"Jones Bar-B-Q is in the front corner of a strip mall parking lot. The former taco stand reborn as a takeout barbecue joint has picnic tables and string lights that stretch from the white pergola above the window where you order. It’s there that you’ll likely see Deborah “Little” Jones or her sister Mary “Shorty” Jones Mosley slinging burnt ends (crispy bits of smoky, fatty brisket)—the signature barbecue dish of Kansas City. The sisters were introduced to a national audience on Queer Eye, but they’ve been a staple of the local barbecue landscape for three decades. In 2019, they added a Coke machine along with the picnic tables out front as part of the Queer Eye makeover. And that’s when Deborah Jones started wondering why nobody had ever thought to make a barbecue vending machine. Jones is a lunch-only operation. It opens at 11 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday and dishes up hot food until 3 p.m. or whenever they sell out. Regulars have long asked for longer hours. And Deborah Jones has had to answer the same pleas for her rib tips in the wee hours of the morning from patrons of a nearby bar, lured over by the siren smell of barbecue smoke. It took six months to figure out the packaging and system. Barbecue can be fickle. Jones’s regular menu items have been reborn as sliders inside clamshell packaging. Pick from rib tips, burnt ends, and smoked and sliced ham and turkey. Each mini sandwich comes with a small container of house barbecue sauce and a side. Get the creamy potato salad, if it’s available. The Kansas City region has more than 100 barbecue restaurants, but this is the only one where barbecue is available at the push of a button." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

"Sisters Deborah (“Little”) Jones and Mary (“Shorty”) Jones Mosley scored national attention after their 2019 appearance on Queer Eye. But locals have long been fans of the sisters for their exceptional ribs, rib tip sandwiches, and burnt ends. Jones Bar-B-Q is a no-frills roadside joint with just a few picnic tables in the sun, it’s only open for lunch, and many days the Jones sisters sell out before closing. But if you miss the boat, you can always grab a turkey sandwich or a bottle of the restaurant’s signature sauce from the barbecue vending machine they installed on-site during the pandemic. The Jones sisters stay innovating; the city stays better for it." - Liz Cook

The whole lineup won’t be available if you’re arriving at the end of the night, but you’ll usually have a few options. Bring a credit card because the machine doesn’t take cash. The sandwiches are served cold, but are ready to eat after 30 seconds in a microwave." - electricelster, SemiruralYeti, jdbender

Went to this place because it is super close to an indoor skatepark that I was at, and I was told it was great food that was featured on the Food Network. It's a small building with seating outside. Tons of parking available. We got there around 1:30pm since they close at 3pm. There were a couple customers, but only waited maybe 5 minutes total before I was walking back to my vehicle. The owners, two sisters, are extremely inviting and nice. One of them asked me if it was my first time eating there, and how my day was going, which made me feel at home. A little kindness goes a LONG way, and these ladies know it! Good people make the best food! I asked her what her recommendation was, and was given a burnt end sandwich with a choice of 3 sides, I got the beans. I've never had a burnt end sandwich, and it was life changing. The BBQ is very sweet with little to no spice, just tons of brown sugar. It was an amazingly good and filling sandwich, and the beans were not bad at all! The kicker was this meal was a flat $10. I will definitely be coming back every time I go skateboarding, and maybe even when I'm not! WORTH THE HYPE!!!

Jones BBQ is the real deal. You can taste the tradition in every bite. The ribs were smoky and perfect consistency, the burnt ends were unreal, and the sauce—oh my goodness, the sauce! But don’t skip on the sausage!! And the beans are perfection, best we’ve ever had! The beautiful women running the place were so warm and welcoming, it felt like visiting family. The sweet gentleman keeping close eye on the smoker was kind enough telling my son all about what he was smoking. Kansas City is lucky to have this gem. We will be back, again and again!

Google
I love small places with lots of history. This place is right up my alley. The folks who helped me were awesome - super friendly - they make me want to come back. I got brisket and burnt ends. The burnt ends were pretty good - the brisket was NOT! It was so overcooked and dry, I literally couldn't eat much of it. Cook it much longer and call it beef jerky! I don't mean to sound super negative, just being honest.

Google
This is THE PLACE they have the BEST sausage ANYWHERE not just KC metro it is unique unlike anywhere else &and the rib tips very good and also not an average item they have all the standard meats all are good but the sausage is worth the trip by itself

Was in town and looked forward the entire planning of the trip to try Jones BBQ. As we arrived we were greeted and waved in like we were family. I ordered the combo platter with the brisket and the sausage with the potato salad. It was absolutely the best bbq I have had in a while! The sweet and tangy sauce that was spread over the meal made it even better! Shorty was so kind to take a picture with us and everyone made sure we had the best experience. I would highly recommend trying it out next time you’re in Kansas City, also tried some of the baked beans and pulled turkey which I would highly recommend. Either way you will not be disappointed.

Google
I happened to be in KC and had to stop by Jones to try the iconic BBQ place and I was SUPER impressed! First, the service is out of this world friendly. Second, we waited no more than 10 min. And third, the food was EVERYTHING. The baked beans were some of the best I've had in my life. That secret BBQ sauce is famous for a reason, I was even pouring it over the french fries. Those sausages were so smooth and flavourful they were delicious too. Total experience surpassed my expectations and I can't wait to go again next time I'm in KC!

Google
I went here because of the Buzz from Queer Eye, and was not disappointed. The ladies were super sweet and hospitable when taking my order then checking on us in the eating area. The food was prepared fast despite being short staffed. I ordered the sausage, ribs, and potato salad with the best barbeque sauce I've ever had in my life. (Immediately ordered more after this meal.) The food was superb and the service was amazing. It was definitely worth the hype and drive.

Google
Super cute BBQ joint! Owners were super nice, wait was 10 minutes tops. Good selection of classic Q. Delicious sauce. Sliced turkey, sliced pork, sliced ham, sliced brisket were our favorites. Solid Q from their heart. Put Jones on your KC Q tour.

Yelp
Jones is right along a city highway with a LOT of trucker traffic. I think this helps bring in some of the customers as they see it passing by. I believe it's also the only BBQ spot in the area, so I'm sure it brings in a lot of people that work or live in that area. For my experience, the only items they had on the menu were ribs and sausage. So, I chose to sample both. And while the staff were very friendly, I was less than impressed with the food. The ribs were overly expensive at $17 a plate, which made it even worse when they barely had any meat on them. This might be the most expensive plate of ribs I've had in all of Kansas City. They were also smothered in way too much BBQ sauce that I ended up having to wipe off. Despite all that, they did have a decent cook to them. As for the sausage, they were also listed on the higher end of price compared to other BBQ spots around the city. I will say that the sausage had an excellent flavor and level of heat to them, but they fell apart into crumbled bits as you cut into them. As I'm not a fan of crumbly sausage, I wouldn't see myself getting them again. Long story short, Jones Bar-B-Q has some good flavors, but the exorbitant price and execution of what is put on the plate will prevent me from visiting again. You can see more of our experience on our YouTube travel channel: https://youtu.be/PVGDpfXN4nU

Yelp
I enjoyed this BBQ!! These were the best tasting ribs I have had in a LONG time! I can't tell even without the sauce, the ribs were well seasoned. The ribs had good amounts of meat on the bone and perfectly cooked. The turkey could've been a little more juicy and had more on the plate. The beans had nice flavor as well. It was more of a sweet heat. I pulled up right when they opened. The wait was not even 5 minutes to get my plate which is amazing because some places don't have food ready upon opening. I would like to see the waiting area utilized better. Maybe some picnic tables and more garbage cans but if the place is meant to be grab and go, this is perfect.

Yelp
I visited Jones yesterday, 4/9/24, still bleary from the drive to KC from Illinois where I watched the sun disappear. This is some very good bbq. I opted for the smoked turkey and sausage plate with bbq beans. It was all delicious, but the sauces seemed a bit lacking to me. I really enjoyed the nearly constant train action across the street. It gave eating in the parking lot a great KC vibe! I would gladly return for another visit! Jones is a solid 4th place out of the eight bbq joints I've visited in KC.

Amanda M.

Yelp
Female pit masters really know how to smoke those meats! The ladies were absolutely the friendliest and helped us order a little bit of everything to share as a group. The ribs and the sausage were my top two meats of the day. The wings were also excellent. No indoor seating and drinks come from a vending machine but this spot is perfect for quick fresh takeaway. I can see why KC loves this BBQ!

Yelp
Best barbecue in the freaking world I wanna turn nobody down keep going Man, we love it

J Warren R.

Yelp
Out of this world delicious BBQ. I asked for their recommendations and the man behind the counter said their Brisket burnt ends and sausage were the best around. His recommendations were terrific. Smoky, yet tender, and flavorful in every bite, absolutely perfect BBQ. Order at the window, grab a seat at a picnic table and eat outside. Slaw was a good accompaniment. French fries were perfect, crisp hot and delicious. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich -- there was a lot of it and she raved about how delicious it was as well. These guys know BBQ and how to bring the best smoked flavors out of big pieces of meat. As we were finishing our memorable lunch, I engaged a woman in conversation about the experience. Turns out it was Cathy Jones, the owner and head pitmaster. She shared some of her techniques to bring out maximum flavor in Jones's BBQ. She starts the firepit about 1:00am every day. She said her secret was turning the meat every 30 minutes. She used only hickory wood. Meat stayed on the slow smoker for at least 12 hours or until done. I got a tour of the smoker as well. This whole operation is a labor of love and Ms. Jones is the driving force here. Even after 40 years of preparing BBQ every day, she still shows pride and enthusiasm in serving only the best quality BBQ day in day out for each and every customer. I am so impressed with her skill, motivation, and knowledge of BBQ. What a memorable experience to eat at the best of the best of Kansas City BBQ

David B.

Yelp
If you're a "people watcher", you'll love this place. You can spend an hour watching people as they sit around waiting on their food. Unfortunately, you wo t have much of a chance to watch people eat. I was there for nearly an hour and I saw two orders delivered. The food is fine just like you find all over KC, the wait is ridiculous.

John K E.

Yelp
This was a disappointing stop. $15 bought a two meat (ribs, burnt ends) plate with a side of french fries, and a can of Diet Coke. First, the wait. I was sixth in line at 11:13, and the food finally appeared at 11:51. Three customers in line behind me gave up, and took their business elsewhere. As for the food, the burnt ends were dry, tough, and flavorless. After three bites, the rest went in the trash. The heavily sauced ribs didn't have a bad rub, but they were as far removed from "separating cleanly at the bite" as one could possibly get. A steak knife, which I had with me, turned out to be very much in order. And even the fries turned out to be chewy! From start to finish, this was a one hour and forty minute lunch stop. If you choose to dine here, plan accordingly.

Faith B.

Yelp
This is an old school BBQ place that was of great interest to my BF on a recent visit. We went for lunch and alas, there was nothing for me to eat there except tiny sides of potato salad and slaw. Those were pretty good. He had a combo plate as his first experience with KC barbecue. He enjoyed the pork a lot, but was not really a fan of the burnt ends. To be fair, he's not a big beef eater. Great rustic atmosphere sitting out on the picnic tables and smelling the smoker. Friendly service.

Thomas J.

Yelp
I've never had BBQ like this before. You should give this location a try. I should have taken the photo earlier, but my goodness, it turned out so well.

Kyle P.

Yelp
The food was awesome. Got the ribs and rib tips. Really wanted to try the burnt ends but they were already out of them. A few people told me they run out of food quickly and aren't open long....the food is that good. On top of the great food and it's fast...the people serving and cooking are very nice and pleasant people! If you're visiting Kansas City and want some great BBQ, check this place out.

Richard P.

Yelp
I'm going to rank these folks a solid third in the KC Metro Area. After hearing about them from Barstool Sports Insta account I had to give them a try. Picked a gorgeous fall afternoon for my first visit with fellow aficionado Peter "The Blazer" Schmidt. A side note here: it's good that we picked a nice day as all seating is outdoor picnic tables. The staff is super friendly and rightly proud of their excellent smoked offerings. We had a nice conversation with and posed for pictures with one of the two sisters who own the place. Being a rib man I ordered the long bones as well as a Combo plate with burnt ends and rib tips. I elected for fries as my side which were good but not exceptional. To my surprise the rib tips, which is not something I consider a bbq standard, were probably my favorite. They were super moist and tasty and fun to eat for a person like me who doesn't mind sifting through the cartilage and other connective bits to get at the good stuff! I would say the ribs are on par with those at Slap's and just a fuzz under the still reigning champ Joe's KC. We enjoyed their only sauce option which was on the sweeter side but wish some was available on the side and that they had a hot/spicy option as well.

Jason C.

Yelp
Long story short, my intention was to go to another BBQ joint on MO side, but accidentally ended up at Jones due to CarPlay remembering the last maps search on my phone. It was a good mistake and glad I stopped by. It's really a small joint with the smoker to the side and outdoor dining. You order at the window, pay and wait until your order number is called. Cards only, no cash and they have bottled water or get drinks out of the vending machine. Dining was bit challenging, especially under the 92 degree weather and the sun beaming down on you. Another challenge - the files that converge on you and your food. All the food are served as to go, take it back home or back to your car and eat it. I decided that I wanted to try everything they offered and the only way to do that was to get the sample platter. It comes in a 1/2 size baking sheet pan, all the meats are arranged within the pan, wrapped and placed in a paper bag. The price is $40 before tax/tip. The order comes with fries, but I ordered bakes beans and slaw on the side. The list goes from my favorites to my least favorite. Chopped Brisket - perfectly seasoned, moist and delicious. Definitely recommend it - by itself or in sandwich format. Sliced Brisket - thick cut of fatty brisket is what I like, but their thin sliced brisket won be over. Plain or in sandwich, make sure you try this. Turkey - I'm not a fan of white meat, but if I had access to their turkey meat, I'd eat it everyday! You'll taste the smokiness with each bite, juicy and goes great with their bbq sauce. Baked Beans - awesome! Don't forgo the baked beans, make sure you get it as one of your sides. Only disappointment is that it comes in a 4oz container and it goes quickly. Ribs - the meats came off the bones, but I wasn't sold on the meats. It was Ham - first few were good, it had that smokiness in the meat, but after eating 3, it get saltier. Fries - could been fried bit longer. Slaw - could have used more sugar and vinegar. While it was creamy, it was weak in the flavor department. Sausage - the one that was cut and placed with my order was dried and hard to eat unfortunately. Burnt Ends - I get it why it's called burnt ends, but it's not worth knocking out your teeth. This is my recommendation: Chopped brisket, sliced brisket, turkey and beans - by it self or sandwich

Stacy T.

Yelp
Jones Bar-B-Q is a haven for barbecue aficionados seeking an authentic, flavor-packed experience. The Slow-Smoked Brisket with House-Made BBQ Sauce is a masterpiece that pays homage to the artistry of barbecue. If you're in the city, do yourself a favor and embark on a barbecue adventure at Jones Bar-B-Q--you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Stopped here upon coming to town just like every other white person from out of the area who has heard about it from watching Netflix Truly in the middle of nowhere - this place is on a lonely highway at the head of a strip mall. Some limited seating and all the charm of a roadside pit beef type place, we stood in line for about 5 min and placed an order. As warned online they do run out of items - and the casualty on our trip was burnt ends which I would have liked to try. I ordered the combo plate with the sausage and beef , adding potato salad and a diet drink. I really liked the sausage - though it was a little dry in the middle - the beef was good as well. Also had a turkey sandwich which I couldn't finish but tasted great. I also ordered a carrot cake out of the vending machine which I thought was a really cool touch. Alot of love goes into each plate and while we were eating, staff came out to check on how things were and whether anyone needed help. Really got me going. I would recommend this place - away from the busy streets and plenty of love from a family establishment!

Braden J.

Yelp
Great food, ribs were amazing and for a great price too! Service was great and friendly, with a great atmosphere to accompany this place.

Kim W.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite bbq spots in the greater KC area if not my favorite. I love the food here. The smoke is great on it. The price point is excellent. The service is great. The cashier remembers me & knows my order. That's always a win for me because I like easy stuff lol. I actually like the sauce too which doesn't happen often. Their sauce is pretty tasty. I appreciate the specials that they have. I've learned to navigate around them because one thing about them, folks are going to buy out all of the sausage on their sausage day lol. Good stuff.

Ralphie S.

Yelp
It's hard to live up to the hype when the national and local media suddenly proclaims you the new flavor of the month. Jones BBQ is currently riding out this media frenzy. The lines are long and the sauce is being mass produced and sold at Walmart and Amazon, yet still the Jones sisters are hard at work in their tiny ramshackle building serving one person at a time with excruciatingly long wait times. It is hard to accommodate such a demand with such a small space and one BBQ smoke pit next to the building. Smoked meats are definitely done best in small batches, and I appreciate what they are trying to do but they really need to step back and re-examine the un-tapped gold mine they are working with due to the national exposure from Queer Eye. First off, this is not the best BBQ in America, Kansas City metro or even Wyandotte county; but it is respectable enough to keep the doors open, especially when this area has very few food options. But changes really need to happen. The patio area that you queue up in is disgusting and dangerous with wooden tables disintegrating from weathering, picnic tables falling apart, and trash cans overflowing. Easy fixes - what would the Queer Eye guys says about such a disaster zone? Expand the building, move, or add a trailer. It's currently a cluster***k with staff stepping on and shouting over each other and constantly cutting through the queue to walk to the smoker. One of the draws is the Jones sisters themselves; they need to step back and oversee, not doing 4 roles at once. People love to interact with "celebrities"; they need to be managers and greeters; not frazzled cashiers and meat cutters. You only get once to capitalize on such rare national attention, I hope they can make it work for the long haul, before the lines start to dwindle. What they are serving is not in the same category as Joes, Harps, Q39... where waits are expected for best in class product. This is more along the lines of Rosedale BBQ - very adequate. My $14 combo plate was priced well with 1 sausage and a serving of burnt ends and fries. white bread, pickles and a hearty dose of sauce covering the meats, I added a side of potato salad, since beans were sold out at 1pm. The meats were fine, but nothing that I would order a 2nd time. The sauce was great and I will buy some for the house when I see it available at a retail location. I don't see myself driving across town to stand in line for the experience again. I wish them well and hope the Jones sisters figure out a way to keep from being a flash in the pan.

Danny D.

Yelp
Eastern NC BBQ at Jones BBQ is the BEST!!! Very friendly staff and excellent service.

Yelp
I've been hearing great things about this place. I was so excited that we finally got to come. They're open 11 am to 3 pm, Tuesday-Saturday. They're located in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. It's a walk up, and the seating is outside at picnic tables. It was very hot the day we went, we took our food to go. There was three of us and we got the Sample Platter which came with fries and we also ordered sides of beans, coleslaw, potato salad. (Sample Platter: Rib bones, beef, turkey, ham and sausage with bread ) Everything was delicious. They gave you a generous serving of meat on the Sample Platter. It had a good smoked flavor. The turkey was very good and I'm not a huge turkey lover. Sausage is their specialty but it a little different, it's crumbly but the flavor was good. My husband didn't care for it and I couldn't decide. We enjoyed all the other meat. Their sauce was a little sweet and very good. Next time, I will order extra sauce because we did get enough. We're sauce people! Yes, we'll definitely be back. If you haven't tried, get a lunch from this place.

Theo B.

Yelp
So disappointed in the sausage and beef tips I received. Sausage tasted like it was cooked then frozen then back on smoker to warm back up dry. Beef tips only enough to cover half of the piece of bread that was given to you. I don't have a photo but it's been on my mind how bad this place went down over the last few years. I won't be back!

Brandon M.

Yelp
Good food, a little too much hype. Long wait. Prob won't return but glad I went at least once.

Chandra J.

Yelp
How do I start this review? I don't really know how as my mom and I were so excited to come here after watching the Jones' sisters story on Queer Eye. Oh the bbq looked delicious and my mom and I arranged to come to early to check it out. We already knew from the reviews that there would be a little bit of a wait. So, as we walked up there was about ten people in line and we waited about 30 minutes. The Jones' bbq spot is a small spot with a grill next to it with about 10 picnic tables outside decorated with little lights. Pros: Their bbq sauce is absolutely amazing! You could literally eat it with a spoon. I ate it with some french fries. It has a nice hint of spice, sweetness, and tanginess. Wow and wow! Also, I did love the service. The sisters were there and were so sweet and hospitable. They took a couple of minutes to talk to us and made us feel so welcome! Cons: The bbq was not the best. The ribs and sausage were both super tough and flavorless, especially the sausage. I tried putting it on the bread with sauce and it just didn't make a difference in the taste. The rib tips were okay, but definitely were tough and had tons of fat on it. Lastly, the size of the food compared to the cost was also very small. I am not sure if I will return because of the lack of flavor and toughness of the meat.

Brent H.

Yelp
We had a great first visit to Jones! While waiting in the car for them to open, one of the sisters came out and welcomed us to get in line. As we got in line, she asked if it was our first time and made some recommendations. Even though it was just two of us, we settled on the sampler platter, which was ridiculously cheap at just $40. For the food: Burnt ends - they were good but then are chopped instead of cubed and were slightly dry. That said, they are authentic burnt ends and not just cubed, sauced brisket. Ribs - very good ribs. This was our favorite meat. Sausage - the flavor was good but it had a very grainy texture. Rib Tips - just as good as the ribs. Sliced ham and turkey - outstanding, especially the ham. Very moist and flavorful. Baked beans - excellent. Very flavorful and full of what looked like a variety of meat chunks. Fries - surprisingly good. They were very hot and fresh and helped to balance out all the meat. Sauce - their sauce has a sweet and peppery flavor profile. I don't normally love sweet bbq sauce but this sauce was good with a nice hit of black pepper. Between the friendly service and the greet prices, this is overall 5 stars. Food alone is probably 4 stars. Much better than average barbecue, especially for the price!

Yelp
My coworker and I were in KC for a conference and we knew that we had to try Jones Bar-B-Q because we had watched them on a Queer Eye episode. We took an uber and we were lucky they weren't completely sold out! We had bbq tips and some sides and it was delicious! Their sauce is amazing! Loved the vending machine and were bummed they were out of all of their nice sounding cakes.

Yelp
I use to frequent Jones Bar-B-Q as a kid when it was located at the top of the hill off 9th street in KCK. Their Bar-B-Q is very nostalgic to stay the least and after not having it for 10+ years I was super excited to visit them at there new location. The sausage and ribs are the bell of the ball here + the Bar-B-Q sauce! It was literally a walk down memory lane at first bite -the sisters still got it! I was so happy to taste the food and immediately be reminded of yester-Year. They are in a interesting location now- right off a busy industrial road in a unsuspecting building. There's outdoor seating but it's Kansas City in February (Way to Cold to sit outside) with a modern flare as they have vending Bar-B-Q Sauce & soda machines. The menu is still the same for the most part - I order the sampler platter, pan of potato salad, a link and a side of bean. Everything was excellent! I forget how great the baked bean are because all I could think about was the sausage and ribs which are a 10 btw! Can't wait to come back home and ear here again, happy to know that Mr. Hezekia recipes are still living on.

Yelp
Decent BBQ, but I've ate at alllllllllll of the BBQ spots in the area. Jone's not in the top. Don't get me wrong it was good just not as good as some of the others.

Yelp
The ladies are so nice! They asked if I was a first timer! lol They explained the menu and made some recommendations. They know what they're doing, so I took their advice and ordered the combo plate. 2 meats & a side: Chicken, Burnt Ends and Jones Beans! The food was good, but I didn't care too much for the sauce. It wasn't hittin for me. It had a slight aftertaste. I'll ask for it on the side next time. Yes, I plan to go back!

Yelp
The MOST AMAZING bbq you will ever have, and that's no lie. Mind blowing good. And the hospitality matches the food. I'd drive cross country for this place and that's no lie!

Yelp
This place is the sole reason I wanted to do a Kansas City BBQ tour! After seeing this episode on queer eye, I was moved by the Jones's story. Finally this weekend; we made the trek from Minnesota to this joint. My heart immediately was filled with gratitude and joy, as it looked exactly how I expected. The patio was closed due to social distancing but the line was still long, which is a good sign. They were out of the sausage by the time we got there (it's open until they run out of food!! FYI!!) so we settled on other items. Holy SAUCE. They only make one kind but they do it so well. We took a bottle home. I will say the burnt ends were pretty dry, and though the plain white bread for the sandwich was classic and yummy, a bun might have worked better. Oh, and while you're here make sure to get a slice of pound cake from their vending machine!

Yelp
THE MOST AMAZING BBQ INHAVE EVER HAD. I am not from KC so maybe there is better but this was absolutely top notch, delicious!! will definitely be back. The beans are unique and wonderful!

Natalie C.

Yelp
we went here after seeing it on queer eye and it did not disappoint! the men working were so sweet and if you like sweet bbq sauce you'll definitely love this place. we got a burnt ends plate & it was delicious

Yelp
I really wanted to visit this place just to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised with the customer service. Everyone there was super friendly and welcoming. The owner recommended we try the combo plate and it did not disappoint. We had pork and burnt ends.... Yummy only regret is not buying another plate to go.

Yelp
Hands down the best bbq in the Midwest we have had so far. And the ladies here are the nicest and sweetest. We ordered 1 side of baked beans and the lady said "I'm giving you 2, cause y'all gon be fighting over dem beans."...and they were some yummy beans! The burnt ends were moist and the sausages were good but very different than any we have had before. Lived up to the hype that was built from when they were on Queer Eye.

Yelp
Beef Brisket Sandwich wonderful. The ladies there are wonderful. There sisters. They have great french fries. Everything there has always been good. They sometimes have long lines but well worth the wait.

Yelp
I am a native Kansas City Kansan and grew up eating some of THE BEST BBQ on the planet!!! Sad to say, I've given this place multiple chances and I wanted a refund each time. I'm done trying. Too many other GREAT bbq places on both sides of the state line.

Yelp
Worth the trip - seriously the sandwich's were excellent. Had the two meat turkey and pork sandwich with fries. Service was quick and good. Give small business a break and run out there!

Tyler B.

Yelp
I felt the place is over rated. The chopped beef sandwich was so chewy it makes beef jerky look easy to eat! Also it was cold. The bun is the only thing worth eating, and it was some restaurant depot bought POS. The beans were ok but the potato salad had a weird taste of dill pickle that made it completely uneatable. This is not a place I want representing the Kansas City BBQ reputation. So don't waste your time.

Yelp
Personally, my favorite KC burnt ends. They are very tender with a crunchy bark on the outside. Almost enough crunch to think they deep fry them for a minute (maybe they do?). Along with their burnt ends I love their sausage. Better get there before they sell out! Once they're sold out for the day, they're closing up. Also love the vending machines to get your sauce and drink fix.

Yelp
I ordered BBQ Sauces over a month ago, my card was charged right away, but I have still not received my order. I'll update this if they ever get back to me with my order or a refund.

Yelp
I have been waiting two whole years to come here, and it was WORTH THE WAIT. The staff feels like family and the food tastes like love. I would shout from the highest mountain top that these people cook with care. No matter what season, they still find a reason to come in everyday before dawn. The food is made fresh everyday, the demand causes them to sell out every night. I enjoyed triple chocolate, lemon, and pound cake as I waited for my food. When my name was called I was ready to add two more slices of cake to my order and sit down and enjoy it all. The turkey was moist and maintained a great smoke flavor. My baked beans were loaded with smoked brisket, making every bite more enjoyable than the last. The fries were steak cut and perfectly fried. My experience here was exceptional and I'm so glad I was finally able to come. Thank you for the amazing food, and an even better way to spend my time. I will be back!!!

Yelp
Not sure why it took me YEARS to find out about this place, but thanks to friends who are friends for Queer Eye, I am happy and grateful I did. The only two female pit masters in KC killing it in this hard BBQ city? Sign me up! On a rainy day, my friend and I went a rainy day on a Saturday (they're closed Sundays) to grab some rib tips. We got there 1.5 hours after they opened, and they're out of them. Plan B? Grab a beef brisket sandwich (daily) special for $8. Really good plan - it was filling, the sauce tangy with a sweet kick, and the brisket was tender. While I can't wait to visit again, I'm a bit peeved that they are only available during the lunch hours Tuesday to Saturday. I'll make it work.

Yelp
Got my usual pork sandwich with beans, burnt ends and brisket. Pork was sliced instead of pulled which I haven't had before. Burnt ends were chopped instead of cubed too. The big momma of the house came out and asked if it was my first time and to enjoy my food. Sauce has black pepper and I really liked it. I love that you can see the bbq pit and the smoke right there. I'll have to come back for their sausage and ribs. I don't think these guys are competing with the big boys but for a family operation, they get 5 stars from me!

Phon W.

Yelp
I saw these ladies first on a clip from the Steve Harvey show, then on QE!!!! They're the nicest ladies around! I got a bunch of food. I loved the Chicken Wings and the Ribs! I thought I ordered burnt ends, but what I got was a bunch of chopped up meat in a bun, so maybe there's just a sandwich? I'm not sure, but that was just okay to me. I bought the sauce to come home and I really do like the sauce!

Yelp
This is my fav KC bbq joint. And yes, maybe it's because I love these bad ass BBQ pit master sisters. Jones was an unassuming hole in the wall that one would only venture to if they knew it was there. Once they were queer eyed, folks were flocking to come - and for good reason - this bbq is no joke. Get the ribs. Get the rib tips. They make their own sausage. Service with a smile. These women and their employees work their asses off to make the best bbq in KC. And now, you can get FOOD TO GO FROM THEIR 24-7 vending machine .

Dustin B.

Yelp
Straight fire!!! This place tops any bbq smokehouse I've been to so far. Fire Fire Fire!!!! We are from out of town so when we eat lunch and such we like to find that little hole in the back wall and support the locals. Staff was more than friendly and the sauce was impeccable. If you are in the area this place is a must. Found a hidden treasure!!

Bill H.

Yelp
We tried a turkey sandwich, brisket, and sausage today. All three were very good. They were out of bbq beans at 2:00 PM so I give 4 stars but each of the meats were worthy of 4-5 stars. We will return as each visit to Jones has been more than worth the drive!

Alex E.

Yelp
Jones BBQ sits on the old K-32 Highway aka Kaw Drive. Happy Foods West is it's neighbor to the East. Now about the BBQ: unfortunately I was not able to taste everything they have to offer due to the fact that they sell out so fast! I did get a Ham & Turkey sandwich and I have to say it was about average. Nothing too exciting or fancy about that, so I give it 3 stars. The sides were good, but once again nothing to rave about. Overall, I give it a 4 star rating due to the fact that while standing in line other patrons were eating the beef, burnt ends, and ribs, which all looked and smelled great! The ambiance of the establishment is great and it is exactly what visitors should expect from a mom & pop BBQ joint in Kansas City! Jones in KCK isn't one of your Big Box franchises, so if your expecting that kind of BBQ then this is not your place. The Pit Master smokes the meats right if front of you in the smoker right next to the restaurant. The new front patio is cool and a nice place to munch down your lunch. I'll definitely be coming back to try and get my hands on some of their other menu items! They sell out fast, so get here early!

Yelp
I knew of this place due to them being featured on Queer Eye. It was on my list of definite to-dos while in Kansas City, and I'm so glad I did! Definitely the best barbecue I had while in town, hands down!! I got the ribs and rib tips. The meat was so tender it fell right off the bone! Seasoned perfectly, and the sauce is incredible!! I will definitely be back!!
