The 15 Best Restaurants In Bar Harbor, Maine 2024

"Not to be confused with Jordan Pond House inside of the park, Jordan’s Restaurant is a homey diner that’s made blueberries its entire personality. They’re most famous for their blueberry pancakes and muffins, but you shouldn’t ignore their stacked sandwiches served on thick slices of marbled rye bread. It costs $2 extra to get your pancakes with a cup of warm wild blueberry syrup, but it’s 1000% worth it. " - anne cruz

I liked this place a lot. Came here after watching the sunrise on Cadillac mountain! I was craving a mom and pop type diner food and I got just that :) Stuck to my usual for breakfast. Their toast is good. Coffee is good too. I usually don't drink coffee while dining out. Pancakes were delicious. Staff is attentive and friendly. I would definitely want to come back here next time we're in Maine.

Google
Family owned restaurant since 1976. They serve breakfast all day, be prepared to be delighted! I ordered quiche and it came with potatoes. Everything was delicious. My husband ordered a bowl of vegetable soup and it came with a blueberry muffin. I saved the muffin for the afternoon. He said the soup was the best he ever had! Fresh brewed tea was perfectly made.

Google
An expensive dinner experience in the heart of Bar Harbor. Don't let the appearance led you into thinking its a diner. 3 in our party had the lobster roll and chowder. They said it was good. I had blueberry waffle with blueberry syrup. Market price should be stated upfront. As I saw lobster was at a low this week, yet the roll was 36.00. I found the place expensive. 6 of us it was 215.00 We asked the waitress to split our bill, she stated it would take to long and we could venmo each other. And stated that most people tell us upfront how they want their ticket split. Most waitress ask how customers want their check, she never inquired. This drastically drop her tip %. Parking may be difficult to find.

You know a place is good when you see locals there. We went here for the blueberry pancakes, Maine maple syrup, and blueberry pie and let me tell you… they did not disappoint. All the staff were so sweet, especially Cathy, and our server. We even bought the blueberry pancake mix to be able to make it again once we get home! Highly recommend for a classic diner style breakfast!! 🥞🫐

Google
This is a fun little breakfast spot. We really wanted Maibe blueberry pancakes, which they had. Very good! The prices here are pretty high (like over $7 for a single egg or $10 for oatmeal), but this we found out is normal for the area. Our breakfast combos were about $20/person (2 large pancakes, home fries, meat, eggs). Our server was very fast, efficient, and friendly. Our food came out in about 5 minutes, so they have that down to a science. The special broccoli quiche was a huge portion and very good (maybe could've used a little seasoning or salt for the crust). We were so pleased with a filling start to our day at Acadia! Thank you!

Google
Great place for breakfast. No wait either time we ate here, even during the busy holiday weekend. Excellent food and service. Must try the homefries and blueberry muffin.

Google
Glad we found this place. We were just coming out of the mountain for sunrise on July 4th. We were cold and needed coffee and food. Looking for a place that was open so early we just happened to pass by and knew we had to stop. We arrived so early around 5:50 and got parking in front. Ordered the wild blue berry pancakes. Toast. Hash browns. Bacon and eggs over easy. The pancakes were yummy. Plenty of wild little blue berries. Notable mention for the toast that is so fluffy. Eggs were over easy perfectly cooked. We sat at a booth by the counter. Loved hearing them call out the orders. The itches was very busy but everyone seemed to work well together. Service was very quick. Very attentive. I enjoyed the whole process.

Google
Impressive Early Morning spot. Can't believe how much this place offers even at 5 AM. Amazing vibe. Best place for early breakfast. The staff is incredibly active and attentive. Their in-house blueberry muffin is a must try.

Yelp
We ate breakfast here on a Sunday morning about 9. The place was already pretty crowded. We were sat quickly with a party of 5. We ordered pancakes and basic egg/meat/toast breakfasts. They were all good. Our server was friendly and attentive. Overall a very serviceable diner. Would go back.

Yelp
Blueberry pancakes are great. Everything else is fine, but didn't blow me away. A bit pricy overall and small portions, but the pancakes salvaged the experience. Was fairly busy early AM so prepare to potentially wait for a table. It's a "pay up front" kind of place so when you're finished you don't need to wait for someone to take your card and come back. Overall, worth trying if you like or want blueberry pancakes. Otherwise, at least based on the rest of the food we had, probably skippable.

Yelp
Food: The food was alright and pricey (probably due to the tourist traps around). The blueberry muffin was great! The sausages were a bit greasy. Service: Very friendly and quick. Ambiance: I love the traditional diner feel of this place! The restaurant is right in town so it gets very busy early on! We arrived a little before 8 am and we were seated right away. The restaurant had people in it, but it started getting busier right around 8:15-8:30 AM.

Yelp
A true short-order experience. In fact the pace and noise seemed to seap into the service. Not unfriendly at all, but all business and on the move. Could be easily called over, so not inattentive, but it felt like they were keeping it moving. The food was good, especially the blueberry pancakes. Party of four all enjoyed our food, but a week later we don't all remember what we got. What we remember was the experience.

Yelp
A very quaint family owned restaurant. The blueberry muffins were just delightful and what I wanted to eat in Main. We had the traditional classic American breakfast with blueberry pancakes, eggs, and bacon just like anywhere else. It was delicious. I also had the blueberry soda because I kept wanting to hear it and I finally got to try it. It was really good. We also had the cheese and lobster omelette as well as the ham and cheese omelette. Those were great. Coffee was also good. The cream of the was blueberry pie with ice cream while it was very very expensive. It was definitely worth eating. Service was nice. People were enjoyable and it was a nice breakfast for the family.

Yelp
Convenient and tasty! Service is great and staff are all so friendly. You order at your seat but you later go and pay at the front register. Lobster roll was a bit pricey but tasty. The blueberry pancakes with wild blueberry sauce were a must get for us. We got it two days in a row!!

Yelp
Service was the quickest I've ever experienced lol. I am not a huge blueberry fan but tried the blueberry pancakes and muffin. Both were ok.
google avatar

Austin H.

Yelp
Jordan's was a nice, casual, local diner. Pancakes and the signature omelette were just okay, nothing special, it was like something that you'd get at a typical diner. The blueberry muffin was the highlight and actually pretty good.

Yelp
This was a nice little find before taking a Kayaking trip in the bay. I had the tuna melt and clam chowder, my friend had the lobster roll. I got a blueberry muffin to go. Service was a slow throughout. It was good that we included a lot of extra time before we had to meet for the kayaking excursion. The food was good. The weirdest part was my friend and I split the check. She paid first, and I paid after using the bathroom. I probably could have walked out and not paid since I kept getting put off while standing in line to pay. I think they thought I was waiting for a seat because so many people came to grab to go food and got to pay. It was a little odd because we had been sitting at the table right next to the cash register. I was finally able to pay after the lady at the register said that [my] table hadn't finished paying, and I said I had been standing there waiting to pay. They forgot to add the chapstick that I wanted to buy on the bill, so I just left it and went because I didn't want to wait any longer, we had to meet for the trip. Overall, if you're in a rush, don't go here, but it was a nice experience.

Yelp
The blueberry pancakes and blueberry muffins were very good! We ordered the haddock chowder and lobster omelet and they were okay. The lobster omelet didn't have enough lobster in it to justify the price. We went at 7AM and they didn't have a long wait but there was a wait starting around 9AM when we left.
google avatar

Yelp
We came in every morning while in Bar Harbor for their blueberry muffin and the blueberry pancake syrup. The eggsAnd sausage were great too.

Yelp
Picture this: you're up at 4:00 to catch the stunning East Coast sunrise from Acadia National Park. A satisfying breakfast afterward is tempting, but most breakfast spots in Bar Harbor open at 6:30 or 7:00, and you can't wait that long. Don't worry--one place opens at 5:00: Jordan's Restaurant. If this is you, don't hesitate. Go to Jordan's! In business since 1976 and very busy every morning we passed by during our vacation, Jordan's must be doing breakfast right. So, we went right after our Maine sunrise. It's a classic New England, home-style breakfast joint serving up local fare. That means they prominently feature wild Maine blueberry pancakes and muffins. Surprisingly though, there wasn't a lobster something-or-other on the breakfast menu. It's cute inside, in a rustic, 1950's, sort of way. How could we help but order a grilled wild blueberry muffin to share? We did, and it was fantastic! So was my bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on a toasted English muffin. So was her oatmeal with, you guessed it, blueberries (with a side of bacon for protein, of course). The staff was friendly, efficient, and plentiful, which isn't always the case in a super-busy breakfast place. Whatever the reason, if you're in Bar Harbor and don't want to wait for breakfast until everyone else wakes up and does the same, head to Jordan's.

Yelp
The food here is fine, but a little bit pricey. Not a ton of options, mainly diner staples, but they can make substitutions and swaps so that's nice. The atmosphere is cute, real Maine diner feel and the service was fairly quick. The highlight was the blueberry muffin by far. If the price point was lower, I'd give this place a 4/5 but I didn't think the food quality justified the cost. Bathrooms are stalls, large and generic, good for the size of the restaurant but vibe wise was boring.

Yelp
Day trip to Bar Harbor ended up at Jordan's Restaurant for breakfastBlueberry muffin was warm and fresh although I wished the waitress suggested grilling the muffin, as was enjoying my 1st bite I saw 4 grilled muffins being delivered to another table. The blueberry pancakes were lite and fluffy but I would ask for extra blueberries next time. The character of the restaurant has a very nostalgic look and feel. Street Parking is a few and all of Bar Harbor has Pay Stations. Be prepared

Yelp
this place rocks. get the chicken salad sandwich, so good i dream about it sometimes. we're from nc and traveled here for vacation. this was the only place we went to twice. the chicken salad sandwich had me clutching my pearls, and i don't even normally order stuff like that. if you don't try this place while you're in town, you're missing out.

Yelp
After my failed attempt at seeing the sunrise at Cadillac mountain, I wanted to treat myself and came to this place. In my previous visit to Bar Harbor, I kept on seeing this restaurant, and I wanted to try it, but my other family members did not feel like blueberry pancakes. Well, I am by myself, and there's not many places that are open super early. This must be one of the earliest opening place here, at 5AM opening time. They were not kidding when they said 50s vibes, the diner look is real, and it doesn't look new, but doesn't look run down either. Was greeted by nice lady in the middle of the diner who runs the register - you don't pay at the table, but you bring on your way out - Korean style or maybe that what they did in 50s. A gentleman came with water and asked me if I wanted coffee, of course and he went and came back with coffee that was pretty good. Ordered blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup that set me back $15. ouch.. yeah.. there's a reason why we didn't come here. but looked glorious. I probably would have split with another person, but I decided eat everything myself including butter. The blueberry syrup comes in a small plastic container, it looks small, but is plenty for the two pancakes you get. Now I will got take a nap. people were pleasant and it was easy good breakfast. pretty busy, but the food came out in reasonable time.

Yelp
After a long morning of getting the rough tour of Acadia National Park, all Toby and I wanted was to try what a Maine lobster roll was versus a Boston one. And, man, does Jordan's sell some honking lobster rolls. The lobster was chonky, meaty, and juicy with enough pieces to fill a jigsaw puzzle. I also found the mayo sauce and other spices a perfect vessel to slather the meat in. The bun was a good size as well, as I had worried that it would be flimsy and Ill-proportioned like some other places do it. I have to say that was one of the best examples of a lobster roll I have ever had. I also would like to point out, if you go, you have to get the Wild Maine Blueberry Muffin as dessert/snack. It's so wild, it's almost crazy. I love blueberry muffins, but this was something else. Maybe a blueberry personal cake.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
Very typical, mediocre diner experience. The pancakes taste like Bisquick and are undercooked (as other yelpers have said). Coffee is watered down. They *do* have non-dairy milks available so that was appreciated. Food comes quickly. Service was very get-down-to-business, not that friendly like we have experienced at the other places. We had no trouble getting a table around 9am but was quickly filled up soon after that. The ham was a good alternative to sausage and bacon. The breakfast potatoes are very good, but too salty. I would not go back. Don't recommend unless you just are looking for a super traditional small town diner experience. I prefer something a bit more elevated, and there are better places in town in my opinion. This was a disappointment.

Yelp
If you're ever in Maine and craving an unforgettable dining experience, Jordans Restaurant is an absolute must-visit! I went to Maine with my family and this restaurant provided a homey brunch feel. The blueberry pancakes at Jordan's Restaurant are to die for! The wild Maine blueberries are scattered throughout the pancake. The pancakes are fluffy and light with the burst of sweet juicy Maine blueberries in every bite. Next, the omelettes are a savory sensation. Made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, they are a customizable masterpiece. The omelettes are generously portioned and very fluffy and served with a side of toast. Overall, Jordans Restaurant is a must visit restaurant in Bar Harbor.

Yelp
Given the reviews and ratings we were looking forward to Jordan's as our first breakfast in town. However, the novelty quickly wore off. One plate of blueberry pancakes (which is 2 pancakes and nothing else -$14 ), a bacon & cheddar omelette with wheat toast ($14) and a single blueberry pancake ($7.39), one coffee and one water - $41.01. While the service to seat us and take our order was quick, the quality of food and follow up service was lacking. The plate of 2 pancakes looked amazing, while my single plate pancake was thin, soggy and not done throughout. My bacon and cheddar omelette was like something you'd see on a food network challenge, but not in the inspirational way. The omelette was wrapped around full pieces of bacon and then the cheddar was just melted in the top. Cutting it was difficult and hard to get all three ingredients together in a bite. Our server (and other servers) came by a couple times to fill the coffee but not a single person offered to fill my water which had been out since the food came so I ate my entire meal without a drink. It wasn't until our server literally dropped the check on the table and collected the plates that she asked if she could fill the water. Maybe they were just having an off morning, but it isn't an exaggeration that a McDonalds breakfast platter would have been equal or better quality. It could have just been an off day, but between the quality and presentation of the food coupled with the service and the cost would keep me from returning.

Yelp
Stop by for breakfast before leaving the town and it was a good experience. Good food but overpriced. Egg White Spinach + Feta + Tomato Omelette - Large omelette and a decent amount of feta, but there too many tomatoes and not enough spinach. Rye toast on the side is delicious! It Came with butter but I asked for one without. Super nice just plain toasted as well. Lobster omelette (+ mushroom) had flavor, but there was any lobster in there. Not worth $29! Chili Omelette was good; Love the flavor of the chili of its own, and it went good with the omelette too. Breakfast Sandwich was nice, but quite overpriced. It was pretty small for the amount. Yogurt Parfait - really delicious. Fresh flavorful yogurt and went really well with the granola and the fruit in there. Quite a big potion size as well, but not sure I would say it's worth $14. Blueberry Pancakes - Very very big disappointment! Very flat, and not fluffy at all! Barely any blueberries, and even the pancake batter was very pain. Tried to add the syrup that was on the table, but it did not help. But I did not help either. Took some of the yogurt from my husband's yogurt parfait and that's what made it acceptable. Blueberry Muffins were a little too sweet :(

Yelp
We decided to give this place a try after receiving the recommendation from a friend. There was plenty of street parking and seating when we arrived on a Saturday morning. The servers were extremely pleasant and the place is a lot bigger than it seemed from the outside. The food was great too. I ordered the hash and eggs because there weren't many alternate options for gluten free customers (pancakes, French toast, waffles) but it was okay! The hash was nice and crispy. I didn't care for the added onions though but not a deal breaker. I have to admit that my mouth watered at the thought of their blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup. Maybe they'll consider gluten free pancakes in the future. Nonetheless, the food was great and the service was excellent. I'd recommend.

Yelp
Cute little family owned restaurant with fantastic food. We ordered the lobster omelet with the blueberry muffin and the bacon and tomato quiche with a side of home style fries. The lobster omelet was tasty although it could have used a little more lobster. Our server brought over a local blueberry habanero hot sauce that elevates the dish! The blueberry muffin was tasty although I felt it was a little dry. The quiche was eggy and not dry at all. The crust was buttery and flaky. At first, I initially wished that there were hashed browns but these home style fries are amazing! They are soft and seasoned well. I truly don't know how the chefs do it - you don't have to wait long for your meal but the servers are calling out the orders and the chefs don't write anything down and churn out the meals quickly! I would highly recommend this for breakfast!

Yelp
Blueberries. Blueberries. Blueberries. In a state that's all about the blueberries...the blueberry pancakes were not cooked well. They tasted underdone. Their blueberry muffin was also underdone. Not good at all. The home fries were watery. The place has that small town diner experience, but the food was awful.
google avatar

Hallie R.

Yelp
Even though it was a busy Saturday, no wait for 4! Got the blueberry pancakes (OF COURSE) and the quiche, both phenomenal. Even had to snag some of the blueberry syrup to bring home with me up at the register when I paid. Server was so friendly and helpful, gave us awesome tips for around the area. Will be back

Lauren T.

Yelp
This place is so yummy you'll be apart of the clean plate club! I got the spinach and cheese omelet with a side of home fries and blueberry pancake! the omelet was delicious, the home fries were a bit deceiving in looks but were so scrumptious. The pancake batter was delicious so were the blueberries.
google avatar

Cyndi D.

Yelp
Def a bad harbor must. Maine blueberry pancakes. They also have amazing hot chocolate. They crank out food so your wait is super short.
google avatar

Alex T.

Yelp
Mediocre service, overpriced, and overrated. Jordan's claims to have the best blueberry pancakes in town and that's not the case at all. These were the worst blueberry pancakes we had after trying 4 different spots. For the quality, the price was too high and I feel like they use their false claim as a way to hike up prices even more. The rest of our food was just okay. Nothing special. Try the other breakfast spots in town.

Yelp
This place we seriously amazing! My family of 10 came for Brunch & they seated us quickly and had amazing service! The food was to die for! My wife & I ordered the blueberry muffin ( AMAZING), the daily special quiche (so big and so delicious), & the blueberry pancakes (absolutely incredible)! The staff was kind and fast to help with any request & the restaurant was clean & so calm!

Yelp
Blueberry muffins were incredible and the omelets were delicious and large! We were very full and took home leftovers that we finished the next morning

Yelp
Great family owned and operated restaurant. Owners greet and cook, truly family oriented. Great breakfast and friendly servers keep your water and coffee filled. Definitely check this place out. This is where the locals go.

Yelp
This place was so down to earth and fabulous. I love a good diner. I went MDW and service was superb.

Yelp
Really lovely staff and great breakfast! Detailed breakdown below: **Service, 5/5** Even though they were packed, we got seated in about 15 minutes. Once seated, our waitress took great care of us :) **Decor & cleanliness, 4/5** Older decor so not super cozy or modern, but it's still cute! **Price & portion, 5/5** Portions are massive and great for sharing family style so you can try more stuff. **Taste of the food, 4/5** - Quiche of the day, 3/5: Tomato and bacon quiche -- it was mostly tomato and I couldn't taste much of the crust or the egg filling. The cheese crust on top I also wasn't the biggest fan of. - Maine omelet, 4.5/5: Filled to the brim and very satisfying, but I'd say this is more impressive bc of the portion size than the taste. Still enjoyed it though! Toast was good and potatoes were alright. - Blueberry pancakes w blueberry syrup, 4/5: The syrup is more of a jam and isn't very sweet, but that's no problem. Pancakes are fluffy! - Blueberry muffin, 5/5: Fluffy, warm, and good flavor.

Yelp
We stopped here as we wanted coffee and there was an actual parking space available . The coffee and food was good but the booths are definitely not plus size friendly . There was no tables available unfortunately.
google avatar

Teofila R.

Yelp
Busy place with outgoing waitresses. Coffee was good in a nice mug. Blueberry pancakes are delicious with blueberry syrup.
google avatar

Dennis G.

Yelp
Good bacon egg and cheese. Blueberry pancakes and muffins were ok, not great. Good coffee. Old school family diner vibe. This is where the locals go. Affordable. Friendly service. Food came quickly. One of the few places open early.
google avatar

Bill M.

Yelp
The best blueberry pancakes we had on our trip. The rest of breakfast items were great as well. Very friendly staff with quick service.

Mark M.

Yelp
Jordan's is a solid selection for breakfast, the quality, quantity, and price = Value and Jordan's hits the mark on my scale. Don't miss the blueberry muffins, they are outstanding, and the Denver omelette is great. They open early so it's a great stop after sunrise on Cadillac mountain.
google avatar

Perri V.

Yelp
What an awesome, no frills spot. We walked right in on a summer weekend with no wait. They were super accommodating of our toddlers- gave them crayons and tiny water cups right away. Food came very quickly and was all delicious. The blueberry pancakes and home fries were the favorites for us. My kids also loved the fruit bowl, which was huge. When we added a couple things to our order mid-meal, they were out in less than 5 minutes, which is truly miraculous when you have toddlers. We would gladly come back here any time!

B P.

Yelp
Typical great breakfast fare with attentive staff. Get there early to avoid any wait. Upgrade to real maple or blueberry syrup.

Mike C.

Yelp
"Okay" diner with typical breakfast options. The good...fast service, no wait when we arrived, and one of the very few early places open in bar harbor. The bad...way overpriced for what you get. Pancakes were decent but extra charge for actual maple syrup (otherwise all you get is fake/corn syrup stuff)
google avatar

Rebekah H.

Yelp
Quick diner feel without diner prices. Service was great! However the food was average and pretty pricey for what you get.
google avatar

Martie G.

Yelp
Came here on recommendation from a friend. So glad we did. We were told to order a grilled blueberry muffin which is not on the menu. Wowzers! Best afternoon snack ever! Wait staff was so so kind and friendly! Restaurant is super clean and a wonderful stop!
google avatar

Tanty V.

Yelp
The service was very quick and the staff were very nice! The food was delicious, we all wanted more. It all tasted really good. On the back of the menu there is a coloring page with tic-tac-toe grids. If you ask, you can get crayons! I highly recommend.
google avatar

Callie B.

Yelp
Delicious food! Our favorite breakfast place in Bar Harbor. Service was awesome! Cute and cozy atmosphere.
google avatar

Shelby H.

Yelp
Must get blueberry syrup if you're getting pancakes. Pancakes are lil expensive in my opinion but yummy. This was the only place open early enough to get coffee before Cadillac mountain sunrise so stopped here a second time for coffee and more yummy blueberry mufffins!! Very quick in and out
google avatar

Zhen E.

Yelp
A diner style breakfast place, warm and big blueberry muffin, regular taste, very good and fast services.
google avatar

Peter K.

Yelp
Great service and a lot of food! I had the blueberry pancakes. They were huge and tasty.

Banananna C.

Yelp
Extremely quick service & delicious food! We had chocolate chip pancakes, Maine delight omelet, and the steak & cheese omelet. Everything was SO good! My only gripe, and not even enough to take a star away, would be the prices of menu items, but that's on par with the area - $8.29 for a bowl of cold cereal is absurd no matter the area though! Either way, would definitely return!
