The Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week, May 2023 - Eater NY

"I took off work last Friday for my birthday and spent it thrifting on Long Island, followed by lunch at Jordan Lobster Farm for some waterfront views and seafood. The restaurant, which in addition to being a seafood market also has an attached Ferris wheel, serves up shore shack classics with plenty of outdoor seating. We went for fried clam strips ($20) and fish and chips ($22) with extra tartar sauce on both, and because it was my birthday, I reverted back to childhood and ordered an Arnold Palmer to wash it down." - Eater Staff

Hands down, the BEST lobster in all of New York! Every bite was fresh, buttery, and perfectly cooked—melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The flavors were out of this world, and the portions were generous. The ambiance was amazing, and the service was top-notch. Whether you’re a seafood lover or just looking for an unforgettable dining experience, this place is an absolute must-visit. I’ll be coming back again and again!

Seafood heaven! If you like seafood this is the place to go! They have fresh lobster! Location: It is located along Island Park. There is self parking across the restaurant. The interior was huge and a lot of seating. Service: they are super nice. We are 9 and they arrange the tables and chairs so we can fit in. You can also see the pond with live lobsters at the back where you can take pictures and pick the lobster you want them to cook. Food: all the food was amazing! Specially the steamed lobsters because they were fresh. STEAMED FRESH LOBSTER: we picked it at the pond and they steamed it. It was so delicious and really really fresh! MAINE LOBSTER ROLL: the lobster roll was tossed with mayo celery and scallions! It was so good and it comes with pickle and fries. CONNECTICUT STYLE WARM LOBSTER ROLL: I prefer this than the Maine lobster roll because it was simple because they poached it with butter. You can really taste the flavor of the lobster. SCALLOPS with RICE: the scallops were cooked perfectly, it was soft and fresh. the rice was flavorful and coleslaw was good. FISH and CHICKEN FINGERS: they fried both crispy and inside is still soft. The french fries that come with it is also crispy and delicious. CLAM CHOWDER: very creamy and tiny bits of clam meat inside. It was good for the cold weather, Price rating: 10/10 yep it was expensive, but also the food was fresh. For 9 people we spent $1000. Not really sure if I should come back here, because it was quite expensive.

Great food, wonderful staff & great atmosphere. The outdoor eating area is pet friendly, which is always a plus. The raw oysters were delicious, and I am craving more. The lobster and king crab legs were great!!

Google
I was very disappointed with my lobster roll. It was dry and not sweet. We were double billed when our check came. We received one bill for $77 and one bill for $208. Both were charged to my credit card. Luckily I caught it. We werenot happy.

Jordan’s is amazing! We had the very best time and especially loved the iconic Steve, who was so kind and welcomed us into his restaurant like family. Our waiter Matt was also very nice. Get the blackened colossal shrimp— you won’t be disappointed!

Google
Am island park staple that never disappoints! Everything is fresh you can taste it in every bite. Any and everything seafood is amazing 👏 it does get packed so prepare for some wait but worth it 👌 they also have specials on certain days so worth checking that out. Overall 5 🌟 🤩 ⭐️

Google
Lovely place to have a nice dinner indoors looking at the beautiful water view. My food was great. Carol was an excellent server . Service was a perfect 5 stars . While We ate someone checked on us every 5 minutes. The view was tranquil and beautiful because it was raining. I love how cozy the atmosphere is and the decor. If you're looking for classy this is more on the casual side . Lobster was cooked to perfection. Huge Thank you to the young man at the register and the one that helped me pick out lobsters to go.

Yelp
Amazing lobster and Awesome service! French fries were hot and wonderful. They have some great specials on the menu. Prices are excellent. Place is clean and well maintained.

Yelp
The clam chowder and the lobster bisque was amazing especially the lobster bisque. It is always a struggle to decide which one to choose, so why not go with both. The bargain of the century was for $64.95 you get two 2 1/2 pound lobsters, two corns, two French fries, two coleslaws and all the fixings. Our waitress was super efficient and pleasant. She made sure that all our needs were promptly met. The only downside to the experience was the presence of some tiny flies similar to fruit flies while we were trying to enjoy our meal. Despite that, we had a good time.

Yelp
A trip to Jordan's was on the books for me, what a wonderful place to enjoy super fresh seafood by the water. We sat in their patio and were able to enjoy a super tasty dinner. Sampled the fish and chip, the shrimp roll was so packed with fresh shrimp, and the whole fried snapper did not disappoint. Everything was so good! The service was ok, not sure if it was because it was towards the end of the night, but empty plates were not removed unless we asked for them to removed and the waitress was slow to ask or bring drink refills, other that thank everything was good.

Yelp
With over 1,100 reviews at four stars, Yelp has this place right. We had a delicious meal on a most perfect night, sitting outside. The lobsters and grilled fish were cooked to perfection. The spicy chowder soup was a big hit. And the raw clams and oysters totally hit the spot. Service was efficient, until the end, when our server forgot the check was dropped off and instead got engrossed in their side-work. Not a problem. Eventually we settled up and went on our way. I also love a lobster bib, although getting to the lobster meat was not messy at all as it was expertly cracked in all the right places.

Yelp
Went to Jordans and had a very nice lunch. Since it was a nice day, we were able to eat outside and enjoy some of the fresh air and the sites. We shared a dozen cherry stones and each had a lobster roll. The cherry stones were very fresh and delicious. The lobster rolls were full of meat, and the lobster was cooked perfectly. Always an enjoyable experience

Yelp
Jordan's has been around for a very long time and many come from afar to visit. Over the years it has become more lackluster and unless you get the lobster special where you have to take it apart yourself, the quality that you receive for the other dishes, like the lobster Mac & cheese and the lobster roll itself are frankly subpar. Perhaps we were unlucky, but these two dishes alone were frozen and flavourless. Taste: 2/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambience: 3/5 Value for money: 2/5 What's giving this place a higher rating is frankly the decor outside as well as inside, but some of that is offset by the fact that if you are sitting in one of the booths, you're surrounded constantly by gnats and flies some thing that is a natural challenge with restaurants, but definitely a more prominent problem for this one. The best dishes were the fries and the New England clam chowder. That's a problem when you're all about lobster.

Yelp
Had the annual lunch at Jordan's Lobster Farms with friends and it never disappoints! I always opt for the Connecticut roll as i prefer it over the mayo (not a huge fan of mayo) and it always hits the spot! Portions are super generous and it comes with a lot of fries. We also had the baked clams (super juicy and plump!) as well as the calamari fried to perfection. The lobster bisque was great as well and I would order everything again. The service was great and waiter came to refill our water time to time so no complains there. This time we sat indoors with the AC so it was more comfortable than last year. Last year we sat outdoors so we were sweating, so opt for indoors/AC if possible!

Yelp
If you ask any restaurateur whose restaurant serves lobster where THEY go for lobster, they will most likely say Jordan's Lobster Farm. While they've redone the place with beautiful outdoor and indoor seating over the years, we prefer to call in advance, order a 6-8# lobster, have them steam it for us, crack it, pack it well, and take it home and eat the most amazing crustacean ever. We paid $11.99 a pound, which winds up being much cheaper than eating out for 2. Around Lent, the prices go down further. The staff are all very friendly. They also sell Chowder and Bisque as well as other seafood and Salads. Pricey, yet yummy. Treat yourself. You deserve it.

Yelp
This place has been Jekyll and Hyde for us. Really good one time and not so good other times. Fortunately, this time was the good doctor!! We came here Friday, which is Big Lobster Night where they have specials for lobsters 6 pounds and up. We came here to celebrate our daughter getting a great job so my daughter and I decided to share a 6 pounder because the 6 pounder is cheaper than getting two 2 pounders! My wife got the Fried Fisherman's Platter. The lobster was SO GOOD! Not overcooked or rubbery at all; it was tender and tasty!! And it was HUGE as you can tell from the pics! The clam strips and shrimp in my wife's platter were a little over-fried but it was still pretty good and the fish and sweet potato fries were really good! We also had the spicy corn chowder to start, which was really good and the bucket of steamers, which seems to get smaller every time we come here but still enjoyable. All in all, a really good meal!!

Yelp
Food is fresh and delicious. Service is fast . Great place for party. They have private parking lot .

Yelp
Went here for the first time with my friends and it was amazing! Although the lobster roll was very pricey (as always), what you get is definitely worth it. There was a huge amount of lobster and fries in the order and we were stuffed after. It was a nice take out window and they had seating in the back for people that weren't meeting at the main restaurant. The service was quick and everything was delicious, will be coming back next time I'm craving a lobster roll!

Yelp
A Long Island Summer must-do. On a nice warm summer day, this is the perfect place to sit outside and eat. While the Maine lobster roll is always my fav, you can't go wrong with a Connecticut lobster roll, fried fish basket, or anything on the menu for that matter!
google avatar

Nataliya K.

Yelp
We had an amazing time with my friends celebrating Father's Day. Lobsters, lobster roll were to die for, service was attentive and friendly . We were sitting outside with the amazing water view.
google avatar

Caroline C.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot! Especially in the summer. The lobster rolls are the best! I like the warm ones more. The staff is always great and you cannot beat this view. Eating on the water in the summer is the best!
google avatar

Jim W.

Yelp
Beautiful weather for Father's Day. Wanted oysters and a cold beer. This is one of the few places in the area for that. They have a nice outdoor area right on the water. The entrance to the area is mixed with table service, so let the host know that's where you're headed - otherwise it would have been a 20-30 minute wait.. The take out window is right by the entrance. Got a dozen and a half oyster, lobster bisque, spicy corn & crab chowder and 2 corona beers. Oysters were fresh but only a couple that were decent sized. Both soups were okay. I know oysters are pricy, but it was $85 total. Unfortunately no half stars, other than the mix up at the host stand and the high tab for more or less apps - I would gave them 3 1/2 stars.

Yelp
Had such a lovely dinner here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night. It was a bit of a drive coming from Queens but it was completely worth it. I'm a huge lobster fan and this place did not disappoint. The downfall is that they don't take reservations so the wait can be a bit long (40-50 mins) but the good thing is that they have a bar outside where you can get a drink while you wait. The piña coladas were a bit watered down but the vibe was good so I didn't mind. Once we were seated, we ordered the 3 lobsters that come with 4 sides. We also ordered a pitcher of sangria that was very tasty but was filled with too much ice. The lobster was absolutely heavenly, the lobster meat was tender and paired so well with the melted butter. The corn was sweet and the baked potato with the sour cream was exactly what I was craving. I will absolutely be returning.

Yelp
We were craving for seafood so we came here to eat last weekend. We ordered to share: 1) small cup of the new england clam chowder, 2) fried scallops w/ fries, 3) maine lobster roll w/ fries, 4) 2 lb boiled lobster w/ a side of onion rings. New England Clam Chowder - it was good but not the best I had (Pike Place Chowder one in Seattle was the best I ever had). The chowder was not that chunky and a bit more watered down. Fried Scallops (that comes w/ fries) - It was ok. The fried scallops were not that seasoned or super crispy. The fries was so-so & didn't have much seasoning or crisp to it. Maine lobster roll w/ fries - This was probably one of the worst lobster rolls I have eaten. The roll was not toasted and soggy, the lobster pieces were tough and rubbery. We were quite disappointed w/ this item as it was $31.95 + it did not taste good at all. 2 lb boiled lobster (served w/ corn on the cob, coleslaw) & we opted for onion rings (as all our other food items had fries on them + the fries were not that good). Sadly to say, the best item from this 2 lb boiled lobster entree was the onion rings.. The lobster was tough & rubbery to chew - perhaps they over cooked it or the lobster itself was not that fresh. The corn + coleslaw was ok. This item cost $66.95 & the only thing worth mentioning was the onion rings. We were very disappointed w/ this item the most. The staff was friendly & attentive. There were tons of indoor & outdoor seating area. We were happy to try this place, but I don't think we will be returning. I hope the quality of their foods can be improved, despite inflation issues. I hate to see a establishment that has been operating since 1938 go downhill.

Yelp
Seafood can be pricey, but I really love this spot. I usually go for the king crab or snow crab, and the freshness is always top-notch--it's definitely worth it. My only wish is that they took reservations, as the lines can get long and it's often quite busy.

Brandon L.

Yelp
Whenever family or friends visit me I take them to Jordan's. This place is amazing. A dozen oysters, followed by a whole lobster. So good. And not expensive either. They do get crowded, but you have to expect that when the food and service are this good.
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
5 stars for the incredible lobster bisque- silky, decadent and well balanced, it's absolute perfection! 2 stars though for the lobster roll- for $36 dollars I could not believe how bland and bad it was! There was not a hint of any kind of Mayo or sauce on the roll, and while there is a fair amount of lobster packed in, it's just unfortunate there's not really any flavor to it. The fries on the side weren't very good either just bland filler because they know for $36 the lobster roll is just not enough to feel full and there needs to be something else to justify that cost! A lot of my pieces were also very chewy and rubbery, not what you want in a lobster roll. I will be back for the bisque and only the bisque from now on! Kind of tough to justify the expense for a walk up and order type of spot.
google avatar

Ekat G.

Yelp
Okay okay riding around looking for some good seafood saw a sign it's a market and a restaurant. The fish and seafood at this market look very fresh you can tell by color of products etc... so we ordered lobster roll and it was over cooked very chewy and tough so that was disappointing, the fried clams were very good!

Roni T.

Yelp
Best Lobsters Anywhere!!! Good service doing all the right things. Feel the sea, as you dine in a beautiful harbor setting. Our always go to place!

Jill R.

Yelp
Lobster Heaven. We have been going to Jordan's for years. My sister and husband come down from Buffalo and one of our stops is always dinner at Jordan's. Our experience was always great this one was just outstanding. From the minute we walked in and were welcomed by the owner like old friends we knew it was going to be a great night. Mike, our waiter, is just the best! His suggestions were spot on. Just a really nice person! Scallops wrapped in bacon, steamers and bronzino were excellent. Now let me get to the most important part. The Lobster! We ordered a large lobster. Mike found the perfect one, it was almost 6 lbs and quite honestly the sweetest and most delicious lobster we have ever eaten. Everything was perfect!! Thank you Mike and Jordan's!!!
google avatar

Shweta C.

Yelp
This spot was the bombb! My boyfriend and I got 2 Maine lobster rolls at the pick-up window for a post-beach lunch and we devoured them! The service was fast, the crowd was chill, the lobster was delicious, and the post-beach meal was exactly what we had hoped for! Thank you, I'll definitely be back!

Martin K.

Yelp
went to buy seafood for the holidays. walked into an empty store and was told by a rude man at the door (who was on his phone) "what did I want?" I told him what I wanted and was told I had to wait till a boy was available to help me. Keep in mind the store was empty. When a boy became available then I was allowed to walk to the counter. Placed my order. Why I asked for clams I was told they were behind me and ti help myself. In the end 2 pounds f shorn and. 12 baked clams cost $90! They are not the only game in town. Captain smiles next year.
google avatar

Jason R.

Yelp
The place was crowded and was a loud atmosphere with people talking. Nothing too crazy. I ordered the fried scallops with French fries. The fries were an after thought as there specialty is fish. If I had to do it again, I would order non fried fish. The raw clams were very fresh. Our server Anna was great and very helpful. She made the experience worth it.
google avatar

david l.

Yelp
What a great place. It makes you forget for a while that you're on Long Island. The seafood is great and fresh. I always stick to the traditional fried foods, and they do it well. Definitely start off with a New England Clam Chowder. It's rich and creamy. The raw clams are great as well. Very fresh.

Mr. Review ..

Yelp
Bin going to Jordan's for many years. Had the Lobster salad over greens, it was very good, large serving and fresh. Butttt...the hole baked claims were a no go, big pass on them. The service was on point, waitress was great. Only issue was I had to share my food with the fruit flies.
google avatar

Rossana A.

Yelp
Very fresh seafood. Service was excellent. Our server Ana really took care of us. It gets crowded pretty fast so I suggest coming early in the afternoon. I'm taking a star off because my fish desperately needed salt and my cheesecake was served frozen. Everything else was close to perfect.
google avatar

Yelp
Jordan Lobster Farms never disappoints. From our shrimp cocktail and fried clam strips to our 2lb lobster the meal was delicious. If you are in the mood for good seafood this is the place!

J J.

Yelp
Overall experience wasn't great at all. The lobster roll was by far the worst I have ever had. It was not fresh, dry as the Mojave desert. Needless to say, it was very difficult to consume dry sand. It felt like the lobsters were frozen 3-4 times before they served it and over cooked it where they extracted all the juice it had left. I'm addition, it was super blend with their butter! The fried calamari was good. Raw Clams were decent. Clam chowder was decent. Fried soft shell was not very good. The breading was too hard and didn't taste very pleasant. Alyson M was our server and the service was super slow and inattentive. We had to ask where she was on numerous occasions. We were never asked if we wanted a refill on our drinks. On a hot day with barley any service, we just wanted to leave and never come back! Jordan, you need to do better! Otherwise, no more business for you.
google avatar

Joe M.

Yelp
Went here for an anniversary lunch with my wife. Had a great time. We got oysters, lobster bisque, fried shrimp, and 2 lobster rolls. Everything was very delicious. The staff were very nice and helpful. Can't wait to come back with our kids.
google avatar

Ming M.

Yelp
Finally, we had dinner here. The appetizers were delicious, especially the fried calamari with spicy mayo and tomato sauce. Excellent baked clams in a lemon wine sauce. Also tried the fire cracker shrimp, pretty good. The cocktail sauce is too sweet for me. The crabcakes were delicious with green beans and rice. The fish market in the front sold fresh and frozen seafood, as well as soups and salads. I wanted to get everything! The only thing was the restrooms were not the cleanest and could use a good scrubbing.
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
Really good seafood here. On a friday night you should probably get a reservation otherwise you might have to wait. Or you can order from a smaller menu at the window and bring it to the self-serve tables. Friendly staff and quick service. It has probably the best lobster rolls in this area.

Chris C.

Yelp
It's best to come here at this wonderful place in the summer time and sit outside. The sea food cant be beat, That's why the are always so crowded.
google avatar

Bianca C.

Yelp
Came here for lunch one afternoon and when I say this place is amazing I absolutely can't wait to come back. There is indoor & outdoor seating available and really there plenty of seating outside. My server was great her name was Melissa and she was attentive and gave her opinion on many items, she also gave suggestions and constantly checked up on us to make sure we were alright. I of course started with a dozen raw oysters and they were perfection and 4 baked clams that were also really good I do wish I would have gotten more. I was in the mood to taste a few items so I one went with this great special they offered which was a 2 lb whole lobster that came with three sides. It was really good they do have so many lobster options so lobster lovers tune in. I ordered a crab cake sandwich and this I should have passed on it was not for us at all. I also ordered fried shrimp with sweet potato fries the shrimp was excellent great size and the sweet potato was unreal the best I've ever had I mean I hate ordering them from places but here they are amazing. I can't wait to come back and have a few drinks and some more lobster check them out!!!!!

Thomas S.

Yelp
Everything is very fresh and delicious. I miss buying my fish there for the holidays since I live in FL. now . I will never forget. I'm very excited to see that your business is still alive and well.Thank you from Floral Park JLF. for all the great holiday memories throughout the last 30 years. God Bless all you put your hands to.

Yelp
We love Jordans!!!! Both the market and the restaurant yesterday we went to the market and purchased 2 large lobsters to go they are amazing.... Cooked cleaned and cracked. In the restaurant I have had many lobster rolls however Jordans are the best on Long Island. All the seafood I have eaten there is served with a smile and is very tasty. Ambiance is nothing special it's clean and simple with outdoor dining available.
google avatar

Cass W.

Yelp
Our waiter was low key nasty. He smiled in our faces and then grumbled offhand comments under his breath. He said the potato salad was "made fresh", then the fool proceeded to bring out slimy, clearly old potato salad. Food was OK, but when we got our cards back after paying, the card chips look like they were stabbed in an act of mild vandalism. What an upstanding citizen this guy was. Time to stick him in a lobster trap and throw away the key.

Jerry T.

Yelp
Seafood is really good and tasty. causally come from Brooklyn cause it's that worth it.
google avatar

Sam K.

Yelp
Food is great and vibes are awesome! They have a restaurant and a couple bars, so it's a great place for some food or just a drink on the water. They also have a small window next to the restaurant if you want to order food to go. I highly recommend coming here for the food if you're a seafood lover like myself. They have so many options, and everything is very fresh. We got the oysters as an appetizer, and I got the lobster roll as my main dish. We came on a saturday night, so there was a 10 minute wait when we arrived, but it was fine because we just got drinks at the bar. We tried the lobster beer, which was hoppy but good. This is such a fun place, especially during the summer!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
My friend and I came here in September, right before the weather got cold. We had an incredible time! You can choose to sit indoors or outdoors. We wanted to be in the sun and experience the warm weather. I loved that there was also plenty of parking. I got the Jordan's Lobster Ale. It was very tasty and I would for sure get it again. It was a bit like an IPA. For my main course, I got the lobster that came with corn and coleslaw and my friend got the lobster roll. We really enjoyed our last "summer" meal and will for sure be back again! I highly recommend this place!

Matthew M.

Yelp
Always a pleasure going to Jordan's. The staff, the atmosphere and most especially the food is always on point.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Never had a bad time here. Their lobster is awesome! Service is okay, usually if you go in the summer they are packed so service can be a bit slow but everyone is really polite. They have other seafood also they do takeaway so you can enjoy all year round!
google avatar

Nancy B.

Yelp
Very unimpressed. I came with about 12 friends for lunch. We ate outside on a nice day and service was good. I had been looking forward to a lobster roll since I made the date. They had both cold with mayonnaise and hot with butter. Several of us had them and we were all unhappy. We agreed that they had no taste. I had one of the hot ones and it was not in butter. It was definitely oil. We sat there for probably an hour and a half and had it been butter in the little container that they gave me to dip the meat in, the butter would have started to congeal. The oil did not. We paid $50 apiece, including tax and tip and that seems like a tremendous amount to spend to be so unhappy. The only reason I gave it two stars was because I felt there was a nice amount of lobster. I'm not saying that I won't go back to Jordan's, but I will definitely not order another lobster roll here. I've had better ones from Panera.
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Love this place, every dish I've tried is so good, if it's your first time get the double or triple lobster meal Comes with corn and coleslaw. Also tried the conneticut lobster roll, lobster mac and cheese and lobster bisque and all were amazing. The frozen drinks are also delicious.
google avatar

Karen G.

Yelp
The food was excellent. The atmosphere was light it was crowded the day before Mothers Day. We only had to wait for 10 minutes. The seating was really fast. We had a choice to sit outside or inside we stayed inside. There's so much food there. I took the lobster Mac and cheese to go .they didn't have the lobster claws to go. They usually have bags to go. They've extended the place so there's more space. The service was fast considering how many people were there. The prices are reasonable for what you get.
