as possible. The mashed potatoes didn't fill up the small container, and they were pretty standard. Not good, not bad. The gravy was nothing special and pretty stingily applied. I opened up the sandwich, and thought that while the portion size was good, it also wasn't cheap. I immediately thought it looked like a Wendy's normal chicken sandwich (not spicy), and when I took a bite, that idea was reinforced. I think if you set both out on a plate and looked and took a bite, you couldn't tell them apart. Except Wendy's has more flavor and is more tender. So maybe you can tell them apart. Bottom line is that there's nothing special about it and it's not even good. I was disappointed that they didn't have the Palabok Fiesta or tenders, but I'll be honest - I'm probably not coming back when and if they have them. The person at the register could only say "They're not in our system" when I asked. Having had the experience now, I really can't understand the excitement for this place, or the sheer amount of people who lined up to come here day after day. It might sound harsh, but the food was average at best, and that's probably being quite generous.
google avatar

Kyna V.

Yelp
The food is so good, as expected. The chicken was crispy and juicy. It came with a gravy dipping sauce which is like the trademark sauce of Jollibee. The spaghetti never disappoints. I just wish they had the spicy chicken option and had the other menu items like palabok. The pineapple quencher paired really well with my meal. Their service is quick, my food came out in less than 5 minutes and they have a lot of people working. The space is really tiny. The line can extend outside because the wait area is very tiny but there's an attendant who is really nice who guides all the people where to stand. The dining area is clean but there's very limited space for dining in. I recommend coming here when it's not peak lunch or dinnertime so you can get your food and dine in. Overall, I love Jollibee and it makes me happy that Filipino restaurants like this are opening in Michigan.

Yelp
Spicy chicken is extremely spicy; all the chicken is good and crispy;service is good ; food cooked to order. Mango peach pies are great tasty.

Yelp
I got a burger and mac & cheese and the burger was forgettable and the mac & cheese is actually not terrible but so expensive for the little amount you get. I don't see myself coming back here at all because I just wasn't impressed and theres too many restaurants around to eat somewhere thats just blah. At least it didn't get me sick so I give it a 3/5.

Yelp
Food was good, the spaghetti really wasn't all it was hyped up to be. Chicken is delicious though! Very tender and juice! Service was good, you will have to wait a bit, as it's made fresh, and they are busy. Ambiance was nice, just a normal fast food restaurant with plenty of roroom to eat!

Yelp
Visit one- I've only tried the bone-in chicken since that is the star attraction. It is very close if not the same as Church's Chicken, less oily. It is crispy with a neutral light/minimal seasoning. I was hoping for a popping flavor commitment, but I am guessing that is what the gravy is for, to dip the chicken in. If we have a strong chicken craving and in the area, they're there. Besides that, we have tried it. Whenever they get the spicy bone-in, I will give it another try. Visit two- Okay, we went back to try the bone-in spicy chicken which is still not available. We did get the peach mango pie and pineapple quencher, which both are good. The pie is warm and creamy with mango-peach mini-chunks. The pineapple quencher is reminiscence of the Dole Pineapple juice with a sweet taste. The service is pretty good based on the two visits. Everyone is hard working, polite, and professional. This is an expectation that Jollibee has meet regardless of the food. If the food is awesome but service crappy, that is game over. The origin of Jollibee does not have an influence on my review. Jollibee is a chicken fast food restaurant with different sides. The location fills a gap for fried chicken. Luckily, we have options to fill a basic want, we were just hoping for a stand out.

Yelp

Yelp
Over priced. Chicken was crispy but no flavor. You get gravy but no mashed potatoes. Am I supposed to dip my flavorless chicken into a vat of under seasoned gravy? Don't understand how to make a meal for the family the meal deals don't make sense. The the mango pie.... Your better off going to Kroger and picking up a 10for 10 pie

Yelp
I hadn't really heard too much about Jollibee before going there so I wasn't sure what to expect. I wouldn't say that I disliked the food, but I definitely wasn't impressed. The service was good and the food came out quickly but it was a pretty underwhelming experience and probably not somewhere I would return.

Yelp
It's a very nice bar . Service at bar was very good. Panini was good. My brothers fish/chips looked great.

Yelp
Ok. Don't normally review fast food but this is new to Michigan. So, I do not eat fried chicken or meat off a bone so for the fried chicken we got with my grandsons report. Not very good, KFC and Popeyes is way better. The bun was good. Reminded him of upscale cafeteria food. I had a spicy sandwich which was room temperature and had no spice at all, somehow even the jalapeños were bland. This is a hard pass.

Yelp
We made the trek across the state to give this a try. We were so excited about the Jollibee hype! The place was packed this Sunday at lunch time, but the tables are super limited. The picture shows the entire seating area, so be prepared to get carry out and eat in your car. We had to, we ordered the chicken sandwich, the fried chicken, sides of Mac and cheese, spaghetti, French fries, the pineapple drink and the mango peach pie. It was all pretty good, definitely more food than I needed for a lunch. I didn't love eating in the car, but it was fun to try it out. Not sure I would go out of my way to do this again, but willing to try it again if one were to open nearby.

Yelp
2024-01-26. Jollibee. Sterling Heights. Jollibee is a famous restaurant in the Philippines. They have international exposure and have been in North America (Canada and USA) for some time now. Michigan was the latest to get a location and it's located in Sterling Heights in the Lakeside Mall outer right of shops with direct exposure to Hall Rd. Jollibee is known for their super crispy fried chicken. The breading is spiced, and it comes in a spicy version as well. In addition to selling chicken, they also sell chicken burgers and the quality rivals that of Chick-Fil-A. The first time I had Jollibee was actually in Canada, and the chicken was quite good. Moist and juicy on the inside, and crispy crunchy on the outside. It was cooked perfectly. When I had the chicken here in MI, it was different, it was not nearly as flavorful not spicy. Not sure whether or not they toned it down to adjust to local tastes (I can't imagine they would compromise the recipe that made them famous), but it was lacking. I also had their chicken burger (both the regular and the spicy). Sadly, once again, it was not as I remembered as with my first experience in Canada. The chicken was a chicken breast just like C-F-A, and it was juicy, but the texture was off. The chicken was very stringy and tougher, more rubbery. So much so to the point that there was resistance when trying to bite through it. On several bites, I basically tore the chicken meat from the breast vs biting through it. We also tried their peach mango pies. These were consistent in both flavor and texture. They're deep fried, and they're pretty good. You don't find deep fried pies anymore, they're mostly baked now, so that deep fried taste was nostalgic for me and brought back fond memories of McD's apple pies. 4 stars (3 for the pie and 1 for being deep fried.) Lastly, we also had the pineapple quencher. There was really nothing notable about this drink. It's sweetened pineapple juice that's more mild and doesn't carry the bite that you normally get with fresh pineapple juice. Overall, I have to say I'm disappointed with the Jollibee in MI. My first time was on opening day, and thinking it may be because it was opening day, I went back again on Jan 26. The food was the same both times... at least they're consistent. Sadly, for me it was consistently disappointing. I know what Jollibee can be, and this just isn't it. 2 stars. If You would like to experience more, come dine-with-me.yelp.com I'd love to have your company... Bon Appétit!

Yelp
We went through the drive-thru. The food was fresh, it was my first time visiting this restaurant and I'm happy it was a good experience. There was a mistake made with my chicken sandwich and they made it fresh, again. There was spectacular service! I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Jollibee has been a favorite restaurant of mine in the Philippines. I'm ecstatic that a Michigan location has opened! The flavors will taste different as this is not an American restaurant. The chicken is not the traditional flavored chicken you might expect. I love the food because it brings back childhood memories for me. Be bold and be open to the menu items. I hope you enjoy the Filipino food! The restaurant is very clean. Sitting together might be difficult if you are a family of 5 or more. There are limited tables which is a mix of booth and single chair seating.

Yelp
I was finally able to get a chance to try the food. The opening week lines were insane. The worst part of Jollibee is the wait. The demand is insane and you need to be ready to wait before ordering. After paying I got the food really fast. Like less than 2 minutes. Because of the demand is so crazy they are running a simplified menu. I was able to order Cheesy Yumburgers which are off menu (January 2024.) The girl taking my order was surprised that I knew to ask. Here is my review of the different food we ordered. 1. I would like to talk about the spaghetti first. It is more like a bbq style than Italian meat sauce. The sausage/hotdog that they mix in is also very good with the noodles. It has a nice sweet flavor and it makes a nice side dish. 2. All three of my kids ate their entire Cheesy Yumburgers. The youngest rarely does that and I would say it was a high compliment. The cheese was melted and they looked great. 3. The fried chicken is really good (the wife and I like it better than KFC but not Popeyes.) When you order a bucket they give you gravy to dip the chicken in. The breading is wonderful and the chicken was tender. 4. The adobo rice was really good and tasted great with the burger steaks/gravy. It had a nice garlic flavor. 5. The Pineapple Quencher is very sweet (maybe too sweet) at first. After the ice melts in the drink it was awesome. It would be perfect on a hot summer afternoon. 6. The Peach Mango Pie are fried link the Mcdonalds pies were when I was a kid. My young son and I loved them. Much better than other pies I have had. 7. The fries are very close to McDonalds. Ours were not salted enough and this is my only complaint about the food.

Yelp
I love Jollibee. The service is friendly and the food it great. My favorite is the spaghetti and peach mange pie. The pineapple juice is also really tasty. I will say that this location is really small and there's hardly any seating so after we ordered we took it to the mall in the food court to eat. It was also really busy and crowded. Not a lot of room to move. Overall, I would come back but definitely take it to go.

Yelp
We went on a weekday around 530 this week and was worried that it's going to be long lines and such but actually the line inside was minimal and we were able to snatch up a seat pretty fast. We got the chicken bucket with mashed potatoes and fries, peach mango pies, adobo rice, snd spaghetti. The hype is real but the food, eh it was a little overrated to be honest. The chicken was very crispy which was lovely but I found the inside was just a little too salty for my taste, especially after the 2nd piece. Mashed potatoes were fine but I really liked the fries. The crispiness and the deep potato flavor was really striking to me. This was probably my favorite haha. Adobo rice needed more flavor so I ate it with the gravy. The spaghetti was fine - it has a distinct canned bean sauce type smoky sweet flavor to it. And the peach mango pie was crispy but the insides were underwhelming I thought. Maybe there's too much hype or maybe I'm just too picky. It's still overall great and wonderful that this exists here because we need more Asian restaurant chain imports here so kudos for that!

Yelp
Wow! Jollibee saw me coming!‍ I am here thinking this place was the new best thing in Macomb! Every night drive thru is packed, like Chick-Fil-A style. I warn you because I care about you. Please don't go! Don't go, Don't go, Don't go! The food tastes like a bunch of 5 year old's said, "Hey want to try to cook tonight?" Sure, you got hot dogs? Let's make pasta with little pieces of hot dog and let's invent a sauce to drench the pasta! The chicken, raw inside with no flavor. My 12 year old cooks better than this resturant!!! Wow!
