If you are looking for a real stationer, Jonathan is it. Custom stationery can be overwhelming and intimidating, especially if you are new to it. Jonathan recognizes that and patiently guided me through the range of possibilities. He has binder upon binder filled with chic examples of past projects. He helped me narrow down the options, and once I made my choice he offered suggestions to elevate the font spacing, and style. I was short on time, and not only did Jonathan finish my order early, when i arrived to pick it up, it was beyond beautifully wrapped. It is humbling and inspiring to meet someone so good at his craft.

My fiancé and I received the best service from Jonathan, unannounced on a Saturday morning. We had an unforeseen, time-sensitive request for our upcoming wedding and desperately needed expert guidance for the project. Not only was Jonathan empathetic to our situation, he also welcomed us to sit down and strategize how to move forward. While this was a unique situation, Jonathan's willingness to help us was greatly appreciated. After our hour-long impromptu consultation, we walked out feeling hopeful and trusted Jonathan's expertise. But then, we were delighted when he delivered the product ahead of schedule—and they were absolutely perfect. We can't thank Jonathan enough, and look forward to working with him again soon.

Very charming store. Has some great stationary, fabrics, and decorations for sprucing up a home.

Google
Such a shame we have to write this review! My fiancé and I visited the store right before the new year and had a really nice informational chat with Jonathan regarding invitations to our upcoming Summer 2024 wedding. We then scheduled an appointment for Jan 6, and once the morning of Jan 6 came around, we had a great consultation with Jonathan. We agreed that he would send us the quote that following week and then we would get the process started, but we never heard back. We tried emailing, and sending an instagram DM and nothing....my IG DM was seen but not answered. I think it's a bit unprofessional to just leave us hanging after having a consultation, after discussing our interest and agreeing to a quote. If Jonathan didn't want us as clients I totally understand, he has the right to call the shots, but we would have appreciated communication and not just leaving us high and dry. Super upsetting, truly. We now wasted a month hoping our outreach would be answered but we still have no answers. Maybe in the future, the business can be clear about who they do and don't want to take on as clients and make it clear early on so this can be avoided.

Used Jonathan Wright & co for our wedding stationary, and couldn’t be happier with the level of detail and service. Every time I visit the shop I am enamored by the products and Jonathan himself is such a pleasant person to converse with. Refuse to go elsewhere for my stationary needs. :)

Found The Most Classy, High Quality, Unique Variety Of Stationary And Greeting Cards. My Order Arrived Timely, Wrapped In A Bundle, With A Ribbon Securing The Order, And A Hand Written “Thank You” On The Receipt. It Completely Made My Day. I Will Order From Them Again, And Again. Thank You, Jonathan Wright & Co! Exceptionally Happy With My Purchases.

Google
Superb bespoke greeting, calling card and stationary designs in addition to some of my favorite, hard to find european papers. Lovely colors. Wonderful quality. Charming shop. Friendly, upbeat staff. I'm pleased I stumbled in and will make it a regular stop.

Google
Unfriendly service. I came in for a seal and some wax and felt as if I was a foreigner and unwelcome. I wouldn't make a post otherwise, but I barely got a hello and no eye contact. That's just basic customer service

Yelp
My fiancée and I entered Jonathan's shop on a Saturday in desperate need of his assistance with a time-sensitive project for our wedding. Not only was Jonathan receptive to our unique situation, but he was also empathetic and offered his expertise to help us arrive at a solution together. What's more, is that he and his team overperformed by delivering an incredible product ahead of schedule, which was a huge relief. We can't wait to work with him again soon. Thanks so much, Jonathan!

Yelp
This is a magical shop and a place I love having in the neighborhood. I love cards and consider myself a collector of sorts - I always keep a stock to have on hand for special occasions but have been disappointed by the selection at Paper Source lately. On the record Hallmark and the like are a firm no. I was equally disappointed today that the young woman working wasn't friendly or warm in the slightest. She didn't greet me when I walked in or minutes later when we made eye contact when she was working in the back. When i couldn't find the birthday cards (I haven't been in since pre-Covid) and asked for her help, she smirked at me and it made me feel very strange. It almost felt like I was putting her out to help me. She didn't warm up at checkout either. This is a local treasure but I wish she left a better, warmer impression.

Yelp
Jonathan is a true gem. It is obvious that Jonathan has a real passion and love for what he does. He made us the most beautiful, romantic and elegant wedding invitation suite and most importantly, he was a true pleasure to work with! He knows all the proper etiquette which we really appreciated and has a great eye. Could not recommend Jonathan Wright more highly!

Yelp
First Class, baby. Though I haven't done stationery or invites here, I would and will. My experiences have ranged from just walking in and looking at the cool cards and writing utensils; perusing the fun and funky knicknacks (pocket music box anyone?). They donated some strikingly gorgeous cards for a school fundraiser. Appeared to be ink done with wooden plates. I don't know, but I loved them, and bought some of those. Also, I have a couple of great pens that when I try to re-fill their cartridges at Staples, it just never works right. Here, I got individual attention not to mention an education on the different types of inks. Trial and error on the spot, and my writing gear got instantly revitalized.

Yelp
I bought my daughter a plush stuffed fox toy . Naturally she changed her mind a block after leaving the store. We headed back to switch the fox for a giraffe - they refused to exchange. The clerk said she couldn't be certain what my daughter had "done" to the toy. Please don't take a four year old shopping here. Ends in tears.

Yelp
I have massive love for J Wright. Hand letterpressed cards abound, gift finding is easy and the prices are appropriate for the quality of product here. It is NOT a Hallmark shop...don't expect to find a cheap card for the niece, but if you're serious about gift giving or creating special invites for your next very special event - go here...just go here. I have purchased numerous hand pressed card packs for gifts (everyone LOVES them), and individual, very special, cards for occasions. JW&C has always done a spectacular job in a quaint and lovely shop with excellent service. 5*'s are reserved for the best. This place is the best.

Yelp
My wife and I worked with Jonathan on all of our wedding invitations and other paper goods. The work they did was beyond what we expected. Our invitations were not something I thought too much about until we met with Jonathan to see what they could do. They came out incredible. It was a really great experience to see how much care and thought they put into each item to make sure it was perfect. If you are looking to go anywhere for anything from wedding invitations to wrapping paper, this is the place. We still go back to get gifts for friends and family, as well as more stationary for ourselves. The whole experience was friendly and easy. The end product was really beyond what I imagined my wedding invitation could be. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Rude service. Wouldn't recommend. Drove out of my way to just browse at samples and they refused service. Go somewhere else for quality service. Called ahead and no one answered.

Yelp
This is a classy shop with unusual clever cards, gorgeous wrapping papers, knowledgeable helpful people and then there's Jonathan....so kind and so generous with his time. He helped me out of a jam once and I'll always appreciate that. I love this shop. And, they do stunning gift wraps!

Yelp
This has been my secret little place to buy my Christmas cards for YEARS! It's so cozy nestled into its line of stores along Beverly Blvd, and it's run by the nicest people. Their cards change each year cause they make them there in house and they are always original and adorable. I can't recommend them enough.
google avatar

Tanya P.

Yelp
Yes, on the more expensive side, but try their custom letterpress for surprisingly competitive pricing -- it's my understanding they do the custom presswork themselves vs. farming it off as is typically the case. An emergency change in wedding venue squashed our chances of custom letterpress and die cutouts in a timely manner, but we had worked with the team and were impressed by their creative solutions to bring down costs while maximizing impact. Stunning samples and beautiful use of Letterpress technique!

Yelp
A lovely store and excellent shopping experience. I've been shopping at Jonathan Wright & Company since I moved to Los Angeles three years ago. It has proven a refreshing oasis of civility and style. The stationery and cards are first-rate. Friends have told me that they look forward to my Christmas cards from JW & Co. I'm baffled by an earlier review alleging rudeness. The whole point of going to this store, other than the wares, is that it's one place I know I won't be treated rudely. The service is old-school and pleasant.

Yelp
I worked with Jonathan Wright on my business cards and several printed and digital business announcements. The quality of the letterpress printed business cards is exceprional and I appreciated Jonathan's taste level and creativity with the layout. His store is a gem where I always find wonderful treasures.

Yelp
This pleasantly crammed little boutique sells utterly elegant, tasteful stationery with the inimitable texture of classic letterpress. If you enjoy the look of 19th century engravings and vintage calling cards, you'll find it here, transformed into invitations, thank-you notes, and wrapping paper. Yes, they are quite pricey, but if you're caring enough about your correspondence to use actual paper, why not take the extra step and let it be beautiful? You can also find tiny music boxes, fine blank books, and whimsical gifts for all occasions. At Halloween, they had cunning bat hats. Exemplifying the connection between our era and a more refined past, these people keep their digital cash register in an antique French armoire. I love that.

Yelp
If you adore stationary and letter/card writing the way I do, you will LOVE this store! I stopped in this weekend after peeking in the window at some really cute holiday cards. I picked up a few Halloween, Thanksgiving, Birthday and anytime cards. Wonderful little store, with tons to choose from.

Yelp
A small and full of beautiful boutique with hand crafted cards and invitations made on a 100 year old letter press. You can see the actual letterpress there, its magnificent. Letterpress is an art that is dying, and it is so sad. The quality of the cards here is very high. They do not look mass produced. You can tell, when you get a card from here, it is special, it is very very special. There is nothing like it. If you can't find what you need here but still want to buy a special card or invitations, try Soolip or Paper Source in Beverly Hills....All of these places are much better than Papyrus..

Yelp
A hidden treasure on Melrose! Jonathan Wright has an elegant selection of letterpress stationery, ribbons, pens, books, and gifts. For those who love fine paper, and well-made things, Jonathan Wright & Co. offers lovely stationery and items that are beautifully crafted, unique and special. This is the perfect place to find a gift for a boss, or an in-law. The store offers a lovely and tasteful selection. The store has a magical, boutique-y, and exclusive feel about it.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to get cards for all occasions (birthdays, weddings, births, congrats ,sorries, etc). The cards are all on high-quality stationary, some with the letterpress style, some with random pictures (dinosaurs, British-looking frogs, etc) that are very random, yet very clever. They also sell sheets of really nice thick wrapping paper with the most unique and beautiful designs (those are for my A-list friends, only). They do seem to have do invites for large occasions (but I don't know anything about that): I suspect that that's what makes up most of their business. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is the price. The cards are freaking expensive. Yes, I know, I know, if I want the elegance and the uniqueness, I gotta pay up....but it's just a piece of paper (albeit thick and elegant paper) for crissakes! They do have sidewalk sales every once in awhile where they will throw random cards in a bin so it's nice to dig around when on a lazy Saturday.

Yelp
Love this place! Went here to see their card selection and wrapping paper. I left with a great card and a beautifully wrapped present. For 5 bucks extra my very sweet sales guy wrapped my gift for me. And boy did he do a good job! This is the place you want to go for a personal touch!
google avatar

Yelp
Great gem. Fabulous wrapping paper, stationary amazing although limited. What makes this place magical is the final touches to a long lost art... A hand written note or letter. They have personalized candle wax seals. And their soaps are just divine. Staff was friendly and knowledgable.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to have our wedding invites and personalized stationery done at Jonathan Wright and Co. Our meetings with Jonathan were so helpful and he created the perfect design for our wedding. We are still getting compliments on his beautiful work. Before the wedding, we would go to the store for the high-quality cards and beautiful holiday decorations. This is a must !!

Yelp
Jonathan Wright & Co has a great selection of their own Thank You Cards that you won't find anywhere else. I am getting married in a few weeks and have already been receiving gifts. I wanted to stay on top of sending thank you cards promptly and the cards I found here make the daunting task more enjoyable. I recall a single card (with envelope) is $3 and a pack of 8 of the same card is $19 so you end up saving a little, making each card around $2.40. For the quality of the paper and printing (hand letterpressed) and the chic design it's really a bargain when you consider how hallmark cards can cost the same price at a drugstore. I have already gone back three times for more cards. The shelves with the thank you notes can be a little confusing because often there will be only boxed sets of one design when you want a single card, or only single cards of another design when you want a boxed set to save some money. All you have to do is ask one of the people working there and they will either take out a single from a box set or go in the back and make a new box set for you. My favorite cards are the one with the rooster that says "much obliged" and the one with the butterfly that says "merci beaucoup". They display the thank you notes on their website but the photos don't do justice since they only display the graphics but not an actual photo of the nice print quality. They also seem to be cheaper on the website than in the store but I haven't tried ordering from the website because I live nearby.

Yelp
Jonathan Wright is hands down the best stationer in Los Angeles. The entire experience is personalized from start to finish, with Jonathan himself handling everything each step of the way. He works with you to help you create your vision and then brings it to life in a way even better than you could have imagined. Rachel, his right hand, is more than helpful, offering updates and finalizing all approvals as needed. Each piece is hand made and a work of art, with his team personally making each card in the back of his shop. I worked with him for my wedding suite, personal stationery, and have ordered gifts for friends from him. Jonathan is especially accommodating, detail oriented, talented, honest, and kind. You can trust that you will have a beautiful product if his hands are on it. His company is a jewel amongst a sea of mass produced, commercial, and cheap stationery that is being sold these days as "personalized." I promise you won't find anyone like him or the art he creates.

Yelp
I usually like this store but the sales lady seemed bothered to help me find a specific card

Jill J.

Yelp
This shop has the most unique, one of a kind stationery and gift items out there. I always find all my stationery needs from personal stationery, wax seals, birthday cards and great pens. They also have their own letterpressed cards and stationery made in the shop. The woman that works in the store is so helpful and kind. She can also gift wrap your items with beautiful paper and ribbon sold in the shop. I have been shopping here for years and cannot recommend this shop enough!

Yelp
What a charming place! Certainly a unique selection in a small yet delightful package, this is my go to boutique for gifts of all occasions. You just can't find the quality and assortment in the city as JW&Co, it is easy to say this is a one of kind place. The staff is always courteous and pleasant to work with, and I have been shopping and printing personal stationery here for years. I feel like a gentleman every time I leave and always look to find an excuse to come back.

Yelp
Like a Paper Source but more mom and pop. They have a lot of wedding invites that they designed for clients and they're gorgeously done. I found our Father's Day cards here but wanted to buy a card for every occasion just because they were so tasteful, cute, yet appropriate.

Yelp
I walked in on a day when I was completely overwhelmed and had a list of things to buy for people. Jonathan Wright & Company were SLAMMED and made me feel like I was in the right place, helped me with all of my needs. They have the most amazing selection of gorgeous cards, delicate baby gifts, 2011 leather yummy agendas, gifts for the people who have everything kind of store. They specialize in Letter Press and the work is displayed for all to see, lovely-The owner is quite helpful and everyone is so nice-In fact, I found myself going back um three times on this day, really!

Margaret F.

Yelp
I love shopping at this store. They have beautiful products, and are always pleasant and welcoming. They let you browse all you want, but are always ready to help if you have questions or are looking for something in particular. I bought a bunch of beautiful lanterns for my wedding here, and they were my favorite decoration. The reviewer who said this store is kid-unfriendly must have been shopping in a different store. My two-year old has been in the store several times, and always warmly received.
google avatar

Yelp
The most adorable handmade elegant letterpress stationary in a tiny New York feel boutique! These cards have the most beautiful designs on them, harkening back to days past. Very understated, and subdued in color palate and formatting, but very visually pleasing. Everything is very feminine- I can't imagine anyone masculine having a good time perusing the goods here. The shop also sells old fashioned journals and small books, in addition to small objects and writing accessories to complete your purchase. Be sure to check out the antique letterpress in the back the next time you need to send a card, or just plain want to revive the lost art of letter writing!

Noelle H.

Yelp
NO STARS. I still say boo to this awful store. My husband had to run in there in a pinch a couple of weeks ago and had another awful experience with the pompous staff. I say HOORAY for Paper Source opening next week at Fairfax/Third. They do amazing letterpress, and between their selection and the equally awesome cards at Pulp, no one in this area should subject themselves to these miserable people again.
google avatar

Cassie P.

Yelp
Small yet well-stocked stationary shop right across from Prive Salon. I always stop in and pick up a card or two. They also do custom order cards and stationary. Support small businesses and shop here!

Yelp
The absolute best and only pace to get custom invitations in Los Angeles. There is no place like Jonathan Wright and no one with the amount of talent Jonathan possesses as a designer. What a treat it is to come to this magical shop. You will find yourself creating excuses to get paper goods designed and printed for any and all occasions.

Johanna G.

Yelp
I feel saddened that I am giving this place two stars. I was excited about the store and services. I am very happy with the end product that I ordered, but I will have to say the owner is a major pill and such a drag to work with. He has a stick up his arse so high up, it's not even possible to get a sincere smile from him. I guess he could behave that way since he owns the store but you would think he would want repeat business. Definitely the attitude is a major problem and I will not shop there ever again. The girls that work there are definitely nice but if ur dealing with special orders you will deal with the owner. It was so hard to get a quote, email response, follow up sucked. I felt like I was constantly chasing him. Yes, he delivered me great product at the end of the day but to be quite honest, if I were to act like that with my clients they would just get rid of me. It's just not acceptable. I also think their cards are overpriced and not as diversified as maybe Soolip. I recently went to Soolip and was surprised that they also have letterpress cards that have more fun and play then Jonathan Wright. In addition, the store manager at Soolip was so pleasant and quite helpful. Sorry JW, it's time to get an attitude change and give some authentic TLC to your customers who pay a lot of money for letterpress work.

Yelp
i hate giving this place such a low rating because their products are incredible but the customer service was so unbelievably poor i just don't think i'll go back. now, i had to place my order over the phone so perhaps going into the store the service is a bit better so keep that in mind. i felt like i had such a hard time getting in touch with jonathan and getting solid answers. i would place calls, leave messages, and get no call backs. i sent an email with questions such as "when will i receive my final product?" and it took 3 days to get a proper response. it was frustrating because i was under a dead line and needed to know these simple questions. in fact, i don't even think that is a questions i should've had to ask, it should have been laid out for me. one time the estimate they had initially told me changed and no one had let me know so i received my mock-up a day later than i had expected it. i felt like i had to call them to make sure they were staying on top of my project. i'm not sure if they were understaffed for the holiday season and that is why their customer service was so poor but i would suggest hiring someone else if that is the case!

Taji M.

Yelp
This is truly one of the best stationery stores in LA. I'm a paper junkie -- love all things made from lovely, high-end paper and this place is truly a candy store. Not only is their custom work spot-on, the owner/buyer has a great eye for unique gifts. This is one of the few stores I can walk into and always find the perfect gift -- partly because of the excellent selection, and largely because of the helpful staff who have many times skillfully helped navigate me through their diverse selection. Buying gifts for other people is a lot of fun in this store.....but mostly I'm just looking for an excuse to go in to get something for myself :) It's also worth noting that there is a great selection of price here -- you can find a simple gift for $15 or splurge for that special gift....

Yelp
I can't speak highly enough for Jonathan Wright & Company and his approach for custom invitations and signage for my daughter's recent wedding. My daughter and I worked directly with Jonathan to design the Save-the-Dates, the formal invitations, the ceremony program and much of the signage. At each stage of the process, Jonathan spent time with us to provide ideas and insights into what would fit into my daughter's vision for the wedding. The results were both elegant with a bit of rustic charm that we wanted for an outdoor wedding at an east coast farm. We got innumerable compliments about the invitations and save-the-dates and our guests loved the custom cards for writing notes to the bride and groom. If you are looking for unique cards and stationery with extraordinarily create guidance, you can't do better than to use Jonathan Wright & Company.

J C.

Yelp
If you love the handcrafted elegant look of letterpress, you must check out Jonathan Wright (formerly Claudia Laub), a lovely little brick space on Beverly. In addition to quietly whimsical cards for all occasions, the shop carries retro European children's toys and books, travel journals and address books, and beautiful imported wrapping paper. The wall along the back features a selection of the significant business they do in wedding invitations, birth announcements, and other personalized stationery.

Yelp
Bought a birthday card here recently. LOVED the old school jazz & woody allen soundtrack type music that played in the store. LOVED the staff. Very cool store and experience. Will be back for skull & crossbone letter labler.

Amy Y.

Yelp
I've only used their online catalog, but I love their cards.

Mary S.

Yelp
Love this place. High end (and very pricey) stationery that is gorgeous! I want everything in this store!

Stephanie A.

Yelp
This place is a treasure trove and walking distance from my apartment! As an expat in LA i send a LOT of greeting cards and this is now the only place I buy them. So much more original (and cheaper) than Papyrus.
