"Jordan’s Pond House is the only restaurant actually inside of Acadia National Park, and people regularly wait upwards of an hour to have tea on the grass lawn. The outdoor space has excellent views of its namesake pond and the Bubbles, a popular hiking loop with sloping hills. But lots of people are here purely for the warm, custardy popovers served with Maine strawberry jam and butter. They’re a great treat after a long walk around the pond, and the lobster-filled popover will make you wonder why you don’t have crustacean-filled baked goods more often. " - anne cruz

"Although there were inhabitants on Maine’s Mount Desert Island as many as 5,000 years ago, it was the arrival of French and English settlers in the 19th century that brought the beautiful area greater fame. Affluent visitors from throughout New England flocked to the island to enjoy the scenic views that had been depicted in popular paintings. After they’d worked up an appetite, many of these visitors would stop by Thomas and Nellie McIntire’s tea house, opened in 1895, on the southern edge of Jordan Pond. The tea house’s specialty? Popovers. Traditionally enjoyed with afternoon tea, popovers are hollow, egg batter–based rolls. They were created by settlers in Maine as a modification of British Yorkshire pudding, and they’ve been enjoyed by Maine residents ever since. Along with a rise in the area’s popularity came a rise in efforts to protect its forests, lakes, mountains, and shores. In 1919, the land was dubbed Lafayette National Park. Ten years later, it would earn the name it still bears today: Acadia National Park. In the 1940s, the McIntires’ tea house also became part of the land, as John D. Rockefeller Jr. purchased it and donated it to the National Park Service. While the original building was destroyed by a fire in 1979, the new Jordan Pond House Restaurant, run by the park, opened just three years later. Visitors typically eat on the restaurant’s lawn, which overlooks the waters and nearby mountains. The popovers traditionally come with butter and strawberry jam. Whether made sweet or savory, this buttery snack satisfies serious hikers and relaxed day-trippers alike. Know Before You Go The restaurant is open from mid-May through late October. Reservations are recommended. Call 207-276-3316. You can find recipes for the restaurant's popovers online. If the restaurant is booked you can order popovers to go at the Jordan Pond Shop (upstairs from the restaurant)." - Abby Hanson, sondichcommercialforestproductscom

Came here for dinner and it was delicious. We shared some lobster bisque, clam chowder, lobster Mac and cheese and lobster roll. Everything was really good. The drinks were really good too. We sat outside and the view was amazing. We were served by Lucky who did a great job of making us feel good. Whilst the food is expensive, we thought that it made up for itself and the service was great. In particular you cannot miss the popovers. They are amazing and taste great with butter and jam.

Amazing atmosphere and great staff! So glad we came back the next day and planned it out better. I didn’t do much research before hand and we dropped in to see what the wait time was on a Saturday which you can image is longer. We had diabetics with us so we chose not to wait an hour 15 minutes. This is also coming into peak season end of June. However so glad I got the lay of the area to figure out how it would go coming back. After checking online that reservations were booked all the way back two weeks but saw they always leave room for walk ins. This is key and very well planned on their part. So we decided to try again on Sunday for lunch. They open at 11 and we arrived shortly after. I got dropped off to wait in line while my husband parked with his parents. Parking is the worst part of this whole situation. The line wasn’t bad and we only waited 20 minutes so we had enough time to take a bathroom break & check out the gift shop while we waited. All the food was excellent. I love popovers and these were excellent. Highly recommend the sweet version compared to the pot pie savory but still decent. Everything else great too! I enjoyed my lobster Mac and cheese. Really wish they would have the to go window for the pop overs ready. As I read that in advance and was assuming we would have that option if the restaurant was busy on the first day but host said it wasn’t open yet. That would help the traffic on busy days because bringing your lunch or snack and sitting on the front lawn is also a must. We came back and did that for supper to enjoy the evening light. Don’t forget to do some walking before or after you eat partly or fully around Jordan pond. * no idea how I am missing my lobster Mac and cheese photo :(

This is a great spot to stop while visiting Acadia without having to leave the park and re-enter (especially given the one way park loop road). The popovers are unique, but we found them a little bland. Would have liked to try the chicken pot pie popover next time! The lobster Mac and cheese was phenomenal and a nice portion. Lobster stew was yummy. French dip sandwich and side salad was a pass. Make sure you have ample time as it took us about 2 hours in total to wait, get a table, and eat. Definitely recommend taking the walking path by Jordan Lake before or after your meal.

Beautiful place with large outdoor terrace overlooking Jordan pond. We tried the big popover which doesn't taste anything special, is hollow and crispy, ate with butter and jam. Clam chowder is tasty but quite small compared to other places. You pay for the place but it's well worth it. The place is very busy, accept reservations and walk-in but there's some wait time. We were given a buzzer while waiting and could walk around or go to souvenir shop while waiting. There's also a little info desk there. You can buy the park pass at the shop. There's grass area outside the terrace facing the pond which one can also picnic and bring your own food.

High Tea is kinda iconic here. Long history of heavy hitters and artists doing their thing while enjoying the views. Food was for low T males and women, and the popover was a neat experience with butter and jam. We had tea and the whole deal. There was a cool breeze blowing through the dining room and the view of Jordan Pond and the Bubbles was actually pretty amazing. Definitely worth doing once.

Google
Super cute restaurant and easy to get to! We were a pretty big party that was seated within 30 minutes of arriving. Conveniently you could browse gift shop while waiting. The service and atmosphere were great. Food was very good and would definitely recommend trying the popovers, bread pudding and bbq sandwich!!

Google
Well worth the hour - plus wait to have the view and a popover they're known for. The restaurant is beautiful and the grounds are gorgeous. The lawn had just opened for the season and boy, were they busy! Waitstaff was friendly, I think they were shorthanded, doing the best they could with the crowd. There's a giftshop - go kill some time there. Be patient. I was glad they all showed up for work. The menu was extensive - next time I want to try the popover chicken pie. I had one popover, my friends had 2 popovers and an ice cream popover sundae! Crazy good stuff!

Great visit we had popovers first time in 4 years. The popovers were outstanding as was the lemonade. Service is still 5 stars as well and the atmosphere is fantastic. I always recommend this place to people if you haven’t been there.

Yelp
We came to maine for the week and couldn't wait to check out this restaurant. FYI MUST RESERVE A TABLE OR YOURE WAITING! I got the lobster roll, it was SO GOOD! The salad that came with it was amazing. We got the obligatory popover, it was okay, I don't know why I was expecting it to be the best thing ever lol . A couple of our kids got the meatloaf which was amazing. Funny story as the waitress was bringing the food out, one of the birds stole one of the meatloafs from one of the plates. It was hilarious. The ambiance was obviously amazing, and everyone is very friendly. If you go to one restaurant while you're in maine for whatever reason, go here and sit outside!

Yelp
The restaurant seemed like a great idea being so conveniently located around Jordan Pond. After reading up on the restaurant, we anticipated that there would be a line so we managed our expectations. However, after we put our party of 2 on the waiting list, we noticed there were VERY MANY empty clean tables ready to have people seated, or several empty tables waiting to be cleaned for the next dining party. So despite all these empty tables, we were seated after about an hour's wait. Our wait service, timing of food, it all seemed to take a while for us to order, get our food, and to get the check. The popover was just okay - you can probably get the same or better quality popovers from downtown. I really liked my soup, but the whole restaurant just did not seem to be run very efficiently. I love the idea of dining at Acadia National Park, but it is certainly not worth the hype or wait.

Yelp
I found Jordan Pond House while researching places to eat at Acadia National Park. I wanted to book a reservation but it was full. Luckily, we arrived just after they opened and were able to walk in and get an outdoor table. Dining here was a vibe. It was so beautiful especially since we came on a sunny day. I was happy to try their famous popovers and I liked them a lot. My English partner exclaimed that they were just like Yorkshire pudding. We ordered lobster dishes and they were both great. Dining here is a must when exploring Acadia National Park. I can't wait to be back!

Yelp
The views were absolutely spectacular and the outdoor seating was absolutely superduper cool to be in enough space like that with so many people while being next to the pond. The weather was absolutely gorgeous when I went. There was definitely a very long line to get in however, they did a really good job of getting people off the waitlist and then a reasonable amount of time. The food was super good. I got the blueberry lemonade as well as the lobster roll and the popovers. I would recommend getting the lemonade and the popovers as it comes combo. However, the lobster roll was a bit disappointing.

Yelp
Yelp Jordon Pond Perfect place to enjoy those famous and delicious popovers. Having reservations and eating a bit later helped to avoid the heavy crowds but be sure to check their closing times which change as it gets later in the summer season. Parking will be a challenge since this is a must see place so be sure to allow for that or take the shuttle in. Service was quite delayed but I could not fault the wait staff for that. They did their best with less help. The open lawn area with view of Jordan Pond was very relaxing and we enjoyed perfect weather for people watching and viewing the surrounding mountains. Many people come for the popular trails and hikes in the area and stopping here for a nice meal or their famous popovers is a rewarding after treat! ***** Smoked Salmon sandwich, toasted rye bread with generous serving of sliced duck trapped cold smoked salmon was most delicious and filling. I selected their side of garden salad served with a creamy citrus vinaigrette. ***** Vegan Chick pea salad was ordered by my husband who was pleasantly surprised at how fresh the salad greens were and piled high with a filling portion of chick peas, dried cranberries and walnuts, tomatoes, carrots and their delicious salad dressing. **** Blueberry lemonade - refreshing glass of lemonade mixed with their special blueberry syrup and a scattering of fresh Maine blueberries which I quickly learned just bursts with flavor for such a small berry. Those gigantic blueberries they carry in the grocery store seem tasteless next to Maine's blueberries! ***** Famous Jordan Pond popovers with butter and strawberry jam. We were given 3 instead of two since it was explained they turned out smaller. But this was no less just as light and delicious. We got the better end of that deal. ***** Flourless Dark Chocolate Cake with Raspberry sauce and whipped cream. Decadent, delicious and not overly sweet. Popover and beverage corner. We returned another afternoon just to enjoy one more serving of popovers. They have an outdoor section specifically for that but boy were they busy. Our poor wait staff person was drowning with orders. Instead of giving her and another waiter a breather, they would just keep filling the tables with customers. She apologized profusely and did the best she could. I know summer staffing drops off as people return to school but I believe they could maybe adjust the process for the staff who were working so hard. One person was busy clearing off and cleaning tables but someone could have been used to just help bring out orders to the different tables or help process the payments. They were doing everything and also had to get the little additional things that people requested which just broke the flow of her work and just absorbed more of her time, causing an everyone to have to wait lengthy periods for their orders. This could certainly benefit from being more streamlined to enhance the work for the staff and waiting times for customers. Aside from those few glitches, we were glad we had additional time to just enjoy the surroundings and the melt in your mouth delicious popovers.

Yelp
This is a must when visiting Acadia!! You definitely need a reservation if you want to guarantee a spot to sit quickly. We made our reservation a little over a month in advance. If you don't make a reservation, you can try to get on the waiting list or check out the popover bar to just get a popover and a drink. We were sat outside on the lawn which I HIGHLY recommend if the weather permits! The view of Jordan Pond and the Bubbles was stunning and it was such a nice environment. I ordered a blueberry mojito which was delicious (the blueberry lemonade was also yummy) and a popover to start. WOW, the popovers were so delicious!! They came with little butter balls and strawberry jam that paired so nicely with the fluffy popovers. For my main, I had the lobster popover with a side house salad. I loved the lemony dressing on my salad. The lobster popover was the absolute STAR though. There was warm butter to pour over and so much lobster meat!! Definitely don't miss this spot in Acadia!!!

Yelp
You definitely should stop by the Jordan pond house if you are up in Arcadia national Park! We went here after exploring the park via driving guided tour. When we got here, there were a lot of people visiting the gift shop or having a picnic down by the water at the restaurant. There's definitely a place where you can park, get out stretch your legs and use the restroom as well as they have a gift shop. But as for the overall experience, we were quoted 1 hour to be seated indoor... Even though outdoor had an even longer wait. We took a buzzer and walked closer to the water, just to see the view and take some photos while we waited. But at the water our buzzer actually notified us that we would be able to sit. We ordered a bunch of different things on the menu. The popover was underwhelming. The mussels were surprisingly delicious. The charcuterie board was a great portion size. And I definitely would recommend sharing the dip if multiple people in your party will be eating it... It's a little too much for one person. The service was absolutely horrendous. I understand that they employ younger adults during the summer, but the amount of times we had to ask for water was ridiculous. Aside from my recommendation to establish rapport with your waiter, I definitely recommend stopping by this restaurant... and FYI it will put a dent in your wallet.

Yelp
The best meal we've had at a National Park! Jordan's is known for their popovers, so that was a must get. Fluffy and light! They also make their delectable strawberry jam on site. Slather on some of that jam with the butter and you have a perfect bite! I washed mine down with the iced chai tea latte and it was so refreshing on a hot, humid day. The two of us also shared the lobster popover, which was amazing! A bit soggy on the bottom from the butter, but I was able to overlook that because it was so full of sweet, chunky lobster. My brother and nephew each got the chicken salad wrap and my niece got the chicken pot pie. They all said meh. My mom got the tomato bisque, and while I thought it was good, Safeway's is better. Ask for an outdoor table overlooking Jordan Pond for the full experience. Reservations are highly recommended via buzztable and open 30 days in advance. If you can, try not to drive there. Parking is extremely limited! We took the shuttle and were thankful we did.

Yelp
Jordan Pond House is a tea house/restaurant with breathtaking views of Acadia, famous for their traditional popovers. Is it a tourist trap? Absolutely! And have I looked forward to visiting every year for over 25 years? Also yes. Although since around 2020, without a reservation it seems like you will either: wait in a long line, possibly luck into a table, or leave disappointed, so I made reservations in the beginning of the summer. On this visit my popover was just as delicious as usual, they were out of iced chai, and the chickpea salad was under seasoned. Some curry or paprika would have gone along way here. Our server was polite and attentive. Prior to our reservation, we hiked around the pond, I think about 3+ miles and then got some drinks/snacks at the cafe upstairs while we waited on the upper level for the restaurant to open. While waiting we saw a manager (?) apparently named Nick, direct the wait staff to circle up while he spoke to them in a very discourteous and condescending way. This is no way to manage people and was very disappointing. I hope he will get it together and treat the hardworking waitstaff at Jordan Pond House with the respect they deserve. Seeing this was a total bummer and really detracted from our visit.

Yelp
Jordan Pond House has been here since 1893. I made reservations a few weeks ahead of time, and booked the first available time slot. We did the Jordan Pond Path first before heading in here. By the time I was done with the hike, popovers and a cold drink was what I needed. Apparently, you don't even need reservations if you're just getting drinks and popovers. We chose to sit indoors, but there is no AC. Outside on the lawn would've probably been better with the breeze and view. The popovers were ok. I wished I tried the lobster popover. My ice cold blueberry lemonade however hit the spot! It's served in a plastic cup that I saw some people take as a souvenir. Overall, it was nice to just sit down and relax for a bit.

Yelp
We came to Jordan Pond House at 1pm on a Saturday and needed to wait for around an hour for a table inside. Service was quite slow and it felt a little unorganized. We came to try the famous popovers, and ordered the Specialty Beverage & Popovers (2), which included Fresh squeezed lemonade, blueberry lemonade, local bottled sodas or iced chai for $14.99. Popovers were made fresh and texture was quite nice. They had the texture combination of a croissant and a sponge cake. I wish they just sold it to-go because a lot of people come here solely to try it. We went on the trail afterwards and the views of the mountains were beautiful on a sunny day.

Yelp
I wouldn't do this again. But it's hard not to recommend everyone try it once. The Jordan Pond House Restaurant feels like a "must do" for any Acadia trip, but it's overall an unsatisfying experience. The restaurant was physically very cold. We kept our coats on the entire time despite ordering both tea and soup. The stew was watery but tasty and the popovers were pretty good but inconsistently cooked with mine being a little burnt. Nothing was terrible but I really wanted something memorable.

Violet E.

Yelp
Jordan Pond Restaurant was pretty good to me and my friend. We came here wanting to try popovers, as we had never heard of them before. Since we came after the dinner rush, we immediately got seated inside. We were surprised since only reviews mentioned it could be a long wait! We ended up trying the popovers and blueberry tea combo, which was more than enough for the two of us. We followed up our meal with a nice walk around Jordan Pond. If I end up back in Acadia, I'll come back to this establishment. The servers were nice and very kind. If they could have a been a bit more punctual in bringing the check, I'd give Jordan Pond Restaurant a 5/5.

Mario R.

Yelp
There is only one option inside of Acadia, but it's a doozy! Expect to wait a while if you didn't make a reservation well in advance. They're lobster roll isn't cheap, but it's also the most generous serving I've had. Absolutely delicious and worth every penny if you aren't worried about a budget. My son ordered the lobster flatbread which was also amazing, and we all shared the Brie and lobster grilled cheese that was also very tasty. I doubt there is a better meal at any theme park, national park, water park, etc!

Sam Z.

Yelp
Jordan pond house as mentioned before, is the only restaurant within Acadia NP. We stopped in on a Saturday 4pm, without a reservation and were seated almost immediately. If you have the opportunity.... Sit outside, as we did...the view of Jordan's pond and the surrounding mountains are beautiful. Today, I had the True Atlantic Salmon ($27), bedded on Asparagus and a whole grain rice. The salmon was oven roasted with a horseradish soufflé and was delicious. Popovers are a must try, at least once... unfortunately, they weren't anything extraordinary.. a little disappointed for a 2 popovers and a single lemonade ($15). Our waitress was friendly and courteous, Overall, we had an amazing time enjoying the view, and after dinner took a stroll on the Jordan pond trail around the lake. Yelp
My partner and I rode our bikes along the carriage trail (difficult to follow- not many signs) Then we came to Jordon House for a break and to try the famous popovers. First you don't need to make reservations months in advance if you're just having a drink and popovers, it's more for the restaurant part, which we didn't do. We waited about 20 minutes and then were seated. They asked you in advance how many popovers you want and your drink selection. You also pay in advance. Popovers were ok... nothing exciting, not even the butter or jam was anything special... kinda disappointed. My partner's drink was watered down and my lemonade was super tangy. So yeah... I guess you go for the experience and to brag on Insta but outside of that...meh!

Yelp
This is an absolute can't miss when you're at Acadia!!! We spent the morning doing the Jordan Pond loop and the Bubble hike and we were ravenous. Luckily we had planned and booked a 12:45 PM Lunch reservation so definitely plan a month ahead if you want to go!! Once we got there we got seated outside and the views are just stellar. We ordered the blueberry mojitos and then we each got a popover. This popover was everything I dreamed of. Soft and delicious and the salty butter with the sweet jam was just the perfect combo. For the entree I got the lobster popover and this was just to die for. So fresh and with the butter it was perfect. You can't miss this place for the views and the vibes and the food

Yelp
The 5th of July on a Friday at 11:00 am, we were seated outside as we had a along with us. Megan and her protege Abigail came to the table quickly to take our order. Apparently Megan was training Abigail for the day. 2 Turkey BLTs, a Caprese sandwich and a gorgeous Maine salad were ordered along with popovers, blueberry iced tea and 2 Bluebery Mojitos. The food earned all 4 stars today! The Cobb salad was presented beautifully! It came with no dressing and popovers were not delivered. Megan did apologize, dressing came quick, popovers were delayed as they were in the oven. Trouble began at the end of the meal. I indicated one check to me, and Megan came with her tablet and announced to the table that our bill was $122.05! Pretty appalled that she announced it to the table and didn't show me the details and then swiped my card and stood over me for tip application. Clearing the table she spilled a plateful of food with a loud "whoopsie" just left it on the ground and walked off with the tableware. Oh, and I forgot to share she had a convo with her protege about how paying for a manicure when you are a server just isn't something you should do. And oh yes, she pet our companion and all I could think about what she was a server and when would she take the time to wash her hands before serving others. So 4 stars in hopes you will go and Megan won't be your server. I stopped at the front desk to complain about the announcing of the tab, and the two young ladies at the reception desk were lackluster in even listening!

Yelp
Definitely make a reservation a few days in advance!! We went during a busy time and ended up having to wait 2 hours to be seated. It's definitely beautiful and has easy access to the walk around Jordan Pond. I don't think it was worth waiting 2 hours. Our service was not great, he seemed to know as much as we did about the menu and did not consistently check in with us. The lobster stew was good. I did ask for the seasonal chowder and he came back saying the lobster stew was the seasonal chowder? Which seemed weird. The gumbo was delicious and flavorful.

Yelp
Everyone recommended stopping by here for a popover, so naturally it became a must-stop while visiting Acadia. Initially opened in 1893, this house has the old-time character and has become famous for serving popovers and tea and should be included on anyone's itinerary to the park. We came here for breakfast and decided to try both their traditional popover as well as their lobster popover with some fresh, hot blueberry tea. While not the best popover we had on our trip, it was still delicious. The lobster popover was positively PACKED with lobster with plenty of butter for dipping/pouring on tour. A little pricier at $35 (market price, so I'd imagine it changes), but the quality and freshness of the fish made it worth it. Blueberry tea was so good, we ended up buying some in the gift shop to bring home. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made up to a month in advance on their website. They do save some spots for walk-ins, but this wait can be hours long. So if you want to do that, I'd recommend showing up before they open and getting in line. We showed up about 30 minutes prior to opening, were the fourth party in the waitlist line, and were able to be seated right away. After we ate, we did the the 3.3 mile Jordan Pond Trail. Easy trail and a perfect activity after eating breakfast. An iconic stop for a popover or a meal while in Acadia National Park.

Yelp
Stepped in with absolutely no hope. I truly felt it's just the hype since it's the only restaurant in Acadia. We did not have any reservation and were first in the walk in line and were seated immediately when the doors opened at 11am. Maybe we got lucky because we had heard that people have waited for hours without reservations. Weather was perfect for an outdoor seating. We had to start with the famous popovers along with blueberry lemonade. The popovers came with strawberry jam and delicious butter. Absolute banger of a combination!! Glad we gave into all the hype and tried these. I have never heard of these before, yes it was bread in different shape but i have to admit the bread was very airy and soft. Did not feel aa if we are stuffing our tummies with just carbs. Husband ordered salmon ( which was ok) and I had the lobster poppers. Glad my order was just what I wanted, soft lobster and well buttered popovers. Husband loved my ordered so copied and ordered one for himself as well. Was almost about to order the blueberry pie but I need to watch my sweet intake. We then went for a long trail across the ponds, beautiful!!!

Riley L.

Yelp
We stopped here after the Beehive for a popover. We ended up getting two popovers, a coffee and a blueberry lemonade. Service was great - fast seating, friendly wait staff. Popovers, while good, were pretty average. They were...popovers. Plain and simple. Definitely went for the experience and the sights to say we experienced it, but the popovers weren't strong enough on their own to ever bring me back. Perhaps the restaurant experience is stronger and more enjoyable? The outdoor seating and grounds are beautiful. Side note: the Blueberry Lemonade and coffee were delicious.

Yelp
Tl;dr if you want to sit down and eat some fairly decent American food in Acadia, I think this is one of the only, or the only, place you'll find. If you sit outside the view is unmatched. Popovers are iconic and tasty, if a little steep in price at $5.5 each, or $13-15 for two with a drink. === We came on a Monday around 11:30 and ended up waiting around 35 minutes until we got a table. They have a nice system where they give you a buzzer so you can wander around the nearby area and store while you wait. We ended up ordering the bison meatloaf sandwich, smoked salmon sandwich, cobb chicken salad, chicken salad wrap, turkey BLT, and popovers and tea. You get a side with your sandwich, so we tried all three: chips, salad, cole slaw. Since this is the only restaurant around and obviously mostly for tourists, I thought the food would be pretty bad but was pleasantly surprised. The popovers are very tasty especially when they're hot and come with generous amounts of butter and strawberry jam. If you get the set, tea and coffee is only an extra $2. We tried the blueberry tea and the pond house blend; both were fine but very similar to your regular English breakfast. As for the entrees, I think they were all fine but most people liked the bison meatloaf the most. The smoked salmon was good, too, but nothing was extraordinary. Similarly for the sides they were all fine. The weakest item was the cobb salad since the chicken was very dry, though the blueberries in it were very good. I guess it's Maine, after all. Service was very friendly though a bit slow since they're a massive operation and understaffed. It's fine, just soak in the view and the fresh air. Definitely do not attempt dining in if you're in a rush. Overall portions for the sandwiches and salad were standard bordering on generous. Would definitely come back for the views and vibes and popovers, but not sure about the other food.

The only restaurant in the park so it gets busy. A line already started forming before it opened. If you don't want the popovers you can always get the rest of the menu upstairs - but the popovers are the reason for going! You can dine inside or out, but with a view of the park, dining outside is always the best option. The staff bring out baskets of popovers constantly so you don't wait long if you order one. I got the popover and blueberry lemonade and the popovers come with butter and strawberry jam - they are so good and so fresh (I got a pack of the popover mix to make some at home. Also got the caprese sandwich, which was a big portion, fresh and flavorful. I could see coming back for the view and a morning popover. I've never had a popover before, but with an empty inside I'm surprised they don't do stuffed popovers.

Yelp
Stopped here with the intention of just getting a popover to see what the fuss was about. We came around 4pm after a day of cycling the carriage roads and were seated right away without a reservation. We got luck and were seated outside with a perfect view on the Bubbles! Definitely ask for a table outside. We ended up getting a late lunch/early dinner to make the most of the beautiful scenery. I had the lobster flatbread which was good, but the crust was a bit burnt. Husband had the salmon which he said was delicious. To be honest, the popovers were pretty unimpressive-but I've never had one before. It was more like a pastry shell...nothing in it..not even fluffy dough. Not sure if I got a lemon but we weren't wowed by them. Sort of like a croissant but not as tasty. I realize though, that this is a very famous thing to get here. Go for it if you like popovers!

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch after riding to the summit of Cadillac Mountain. Lots of outdoor seating enables getting a good view of Jordan Pond. Their popovers are a big deal, for good reason. Hot and fresh, they are light and fluffy, and the strawberry preserves are wonderful. Lots of creative dishes available. The charcuterie Ploughman's Board is a solid choice, as are the Cadillac Cobb salad and the chicken salad. When you're in the park enjoying the scenery and activities, this will be a good stop to add to your itinerary.

Yelp
A must do for a visit to Acadia or Bar Harbor! You will absolutely need to make a reservation to ensure a spot to sit down for a meal. We made our reservations about 6 weeks in advance. If you get there without a reservation, there is also a popover bar for you to just get a popover and a drink. The food was great but the star of the show had to be the popover itself. I could have eaten a dozen just for my meal. The butter and strawberry jam paired so well with it and the blueberry lemonade (or mojito) was a great drink to go with it. If the weather is nice, definitely try to sit outside! The view is absolutely gorgeous! So glad I had the chance to go here on my trip!

Yelp
WOW the popovers did not disappoint. The restaurant did seat my partner and I, who had a reservation in a seat by the back corner with no view while the sat another couple with out a reservation at quite possibly the most perfect view at the same time. Which seems a little unfair but oh well. The floor was clear to not of been swept in hours with food on the ground (which why through such good food on the ground). We opted for 2 popovers each due to the prices of everything else. Still worth the trip. Service was slow but we enjoyed each others company.

Yelp
The food is very good and the servers are friendly, but it doesn't come anywhere close to justifying the stress and time involved in getting a parking spot or the wait. They really need a better system for managing parking and managing service. First attempt: We went on a Tuesday about 11 a.m. The restaurant parking lot was full, so we went to the larger secondary lot and it was in gridlock. There were about 50 parking spots that were all full, and about another 50 cars all trying to circle the lot looking for a spot. Even if someone got in their car to leave and open a spot, they couldn't get out. There's only one way in and one way out. Thankfully we did a 3-point turnaround in the driveway and got out before we got stuck inside the parking lot. Second attempt: We came back around 2:30 p.m. the same day. This time the cars were at least circling the lot, and I won the lottery when someone came and got in a car right in front of where I was circling the lot. We parked and went into the restaurant. The hostess informed us there was a 4 hour wait for a table, or we could place reservations to come back another day. I told her all we cared about was trying the legendary popovers and could we just order a popover to go. She said no, the popovers are ONLY sold to TABLE-SERVICE. We made a reservation to go back on Thursday at 11:15. Third attempt: On Thursday, we arrived at 10:30 for our 11:15 reservation. I dropped my family off at the curb so at least they could go in and eat if I didn't find a spot. The restaurant parking lot was full. The secondary lot was also full and nearing the gridlock condition we witnessed on Tuesday. I gave up and just figured my family would eat and bring me some leftovers. Then I won the lottery again and someone got in a car to leave right in front of me. I got into the restaurant at 11:10 for our 11:15 reservation. Much to my surprise, there was a sign saying if all you wanted was a popover, there was a separate line outside to JUST get a popover. That was frustrating since that was all I wanted on Tuesday when we tried the first time. But hey, here we are and we have a reservation, so we sat and had lunch. It was a very hot day, but there was a nice breeze blowing through the open windows in the dining room. The servers were very friendly. The food was VERY good. I LOVED the grilled brie and lobster sandwich and the coleslaw. We finished our lunch entrees and told the waitress that we would like to order one of the legendary popover sundaes for dessert. She winced, made an air-sucking-through-teeth noise, apologized, and informed us that the PEOPLE IN LINE OUTSIDE for JUST popovers were prioritized for receiving popovers. YGTBFKM She said there would be a long wait for a popover because there were so many people waiting in line outside for popovers. What happened to "we only serve popovers to table service customers" from Tuesday??? We figured, well, we came all this way and we battled the parking lots three times now just so we could try a popover, so we'll wait. We ordered a popover. We took turns going to check out the view of the pond and check out the gift shop. After a while, the waitress came back, apologized again and informed us they RAN OUT OF POPOVERS and that it would take them a while to make another batch. She asked if we wanted to wait or if we wanted to cancel the order. We said fine, cancel the order. My son went out to start the car AC. My wife went to get in line to refill our water bottles (there was a line of like 12 people). I stayed to pay the bill. No sooner had they all left the dining room (waitress with my credit card, son to car, wife to water station) then a different waitress came to the table and delivered our popover sundae. ((Palm slap to forehead)) Of course, there's NO cell service here, so NO phone calls or texts. I asked the nice ladies at the table next to us to please not let the staff clear our table and that I would be back. I ran out to the parking lot to get my son and to the water station to get my wife, and we returned to our now-melting sundae. The popover sundae tasted good, but it was nowhere near good enough to justify the stress and frustration of trying to get it. My advice: Don't bother. It's NOT worth it!

Yelp
We were relieved to be seated on time after our trek round Jordan Pond, having made a prior reservation. This cavernous eatery boasts high ceilings, plenty of light and excellent views all-round. Kudos to our wonderful server Jamie who brought out our popovers and our beverages while we waited for our mains. True to legend, the Popovers were really good! We enjoyed them with strawberry preserve and salted butter while still piping hot. The Blueberry Lemonade, naturally house made, even had fresh blueberries floating atop, would recommend. As for our mains: -Chicken Piccata was very tasty, the tangy sauce paired perfectly with the sautéed organic chicken, spinach and mashed potatoes. -Organic Chicken Salad showcased a generous serving of grilled chicken in a wholesome creamy dressing with fresh crisp leaves, dried cranberries, celery, carrots and tomatoes. -New England Gumbo was quite mild, featuring two large shrimps, seafood gravy and long grain rice. This being Maine, we went with the blueberry theme for desserts. Loved the Blueberry Crisp served with vanilla ice cream and wildflower honey. Nice contrast between hot and cold, crispy and mushy. Loved the inclusion of fresh blueberries, would have also liked more crumble in this dish. Maine Wild Blueberry Sorbet was delightful and very refreshing. Both the Blueberry Iced Tea and the Carpe Diem Coffee were surprisingly good. All-in, it was a lovely meal in a nice restaurant.

Yelp
This cabin is nestled into the National Park overlooking Jordan Pond and the famous 'bubbles'. It is one of the best views from a restaurant I've ever been to. Food. I was recommended this place when coming to Acadia so we naturally did the popovers. They're fresh, hot, and airy with not a lot of substance, make sure to order more food for the rest of your hike-heavy day. The lobster popover was delicious, though $50. Generous portions and extra butter. The pot pies were beautiful too! Chai was flavorful and milky, while the blueberry lemonade was very tart. Overall it's a pricy place with a beautiful view and long wait but it's one of those places that everyone inevitably goes to, so might as well enjoy it!

Yelp
Location and view, plus the popovers make it worth it. Otherwise, the food is pretty average and we waited over an hour for our meal. Lobster roll had nothing on it (not tossed in what was listed on menu), but my boyfriend's meatloaf sandwich was good. If you go, I'd skip a meal and just get popovers and blueberry lemonade, and enjoy the view.

Yelp
I was looking forward to visiting this establishment on my visit to Acadia. However, the parking situation was absolutely horrendous! It was the worst thing that I'd ever seen when it came to parking for a restaurant. I spent more than an hour just trying to park my car! I'm not exaggerating. Sixty minutes of going from one to another to another. Everything was not only full, but there were a whole flotilla of vehicles circling trying to snag the next available spot. You have to become really competitive and vicious just to park your vehicle. Give yourself sixty to ninety minutes of lead time to park your car. It's really, really bad. I arrived and decided to drown my sorrows in a beverage, but apparently there would be a delay for that as well. Drinks are usually the first thing to arrive, because they're quick to make. However, we were told that there was only one person making drinks for the whole restaurant, hence the delay. I'd made it halfway through my meal before my drink finally arrived, and when it did, it was a disappointment. The blueberry mojito that I had ordered tasted more like flavored water than an actual mojito. No doubt this was a consequence of one person trying to make drinks for a whole restaurant. I'd lower my expectations for drinks here. The food itself was actually good. I had a lobster roll that was tasty, although the coleslaw that came with my meal felt a little plain, more like just cabbage rather than coleslaw. My sister ordered a bison meatloaf that she enjoyed. So, the food is good. Just a step above satisfactory. The service felt a bit confused. Servers didn't seem to know what was going on or what was happening. The servers were friendly enough, but it didn't feel like a smooth and organized service. We also had to argue a point about our bill because we were charged for a Chardonnay bottle when my mother only ordered a glass. The other issue here is that it took an hour out of my trip to Acadia to park here. When you visit this park, there is no time to waste. Zero. There's far too much to see, so you can't afford to lose a minute. So trying to accommodate this restaurant really ate into my day, which I was also upset about. Based on the absolute horrific nightmare that parking is here, I cannot recommend this place. You're going to lose a substantial amount of time and get very aggravated about trying to park before you even get through the door. The food is good, but it is by no means worth the battle royale that you need to go through to park your vehicle. You're better off bringing your own food or going off of snacks from the gift shop or something. Save your big meal for when you leave the park. I do not recommend this place.

Yelp
First off, remember that you're at the epicenter of a national park, and that usually comes with big crowds and difficulties in accessing services, and especially during the early season when staffing up might be a bit more difficult. We waited a bit over 30 minutes to sit down, and once we did the place did not disappoint. The poppers were terrific, the glass of wine hit the spot, the service was good, and the views and location were epic.

Yelp
Great experience at the Jordan Pond House! Made our reservation for the last of the day at 4:30- the perfect choice- early dinner. Of course the views are great, and the popovers, but the food and appetizers are wonderful as well. Service was quick and gave great recommendations.

Hallie R.

Yelp
Went while it was busy and surprisingly short wait time for 4! Server was so kind and attentive. Food was delicious, drinks were delicious. I got a burrata salad and lobster stew, my aunts got popovers, all SO good. And the views are, naturally, stunning.

Yelp
Historical, beautiful, peaceful! The food was good as well. We loved it! Parking: PREPARE FOR WAR! Parking is savage over here so prepare to spend some time scouting a spot. I wish you brave souls good luck... Location: HOLY COW ITS BEAUTIFUL! Creeks and meadows and woods and the pond and views... wow. Just wow. We had a 15 min wait and had plenty of time to pop down to check the views before heading up to our table. The buzzers reach. No worries there. Lots of bikes in the area. Some that don't know how to use them so please be careful! Food: food was great! If you're not getting poppers or lobster poppers though... like what are you even doing? And if you're not opening those suckers up and pouring that lava butter in there before you eat it... you're not living lol. Service: service was meh. Young crew but you pay at the table with them so it doesn't take forever for check which is a plus!

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday afternoon in the fall to try their famous popovers. The wait was about an hour and 15 minutes. The place felt like a large cabin house and had a view of the pond from certain spots. The popovers themselves came to the table warm and fresh. They had a nice crusty exterior with a hollow interior. They're served with butter and jam. I would say it's definitely worth a try if you've never had a popover before. You opt to get the combo with a drink, which we did. I had the iced chai tea and my wife had the blueberry lemonade. The chai tea was good and went well with the popovers. The blueberry lemonade was a little tart for my taste. I'm glad we stopped and tried it out. I think it's more for the experience if it's your first time in the area.

Yelp
Find a place that has been doing one thing for decades and eat that - Anthony Bourdain. The man couldn't have been more accurate and he captured the perfect spirit of Jordan Pond House Popovers. Sure they have other things on the menu, but these are the Mount Rushmore of Popovers. Forget the grilled cheese, the tuna melt, the caesar salad,. Pulease!!! These are the bomb. Eat them with a root bear and be happy!

Michaela B.

Yelp
Come for the view and risotto. Leave if you want quite literally anything else. Service is amazing but they do need to amp up their food.

Yelp
They always have a long wait during lunch but it is well worth it for the famous popovers. Luckily on this overcast day we were able to secure an outside table for 12. And thank goodness there were no bee's swarming around our tables due to the weather. Everyone had to get the popovers which were devoured by all of the kids. Everyone enjoyed all of their entrees. Our friend was praising the lobster grilled cheese. The Brie was a great compliment to the lobster. It didn't overpower the delicate lobster meat. Another friend loved the lobster popover because of the lobster meat. She said she could do without the popover as the vessel and would've just ate the lobster. My hubby's massive meatloaf sandwich was delicious, flavorful and the bread was nicely toasted. I believe the toasted bread is an improvement from the roll we had on our previous visit. My salmon plate was delicate and I loved how I could use either the toast or cucumbers as my base for the salmon. I couldn't get enough of the creamy Boursin cheese with the capers. I will say I also ordered a side salad with their lemon mint dressing but I don't think I needed it since I was stuffed from the popovers. Even though everyone comes for the popovers, everything else on the menu is worth trying for an overall experience of Jordan Pond House.

Yelp
Jordan Pond House in Bar Harbor stands out as an exceptional dining experience. It has a warm inviting ambiance with vintage photographs and wooden accents, which created a charming atmosphere. However, it was the stunning views of Jordan Pond and the surrounding mountains that truly took my breath away. The menu at Jordan Pond House showcased a commitment to using locally sourced ingredients, resulting in dishes that celebrated the flavors of Maine. Our waiter made a few recommendations and all of them were outstanding. The salmon was perfectly cooked/ full of flavor and the recommended artichoke dip was the perfect way to start the meal. Yet! No visit to Jordan Pond House would be complete without indulging in their famous popovers and tea. These warm, airy pastries, served with butter and strawberry jam, were irresistible. Also, they have a house blueberry tea that you can't leave without having. It left me craving for more. The attentive service at Jordan Pond House added an extra layer of excellence to the dining experience. The staff's genuine passion for the establishment and the surrounding area was evident in their knowledgeable recommendations and attention to detail. Their warm hospitality and impeccable service ensured a seamless and memorable visit. In conclusion, Jordan Pond House in Bar Harbor is a culinary gem in and outside of national parks. The combination of its stunning location, delectable cuisine, and attentive service make it top notch!

Yelp
I've been coming to Jordan Pond House for nearly 40 years and things have gone far downhill this year. For starters, popovers are no longer included free with any meal or appetizer -- they cost $5.50 each, and are smaller than they have been in the past. They've also done away with the simple syrup alongside the lemonade, so you can no longer sweeten it to your own preference. Dinner fare is now the same as lunch fare, and it is no longer a place to go for a nice dinner as the options are largely sandwiches and the tables are outfitted with paper napkins and disposable butter and jam containers. Our dinner experience two nights ago was abysmal. Our waiter asked if we were ready to order and after we said yes, he walked off without taking our orders and made the rounds to three other tables before we had to call out to him to get his attention to order. We then asked for a round of popovers to be brought to the table, but he seemed to have forgotten about us. Once we finally got our popovers, they were cold. We also ordered an appetizer, which didn't arrive until they were bringing out the last of the entrees to the table. When we raised the issue, we were told that the restaurant didn't serve appetizers in advance of the meal, that all food is brought out at the same time. We cut our losses and skipped out on dessert because the experience and service were so bad. When we left, all of the lights outside the restaurant and in the parking lot were off, posing a safety hazard. We tried to come back another day for tea and popovers. After learning the wait was an hour, I asked if we could make a reservation for the following day. The host said they were booked out until October, and when I said I was able to make reservations earlier this week for this week, she copped an attitude and said she didn't know how I was able to do that. Five minutes later we called the phone number and lo and behold, we're able to secure a reservation for tomorrow afternoon. All around, the food, service and atmosphere have fallen far short of what I've come to expect from Jordan Pond House.

B R.

Yelp
It's a great setting by Jordan Pond but without a reservation, the wait would've been about an hour & a half for lunch. There was a separate line for the popover & tea on the lawn but we needed real food. And unfortunately, when we opted instead for the takeaway premade sandwiches, there was nothing left but a few sad looking ham sandwiches & overpriced bags of chips. And a bag of pricy trail mix, which ended up being lunch. On the plus side, the gift shop was larger than expected, with lots to choose from & a super friendly staff. If we were to return, we'd definitely ensure we had lunch reservations.

Evelyn M.

Yelp
If you're in Acadia you must stop at Jordan Pond House for their popovers. The popovers are outstanding. They come out so hot the butter melts right away. We also had a chicken salad wrap and lobster gnocchi Mac and cheese. These items were good too. Besides the food the location is super charming. The server we had was super nice and helpful. We drink a lot of water and they made sure that our glasses were never empty. If your up for a hike, there's a nice hike around the lake that's about 3 miles long. It is totally doable even if you're not a hiker.

Bill S.

Yelp
I am a sucker for historical places and have a weak spot for historical food locations and Jordan Pond House hits both notes. This place on a lake is beautiful, but it can get crowded (make reservations) and parking is a major hassle (take the free bus), and all dining options are not equal. The most desirable and hardest to get tables are outside on the lawn, and most of those are taken well in advance. I arrived at 12:30pm without a reservation, put my name on the waitlist, got a pager, was told it would be 45 mins, then walked down to the lake for some pictures. About 25 minutes later, my pager began to vibrate as my table was ready. I sat inside the restaurant, near a window, so the views were great, but clearly not as good as outside on the lawn. I ordered the lobster popover $45 (ouch) and a diet cokes ($3 each glass and they CHARGE for refills). Overall, this place is way overrated, way overpriced, but the lobster is good, and the popovers are very good. Service was decent, but this place can get crowded. I do recommend a visit, but try to book in advance and sit outside.

Maura B.

Yelp
Popovers were excellent c then ordered lobster stew was ok expected broth to be a little thick and maybe a vegetable but thin broth and a small amount of lobster. The broth was tasty. Definitely make a reservation we walked right in others waiter over an hour.

Jennifer J.

Yelp
The service was terrible. Our waiter seemed to forget about us. The sodas were flat and bad. They were out of half the menu. The only kids option was pb&j, despite what their website said. The pb&j was on rye and not kid friendly. Everything was overpriced and mediocre at best. The pond was great, skip the restaurant.

Ethan D.

Yelp
This is a must do if you are visiting Acadia! Make sure to book a reservation preferably for the outdoor seating on a good summer day way in advance. The prices and portions aren't the best however part of the price comes with the amazing view of Acadia and Jordan Pond. The food is phenomenal though and the popovers are a classic! I got the lobster bisque which I cannot complain the taste was really good and there was a moderate amount of lobster. The service was also 10/10 they were very friendly and kind to our family. Overall the Jordan Pond House is a great time for a good meal and enjoy a long hike before or after your meal around the Jordan Pond!
